How is the phone working uptil now ? Please share your thoughts. - LeEco Le Max 2 Questions & Answers

I have to buy this phone and I am on a tight budget. Recently there was an offer on flipkart so I decided to go for it and accidentally I went into comment section which was filled with negative review.
My question is:
1) Finger print scanner working good? Even if it takes like 2-3 sec to recognise it's good for me. There many people wrote that it completely stopped working
2) how is the battery life with constant data usage ?
I would really appreciate if you can clear my doubts.
Thanks in advance!

Fingerprint is quite good with 16s August update. It is acceptable now.
Battery life is not so good. But it will last you for a whole day if you use it moderately. (I am sure you won't use it moderately when the phone is new.)
I would rather wait for Google device or go for One Plus 3 as it is slightly better in most respects and has excellent 3rd party ROM support from XDA community.

Well I won't play games on it. Will just use for Facebook, WhatsApp and call. I think it should last me a day easily

Seriously? You can get those tasks done with a 20$ phone... Le Max 2 is a monster with a Antutu score around 138000. With the latest update 16s for x820 there is no issues., the best phone I ever had.

Are you it is'nt the VoLTE HD call setting in Dual Sim & Mobile networks? I had the problem with all my calls disconnect, the issue with that VoLTE HD call is set from factory is that far from all carriers support VoLTE.

Would that be? Cause some parts seems to work just fine... Is this region bound maybe?
But if I force only 2g or 3g instead of 4g, the issue still occur, wouldn't volte automatic should disable?

This phone is a beast, the hardware versus price point is quite competitive. The fingerprint scanner is working fine with the update...though it still misses it maybe 2 times out of ten, meaning i give the fingerprint scanner an 8/10. Battery life is average, for a non-gaming user you can do just about a day. but for a serious gamer and 4G user, about 3/4 of the day or less. the battery for me would be 5/10.
Then there is the issue with the camera. The camera app is crap. it struggles to maintain focus and in video mode during recording it can not auto focus. Using 3rd party apps helps but I feel a firmware update should be made available to address this issue at the core. I would give the camera performance a 6/10.

Which big screen phone can let you gaming all day long?

Shut up, for this money you can't do better. And a big portion of all the negative reviews when the phone came to the market were employees from firms like Xiaomi, Meizu etc. That's how Chinese firms do business, they have no code of conduct.

Fingerprint scanner has its quirks but nothing off-putting at all. It should be better from what I read above in more recent ROMs. Battery honestly is amazing. I can lay this phone down at night and get up the next day and it only has lost a couple of percents. A great step up from my Note 3.

I have the same problem, can't receive calls and can't dial out. When you go to settings -> mobile settings(donno exactly, but you'll find it) just where u see ur sim(s) etc.), you can't change settings when u get called (just call urself and try it out), so the phone DOES receive something. I'm gonna try installing another ROM to see if it fixes the problem, should i update you? Or did you already fix it? Thanks.

Flash cm13 or modify stock rom will solve the problem, God luck!

Hi I have it,
Fingerprint works in 8/10 times, that's not fast 1sc I would say and if he stops working you must do the calibration and it will work again.
Battery, well 5.7 QHD , 3100mah there isn't no magic, I would say 3,5 sot.

