Terrible lagginess with Autodesk - Nexus 10 General

Hello guys,
I was doing a sketch on the Autodesk sketch programme, and was absolutely shocked at how bad the lag was when zooming. Sometimes I would try to zoom, nothing happened for about 10 seconds, then when I let go, the tablet would zoom in out in out etc for about 15 seconds without me touching it! Incredibly bad.
I dont know if it has something to do with the screen resolution, but I am going to return this tablet, it is sadly not even in the same ballpark as the ipad wrt fluidity. Can you imagine David Hockney putting up with that? No way.
Sadly
Mark.

It's most likely the program itself (the Nexus 10 has some pretty beefy hardware)... I suggest emailing Autodesk and request that they optimize it for the Nexus 10.
Also, I just tried the program. Zooming isn't as optimal as I would like, but it's nowhere near as bad as 10-second delay (more like 1-2 seconds in my case). To be completely fair though, I'm on a custom ROM/Kernel, and also my sketch was just 3 letters I drew with lines (nothing extremely complex at all).

Who?

The image I had made was only 4 layers, and was 1500x1700 approx... not a big deal at all... so it's really shocking that it would take over 10 seconds trying to catch up with zooming commands.
David Hockney is one of the world's most famous living artists. He recently had a massive exhibition at the Royal Academy of Art and one of the seven rooms he filled with landscapes was HUGE (6 meters high) "paintings" done on the ipad. I was in awe as to how he could get such resolution and be able to work on it on a tablet. No such luck, obviously, on the N10
Mark.

Try to activate "force gpu rendering" in developer options. This might help a lot. If not that just means that autodesk have to update their software to work properly on 4.2 / n10 . PS to activate developer options go to "about device" and tap the build number couple of times

Hi beeboss,
i tried that and it did not help much, still getting at least 5 or 6 seconds of zooming after I stop touching the screen.
cheers
Mark.

I think that some time should be given for developers to optimize their apps. A15 processor is complete new, and never used before , so the code can't use all the power of cpu and gpu. To speed up the process try to contact autodesk through google play, i'm sure the next update will fix this issue .

Autodesk on Android is a horrible iOS port. That's your problem. Not the hardware.

I hope so... its a bit of a gamble, as google offer 15 days to return it if you are not happy, and based on that, I am not happy at all... but if it gets fixed, I would be.

Nexus 10 vs Nexus 7(or any other tablet/phone) comparison/discussion

As the title says make your discussions/comparisons in this thread.
Don't open new threads for this matter or they will be closed or deleted.
Thank you!!!
We have a similar thread in the Nexus 4 forum and it's one of the more popular threads continually on the first page.. Currently up to 162 pages in length.. Glad to see it done here now as it really does clean up the forum in a good way.. :good:
Nexus 10 - alot of problems / alot of units with problems . I didn t expected to be that heavy.
Nexus 7 - bulky, heavy and something its missing for me to like ... i don t know what ...
Ipad mini - very interesting all around . Ugly ios ...
Ipad 4 - very heavy but supreme build quality . Excelent customer care . You see a problem and they change the device instantly . Ugly ios gives me claustrofobia..

Anyways is the nexus 7 a lot better then the note 7 because my mom got an 8gb note 7 for 140 dollars as a gift for our cousins we only see in the summer because they live overseas. Also does it have sd card support because she wont let me touch it and 8 gb seems like a low amt for a tablet

[offtopic] to make it short nexus 7 is better than any galaxy tab [\offtopic]
Nexus 10 has good specs etc.. but is too big and heavy for me, so i decided to buy n7.

I own both so here is my 2 cents...
The N10, for me, is better all around tablet. The screen is far better, it's thinner, faster and smoother than the N7, and the front facing speakers are great. The N10 also has a micro HDMI port for connecting to projector for work presentations. Battery life is great.
The N7 is of course more portable and can be palmed in one hand. the battery life is also good, but not as good as the N10.
Anyway, I basically gave my N7 to my 5 year old daughter.

