My new redmi note 4!!! - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

Hello, I received the beast! First impressions very positive,
When the activation wore MIU 7 something and immediately had an upgrade available in 8!
The X20 seems to be doing quite well with the temperatures, I mean although they set kept within reasonable limits the temperature. Also thanks to the guide here on Google play installation forum, and I was able to pass the Google play and the goodies (contacts, calendar, etc.)
I will come back with more details when the handle a couple 2 days .....
It is my first experience with chinese apparatus generally. But I was a holder of the following devices until now: galaxy s, s3, Note 2, S4, LG G2, Note 3, LG G3 - Note 4, Lg G4, LG G5

Well we have and say, after 24 hours with redmi note 4:
1. Beautiful gold, as I see it and the habit so I like more. Generally very nice design (tastes of course is what)
2. Autonomy, very good 6-7 hours sot comfortably without restrictions
3. Photo Quality just good (not compare in any way with famous flagship)
4. Despite very quick smoothie with exemplary, very good work in MIUI 8 (6.0.1)
5. Very good speaker on the G5 I maybe better. Sound from the headphones is also very clear and powerful (tested with headphones gavio metallon)
6. Display good (not sure amoled) with excellent brightness! viewing angles simply good.
7. The fingerprint lightning fast, more or less like the LG G5
8. Google play had to spend manually (easily of course)
9. The device has anglokineziki rom.
10. It charges very fast (not just counted time will come back)
11. I placed the first day nova launcher pro (all my devices that I wear always), which I can say sat very well, and what I mean? In G5 I eg with nova launcher there is a conflict with the locking device and the fingerprint unlock, in redmi note 4 not encountered any problems, do not expect .......
12. Now to the issue of cpu temperatures, the temperature that can do with mobile, keep very reasonable! I did not expect you to read the earlier X10.

Question: How is active battery life? Standby drain? Anything out of the ordinary with the X20? Since the first device with the X20 (ZOPO Speed 8) was so bad with it, I'm worried about EVERY device with the X20.

Great to hear. Turns out X20 isn't so bad after all!

Finally managed to get google play The battery life is great, only thing is that it charges pretty slowly but that could be because I'm using my old xiaomi plug which is lower output. Haven't had any problems so far but its top early to tell. Now I just need to wait for my bootloader to be unlocked

Been using it for a day now, managed to get pkay store and so far so good. Only thing is that when im watching videos on youtube or using CM browser sometimes the app will just close randomly. Not a big problem but it gets annoying when it happens often. Anyone else experiencing this as well?

Hi,
Tell me please does the Redmi Note 4 have NFC support? Some websites say yes, some say no.
Thanks

I get around 5 hours screen on time with my rmn4 . Great device !

No NFC..... Anyone know how to unlock bootloader?

Brother same here everything is closing automatically and frequently.. Did you get any solution.

Ive tweaked the permissions, power saving apps, restrictions, ect...Everything I found that could be possible, and I still get apps automatically shutting down. Even the ones I've locked into memory. I think there's some big bugs with Miui 8 so far, and needs a little polishing.

Same. I tried tweaking LMK values too. I actually get massive slow-downs now, I need to regularly clean memory (even if I only have Chrome open since cleaning memory before - Chrome itself will slow down and lag really badly).
Hope it's fixed soon. By three year old Xperia Z runs MIUI better than this lol...

Agreed, I hope it is fixed soon too. I was very excited to finally have an official MIUI device, but this runs like I'm in a beta program.

Just to give a feedback about this phone. I've been using it for 3 days now.
I'm not that kind of person that gives 5* review easily, but THIS PHONE IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Best xiaomi buy ever, and MIUI 8 is impressive as well.
Well done Xiaomi!

Any serious problems with this phone?

I recently bought the THL 2015 and since there are battery production faults I'm am again searching for a new phone. But before I buy one again I want to know whether there are problems with this phone or other reasons to absolutely not buy this phone. How is the software support from Xiaomi for de Redmi Note 2 and has the hardware any problems?
Thanks!
Well, i just have one month with this device, and I never have had a xiaomi, but i can tell you my experience. First of all, i dont like how miui launcher looks like, but you can fix it installing a new one. Beside of this, miui has some nice features like a lock button in notification area, the posibility of unlock your phone with volume buttons, the phone vibrate when you are making a call and they answer so you dont have to put it over your ear, etc. But, something bad about miui is its bad Ram memory management. And about hardware, its a nice phone, but it doesnt have premium materials, and it isnt the best looking phone, but its helio x10 and 2gb of ram make a nice combination for just 150 EU. The only thing I dont like of this phone, is the lack of gorilla glass in screen, it seems that could be broken if you arent carefull. So, in my final opinion, its worth 150 EU, but the strong fact of this phone is its processor, so if it isnt what youre looking for, you better look for another one