Thanks for your positive responses.
I will wait for few more reviews and then will make up my mind.
I'd say it depends where you live.
Pros:
- Battery life. There is not even competition. +2 hours of web browsing, 4 hours of watching movies, 4 hours of playing music, 1 hour of youtube HQ video watching, navigation software for 45min, some sms and calls, some emails. Both SIM cards on, one with 3G. Data connection on all the time.Google, whatsapp, viber, facebook sync on. Wifi was off even. Did all of this in 16 hours of time, and as you see, all of it require screen on and the web browsing+Youtube typically uses a lot of radio power., and ended up with 55% of battery left. My girlfriend on an S3 did about the same and it took out all her battery + again 40% of battery after recharge.
I typically do 1 hour of web browsing, some emails + whatsapp + viber + 1 hour of Youtube video, and an hour of music. In the evening, I have 70-75% left so my biggest problem is to recharge or let it go another day
This was my main reason for buying this phone and so far, it has not let me down.
- Performs well. Not the fastest on the market, but it performs well, stable, applications are fast. I don't use it for games, but I did install Ingress to test, and my performance was not worse than an HTC M8... For the normal use, as you and stympy are planning, it's more than sufficient.
- Price : under $250 is a bargain for what it has to offer you
- Modifications : it's pretty easy to flash your phone with a new ROM
- Magnetic case recognition : it's a stupid little thing, but I got a MOFI magnetic case with it, which automatically turns the screen on/off if you open/close the case (even unlocks it). I got instantly used to it, and love the feature. Only seems to work on stock ROM though...
- Back camera : works well, fast, and takes good quality pictures. Lot of filters in built-in SuperCamera app.
Cons:
- 3G Signal quality. That's why I'm saying it depends on where you live. If it's in a city, and you are almost always there, with good 3G, no problems. But if you go places where the signal coverage is less, then 3G is gone really fast. (I compared to other phones, and while they typically have 2-3 bars on 3G, I'm already falling back to G(Edge). This might be because the Chinese version lacks 900Mhz 3G support, and if I flash a modem with 2100-900Mhz, my second SIM card doesn't work anymore (and not sure if it really does 3G 900).
However, the 2G signal on both SIM1 and SIM2 is holding the same as any other phone I compared it with.
Also, sometimes 3G H+ speed is all of a sudden capped at 30 or 50K/s, switching the data connection off and on again solves it, but it can be annoying. Might be related to my modem version too...
- MTK related issues: this chipset has some issues that can be solved, but you need to be a bit of a tweaker to do it. Mainly GPS and modem require some problem solving. Right now my modem is good enough, and my GPS gets a fix in under 20 seconds, but out of the box, my GPS didn't work well at all, and I had bad call quality.
- ROM support: the device isn't that popular outside China and Russia, so English ROMs are not updated that frequent. KitKat ROM available but unstable. The Chinese ROMs are well maintained and pack a lot of extra features (VIBE, Stock) as compared to ROW, but I don't speak Chinese Coming from an HTC phone, I'm used to a lot of XDA support, frequent CyanogenMod updates and fixes and so on. I might have been spoilt
- Community support : XDA has the basic forums for this phone, but nothing compared to 4PDA. So if you read Russian or Chinese, there is a lot out there. For English speakers, it's hard to find answers to some questions. However, a lot of issues you might encounter are typically chipset issues for MTK6589, and what works for other phones with this chipset, usually also works for the P780.
- Heavy : if you have an S2 right now, and switch to this one, it will feel like a brick in your pocket. You get used to it straight away, but if you pick up another phone like S2 or S3, they feel like they weigh nothing
- Front camera : only 0.3M, and that is really noticeable. Quality of front camera pictures is ..well...bad. Selfies are not worth it, and video chat is ok but was better on my 4 year old HTC phone. People notice that quality is low when video chatting with them.
Interesting software for this phone:
- Keeping my screen on while using the phone (Smart Reading) : standard in VIBE, but on other ROMS, I have Gravity screen which works a lot better actually.
- XPosed+GravityBox support : tweak your phone any way you want
- Lenovo SecureIt : nice features, and although I think I don't need it, it's quite good. Chinese version even better (with built-in ad blocker!), but I don't understand it
- Lenovo PowerManager : great tool for monitoring your power consumption, with a lot of features like freezing apps, and detailed overview and estimations are pretty accurate (I also use GSAM because it gives me better statistics)
- MobileUncle tools : you cannot have this phone without this app. It lets you tweak everything, like GPS settings, Headset volume (because the default max. volume is too silent for me), and so many other settings no other tool gives you access to. It is a must.
- SuperCamera and SuperGallery (built-in) : really great apps, camera has many features and takes great pictures (main camera that is)
Conclusion : if you know what rooting and flashing is, and have no problem doing that, then this phone is awesome. It's an ok phone out of the box, but tweaking it turns it into a great phone. You will probably have to overcome some nasty issues you wouldn't get on an HTC or a Samsung.
If that is ok for you, go for it and you'll not regret it. Given the low price, if it really, really doesn't work out, you're not out $600 at least...
I just love, love, love that I never have to worry about using it a lot and running out of battery. Even after using it to charge my girlfriends S3, there's plenty juicy left
I wish I could thank your post more than once. Thanks a lot for such awesome review :thumbup:
I wanted a phone for my wife which should be hassle free. I have ripped my s2 with custom roms, kernels and modems but wifey doesn't appreciate if I try to do the same on her phone.
There are few issues mentioned by you which would need tweaks and without them it's daily operations will be affected e.g. call quality.
So this phone is a no go for me. Will have to look at Samsung or the sony ones. Moto g is another good option.
Anyways, thanks again for taking time to thoroughly enlighten me. Appreciate it.

