Telus One X+ - root stock? - HTC One X+

Hello everyone,
I just got my new HTC One X+ from Telus and god this thing is fast! I really like the stock rom but I want my root priviledge back.
Currently, I have unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP recovery for AT&T model. Now I'm wondering how I can root without flashing a rom? Is it possible to just download su installer?
Thanks

Transfer SuperSU.zip from toolkit to your sd card and flash from recovery

god, I feel noob and ashamed... and I've root more then 20 phone already............ thanks!

Bootloader Unlock???

Hi Guys...
Just got an insurance replacement....
Running 2.06
Did moonshine s-off but need to unlock bootloader also so I can load recoveries....
Can someone please help me.
When I try to install supercid....I get install failed.
Thanks!!
If you are S-Off then the phone is unlocked and you can flash the recovery provided you know what you are doing.

Your unlocked so now go in the app store and get "ROM manager" which will flash you ClockwordMod Recovery. (Easiest way IMO)
I am an idiot....I do know what I am doing but didn't realize moonshine it all in one step.
All good now...instalingl twrp
Or get Goo Manager and load TWRP
I'm new to the phone world but I'm trying to get up the nerve to root phone but I don't feel Like I'm tech savvy enough to do it,the whole unlock Bootloader because I have (2.06)..it just sounds like too many things can go wrong...any advice?

The easiest method really is to dl the Ubuntu 32 bit iso and make a bootable cd/usb of it and do moonshine from within the live portion of that iso. takes all of 30 mins and most of the time completes without issues everytime like clockwork.

You don't need to download Ubuntu anymore they added windows support I moonshined using windows xp
4.3 Carbonized DNA!!
Yes I did it the other day. There are some good videos on YouTube that help. Got an error and for some reason my phone was showing up until I put it in the adjacent USB port.
*I think it's USB port related, not software*

Yes, but using windows brings a lot more chance of error due to drivers and other bs, that's why I said the easiest way, was using Ubuntu.

Hey guys, this thread seemed on topic for my question. I have a used DNA on the way, I presume it has the new firmware.
Coming from a Rezound with S-OFF and unlocked bootloader, I want to be able to flash ROMs and kernels on my DNA. Do I just need to get S-OFF and then I can load custom recovery and flash whatever I want? This is what it sounds like, but just wanted to clarify. Thanks!

I have not been following the DEV scene for this device in awhile. At this point even with the latest firmware and latest hboot you can achieve S-OFF?
Moonshined with win 7 64bit. Failed a bunch of times 4th time it worked. Same USB port.

[R] request stock rom PJ75IMG

sd card went kaput on me. I had stock rom on it before that was flashable from the bootloader (PJ75IMG.zip) and would like to have it again, been looking around but can't seem to find one. If anyone can point me the right way that would be super.

[TWRP Backup] Stock Boot.IMG/ System.Img(rooted)

This is a back up of the stock AT&T system image and the boot.img. This is to restore in case you forgot to back up and get stuck in a bootloop. other dev's feel free to use this as a base for your roms just mention me as the source. The System image is rooted but that's about the only thing different from bone stock
It's SW verison 1.12.502.18
Kernel version 3.4.0-g278eae8
THIS IS NOT A FLASHABLE ZIP.. THIS IS TO BE RESTORED IN TWRP.
Instructions:
Unzip the zip file,
Copy the whole folder into your TWRP/BACKUPS/YOUSERIALNUMBER/ folder on your SDCard
Restore System and boot and you're good to go.

you could always use supersu to unroot. There is an unroot option I believe. once you lock the bootloader again though it shows relocked instead of locked so they can tell you unlocked it and relocked it, if they even check. Most of the time they wont even check.. Just check it for physical/ water damage

I have received a OTA update for my one max the other day for sense 6.

I did, and I still got the same error. "No such file or directory"
I must be getting the path wrong. It says checking system, data/preload/tunein.apk
I think maybe I need to create that file on the system folder, but it's not visible from my pc and I won't save on my phone, (I think because I don't have root)
Any idea's?? I appreciate your help so far dude [emoji106]

Your computer wont be able to see system folder/files. You need a root browser from play store to do the trick for you. You need to create a preload folder un System/data using root browser. I believe you need to have root access in order to do these steps and for this you'll need a unlocked bootloader, custom recovery and super user flashed.

Hi, thanks again for your previous help!
I'm still battling away with this thing trying to get S-OFF so I can relock bootloader and get my finger print scanner working.
Firewater and rumrunner don't seem to work, they both say I need a different (unsecured) kernal. I've tried flashing one, and almost bricked my phone......
Not sure where to go from here?
Any suggestions would be awesome.

Like I said earlier, I did S-Off when I was on 2.47 hboot and I didn't need any Insecure Kernel. I am not sure if 2.49 would require an insecure kernel to S-Off with fire water.
I will read that forum for you to find out if you would need an Insecure Kernel and will let you know. In the mean time you keep searching as well my friend.