There is only one developper on this phone so this is the problem
I am also a former THL 2015 user and changed to this smartphone and I like it much more than the THL 2015 (dark grey - currently with Delirium AOSP v3).
On the Redmi Note 2 they use a similar glass like gorilla glas (dragontrail glass) but you can also buy a screen protection (Makibes Toughened Glass 0.33mm Screen Protector Film Cover Arc Edge For XIAOMI Redmi Note 2, very nice ~5$).
And as @adaltavo mentioned miui is not to everyones taste (has some ios feel to it and I missed the app drawer).
Differences to the THL 2015:
- from my point of view it didn't got as hot as the THL 2015
- no touch id (maybe if you wait a little longer you can buy the Redmi Note 2 Pro which features a touch ID - that's what the rumours say)
- Redmi Note 2 has better sound quality
- LED which features more than a red color xD
- better main camera (focuses better and better quality, similar speed to the THL 2015 to catch a picture)
- features "fast charging" (use a 5V 2A charger)
- Android L (THL 2015 has Kitkat) (I like Android L - I got used to it)
- ...
Hmm, as far as I am aware at least my phone Redmi Note 2 Prime does not support fast charging (the soc should support it, but obviously not enabled). For me the most serious issue is battery life.
Which rom are you using?
Just my 2 cents: I changed the MIUI with an AOSP ROM and I am satisfied.
The phone is great for the money and I don't have a cheap feeling especially having the great feature to replace completely the cover.
I found very few phones with that feature + 2 sims + external sd card ...
Thanks for your opinions. Since I have received a spare battery I will continue to use my THL 2015 for a while and wait for the Mi5 or the next generation of the Redmi Note. Or if the battery dies before any of those phones get released I will probably buy this one. I personally like MIUI so this isn't a problem and as for the battery life: I have an external power bank so I can charge it during the day if the battery gets to low. As you said there are a lot of good features like the dual sim and the external sd card slot so I guess for the price it is a good phone. Thanks a lot!

Hello, well similar battery performance on all roms I have tried. I think like no more than 4.5 hours on WiFi, and no more 3.5 hrs 3G mostly web browsing. I am not sure what is sucking the battery so much, as MTK HELIO X10 is used in so many devices and battery seem ok on them. So it's either that, or the screen which in my case is TYANMA.
Try 5.10.22 dev ROM. I keep recommending it as it has been the best update so far. Just yesterday I got 6:17 SOT on wifi, and that's with watching streams on Twitch for a good chunk of time.

it's a good phone. not the best, but considering 150euro...
the most important feature i want from this phone is removable battery and external sd.
i figure the fixed battery is just a strategy feature they use to force you to change your device every 2 years(the battery will wear out). and in my opinion, an extra battery is always better than a bank.
the most disappointing about this phone is the battery life. it seems X10 is not that easy to handle. so if you get this phone, the rom i highly recommended is the 10.22. it has the best Soc control so far.
and now i am looking for a good battery life ASOP rom.
and in addition, there seems to be a seal problem at the front, which makes the front cam easy to have dust inside. not big problem since i barely use the from cam.
I agree with you man and I would add that the ability to replace completely the body is another feature non easy at all to find in a smartphone. if you don't break/scratch the screen you can replace battery and back cover and have a brand new phone when you want !
Yeah, but the thing is the replaceable battery phone is so rare these days. So I can almost see my day of compromise...
You see, I am used to be a milestone fan, If you know what I mean....
For me, the battery is no worse than any other phone that I have ever used. I can get 2 full days of moderate usage on a single charge. Mind you, I have Greenify running, and also 360 Security, both of which have battery saving features. Wakelock Detector will show you which apps/services are using up your juice - and you can "Freeze" the system apps that you don't need (with great caution). For example, I have frozen the system launcher (I use Nova), the Google Keyboard (I use SwiftKey), and the Documents app (which I don't need). I may yet freeze some more when I am feeling a bit braver....

Yes, it has gapps.
Probably the lack of NFC, that is, if you use it.
Oh, and I really don't think the red buttons look all that good. But a great phone otherwise.

How is the phone working uptil now ? Please share your thoughts.