Hi, well, I described the worst case scenarios here, and maybe scared you too much
I had my phone 5 minutes and flashed it already, causing a lot of the issues described. I went from Chinese to ROW (almost bricking it in the process btw), and immediately tried to get 900Mhz 3G working, which was problematic.
Right now, my girlfriend is actually jealous of my phone, and whenever she uses it, is loving it. It took me indeed some time to get there, but now it's all good.
ROMs like Life are excellent, and well supported. For me personally, it's not what I was looking for, but maybe for you it's all you need.
Installed Cyanogen om my girlfriends phone, but she hated it, although it worked better and was superior to the stock ROM.
So in terms of buying it for your girlfriend, I'll tell you what my girlfriend (dis)likes:
Pros:
- Big screen that is very good quality
- Nice design
- Magnetic case
- Doing stuff on it all day and have enough battery
- Fast
- 2 SIM cards for calling everybody
- Auto beautify function on camera (not that she needs it, but it's quite amazing how well it works )
- record a call
Cons:
- a bit heavy
- the data connection issues (sometimes when switching from WIFI to data or when data seems capped, you have to switch off/on data and it's annoying)
- the bad front camera for selfies and mirror app for checking makeup and video chatting
- never an excuse to not call me because the battery was dead
As an alternative, if you are really looking into another one, the OnePlus One is being released starting from $300. It's high end hardware (similar to S5 and HTC One), partnered with CyanogenMod, but for a ridiculous low amount of money.Only downside is no SD card, but the 64Gb model is supposed to cost only $50 more...
If I had to choose right now between my P780 and another phone...I'd still choose my P780. Yes, I don't like the 3G being a bit iffy, I don't like the bad front camera, but I love all the rest. And it's cheap. And soon a modem for it might be released that gives excellent 3G results.
Right now, after my modding and flashing, I have a really stable phone (had to reboot it 1x in the last 3 weeks and that was partially my fault ), good call quality, does whatever I want how I want it. It's just a bit more difficult to get to that point...
For me, being able to install different ROMs and battery life are crucial, and I'm happy with it.
Would I recommend it to my girlfriend? Yes and no. Yes because she'll be happy with it, but it's more of a geek phone that you have to hack and maintain a bit more than another model to get/keep it in good shape.
Good luck
As you mentioned it would require some hacking to make it perfect, and that's where my wife won't allow me to touch it. If I was buying it for myself, it would be a different story altogether.

My new redmi note 4!!!