I have the nexus 7 and nexus 10 and I don't know what problems your speaking of with the nexus 10 but mine works fine. The nexus 7 is a little chunky but it feels good in the hands. Both are nice tablets. The screen on the nexus 10 looks really good. There's times it lags but I think it's bc of the higher resolution

Problems like : Subit restarts, 400 ram free , 5 hour charging , screen bleeding , 5 hour screen on battery , incompatibility with many 3g modems, hdmi aspect limitation , gets very hot etc.
You can look at the troubleshooting thread in nexus 10 if you are curious .

I still would say that your issues are a physical PROBLEM with your Nexus 10 - I don't see how you could have such a bad experience with it compared to many others without there being hardware issues. The battery life, especially; even the restarts. I've heard of others having restarts, but you seem to be having more issues with it than other people.
As for charging times, 5 hours is normal. The iPad charges no faster, really - the fastest charging tablets are by ASUS, 1.5-2 hours to a full charge. THOSE are good chargers. This is lower amperage, as it is a standard USB cable. The Nexus 10 also has a massive battery.
ipad charge faster and last longer .
too bad IOS ruins all
from what ive read 5 hours its with pogo cable , i get 6 with usb charger . I will not give 20$ on a plastic 50cm with 2,3 wires inside .

unfortunately there are few tablets to compare with nexus 10 .
same category
- ipad 4
- new sony tablet
- asus infinity
- microsoft tablets
appx

- ipad mini
- galaxy note 8
thats all
no use to have 100 topics with the same object like subject ...

It is blatantly obvious from your numerous posts that you despise the Nexus 10, but that is no reason for you to make stuff up. My wife's Ipad 4, and all of my friends that have them all report over 5 hour charge times.

10 hours average screen on VS 4.5 , 5 hours with my nexus 10 ( i charge it overnight also and i also don t think its a good ideea ... obviosly )
where I stuff up ?
nexus 10 beats ipads at OS, sound and screen format . thats all . build quality and details that make your life with it , are very bad from my point of view in compare.
sorry for saying my oppinions that you dont like ..
Brees , you also love nexus 10 unconditionated and you don t see the problems because its the first device that makes the things look like they should be but i want much more from this experience ... i don t want infantile issues with a device for what ive payed 550 euro in 2013 wtf .
I hope also that google makes the next device better in every way but be carefull to the QC also . It has the power and i m shore it will in the future but now this device has problems .
Nexus 10 its just a " nice try "

Nexus 10 beats iPad hands down for me, only 3 downsides for me ATM:
1 it's all plastic ky, solved by nice colourful case (unfortunately lack of decent non leather cases mind you)
2 battery charge seems forever... Although I have been using quite heavily while charging which won't help charge times
3 no lovefilm Player ATM for android devices... But that's supposedly going to be fixed soon anyway
So pretty much nexus 10 kicks ass lol
probably a better bet is to wait for what google has to say at there I/O event. Many reports saying a new nexus 7 with hd display. I'll probably go for that as they are also reporting the same $200 price point with snapdragon processor.

Great tablet... but not a N10 as it blows it away, but that's comparing apples to apples, it is a great tablet but OP is asking about the next nexus tablet and the transformer doesn't compare not even compare
Had a breeze through the thread and didn't find the answer I'm looking for. Just wondered if there was anyone who had gone from the iPad to Nexus 10 and preferred the Nexus? I'm currently using an iPad 4 as my main tab, but have an itch for the N10 however don't wanna get burnt. Had numerous Android tabs in the past before giving in and getting an IPad, as at the time they were just far superior to anything in the Android sphere. My jailbroken iPad 4 is an absolute joy to use and gives me outstanding battery life, just obviously sucks for video and I am an Android lover at heart. Anyone jumped to the N10 and actually prefer it?
Regards.

