XAP Files on my Lumia - Nokia Lumia 920

Hey guys,
I know there's another XAP Thread here going around, but I have a different question.
So, btt, since 2 weeks I have my sexy N920 and I'm pretty satisfied with it.
Yesterday I've registered a WP8 Dev Account and tried to push .xap files on my device (with the official tool and the device is already registered), but it keep saying 'Unable to deploy .xap file'.
Somebody have a reason for that?
Thanks & BR.
Sent from my Nokia Lumia 920 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

It should given you some error code so we could look into what might be the reason the phone rejects your XAP files.
What XAPs are you trying to deploy?

Problem with LUMIA 800 - the phone is reseting itself

Hello all,
Not a great first post, but I have a problem, that I cannot solve myself.
I bought LUMIA 800 from a guy on ebay, really good offer(ofcourse), the phone was in good condition, all functioning. Checked the IMEI - not stollen. After taking it home, I noticed that I cannot log into microsoft live, facebook and twitter, from the add new account menu. It keeps giving me - there is an error, please try again later. However, day after that, the phone gives me a message - this demo phone is going to be reset. After that reboots, with all my data formated and starts installing content, like some demo contacts, messages and etc. Also a promo video is played, while I`m loading it.
So, in short - is there a way to get that phone to function normally? I tried both formats, from the menu and with the 3 buttons, it always starts loading the demo contacts and etc.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Pavel
ok, did my homework and searched the forums. I will try with standart debranding method, hope it works.
you can flash it using NCS (Nokia Care Suite). I will upload a handy tool for you. wait a moment....
here you can download the tools: http://www.multiupload.nl/91Y8NK6L7E
greatly appreciated Tim! thank you
Hi,
I also got one of those demophones and I tried Tim's method but When I do Step: 20 and Step: 21 I do not see the newer firmware there.
The line where it should be is plank.
I have downloaded firmware from navifirmplus and place it to that exact place what it is on Tim's document: C:\ProgramData\Nokia\Packages\Products\RM-801 without any subfolders.
But on my PC I had to make that products folder too, there was none when I first time navigate to that folder, I check File -> setting from product support tool for store and there that folder is right but I do not see that newer firmware, so can anyone help?
you must run the applications under Administrative rights. so right click on the NCS and click: "Run as Administrator"
otherwise the program doesn't have access to the c:\programdata\......
most accounts have administrator rights, but if you have UAC (userAccountControll) enabled on your computer than the error that you describe will come.
Hi tim!
I tried with administrative rights, now effect, still do not show "new software version"
Does that Product Code have to be same on downloaded firmware and that it is already on phone? caude in phone I have 059N394 and firmware I downloaded is 059N341
You solved your own problem ;-).
yes that's the issue, make the productcode that you downloaded the same as the productcode of your phone, and it will work.
in NaviFirm there is not a code with "059N394", I would download the firmware that is applicable to my country and color, and most matching with the productcode of the phone.
sorry for my bad english....
Please hit the "Thanks" button if I helped you....
Thanks! ur a MAN!!!
It worked!!
Please have you got someone firmware NOKIA LUMIA 800 RM-801 for Nokia Care Suite ?
Thank you very much for your help.

[Q] What is the missing part between QCOM and DLOAD

I mean are we missing something like a certficate or stuff like that? I downloaded the ATF box utility and with it there are lots of files such as osbl_dload or osbl_qcom or mbr or sec_boot.....can someone do something with those? I would really appreciate some explanation.....

Most Lumia 800 phones have a restrictive bootloader ('DLOAD'). We have a working open bootloader for the Lumia 800, however it is not 'signed', so we cannot install it on the 'DLOAD' phones. The Lumia 800 phones have restrictions as to what components can be installed and they must be signed (certificates).
With the ATF box, you can use the special 'test points' of the Lumia 800 in order to write directly on the phone memory the (unlocked) open bootloader, replacing the restrictive bootloader. These test points are accessible when you open up the Lumia 800 phone. With the ATF box, you ignore issues about certificates because you use a trick to write directly on the phone memory.
The DLOAD Lumia 800 phones have restrictions. If you want to access the phone memory, you need to go through special Windows Phone software, and this software does not provide direct access. It is very restrictive.
Some initial Lumia 800 phones had the open bootloader (from Qualcomm), which allowed to boot the phone in a special way, and gave full access to the phone memory. Full access to all the 16GB of phone memory. If you have such a phone, it is possible to fully unlock it (there are instructions in this forum) and have admin acess to the phone.
Thank you so much....but is there any kind of certificate on those files that i mentioned before?