Hello, I received the beast! First impressions very positive,
When the activation wore MIU 7 something and immediately had an upgrade available in 8!
The X20 seems to be doing quite well with the temperatures, I mean although they set kept within reasonable limits the temperature. Also thanks to the guide here on Google play installation forum, and I was able to pass the Google play and the goodies (contacts, calendar, etc.)
I will come back with more details when the handle a couple 2 days .....
It is my first experience with chinese apparatus generally. But I was a holder of the following devices until now: galaxy s, s3, Note 2, S4, LG G2, Note 3, LG G3 - Note 4, Lg G4, LG G5

4. Despite very quick smoothie with exemplary, very good work in MIUI 8 (6.0.1)
5. Very good speaker on the G5 I maybe better. Sound from the headphones is also very clear and powerful (tested with headphones gavio metallon)
6. Display good (not sure amoled) with excellent brightness! viewing angles simply good.
7. The fingerprint lightning fast, more or less like the LG G5
8. Google play had to spend manually (easily of course)
9. The device has anglokineziki rom.
10. It charges very fast (not just counted time will come back)
11. I placed the first day nova launcher pro (all my devices that I wear always), which I can say sat very well, and what I mean? In G5 I eg with nova launcher there is a conflict with the locking device and the fingerprint unlock, in redmi note 4 not encountered any problems, do not expect .......
12. Now to the issue of cpu temperatures, the temperature that can do with mobile, keep very reasonable! I did not expect you to read the earlier X10.

Question: How is active battery life? Standby drain? Anything out of the ordinary with the X20? Since the first device with the X20 (ZOPO Speed 8) was so bad with it, I'm worried about EVERY device with the X20.

Great to hear. Turns out X20 isn't so bad after all!
Finally managed to get google play The battery life is great, only thing is that it charges pretty slowly but that could be because I'm using my old xiaomi plug which is lower output. Haven't had any problems so far but its top early to tell. Now I just need to wait for my bootloader to be unlocked
Been using it for a day now, managed to get pkay store and so far so good. Only thing is that when im watching videos on youtube or using CM browser sometimes the app will just close randomly. Not a big problem but it gets annoying when it happens often. Anyone else experiencing this as well?
Hi,
Tell me please does the Redmi Note 4 have NFC support? Some websites say yes, some say no.
Thanks
I get around 5 hours screen on time with my rmn4 . Great device !
No NFC..... Anyone know how to unlock bootloader?

Brother same here everything is closing automatically and frequently.. Did you get any solution.
Ive tweaked the permissions, power saving apps, restrictions, ect...Everything I found that could be possible, and I still get apps automatically shutting down. Even the ones I've locked into memory. I think there's some big bugs with Miui 8 so far, and needs a little polishing.

Same. I tried tweaking LMK values too. I actually get massive slow-downs now, I need to regularly clean memory (even if I only have Chrome open since cleaning memory before - Chrome itself will slow down and lag really badly).
Hope it's fixed soon. By three year old Xperia Z runs MIUI better than this lol...

Agreed, I hope it is fixed soon too. I was very excited to finally have an official MIUI device, but this runs like I'm in a beta program.
Just to give a feedback about this phone. I've been using it for 3 days now.
I'm not that kind of person that gives 5* review easily, but THIS PHONE IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Best xiaomi buy ever, and MIUI 8 is impressive as well.
Well done Xiaomi!

What's your opinion of the Umi Z Pro???

