Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is CyanogenMod?
CyanogenMod (/sɪˈænoʊdʒəŋmäd/) is a customized, aftermarket firmware distribution for select Android devices.
Intended as a replacement for the software (also known as the "firmware" or "ROM") that comes factory installed on your device, CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project – the same base software used in all Android devices. However, CyanogenMod offers several benefits over the pre-installed firmware, including vastly flexible interface and customization, a wider set of new features, and sometimes significant improvements in performance. (From the Cyanogenmod Wiki)
How do I unlock my bootloader, root the Nexus 10, and install a custom recovery?
The easiest way to unlock your bootloader, gain root access, and install a custom recovery is to use one of the Nexus 10 toolkit's either mskip's Nexus 10 Toolkit, WugFresh's Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit, or for Linux users tatelucas's Universal Nexus Linux Toolkit.
What are nightly builds?
A nightly build is a neutral build that takes place automatically. These typically take place when no one is likely to be working in the office so that there are no changes to the source code during the build. The results of the build are inspected by the arriving programmers, who generally place a priority on ensuring the recent changes to the source code have not broken the build process or functionality of the software. (From Wikipedia Nightly Builds article)
What are Google Apps? And where can I get them?
Google Apps contain the proprietary Google applications that come pre-installed with most android devices. Due to licensing restrictions, these apps cannot come pre-installed with CyanogenMod and must be installed separately. CyanogenMod does not require Google Apps to function properly, however, to take full advantage of the Android system, Google Apps are recommended. (From the Cyanogenmod Wiki)
You can get the latest Google Apps for Cyanogenmod 10.1 here and choosing Cyanogenmod 10.1 for the Google App version.
How can I find more about Cyanogenmod?
You can find out more information about Cyanogenmod by visiting there website at www.cyanogenmod.org and/or by checking out there wiki at http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org.

Wouldn't this package be better? Today's nightly is based on 4.2.1, and this particular gapps says:
All APKs updated to 4.2.0 versions, where applicable.

Thanks I will update the original post accordingly.

Those without sound, have you tried turning the sound down and on again? I know I had that issue with my S3.

There is a new nightly that fixed my sound issue...
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk HD

There was a build system mix up that caused audio not to work on the initial nightly. The new version that is up now has working sound. There are still a few odds and ends that didn't make it into this nightly. These should make it in the next day or so.

anyone try Bluetooth keyboard yet?

Anyone else's apps getting cut off on the bottom bar like mine? Like chrome.

Is this version based on 4.2.1 or 4.2?

CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.4 (Kit Kat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
Your warranty is now void.
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. Your changelog is whatever was merged into gerrit. Device-specific changes on my GitHub .
Instructions:
First time flashing CyanogenMod 11.0 your device, or coming from another ROM?
Download the zip(s).
Optional: adb backup
Fastboot oem unlock > fastboot flash recovery recovery.img.
Perform a NANDroid backup of your current ROM.
Wipe data & cache partitions of your device (required when coming from stock!).

We ask all the regular contributors here to please answer the "xxx is broken" or "yyy force closes" statements without an attached logcat with something like "LOGCAT or it didn't happen"
Feel free to be creative but DO NOT respond with wipe cache/clear data or any other attempted solution before the reporting user has taken the trouble to actually try to help solve the problem (e.g. by attaching a logcat, detailed steps to reproduce etc.).
We need to force more discipline in how issues are reported which will help us all find and squash bugs that may exist.
Just clearing data etc. may in fact cause us to never find the bug that caused the issue and just makes for lazy users.
The CyanogenMod team would like to thank everyone involved in helping with testing, coding, debugging & documenting! Enjoy!
Thanks to romracer for doing initial CM work
oh yeah CM on nexus 5, cant wait till cm and pa to fully kick off
Boot will finish soon, will report back anything I find
Booted just fine, no long boot time and no FC on keyboard when setting up.
Downloading Gaaps now and will continue to report anything I find.
So far so good.
Edit: USB Storage is still borked.