Out of curiosity, why did you sell it? The next N10 will not be out till October-November. I'm interested in picking an N10 up, but want to wait for the 3G version.

it wasnt portable enough, pretty heavy. Loved the screen but needed something that i can take around more easier and maybe the next nexus 7 will be my solution
Seriously why? Portable? Even if Google releases the next nexus 7 it won't be available for a few months is that extra 3 inches weighing you down after all this time? I would have at least waited for a nexus 11 if it was really in production as it is worth an upgrade as the spec's potentially say...
Edit: you said you were looking for the next nexus 7 or 10 so why would you sell a 10 inch if you are still looking for one (possibly) as this one does everything a 10 inch android tablet does already. Sorry doesn't make sense bro, sounds more contradictory to what your saying... unless what your looking for is 3G etc that's the only deciding factor N10 doesn't
I roll with a Nexus 10 and Nexus 4. The Nexus 10 is for stuff that feels/looks awesome on a large screen, and the phone is for situations where carrying a Nexus 10 might not be ideal (exercising, Ingress, etc.)
The Nexus 7 would be a perfect device for me, if not for two things:
- Weaker hardware (compared to the Nexus 4 and 10)
- No rear-facing camera
A Nexus 7 with the chipset of the Nexus 10, 720p screen (or 1080p; non-optimized apps tend to not do too well on the N10's resolution), rear-facing camera, and GSM cellular would be the ultimate device for me :good:
If Google announced such a device... my N10 and 4 might go on sale relatively soon

I can fit a Nexus 7 in my pocket. A Nexus 10 has no chance at fitting in my pocket however... As for another deciding factor, rear-facing camera
Next gen Nexus 7 is likely to happen on this I/O, and if it is it then it should be out next month, not so sure about the next gen Nexus 10, might get a solo announcement later in the year like the N10 did.
Yeah i dont think that google will anounce the next 10 inch tablet yet. The nexus 10 only came out 7 months ago and hasn't really had time to sell as much as it can. If they anounce the next one then more people will want to wait for the new one and they'd have to drop the price of it a little to sell it. I think theyre going to wait a month or two more because more people are just starting to get interested in it and other android tablets. Now i just cant wait for the next update from google. Theres too many rumors going around and i just want to know whats true. Will it be 4.3 or 5.0?
A tablet's going to need a bag to be carried easily anyway. You might as well have the biggest you can.
lol some people claim that their nexus 7 fits in their pockets, is that true?
You can fit it in your back pocket or a coat pocket but there is no way you'll be able to in the front. Unless you have some cargo pants on or something. It is too early for a Nexus 10 update (although Apple refreshed their last iPad after only a few months) but the Nexus 7 is in prime position for an update. I'll be picking one up on day 1.
I don't think we'll see Key Lime Pie at the conference and Jellybean could use some even more refinement (not sure what happened in the 4.2 update). I expect a separate announcement from Google sometime in the fall with Key Lime Pie and new Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 devices to go along with it. Maybe we'll get an LTE Nexus 4 but I'm not holding my breath on that.
With only one major 3 hour session scheduled on Wednesday, expect most of the emphasis on Chrome, Google+, and Android. I'll be tuning it on the fun.

Most of the buzz that I've read says that Google will release a 4.3 update for Android, while holding off on the 5.0/Key Lime Pie until after Apple releases iOS 7.

I was just going to say this. I dont have a Nexus 7 but i do have a GTab 2 7" that fits in the front or back pocket of any of my jeans. I can even fit the tablet and my phone in one pocket, or tablet and wallet. In the back pockets it sticks out about 2" on top, but in my front pockets the tablet is completely covered and cannot be seen by anyone.

Bro the hardware is not alot weaker. You`re facin more lags on n10 than on n7 anyway. A dualcore is not enough for that resolution.