I have to buy this phone and I am on a tight budget. Recently there was an offer on flipkart so I decided to go for it and accidentally I went into comment section which was filled with negative review.
My question is:
1) Finger print scanner working good? Even if it takes like 2-3 sec to recognise it's good for me. There many people wrote that it completely stopped working
2) how is the battery life with constant data usage ?
I would really appreciate if you can clear my doubts.
Thanks in advance!
Fingerprint is quite good with 16s August update. It is acceptable now.
Battery life is not so good. But it will last you for a whole day if you use it moderately. (I am sure you won't use it moderately when the phone is new.)
I would rather wait for Google device or go for One Plus 3 as it is slightly better in most respects and has excellent 3rd party ROM support from XDA community.

Seriously? You can get those tasks done with a 20$ phone... Le Max 2 is a monster with a Antutu score around 138000. With the latest update 16s for x820 there is no issues., the best phone I ever had.

Are you it is'nt the VoLTE HD call setting in Dual Sim & Mobile networks? I had the problem with all my calls disconnect, the issue with that VoLTE HD call is set from factory is that far from all carriers support VoLTE.
Would that be? Cause some parts seems to work just fine... Is this region bound maybe?
But if I force only 2g or 3g instead of 4g, the issue still occur, wouldn't volte automatic should disable?

This phone is a beast, the hardware versus price point is quite competitive. The fingerprint scanner is working fine with the update...though it still misses it maybe 2 times out of ten, meaning i give the fingerprint scanner an 8/10. Battery life is average, for a non-gaming user you can do just about a day. but for a serious gamer and 4G user, about 3/4 of the day or less. the battery for me would be 5/10.
Then there is the issue with the camera. The camera app is crap. it struggles to maintain focus and in video mode during recording it can not auto focus. Using 3rd party apps helps but I feel a firmware update should be made available to address this issue at the core. I would give the camera performance a 6/10.

Which big screen phone can let you gaming all day long?
Shut up, for this money you can't do better. And a big portion of all the negative reviews when the phone came to the market were employees from firms like Xiaomi, Meizu etc. That's how Chinese firms do business, they have no code of conduct.
Fingerprint scanner has its quirks but nothing off-putting at all. It should be better from what I read above in more recent ROMs. Battery honestly is amazing. I can lay this phone down at night and get up the next day and it only has lost a couple of percents. A great step up from my Note 3.

I have the same problem, can't receive calls and can't dial out. When you go to settings -> mobile settings(donno exactly, but you'll find it) just where u see ur sim(s) etc.), you can't change settings when u get called (just call urself and try it out), so the phone DOES receive something. I'm gonna try installing another ROM to see if it fixes the problem, should i update you? Or did you already fix it? Thanks.

Flash cm13 or modify stock rom will solve the problem, God luck!
Hi I have it,
Fingerprint works in 8/10 times, that's not fast 1sc I would say and if he stops working you must do the calibration and it will work again.
Battery, well 5.7 QHD , 3100mah there isn't no magic, I would say 3,5 sot.

Phone for 2 years

Hey guys , i am about to buy a new phone and my options are: Nexus 5X, HTC M8 and Redmi Note 3 PRO.
I want to know which one has the : 1.better cpu/gpu for games
2.battery life and HEALTH over time because i want to stick with it at least 2 years.
3.which one is more future proof
I know the nexus 5x has the best support for CM which i like but the battery life is a very big downside.
And i want to know if its true that: if there is COLD WEATHER (-5/-10 degrees) outside the battery drains almost VERY fast ? FOR REDMI NOTE 3 PRO (i red this problems on a forum)
Hope you can guys help me sort it out.
Redmi Note 3 pro is definetly the best bang for buck, for performance and updates I'd go for 5X but that's much expensive than this device, I won't touch HTC.
In short, if you want a good phone for a decent price, go for Note 3 Pro, but if you want more performance then go for 5X, but in my opinion, kenzo has everything I need, good speed, fp sensor, and regular updates thanks to devs!

What? SD650 performs better than 808 in both CPU and GPU, not even mentioning temperatures difference, battery and no throttling in SD650. It's not reddit, so let's just stop falsely praise Nexus devices, while in terms of performance they are below Xiaomi models. Hell, on Kenzo you can easily get twice as much SOT as in Nexus 5X, it's like not even competition at this point. I switched from 5X to Redmi Note 3 Pro and I'd say it was big upgrade, kenzo is just better in almost every term.
To OP, in all 3 of these points kenzo destroys rivals, you'd get a bit worse camera but that's probably only downside of this device, if you don't really use it that often then there is just no reason to not buy RN3Pro, and about that problem, I'm often using it outside and where I live, right now there is like -7 to -12 degrees and I haven't seen any drain, battery drops normally just like when I'm home.