That's what I meant, sorry.
Although it's not only APK related.
It doesn't find pictures, can't download anything from browser, etc.
File Manager FCs as well as when you click on Apps in the Settings menu.
First find: we have the network activity Icons back in statusbar for WIFI and Network - yay.
Restoring apps, no FCs, nothing, all looking good so far.
EDIT: when trying to assign ringtone, media crashed (probably related to the storage issue)

So, 5 mins in, here are my initial finds:
- themes work
- telephony/WLAN/GPS all works
- Any apps or media related to storage crashes (obviously)
- transparency for lockscreen nav and sysbar not there yet.
daily driver? yes, when storage is available

Types of Releases:
MoKee OpenSource has 4 kinds of releases: official release, beta, nightlies, and unofficial builds.
Official release: This version is tested throughly by developers and users, so it is the most stable build
Beta: When a device is newly added, there will be beta versions for testing, but there might be unknown bugs and problems
Nightlies: Nightlies are compiled automatically by servers, so it will have the latest features but beware of uncompleted works
Unofficial builds: These builds are compiled from source or ported by non MoKee developers
Official Releases:
MoKee Open Source supports many devices, but the developers may not have all devices in hand, so if there are device maintainers that can help out, the official releases will be decided by them, MoKee Open Source will only maintain the nightlies to ensure the usability of the ROM. However, for devices with no device maintainers, MoKee Open Source will decide when to release official builds or nightlies. Therefore, if you have a device maintainer, please get the official releases from your respective device maintainer's thread or nightlies from MoKee Open Source.

If you mod, change, or alter the ROM from original flash (kernels apps tweaks) please report any issues in their correct thread.

I Hope you enjoy

Check your playstore app please? I flashed again after everything was uploaded to make sure I would get the same results and the store was missing. The OP has been updated to the working gapps now. Sorry for any errors you may get with that download. Nothing major just missing the store app. Lol major enough I guess but not enough to mess up anything.
Edit. I have recently read things about Mokee having adware in it. I can confirm that adaway has not found anything in this rom. I will examine this more in other aspects as well.

I am going to upload a version without all of the chinese apps included in it. I hope you enjoy. I've been so busy and haven't played around a whole lot with this yet but so far it seems stable enough for a DD. I'll look into the camera, haven't even took any pics or video yet but it also has screen record in the power menu. It's sett to off by default & I don't know if it works yet.
Thanks for the ROM. Will try it out tonight. Our phones will never die...

Don't flash that one, it's not for the SGH-i717. If it doesn't end in quincyatt.zip it's not for our phone and could conceivably brick it. OP just linked to the wrong rom I think. We'll just have to wait for verification. :good:

[D802][ROM][5.0.0][LRX21M] CyanogenMod 12.0 Unofficial - [Nightly][12112014]

Hi everyone,
I am proud to present my unofficial nightly build of CyanogenMod 12.0 for the LG G2 (D802).
Rom informations:
CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 5.0, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
What works:
Audio
Bluetooth
Camera
Display
Input
Lights (brightness controll + leds)
Radio (RIL, making and receiving calls)
Storage (mount the device to computer etc.)
Sensors
Viberator
Wifi
Not working:
Double Tap to Wake (There is a new function though "Lift to Wake" which is standard on, you can find the switch for this option in Settings -> Display)
Media (Some report music playback working, but movie playback broken (confirmed by me as well)
Root (Not yet implemented in the rom by CyanogenMod, a workaround is flashing a SU package through recovery)