I just had my Moto g4 plus 64 stolen, I've used Moto G' for a few years now and they're brilliant, running stock android and no need to root.
I just ordered an unique z pro from eBay after watching a few YouTube reviews who all thought the phone was brilliant, now after looking on this forum there are a few saying do not buy.
If you have one, are you happy with it with official software? (I don't plan on routing a new phone)
I haven't receive it yet and am beginning to regret the purchase so it may have to go back!
I was looking at the Moto Z play but this is £130 cheeper.
I received mine from Gearbest five days ago. I also read all forum topics and was skeptic about the phone, even thou made a video of unpacking it.
First of all - the phone is absolutely brilliant - I have NONE of all problems people talking here: battery life is good - more than 5 hours with display switched on, apps orientation is fine, display is perfect - no scratches or anything else, my SD card working just perfect.
I got the phone with V3.01_20170321 ROM, 2 days ago it receives the v.3.01_20170408 as OTA update - NO problems at all.
Charging is slow, even using standard charger (I usually charge my phones while they are connected to PC).
Sound of the speakers is gorgeous, loud enough.
The phone is using pure Android which is good.
The camera is simply outstanding.
Also NO problems with Wi-Fi or 4G(LTE) - in my country Bulgaria all mobile operators are using 1800MHz for 4G. The coverage and the signal is on a maximum level.
For the money I've paid - this phone is super!
Thanks, have you got a link to your video?
I didn't upload it. The video is for my personal use - in case something wasn't OK when I got it, it would be easier to claim for money back or replace the phone.
More or less I can report the same. So far after a week, I have no hardware or software issue with the phone. Seems to be working as advertised. The only issue I had was with a few applications which simply refuse to run, but I didn't dig further to see why they FC. If intending to run it with no root and unmodified they it should be perfectly fine. Even though the os is AOSP based, I'd still prefer to have the possibility to run anything I'd like, such as Lineage for example. When it comes to charging, Im not sure what should be classified as slow or fast, but I think the phone charges in about an hour if I'm not mistaken. And one thing I'd like to see improved is the final quality of photos, since in the preview everything seems sharp and detailed but the captured photos seem somewhat pixelated for my taste but on the other hand I haven't explored that much the settings. In general it appears to be a good phone.
I have my Phone since a Week.
Very good sound
Good screen(thank's to Sharp! Real good Japanese quality)
The hardware is perfect
I received the Phone with V 3.01_20170321
I had some problems with the OTA Update 3.01_20170408:
- had to reset and recalibrate the gravity and compass sensors. Easy to do
- I had more problems with the radio 3G/4G. It lost a lot of times the GPRS connections and the modem had very big difficulties to reconnect it back on network. I can partially understand, my provider share his networks and frequencies with an other provider. But no excuse for Umi(digi ) i had never problems with other phones. Umi have to follow clearly the established protocols and do more tests !!
I reinstalled the firmware with flashtool with full formating. Since, it seems ok.
In all cases, I'll waiting a few days before I authorize the upgrade on Nougat(as soon it coming )
Some good non-sponsored reviews: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6UAkAU02cU&t=0s

I think those cover the bases pretty well.
One note is that the wifi radio is worse than my nexus 4 which is pretty sad. Wifi is really important.
Overall I'm happy with my $234 phone but it's definitely not the 'best budget phone.'
Disappointed with the Camera
I have a Nexus 6P and in comparison to it, Umi Z Pro fails in every aspect in terms of capturing images.
The camera on Z Pro is quick and it doesn't have similar focus as 6P.
But the image quality is okay, they hyped the phone for camera but I think that's not what they implemented.
Built quality is excellent, for a phone of this budget and stock android experience is a plus, no bloatware is a bonus.
I bought the phone regardless, my only regret is I can't get 4G data, as the bands are not supported.

4G works just fine so it's supported

I have had one for about 2 months and I can't see why others are saying not to buy one.
It is well made, reminds me of a galaxy edge in its design. I have never had any software problems with it. The screen is nice and it is responsive.
The 4g in my area is hit and miss, and the UMI z Pro doesn't do as well as my previous phone (Lg G3) for getting a 4g signal, but it drops to using 3g where the 4g signal is weak so not really an issue. I would say that that is the only negative thing I could say about it, but it is no deal breaker. Remember that it costs hundreds less than Samsung, LG etc's flagships, and in my opinion, it is well worth buying.
I am looking forward to the android 7.0 update, which should be soon.
Enjoy your phone and don't worry about making a bad purchase.
Just ordered...GearBest just shipped it from EUwarehouse to replace my worn down S4active

I received my Z Pro about 4 weeks ago.
The first impression is very good.
Super design and the hardware is top for this price class.
So far (almost) everything works perfectly.
The camera still has certain weaknesses.
That was with my UMI Super already so.
The focus does not seem to work properly.
The photos are very blurred/cloudy.
Only in bokeh mode the photos are good.
I hope UMIDIGI finds a solution and fixes this problem with one of the next updates.
Okay...got mine yesterday....
First impressions are good, but without making any changes to the stock ROM some apps are not working (maybe CPU or ROM related, i have to figure that one out in the coming days....)
For instance Firefox Browser didn't work for me (FC) but uninstall and reinstall seemed to do the trick. Also MX-player Pro tells me: 'component files are corrupted or android internal modules are not compatible with current version'.
ANother thing is that i can't manage to get it working with my Samsung Gear S watch ...but i think i'll find a way after some research...