[Q] WhatsApp XAP for manual install

Hey Guys,
i installed whatsapp on my lumia 920, when it was available in store. Now i bought my girlfriend a lumia 820 and the only thing she uses all the day is whatsapp, but now it's not available at store anymore. I have v2.8.2 installed on my lumia and tried to install the xap downloaded from the store on her 820, but the phone shows the app as "not compatible".
Is there anyone out there who have whatsapp on a 820 and is able to post the xap-file?
Big thanks!

You have to Jailbreak the phone, from that moment you can deploy xap files to your phone. I don't thonk there is another way yet, because you have to gain root acces to manual install.

That's not the full truth. Since few days you're able to download the "free" xap-Files from the windows-phone-store and place them on your sd-card to install them. With this you're able to install some apps "offline". I installed WhatsApp on my Lumia 920 from store and it works. So there must be a 'valid' xap-file for windows phone 8 that is "installable".
The "how to download and install xap-files offline" can you find here.

Would you mind elaborating this procedure a bit further? My N920 is developer unlocked and I've copied a XAP file to my phone. I placed it in Documents, because I haven't seen any suitable folder.
The phone itself has apparently no SD-Card, hence the store is not showing any "install from SD-Card option"
The app I' d like to install is "keep-alive" which isn't available anymore.
Kind regards,
azel

How does it work with Lumia 920 since it doesn't have a place for an external SD-card? I have downloaded Whatsapp on my computer and placed it on my L920's internal SD-card. When I open the store, my SD-card isn't listed as an option. What am I doing wrong? My phone isn't developer unlocked and I won't pay $99 just to get Whatsapp installed
if your phone is developer unlocked you can just use the xap tool provided by Microsoft with the SDK to deploy xap-files on your phone...

Same problem in here. The funny thing is on my HTC 8x which i get in November Whatsapp is still installed because it wasn't blocked in the store at this point...
Now i have a Lumia 920 and can't install it anymore. If you download the xap from the microsoft store and deploy it with the WP8 SDK the error "XAP file is invalid." appears, so this won't work eighter.
Would be nice if anyone would provide a workaround.

What a bummer, I found a bunch of XAPs from various Chinese websites. They don't work either. ****kkkk.
I'll PM you. I'm not able to post links. Too bad it doesn't seem to work. Hope the app comes available in the store soon.
i have a 2.8.0.0 and a 2.8.2 and deployed both, both run but everytime i try to verify my number it says that i need to update my whatsapp to the newest...
we need a 2.8.8.
i have the 2.8.8 but it says invalid xap,the xap could be broken...i search for another one
Does anybody know a way to install .xap's on L920 without developer unlock? Too bad if it only works when using an external SD-card.
Give this xap file a try. Your phone will need to be developer unlocked and pushed to the phone with the Windows Phone SDK application deployment tool. It is version 2.8.2 but works fine on my HTC 8X after removing DRM info and repacking it.

That's what I'd like to know too... It can be done if your phone is developer unlocked but it costs $99 which is way too much. It's weird if .xap's can be installed on WP8 devices with external SD-slot but can't be installed on those that don't have a slot. Please share if you know something! I really need the app.
I did send the WP8 XAP of Whatsapp (http://www.windowsphone.com/de-de/store/app/whatsapp/218a0ebb-1585-4c7e-a9ec-054cf4569a79) to myself per email (I'm on a Lumia 920) but couldn't get it installed due to some error. But then, I already have Whatsapp installed when it was still possible to do so.

Nokia Network Setup on Samsung Focus

Hey Guys,
Been searching through the forums and haven't found a clear answer on this.
I currently have an unlocked Samsung Focus v1.3 , flashed with Dynamics 2.0 WP 7.8 rom from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016769
I've already tried the straighttalk.xml email solution with WP7 Root Tools and the provxml folder with no success. And on post #3 in the link above there is the nokia driver cabs and the nokia oem network setup app which I've loaded via the instructions provided.
I however cannot find where the app is located or if the load worked. Any and all help is appreciated.
Rom is working great but I'm trying to get the Nokia Network Setup app on it so that I can change APN settings for Straight Talk with a bit more ease.
Can't u not just save the XAP file and install it via wp7 root tools?