CM12.0 Installation Guide
Note: CM for LG G2 (D802) is provided with no warranty. You are installing this software at your own risk. You may be violating your warranty.
Download CM12.0 and gapps zips and put them on the "Internal Memory".
20141112 CyanogenMod 12 Unofficial Nightly Release [EOL]: Links no more available. I'm not allowed to release public builds of this.
20141107 GApps: (DL from Basketbuild.com) (Credits: drewwalton19216801)
Before you install CM11.0: Preparation (First three are optional. If you want to start fresh, these can be skipped)
Install AppBak from Market, run it and save a list of all your apps.
Install SMS Backup and Restore from Market, run it and backup your SMS history.
Install Call Logs Backup and Restore from Market, run it and backup your call log history.
Boot into recovery. Make a full backup. You will need this backup later if you decide to go back to your previous ROM and data.
WARNING: Many apps will Force Close crash if you restore data from a previous ROM.
Install
Wipe data and cache.
Flash update*.zip.
Flash gapps*.zip.
Reboot phone.
After you setup your Google account, reinstall the three apps from Market in order to restore most of your apps, call log and SMS history.
WARNING: Do not restore backup data of system apps!
Note:In this rom I used the V20G Baseband. I think this is a requisite in using this rom.
Upgrades
Upgrades from previous versions of CM12.0 are the same process as install, except you do not need to wipe anything. Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to even wipe cache and dalvik-cache when upgrading between CM11.0 versions. You only need to wipe if you are doing a major upgrade, switching to a different ROM entirely, or attempting to fix bugs caused by bad backups or corrupt app data.

I don't know how other recovery versions react to this build, but I think if you have a recent recovery build of either CWM or TWRP you should be fine.

Do we have to flash CM11 first and then to this?
₪LG G2₪
from OP: Note: CM for Galaxy S Plus is provided with no warranty. You are installing this software at your own risk. You may be violating your warranty.
Am I right to think this was a typo or something?

No you don't have to, you can also fresh install it on the device but then you have to use the installation instructions from the first thread.
I included install as well as upgrade instructions.

This is simply copied from another thread.
In order not to write the whole text.
He changed only the relevant data.
The one with the name he must have forgotten.

Sorry it was a typo indeed, I copied some stuff over from another thread so the lay-out would be build up in a sensefull way. Forgot to change it in there. Thanks for spotting it.
At the moment found another filehosting (mediafire) which allows me to upload my full CM12.0 build.
Currently I'm uploading it as we speak and will post it in OP when it's finished.
My upload speed unfortunately isn't very high so I expect it to take about half an hour to get it up.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Update: Uploading of the mirror has finished. The MediaFire link is available in the OP thread.
Greetings PsychoGame

Thank you for this. I'll test it out.
I just wanted to know which recovery I should be using to flash this. I'm currently using Philz touch 6.57.9 and it has no problem whatsoever for kitkat roms. Should I change to TWRP for this rom?
And what is the difference between your Cm 12 and brothaedhung's Cm 12?
Thank you

1st question: If your recovery has SELinux support i believe it will work fine. I'm personally using TWRP 2.8.2.0. from @brothaedhung.
2nd question: according to his OP, his is a mako based device tree. I'm using the official gproj device/kernel trees provided by CyanogenMod. When official nightlies begin, mine will be identical to the official nightlies.
Thanks - RJ

Right. I think I should start using twrp too as it seems that support for cwm has ended and many roms in the future might not fully support it.
Anyway thanks a lot for still developing for our awesome optimus g. You guys are amazing.
@rjwil1086 : thanks for bringing proj based cm12, will try soon, as i remember last build I tried was LS LP based on gproj, but in that build some games loose colors and lot of graphical glitches.
also, will you please update build to latest changes as I can see updated common and kernel trees in cm.

Thank you for the beta CM-12. I flashed the TWRP, ROM, GAPPS and Supersu 2.37 update and the system is working very well, almost as good as my previous CM-11 nightly. Your Thumbnail indicates excellent battery life. I’m going to give the CM-12 a few days to see if I can get the same performance. Your CM-12 handles autorotation and camera w/o problem. I plan to check out Bluetooth and MHL this evening. I was also able to re-install CM-11 Apollo music player but DSPManager persistently stopped. I will only return to CM-11 if the battery drain persists. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I bet those packages were removed from the official repo because of incompatibility issues. I'm sure they'll add them back once they are updated unless they are phasing them out. I know they added audiofx. I guess it is replacing dspmanager.
Pleased to report both mhl and bluetooth work w/o problem. I link to a keyboard and mouse via bluetooth and to monitor via mhl. Sometimes I use my LGOG as a desktop. I got the idea from this blog:

In the first post.
anyone able to play subway surfers, skyforce 2014 games ?
with every gproj based roms, I always gets black screen or one single color screen..
this screen from subway surfers..
Awesome, so far
This is a great rom, it feels so solid. The only issue I am having is bluetooth, it doesn't recognize any bluetooth devices in the area. GPS connects quickly, and the camera (Google) is great.