Core count doesn't tell the whole story or even mean much; GPU and memory play a bigger role in how content is handled on that resolution (unless a developer manages to render everything with the CPU for some reason, which I imagine is pretty hard to even code and pretty silly).
Regardless, the Nexus 7 is using a Cortex A9 Tegra 3 @ a max of 1.3GHz, which doesn't dominate benchmarks by itself. With some OC'ing and custom kernels, it becomes a bit better, but still nothing "amazing". A Nexus 10 uses a Cortex A15 Exynos 5 Dual with a max of 1.7GHz, which does manage to do a lot better even at stock, in theoretical benchmarks.
Hardware-wise, the Nexus 10 dominates over the Nexus 7. The Nexus 10 however does have a lot more pixels to push, which thus make the hardware avantage not "as" obvious (but still pretty noticeable in most scenarios). I have a newer-model 32GB Nexus 7, and I can say with a fact that I notice a pretty decent performance difference with general tasks, in-comparison to my Nexus 10. Disk I/O I believe is a weak point on the Nexus 7 too.
Only times where I find other devices performing better than my (stock) Nexus 10 is with unoptimized 3D games. After using a custom kernel which ups the chipset and GPU frequency though, there barely is any performance difference with those games.
But yeah, I do have a Nexus 7 and 10 available, and would be interested in seeing what I can do to experience "more lags".

Actually, it seems that the delay of Android 4.3 (or perceived delay) was to prove a point that I/O does not have to be a launch platform for Android updates.
4.3 is rumored to arrive ~June 10th.
See: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013/05/white-nexus-4-and-android-4-3-reportedly-slated-for-june-10/
And: http://www.theverge.com/2013/5/15/4333406/android-4-3-confirmed-google-developer-site/in/4095431
As for interesting; Google Play has a LOT of back-end upgrades. For one, Google Play Games! Osmos and Super Stickman Golf 2 already have integration for live multiplayer matches and achievements. Also, the "Designed for Tablets" section was finally added, dedicated to showing apps that have been optimized for tablets on said tablets Google Play Stores. THIS, I'm LOVING! See http://www.androidauthority.com/google-play-store-update-for-tablets-210150/
Also, All Access music subscription in the U.S. (Google's Radio/Music Streaming service, WITH a one-month free trial. $10 a month).
Then, there's also Hangouts, the replacement for Google Talk. Many people are complaining about it, the lack of features - but it is BEAUTIFUL. Gesture based, great pull-out panes and navigation, with hundreds of emoticons and platform compatibility across the PC, Android, and iOS. Video calling and messaging integrated, although we've lost voice calling. SMS integration is coming soon, according to a Googler. You also get read receipts! Loving that. Group chats are also easy to start, and picture messaging is included as well! It's gonna be great.
THEN there's the Galaxy S4 - Google Edition. Nexus-level firmware and Nexus-level updates! $600, but still...looks like Google is expanding the program a bit.

It is my first experience with chinese apparatus generally. But I was a holder of the following devices until now: galaxy s, s3, Note 2, S4, LG G2, Note 3, LG G3 - Note 4, Lg G4, LG G5

Well we have and say, after 24 hours with redmi note 4:
1. Beautiful gold, as I see it and the habit so I like more. Generally very nice design (tastes of course is what)
2. Autonomy, very good 6-7 hours sot comfortably without restrictions
3. Photo Quality just good (not compare in any way with famous flagship)
4. Despite very quick smoothie with exemplary, very good work in MIUI 8 (6.0.1)
5. Very good speaker on the G5 I maybe better. Sound from the headphones is also very clear and powerful (tested with headphones gavio metallon)
6. Display good (not sure amoled) with excellent brightness! viewing angles simply good.
7. The fingerprint lightning fast, more or less like the LG G5
8. Google play had to spend manually (easily of course)
9. The device has anglokineziki rom.
10. It charges very fast (not just counted time will come back)
11. I placed the first day nova launcher pro (all my devices that I wear always), which I can say sat very well, and what I mean? In G5 I eg with nova launcher there is a conflict with the locking device and the fingerprint unlock, in redmi note 4 not encountered any problems, do not expect .......
12. Now to the issue of cpu temperatures, the temperature that can do with mobile, keep very reasonable! I did not expect you to read the earlier X10.

Question: How is active battery life? Standby drain? Anything out of the ordinary with the X20? Since the first device with the X20 (ZOPO Speed 8) was so bad with it, I'm worried about EVERY device with the X20.