Ulefone Power 3s

Heys guys,
I bought this phone some days ago and I'm still waiting for it. In the meantime, I've been searching and I did find almost no forums or threads regarding it. Of course it's not the best smartphone out there but still looks something crazy for as less as 150€.
What do you guys think?
Any customs ROM's outhere? They say in the website that Ulefone Power 3S comes with Oreo but it's not true. At least, for now.
The phone is amazing. But I'm bothered by device encryption. Can not be turned off.

Is that the reason why there are no customs ROMs?
I'm still waiting for mine to arrive from banggood. There are little reviews on this phone and I'm afraid that I didn't choose the correct phone (I own an Redmi Pro), if you know what I mean.
So I got my hands on this device last Thursday. So far, I'm pretty happy about it but there are a few things that are annoying me:
- My phone is connected to my 5Ghz wi-fi and my bandwith is 200Mbps up&down. On my Ulefone, I can't get more that 60 down and 80 up. Any ideias why? I have my router near my room and so it's not that far. The link speed on the wi-fi settings shows speeds of 135Mb. I tried to switch channels and frequency on my router and still nothing.
I've tried speedtest on my Leeco several times, next to my Ulefone, and the speeds are close to 200Mbps.
- There is no option to turn off quick charging.
- I noticed a litlle bit of lag on some apps but nothing special;
- Secondary cameras look fake. I mean, I've tried and put my finger in front of them and nothings happens. Maybe with the release of Oreo will they work? Hum, don't know...
- So far there are almost no supports forums or custom rom's or whatever but its a new phone.
On the other hand, battery life is amazing so far. Almost 2 days and frequently using apps like youtube, twitch, facebook, maps, etc... I like it.
Altought it's kinda fat, it suits your hand nicely.
The screen bright and colors are amazing...
But I don't know if I bought the wrong phone... I had a Xiaomi Redmi Pro before and I was about to buy Redmi 5 Plus for almost the same price of the Ulefone. (+/- 150€) but... I don't know. I wanted to try something different.
Hope I don't regret it in the future.

Hey. Got the phone on last friday. There are few minor downsides, but for cheap chinese phone, these are fair.
The LCD is bright and has nice colors, doesn´t lag/stutter much, is compact and sleek, and the battery life is very good. Tortured it with 18:30 ScreenOnTime with mixed usage (Browsing, time measurement, MP3 playing, Youtube vids playing, GPS and more) Wifi most of the time ON, brightness between 20% and 80%, I´d say medium brightness was 33-40% during the test period. If I really tried to squeeze longer time from it, saving power, it would do over 20h. Not bad. Camera seems to do better job when set at native resolution, and is medicore these days. But focusing is quite good and fast. I´m happy for what I got for the price. I only became gradually more and more power hungry, and I would like to see more. Hope you enjoy yours.
//Just measured Geekbencg battery score (3 hours test) at 7469 points. Killer score for what it is. I might do the full test soon. Doesn´t want to upload though.

Did you tested your WiFi speeds?
I guess the WiFi range of the phone is not the best too. I got better WiFi reception when connected to my 2,4Ghz network than my 5Ghz and the router is the same.
Happens as well cellular data is turned off when I receive or make a call. I guess it is not normal, is it?
There are a few things that I hope they will fix with the release of Oreo. God knows when they will release it...

Pretty simple. Connect your phone to a 5Ghz Wifi network (if you have one), download "speedtest" app from Play Store and then click "Test".
To see the link speed from your phone to your wifi, just go wifi settings, press on top of the network you're connect to and it will show some info including "link speed".