So 3 more questions: I DONT CARE ABOUT CAMERA FIRST.
1. For gaming which one is the better one from these 2?
2. If i live in a cold country the fast draining battery when its -5 -10 Degrees is a deal breaker?
3.I heard something about xiaomi note 4x with 653 is real or its the normal xiaomi note 4 snapdragon ?
Man...its around -20 celsius where I live everyday right now for over a month and kenzo works flawless... iPhones are dying because of that non stop...first time I hear it for kenzo...
As for performance...its amazing, no lagg, even Vulkan support, simply the best for this value, better from 5x in every segment...
Redmi note 4 came new with SD625 which is less powerful, but supposedly even more battery friendly...but I get around 8-10h SoT most of the time so it doesnt really matter, compared to 5x, like 3h

1. Between Redmi Note 3 Pro and Nexus 5X? Xiaomi, it has slightly better CPU and GPU but the real deal breaker is throttling and temperatures. On SD808 after some time it will get hot and CPU will start throttling, especially while playing for some time, on SD650 there is no such thing, phone might get a bit warmer, but you probably won't even feel it. Plus battery will drain a lot slower on 650.
2. I don't know about Nexus while it's cold because I got rid of mine before it's first winter, but Redmi Note 3 Pro doesn't really care about temperature outside. It works as good wherever it is.
3. Honestly I have no idea. I've heard about it too but after relase of Redmi Note 4 (Snapdragon) I'm not even sure if it's still gonna be relased. Guess we have to wait.

In battery life probably none, about gaming I can't tell, but I don't think that there is that much of price difference to save a little money, 3 gb would be overall better for future, but if I had to buy 2 gb version I'd probably switch instantly to some AOSP custom rom because MIUI used to eat 1,2-1,5gb ram on my 3 gb model so it would probably be a little left for gaming, and on custom roms it's mostly less than 1 gb usage for system. But by buying 3 GB u also get more storage which would probably be nice to have more games instead of wasting money for bigger SD card or something, so think about that too

For unlock bootloader you have to write for a permission, it takes 1-3 days for them to respond and after unlocking it's just pretty much same as in other devices, no problems at all.
About stability, there are tons of stable MM roms and quite a lot of Nougat ones. The only bugs are from what I know flashlight working sometimes after 2nd tap or 3rd and not as good fingerprint reading if you get the goodix model, but it's still not bad, and it's probably gonna be fixed soon. Except these ROMs are stable and have pretty much same battery life as MIUI (because it's very good in terms of battery) and, I'd say, smoother than stock. Benchmark-wise custom ROMs get like 10-20k more in Antutu, plus some of ROMs add Vulkan libs so if you change build.prop you can download and play Vulkan games, they perform really well!

No, it's free. You just have to ask for permission in MIUI site and wait for permission rights on your account, then you simply download one program from MIUI, connect device and click unlock button, it will do it automatically. But I heard that some people are having problem with that and have to first flash MIUI gloval dev via EDL to make program work, for me I didn't have to do anything, unlocked it on version that came with me from shop.

Battery is certainly very good on redmi note 3 pro and u can install android nougat also. Lineage OS, slim roms, rr are all well supported here. Its really like the best of two world a good os good performance massive battery! Dont think mich go for the redmi note 3 pro. But have no idea about quick nattery drain in chilled areas.
Go for Redmi Note 3 Kenzo.

Yes, Redmi Note 4 isn't as powerful as RN3Pro. Though you would get better battery life with SD625, but it would be better choice if battery was more important for you than raw power, but I'd say kenzo has big enough battery so there is pretty much no reason to buy even longer lasting phone while in my case I'm charging phone like once for 3 days with ~3h SOT usage per day.
I just bought the Redmi Note 3 Pro Special Edition and I love it. It's taking forever to unlock because of Xiaomi servers not being updated timely but I love the phone. It's fast, Battery is amazing, 4K video and HD Slow motion are killer.

And is the construction or display better on REDMI NOTE 4? I heard its 2.5d its there a difference ?
we got fully stable cm14.1 with volte, awesome battery backup, dual sim, IR blaster, very good display. and all at very low price. nexus is very costly man. i think three times the price of kenzo.