Great to hear. Turns out X20 isn't so bad after all!
Finally managed to get google play The battery life is great, only thing is that it charges pretty slowly but that could be because I'm using my old xiaomi plug which is lower output. Haven't had any problems so far but its top early to tell. Now I just need to wait for my bootloader to be unlocked
Been using it for a day now, managed to get pkay store and so far so good. Only thing is that when im watching videos on youtube or using CM browser sometimes the app will just close randomly. Not a big problem but it gets annoying when it happens often. Anyone else experiencing this as well?
Hi,
Tell me please does the Redmi Note 4 have NFC support? Some websites say yes, some say no.
Thanks
I get around 5 hours screen on time with my rmn4 . Great device !
No NFC..... Anyone know how to unlock bootloader?

Brother same here everything is closing automatically and frequently.. Did you get any solution.
Ive tweaked the permissions, power saving apps, restrictions, ect...Everything I found that could be possible, and I still get apps automatically shutting down. Even the ones I've locked into memory. I think there's some big bugs with Miui 8 so far, and needs a little polishing.

Same. I tried tweaking LMK values too. I actually get massive slow-downs now, I need to regularly clean memory (even if I only have Chrome open since cleaning memory before - Chrome itself will slow down and lag really badly).
Hope it's fixed soon. By three year old Xperia Z runs MIUI better than this lol...

Agreed, I hope it is fixed soon too. I was very excited to finally have an official MIUI device, but this runs like I'm in a beta program.
Just to give a feedback about this phone. I've been using it for 3 days now.
I'm not that kind of person that gives 5* review easily, but THIS PHONE IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Best xiaomi buy ever, and MIUI 8 is impressive as well.
Well done Xiaomi!

Should I buy a LeEco Le Max 2?

Hi guys,
I have been using an elephone p7000 since I bought it on their launch promotion. The lack of rom support and a few issues have finally made me consider a new phone. The Le Max 2 seems the best value for $180 USD for the 32GB version. Should I be looking elsewhere?
Thanks

I would say dont buy it as the support for le max 2 is very less. Buy something else, dont fall for the price with high specs. Also it has some problems with its display, the colors are not so natural

Bought it recently, came from a Mediatek device, and I'm happy with the move.
If you're OK with no headphone jack, I would say it's definitely worth it. Camera is a BIG upgrade to me, if that's important to you. Rom support is also a step from any Mediatek device (for obvious reasons). Build quality is very good, battery life is also good considering it's a QHD screen, screen itself is OK in terms of colour reproduction, no issues with outdoor sunlight. Just installed Lineage OS 14.1 and it's working great.
Maybe pay a bit more for the 64GB version if you need more space.

Nope display is not fine and by display i mean colors. The colors on custom roms are way too much saturated. If you use any different phone from different vendor for 2-3 weeks then the colors of leeco starts annoying. Even the colors on the stock rom is not good, it is better compared to custom rom but still not so accurate.

And support doesn't only means software support(never said anything about warranty). If some accident happens with phone's hardware, may it be screen, camera glass or any other hardware part then you cant get anything original to repair it. You have to opt for some different low quality hardware for which you will be charged quite the same as original one. So if anyone is going to buy anything new, its better not to buy anything from a closed company

Lol so basically he should even let his 190€ go to waste. And no problem in it is solvable, like the colors are over saturated, repair that. I have a redmi note 3 too. And guess what i use my note 3 as primary device cause this phone even in a custom rom slower than note 3. Yes on reality it should be more faster and should produce more nice results even in terms of gpu but when i install same thing on this phone and note 3,note 3 installs it faster. When i play war robots, this phone will make me wait more 2-3 seconds even when the timer has ended to start the match, no such problems in note 3. Lets agree to disagree that this phone has better chip but its not good because the implementation of the chipset is bad, a 2k resolution burns up all the battery and takes a whole lot of cpu and gpu.
Try some other phones with 650 or above chipsets from some other companies, you would know what i am referring to. This phone just doesnt performs as a 820. And one of my friend recently got a mi A1 and guess what, its camera is better compared to this one. I never thought that can be possible so i tested it for 15mins and mi A1 won.
And dont waste your money, better buy something else if you want to use it for 2 more years. This phone wont get any far even with development on xda. While the new phone which are released nowadays will get development for more than 3-4 years as after all this phone is already 1 year old. I would say go for honor 9i,its chipset would be even better compared to sd630 as kirin655 was better compared to sd625

My colours are fine, and workspeed isn't slower than on similar devices (one plus), there are enough vids on YouTube. I agree that missing spare parts are a problem, but the situation wasn't different on my last phone, which was a popular mainstream device.