I own a Leeco le Pro 3 as my main phone and the Power 3S as a secondary one.
I already bought the Ulefone with that idea in mind. Apart from the battery and the good quality of the screen, it does not stand out especially in anything. In particular, the overall performance is only medium, I expected something better even for a phone of its price.
Another negative aspect is the lack of devs interested in building custom ROMs for this device (not only for its limited market success but mainly for the lack of support from the manufacturer, a problem when you buy a quite exotic brand like Ulefone)
Speaking about WiFi, the reason for buying my Leeco Le Pro 3 was precisely the high quality of the WiFi. I read it in a specialized review. Normally, the reviews are limited to saying that your mobile is compatible with WiFi ac and don't bother making real tests. That's why it struck me that the reviewer insisted so much on the quality of the Leeco WiFi. It turned out to be true. It is possible to get the maximum speed of your connection at 15 meters from the router.
As for the Power 3s, with a connection of 300 Mbs at home I rarely approach 160Mbs. And I usually have speeds of 100-120Mbs (while with the Leeco I even exceed the 300Mbs).
But do not torture yourself thinking that only happens with the Power 3S. I already had a similar poor WiFi experience with brands like Vernee (Mars Pro) and Xiaomi (Redmi note 3 Pro)
I do not know the reason and raising the question in any forum (as I did naively) is useless. What people will tell you is that it depends on the saturation of the channels in the 5Ghz band in your area and ask you to switch channels (as if the WiFi congestion only affected the Power 3S but not the Le Pro 3).
In my opinion, it must be a simple matter of quality of the WiFi circuitry (my Leeco has several WiFi antennas instead of one). Saying that you have WiFi ac phone means apparently nothing given the differences in speed between devices in the same environment and under the same circumstances.
Greetings from Madrid and sorry for any English mistake

Well, so far and after a few days of use, I'm pretty content with what I bought. We have to keep in mind that it's a phone with a cost of +- 140€ and, for this value, I think it's pretty good. The battery lasts 2,5 days using twitch, facebook, etc so it's really good. Cameras are ok (i've seen better, i've seen worse) but overall they are good.
Concerning wifi, well... you are right. No need to have 5Ghz if speeds are approximately the same as 2,4Ghz.
The only thing I'm sad it's, as you say, the lack of customs ROM's so far. And from what i can tell, there will be no customs roms in the near future. Maybe with the release of oreo?! But then again, only god knows when ulefone will release it.
Good news on the way.

How's the poco f1 now in Q3 2019?

What's the general feel on the phone - solid?
How's the current development - kernels for miui?
Any common defects in this line ?
How much slower is it than 855 in gpu?
Is it a good option for ~$230-$250 (6/128) ?
if u r not into the looks of the phone or u r the guy who uses back covers....and can live with average display...this is still the best phone under 250$...and xiaomi still giving updates on security patch and other bug fixes and miui updates....
1. it feels solid the build quality is really good. its little bit heavier than otherr phone but once u get used to this phone the weight will not bother u much..i get 6 hours of sot on average it will last whole day...i am facing no defects till now...it is quite slower than 855 but difference is not much considering the price difference of this and the k20 pro...

I recently bought it and very satisfied. Exceeds expectations. I see people are having touch screen defects, I don't have, I live in eastern Europe and I have warranty for two years, if something goes back I give it to the warranty service while they provide replacement during the service period. I hope this won't happen but yeah, for the price the phone is gold. Powerful, stable, bright and colorful display. People always talk about phone displays like they even understand color science or work on the phone to color grade movies. I recommend the phone and if there is touch issues, test before u buy the unit.

xiaomi stores sells you the phone in a sealed box, you cant test before you buy and the official warranty can sometimes be a joke when the authorized service center are a bunch of amateurs.
and by the way,my unit worked fine for more than 6 months and am 80% sure my touch problem is software related but xiaomi just dont have the will to fix it!!

i,ve been living in a nightmare for the past 3 weeks since the touch issues started out of nowhere....i read and commented in every thread that discussed touch issues,kernels.....etc on xda and i am almost sure its a software issue that may have been introduced (god knows why).
DONT invest money in xiaomi(my old xiaomi mi max 1 touch is way better than poco f1).....they make phones with much less quality everyday.....just a tech/spec race.