Overall love

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Xiaomi Mi Max 2, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
According to me, it is one of the best phones in this price range. Overall performance is very much satisfactory
My Mi Max 2 arrived two days ago, i'm really really happy, battery lasts two days with strong use, and everything is smooth. It was not so easy to go through the unlock procedure but now i'm done.
Me to, very happy so far. Coming from Samsung Note4, and that seems to be the end of Samsung phones for me!

I've a Note 3 running Resurrection rom. Just got this last Friday and love the bigger screen, I remember getting the note 1 and nobody could believe the size, and now the note 3 is just about average, lol. Anyways I'll be missing the stylus and removable battery, but other than that it seems good. Just waiting for the 72 hrs to pass so that I can root and unlock the thing. For less than half the price of a Note 8 and the same price here as a second-hand several year old note 4 I don't think you can do wrong.

Buddy, How is the screen quality conpared to the note 3?
It's amoled vs lcd / 380dpi vs 344dpi. Im really considering this one or the LG V20?
Is it too big for pockets?
Screen seems ok to me, it's not as vivid but wil do the job browsing and reading pdfs which is my main use. I've thousands of photos too and they seem ok. Sizewise it's longer and sticks out a little bit from my pockets but not enough to bother me.
I am in love with this device, But bit disappointing with MIUI which uses more ram. Waiting for stable custom rom.:fingers-crossed:
I have a Redmi Note 3. I'm looking for a larger phone. My mom wants to take my Redmi once I get a new phone.
My only concern with this phone is custom ROM support as I don't like using MIUI. Are the chances this will be supported by LineageOS officialy sometime soon? (Mi Max 1 seems to have great custom ROM support). If yes, I'll be buying this phone right away.
Also, I'm confused. Some pages mention this phone has NFC and some don't. Does it have NFC. Doesn't affect my descision to buy this phone but still.

Yes, only thing I'm missing is the picture quality from Samsung, even though it was very much slower to focus, noticed specially when scanning bar codes. In very dark envioment it can be seen that it has ips screen and not amoled. But it cost 1/5 of a new Samsung Note, so i don't care. Specially since my Note4 failed with the "mmc_failed" error after 2 years, and Samsung wont emit it's a production failure.
Camera Quality

I got the phone cheap $229 4/64 (it was 199 yesterday at Gearbest). TOTAL LOVE. Perfect build quality. Fast. Gets a great signal on AT&T (the only signal in my neighborhood). Better than my Samsung despite AT&T's claims it would barely work at all. Yes, it says H+ on the display instead of 4g, but I suspect I was getting H+ already, marketed as 4g, which is what they do in the states.
What's more, I'm getting Volte now with AT&T prepaid -- prepaid customers don't get Volte! (Not that it's much use with this carrier).
In call volume is fine and the speaker quality is great. It wasn't loaded with crapware and unrooted, I was able to disable some system apps (some apps, like the calculator, are terrific).
Regarding the battery: I got a lemon. It's lasting a full day, maybe a day and a half -- but I'm a light user! No gaming, not even online much. I don't run anything except for downloaded audiobooks. But it goes to show you how much I love the phone that I wouldn't even consider sending it back for warranty service. All the way to China? I'd be without it for days, maybe weeks!
It's not perfect. I can't believe TV out is missing -- no way to connect to a monitor with OTG, no matter how many adaptors you use, I'm told. And Xiaomi's firmware prevents you from doing full backups or downloading nonessential updates unless you're on wifi. They claim you can toggle this, but they're sneaky buggers ... you toggle, it says downloading, but when you look for the completed file it says 'scheduled'. I *****ed and moaned in the forum, but hundreds have cried before me, to no avail.
There are a few odd little paternalistic issues with the OS -- not that ATT and Samsung don't dictate what I can do with my device and service -- they're a thousand times worse -- but their preferred forms of control are motivated by profit, not concern for what's 'good' for me. What do they care if I guzzle data?
On the other hand, Xiaomi employees actually monitor the forums. After the major software update, they solicited bug reports and issued fixes for them in a couple of days -- even for the minor bugs.
On a 1 to 10 scale, the phone is a 20, and I'm thrilled to learn they have a wide range of electronics to check out because -- so long Samsung, you suckered this consumer for the last time.
I do love Xiaomi Mi Max 2 except one thing. I can't unlock bootloader on MIUI 9 Global Stable, I get the error 86006 (with some Chinese letters). I know that it can be fixed by flashing on developper rom but I would like to get it fixed without flashing the device.