I have found a solution since my first post to get nokia network setup app working. Thanks for the reply. I cant remember where the thread was located on XDA but there is an OEM change app that I was able to load and change my OEM from Samsung to Nokia and get access to the Nokia portion of the marketplace and download the Network Setup App.
Thanks

[XAP] [BIG Update] Youtube 3.2 P3.2 now with 100% more HD

**Update 02/11/2015**
Google made some changes on the back end, so the url I was using "http://m.youtube.com/watch?ajax=1&tsp=1&v={0}&dummy={1}"; now returns a "redirect" message instead of the expected data. I can get it to work, but it will be ugly as I need to now manually parse the info out of the mobile html page.
I am leaving this up as it appears to be still working in other countries.
********
All,
Here is the official patched Youtube app! Hopefully this will tide everyone over until Google and Microsoft stop fighting!
Special thanks to @AlvinPhilemon for providing the unencrypted xap!
Special thanks to @Topogigi for spurring me on this afternoon.
I am uploading two versions:
1. Youtube_Interop.xap for interop-unlocked devices that can use ID_CAP_MEDIALIB_PHOTO_FULL
2. Youtube_NoInterop.xap for developer unlocked devices.
If you are having trouble using the "Application Deployment" tool located in the Windows Phone 8 SDK(keep getting an error that says "Error - Deployment optimization failed due to an invalid assembly. Rebuild your source projects and try again."), use the deployment tool that comes with WP8 PowerTools. http://wptools.codeplex.com/
Enjoy and post your results!
Don't forget to say "Thanks!"
**EDIT**
I have updated the versions in this post to include a properly compiled version of "YouTube.TaskAgent.dll" This should take care of any AV warnings with the original version.
This dll controls the live tiles! let me know if they still work.
**EDIT 2* I accidentally uploaded the wrong version of the Youtube_Interop_P2.xap earlier. It has the wrong "YouTube.ViewModel.dll" in it.
***P3 UPDATE***
All, I give you the P3 Update! It includes the following Fixes & Enhancements:
1. Vevo/Encrypted videos should be working for now. (Hopefully Youtube won't update their API for a while lol)
2. I removed that pesky "the content owner did not make this available for mobile" message. (It looked implemented wrong anyways)
3. This version comes with 100% less ads (Felt like "sticking it to the man" lol)
4. COMMENTS now work 100%
***P3.1 UPDATE***
1. "High Quality" mode working again! Fixed all videos default to pulling from m.youtube.com regardless of encryption status.
***P3.2 UPDATE***
1. "High Quality" mode working for ALL VIDEOS INCLUDING ENCRYPTED!!!
Things that still need work:
1. Video Upload is broken still. I will take a look at it as I have time...I am guessing it is a parsing issue. The Interop-Unlocked version may "just work" on an ATIV S for uploads. I need someone to test.
2. I would like to update the signature decryption methods to make it ia bit more "future-proof". IF anyone knows a good way to parse the html5 player, I may give that a shot.
As always, Enjoy and thanks for all the feedback and support!

you can do it for windows phone 7.8?
@Shahar28 @znial It is being flagged as "malware" because I hex-edited a new developer key into the "YouTube.TaskAgent.dll" file. If you want to unzip it, and make your AV check all the files individually, that is the one it will complain about. This was more efficient instead of de-compiling and re-compiling because only one thing needed to be changed. As a byproduct of this, none of the checksums built into the dll match anymore.
@onlinespending what tool are you using to deploy this? I used the built-in "Application Deployment" tool built into the WP8 SDK. I am guessing it is complaining due to what I said above.
@josaya Windows Phone 8 only. Plus you lucky WP7.8 users have plenty of nice youtube clients written by OEMs and other developers, like HTC

Yeah, I'm using the built in Application Deployment as part of the WP8 SDK. I was able to sideload a decrypted swapchat.xap I found, so I can certainly side load other xaps. Is there anyway to decompile and recompile the DLL as you suggested? Would love to get this working.

What OS are you on? is it Windows 8.1? I am running windows 7 and deployed it with no problems. maybe it is a VisualStudio update to the deployment tool that is borking things. See if you can deploy it via the Windows Phone Power Tools http://wptools.codeplex.com/
The 2nd version doesn't work on my Ativ: it gives the same error given when G. blocked it.
I re-deployed the 1st. :good:
Edit: the NoInterop_P2 runs properly.
@Topogigi @djadry When I packaged P2 of the InteropUnlock version, I accidentally used the wrong "Youtube.ViewModel.dll". I just updated the OP with the correct version. You should be good to go now