Seems feedback is all over the place. So I speak for myself, and for a friend who bought the pocophone as well (both bought in Belgium):
- really solid battery life
- MIUI os is stable enough (10.3.6.0), no major bugs, although not on the level of f.e. Samsung's UI.
- screen is below average, but that we knew upfront
- performance is the best selling point for this thing. It is fast, and smooth
- no touch issues
- no screen bleed issues
- ridiculously low price for the hardware used
- camera is pretty good, but search XDA for the gcam adaptation. It pulls the most from the sensor.
- screen is scratch resistant for now (own it for a few months without screen protector)
- the soft case that comes with the phone is kinda cheap, but does the trick
- it charges fast
- Xiaomi was a kind of a gamble for me as they are not well known for swift updates and long term maintenance. But I can always unlock the bootloader and install an aosp version such as pixel experience. For now, they come with regular updates but always are 2month behind (so now in August we have the June security update.
- One intermittent issue with Bluetooth (in combination with my mercedes): sometimes audio stutters for a second. Deactivating bluetooth and reactivating it on the phone solves it and we're good again for a few weeks.
All in all: a really good phone if you don't use it in very bright outside conditions (again: screen is below average). I come from a Samsung S7 edge, and I only miss it's high res amoled screen to an extent. The latter is undeniably better in color representation and brightness.
You want a better screen for the same price, try a Samsung A40. But performance and battery life will take a severe hit.
Also, people tend to compare them to equally performant smartphones, but they are typically in another price range. Don't do that, compare apples to apples and decide: you want the performance, or you want a nice screen / fancy looking smartphone?
Nothing in the same price range comes close to it

Agreed, have had the phone since March this year and have had none of the issues that keep getting mentioned on various Pocophone threads. This phone for me is perfect on MIUI 10.3.6.0 Global Stable for my use. Some YouTube, Facebook, Netflix and usually an hour of PUBG and/or Blades daily and normal texting/WhatsApp and calls. Usually have 30% battery left by bedtime.

Had mine about a month, love it.
Coming from an HTC U12 which had useless buttons and a display that you can't see in sunshine I tried an Exynos S10e which could not hold a phone call for any length of time. Personally I couldn't find anything else on the market that wasn't huge that had a flagship SOC (albeit last years), SD card slot, headphone jack and unlockable bootloader.
Haven't had any of the issues others have, mine is a global version bought in the UK but I had to get rid of MIUI, so there is plenty of AOSP roms to try.
Fwiw I've settled on AOSiP and arter97 kernel and get 6-8 hours SOT and a phone that keeps calls when I'm driving around.
The only downside is the camera is just about fine.

Did you try gcam .apk ? You just install it and it levels up the camera experience by miles! Check it out on a thread in here!

Yep! Coming from an HTC though and missing OIS the Xiaomi is still second place. For the price though its great!
There is Oneplus rom port for Poco F1. I tried it's pretty nice, faster, smoother and touch is better/sharper, battery about the same as use Miui rom (I use vendor-firmware 9.6.27 for Oneplus rom)
I am from India and I can tell that the phone launched (6, 64) at ₹21000.
Now in the Flipkart sale you can get it at 16.5k.
I myself have ordered it today.
One of the main reasons to buy this phone is that it has excellent development support at xda community and unlocking the bootloader won't void your warranty. So If you are into custom ROMs this is best flagship level budget device.
Myself being a custom ROM enthusiast, I decided to go with it.
So Yes even today this is great value for money phone despite it lacks few things like it is really ugly looking because of that huge notch and considering all new even budget phones are coming with the drop notch or full screen display, this is a trade-off.
i'd say go for it its worth the price, i've had it for around 4-6 months with no issues, im coming from a galaxy s6 and honestly the display isn't that bad compared to it the only thing i noticed is that the galaxy s6 is like 50-80% brighter but you'll notice it only if your using your phone outside.