Yep, I had the same problem. I don't understand why Xiaomi does this.
I ended up giving in and installed a fresh dev ROM and then it worked perfectly.
Loving mine in Canada. I am a heavy user minus gaming(unless you count Scrabble) and I get 2 full days on a charge consistently. I stream sports and movies onto it, lots of music and other normal surfing/social media stuff and it doesn't get hot and the battery just keeps on going. It's early but so far I would definitely recommend the phone and the company. Excellent build quality and attention to detail. This phone was made with me in mind

Time to Upgrade ?!!

I bought my nexus 6p on January 2015 and still work perfect with no issues except the performance , it seems cant handle new heavy apps and games , in the other hand multitasking become useless over the time so i have to clear apps frequently .
In this Thread i am looking for your advice >> should i wait for any new device with new generation snapdragon processor 845 ? to get most of the performance ?
or
buy Pixel 2 XL ?
or
wait the Pixel 3?!!!!
i will take your answers seriously .
I just bought a Pixel 2 XL and it blows the 6P out of the water in performance.
Also it supports LTE-A already if I'm not mistaking even though when don't have that yet in the US.
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
when the original pixel got released... the dual front-facing speakers on my 6P kept me from upgrading
and now Google released the pixel 2 with dual speakers but no headphone jack !
its like they deliberately forcing me not to upgrade -_-
.........................................................
i would still recommend the pixel 2 xl over any other device in the market right now.

I would still be on my N6P were it not for the boot loop issue. My battery had degraded to 90% but would still last a full day for my normal use. The N6P is a powerful, fast phone. If all you have are performance issues, then I would back up the phone and completely wipe it. Use a full image and install it fresh. Returning your phone to stock will make it perform like a new phone, guaranteed. When and if the phone finally succumbs to the boot loop issue, THEN replace it with the new best/fastest phone on the market at that time. The Pixel 2 XL is a phenomenal phone and I love everything about it, BUT I would still be using the N6P if it hadn't developed a hardware issue. I was able to use the 4 core fix to get it running and Google gave me a $155 trade-in, a $100 credit at the Google Store, and a free Google Mini speaker. I paid $400 for the N6P new (Amazon Prime day) so I don't have any bad feelings. I've had every Google phone since the Galaxy and this was the first one to give up on me before I was way past ready to upgrade. With the latest price drops on the P2XL, I would say you can afford to wait a bit and see if they drop further or offer better incentives. Cheers.
Huawei replaced my battery and USB port/daughterboard for free a few months ago (RIGHT before my warranty expired)...but you're right. the phone is painfully slow when playing certain games.
have you seen any good deals on swappa?

Until the 31st (?), Google has a trade in program on pixel 2/XL. 6P that turns on with no screen cracks is giving $144.(https://store.google.com/config/pix...gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CMyK-tbjqNgCFYIkhwodgksAtQ). That leaves a lot but not as much. For about two months, we've been battling that battery deterioration. It's now cutting off at 50% battery. It was a first day Google store purchase, but we're still gonna try Google support since this is a well-known hardware issue. When that fails, we'll have to replace the battery. We have $0. for a new phone at the moment. It was such a great phone----until it wasn't.

I'm moving on to OnePlus 5T. The 6P battery issue have become annoying. I have a replacement battery on the way but lets face it, the Snapdragon 810 is just an inefficient processor and sooner or later I would probably have battery issues again or worse.
I would love to stay with Google (I've owned Nexus 4, 5 & 6P) but the Pixel phone's asking price seems unreasonable vs what I use my smartphone for.
Goodbye to guaranteed software updates & support. I've been spoiled by Google too much in that regard but that's the way it goes sometimes.

FWIW, I agree with everything you've said. Wish I could afford the 5T but glad you can. I just need one more year out of the new battery then a new phone.

I'm moving onto Pixel 2 XL. For the past few months, I've had the strangest issue with my 6p and I can't seem to solve it. The phone will shut off randomly. But it's not completely shut off. I need to press and hold onto the power button twice before i can get it to turn on again. If I leave it in that "shut off" mode, the phone gets warm after some time, so it's almost as if it's in some sort of a suspended state. I know it's not a battery issue because when the phone is turned on again, it's at the same battery percentage. I've tried multiple roms and still had the same issue. I've tried not installing any custom kernels with no luck. The breaking point was when this "shut off" happened overnight and i didn't hear the alarm in the morning. Don't want to deal with it anymore. The Pixel can't be delivered soon enough.
wait for a price drop of pixel 2.
when it goes down to 499$ get it.