So now you tell it yourself that after a year when this phone is already 1 year old with no support of hardware, will you recommend it to buy someone. Will you yourself buy it at this point of time when the next year is so close and next year's mid range phones are coming here whose camera will beat it without any doubt and also they will get better hardware support and better software support from xda.
I would say he should wait this year or should go for coolpad cool 6 as it sports a nice camera with 653 soc. But this is way too outdated.
The main problem is, this phone hasnt sold much due to which even the support from xda is not so huge as compared to redmi note 3(speaking from personal experience) which came early than it but have been sold twice more than le max 2. Basically the one which sells more gets more support from xda afterall the devs do want their work to be appreciated by more people

There are more than enough good ROMs on XDA, I really don't know why you wish more support. I would never buy a phone with a 6xx soc if I can get an 820 for the same money. The 1440p display is great for VR, but you are right, in daily use you probably wont notice a difference, it's just nice to be able to say "retina? haha now that's some low res ****". So I would recommend it, but only if you like to play around with different ROMs, flash tweaks, etc.
If you want to have a phone ready to use out of the box you should take another one.
I guess it depends on where you are and how cheap it is. I bought mine from ebay(US) for $200 (64 GB version). Had mine for a few months (its an x829) and I've had no issues with it. Fingerprint scanner works(though sometimes it does requiere more than 1 try, no screen flickering issues. The phone itself is not bad, ive flashed a couple of custom roms but always end up going back to modified stock. I would definitely recomend this phone, or the LE pro 3. Good bang for buck on both of them. Sure, we might never see official nougat but that doesnt bother me at least.

Dunno, I do some gaming and havent noticed lag on my emulators (ppsspp, epsxe) or in heavy games (I played unkilled and dead trigger, as well as a few MMOs.) I use crisballgreece rom with AKT profiles so whenever i play i use performance profiles. For me, the phone is ok, but only if you can get it cheap. The pro 3 is less than $200 on amazon US. Snapdragon 821 but the camera is a bit worse and screen is a bit smaller.

Yes i am not denying that the phone isnt best at its price rate but one shouldnt go for it majorly because the colors are oversaturated compared to other phones. Brightness is not so high as it should be. Stock rom is best but performance in it sucks. Also its already 1 year old phone so even the support from the xda will get less. So he should better buy something of this year or wait 4 or 5 more months to get hands on the good phones from next year

Where do I go from here?

I've changed devices several times from iPhones to Samsungs, to LGs & to Huawei (M9 & M10P).
Wanted to go for M20P or M20X but decided to hold off till next iteration cos my M10P is still excellent in looks & performance.
Now I want to move on (probably hand my M10P to my wife - she's not geeky & she's the "if it isn't broken don't fix" type).
Question is where do I go? I love cameras, powerful processors & gaming (PUBG, CODM, Assassin's Creed, N4S, Real Racing etc).
M30P isn't cutting it for me.
Xiaomi mi note 10 Pro would have been everything I need in a phone if the had SD855+ and also 90Hz/120Hz but alas!
ROG II is almost perfect but for poor cameras
Oppo Reno 2 Gundam edition is a good shout.
& a host of others like O+7P, BlackShark
What do you guys think?
I went to Mate 20 x. The huge screen and real stereo speakers are a blast for media consumption. Pubg plays awesomely. Updates are coming regularly, Android 10 is currently rolled out in Beta. Camera is fabulous.
Everything is smooth and stable and it's cheap. What more can you ask off a smartphone these days?