I am sorry I was wrong about my GPS working, it isn't. My bad...
Dirty flashed 12/17 build and no problems. I disabled Emergency Broadcasts and battery usage flatlined. I will continue to monitor.
Rebooted and battery usage returned to normal.

Paranoid Android 2016

Gyus, a new ROM for our device appeared, AOSPA is BACK!
This was taken form their Google+ profile page.
"We are launching brand spanking fresh. All new features. New team members. New everything and we have made sure that everything that we are releasing has been polished to our best.
The main features and enhancements that you will probably end up noticing are our custom Quick Settings tile reordering functionality, floating window support, immersive mode, the new on-the-spot interface and CM Theme Engine.
Quick Settings tiles can be managed with ease - you can reorder the tiles by simply long pressing them, remove them by dropping them in the trash bin and add them back in from the add panel. The hidden tiles will be out of your way when checking the notifications but will still be usable from the add panel without any hassles if you want to do that all of a sudden.
You can make an application float either by long pressing a notification and tapping the floating button or by tapping the floating button for the application in the recents list. Additionally, you can make peeking (heads-up) notifications open floating windows by enabling that behavior in the "Floating peek" tile.
Those are not the only changes and features we have added. There are a variety of improvements to CAF devices (OnePlus, OPPO and others) which add custom kernels, advanced gesture and buttons control and more to provide a great experience on those devices. Of course we have spent a lot of attention on making all the visual details look right and on making all the functionality work right.
Over the months we have gained a bunch of new team members. We are now ready for all varieties of work - be it low level, aesthetics, user experience, motion design, testing or anything in-between. What we strive for is the best and we are stronger than ever to reach that.
On Paranoid Android 2016 launch we are supporting popular Nexus devices (6P, 5X, 6, 5, 4, 7 2013, 9) and the OnePlus family (One, 2, X) along with some Sony devices. The lineup is this way to make sure we release the best possible experience on all the devices we release for. No compromises, pure greatness.
We highly recommend everyone to use OpenGapps full version (do not use stock). Nexus 6P users need to make sure their vendor partitions are up-to-date (6.0.1). Our Nexus 5X builds come with a prebuilt vendor image so no worries for you folks!
There is more to come in #aospa2016 but for now, grab your builds at http://get.aospa.co/ and #stayparanoid!"

OnePlus 2 AOSPA ROM
UPDATE:
"We highly recommend everyone to use BANKS GApps package (hold off on OpenGapps for now, we have heard some complaints)."
cool
Paranoid remember me old times, one of the best roms, I go test son. Thanks
Doesn't seem to work, at least with MM firmware, bootloops when starting boot animation.
EDIT: Fixed. Paranoid android attempts to backup and replace system apps from your current rom, maybe due to exposed or previous rom apps incompatibilities, these system apps were causing the bootloops. Formatting /system partition with TWRP before flashing the rom solved.
I get stuck on boot logo, flashed zip and opengapps full. What am I doing wrong?
coming from temasek and stuck at boot logo. anyone know if we need to flash stock rom first?
Use twrp 3.0.2-0, I went from oos 3.0.2, to PA and back no issues, rom is lightning fast only thing I didn't like was not being able to use capacitive keys to turn screen off

Thanks for that, I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working for some people as I always format system before flashing. Here are some screenshots.

It's very stable, for me theme manager is force closing, it could be due to my DPI change though.
They have made changes to the ramdisk, custom kernels aren't working
