Anxiousness much? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Sorry if I missed it but quick search didn't fetch anything. So according to sir Adam Outler he will be posting unlock bootloader on xda Tv. So who's anxious for that and are you more anxious for the bootloader or gain root? For me it was just getting root

Not that I don't have any faith, but from what I've gathered thus far the work Adam has been doing has been heavy on the hardware modification side of things. And I'm fully expecting that whatever he may or may not reveal tomorrow, it will be dependent on modifying the phones internals.
It excites me that the man can give a big middle finger to Verizon saying "I > you" but I don't know if it means anything to the masses. It's certainly not something we'll be able to do by simply downloading something.
Still though props to him for what he has done. The man is a genius.

In believe Lee Harrison was working on the software side of unlocking the bootloader. What ever method they have used, I'm sure it'll require some use intervention. I don't believe they they would release a public hardware hack unless something similar to an unbrickable mod, which won't since there is nothing around the emmc. Only because most users would even try and fail miserably ending with hardware bricks. But from his post, if you screw it up, you end up an undetectable brick.
Just tread with caution.

Yup that's what I was thinking. Lee was working on the hardware side. Then Adam a few days ago posted that Lee is the man so I'm guessing Lee has found an exploit software wise but what Adam said about the undetectable brick makes me believe there might be some hardware modding to do. Just sucks that we were able to get a leaked boot loader like we did on the S3

S-Off Rezound

I don't believe anyone has mentioned this but it looks like Chingy51o has achieved (or at least has one) S-OFF. Doesn't give details but the original thread is HERE.
I'm all about this phone so I'm looking for all the news. Just merely passing this on as we all await this bad boy

I figured it wouldn't take much time to get it rooted and S-OFF. If, i could upgrade i would certainly get this phone. I feel bad for all the bionic folks.

that's their fault for going with a Motorola.
although, Motorola isn't always to blame for locked bootloaders. The new RAZR for instance... Moto has offered it with the bootloader unlocked(and all countries getting the phone are receiving it that way). Good ol' Verizon didn't like that though and has ensured that it is remaining locked here in the US.

yeah I almost considered buying the bionic, glad I didn't. I planned to buy it after the development section started booming, it still hasn't. A few ROM's yes but not much to choose from and most are not well polished ROM's.
The rezound section here surprisingly looks very promising. I may have to get me one, again imma wait until development kicks off further here before giving up my droid incredible.
This is a factory s-off phone, done with an engineering sim. Don't get your hopes up, all it does is give Chingy a head start on his roms, it doesn't give users a way to s-off yet.

Thank you for the correction J. Hopefully in the near future it will get the true S-Off treatment.
Hi all, sorry if this has been brought up and debunked already, and with my limited knowledge of the rooting process this may not be possible but I saw this:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...nd-on-android-2-3-4-gingerbread-in-one-click/
From what I can tell, the Amaze isn't listed on the HTCDev site to unlock the bootloader either, but it sounds like the process still worked. Then one of the root methods was used for permanent root.
I don't have the level of expertise to try this safely, but hadn't seen anything about this elsewhere in the forum yet so thought I'd offer it up.
The bootloader has not been unlocked yet so that is only temp root.
Sent from my Galaxy Tab 10.1
I understand, however it seems the Amaze's bootloader was unlocked via the HTCDev website despite not technically being listed as a supported device either. Has anyone tried this with the Rezound yet?
I feel if that had been done and it worked it would be all over this site and the net.

Agreed, though it's got to start somewhere, and I haven't seen mention of anyone trying it. The article I posted claims it can be done, and is dated 11/10 but references another article dated 11/3, before anyone really had the device to try this out.

Don't post questions in the Development forum. That was a huge issue in the Desire Section. It makes it too hard to see what is what. The Rezound General, which is what this thread is in, is also a Q+A section.
I tried with my Rezound...didn't work.
I tried also with no luck. Tried a few times actually. I thought HTC promised to never pull this crap again like they did with the tbolt

What a drag. I am really hoping to see an FXZ soon. Honestly it is the lack of FXZ that has me seriously considering the GN.
Personally I require a back out plan...if none exists honestly I don't want the phone. Mostly because the other thing I require is root. I know I can root the Razr as I already have....but I am seriously timid due to lack of FXZ.
This is why over Christmas I bought a Nexus, pretty much screw it up as bad as you want and theres always a way back. That and its been out for 1/2 the time and has 1000% more development on it already. I gave my wife my RAZR, her first smart phone.

I can't believe this is how the forums managers actually feel about our bootloader being unlocked. They are ignoring/deleting posts on Facebook if you ever mention "bootloader" and reply to posts that praise them...or if its about MOTOACTV.
My post was deleted, and others are trying to get it reposted every time its missing again.
My post:
Copy Pastable:
Code:
Motorola: Ignoring the bootloader problem isn't going to make it go away. I love my Droid RAZR but you are making it very hard for developers to make great software for your devices. It is NOT an industry standard to lock them down (HTC, Samsung, ASUS,etc.) and you should stop telling your consumers it is. I bought my Droid RAZR believing your statement that you would unlock the bootloaders by the end of 2011 if carriers allowed it. HTC unlocked all of theirs by the end of 2011, Verizon included. Not to mention you made the International version Motorola RAZR locked as well... All your customers want it some light on the situation, not our questions deleted.
It's not hard to tell that you are deleting posts and comments when someone mentions "bootloader", but they won't stop coming into you make a statement. And not just a statement like http://moto.ly/icsboot
Please listen and not just delete this post. Reply! Totally open to conversation and debate.
With them deleting post...we need to re-double our efforts.
That's definitely a fake account, they copy pasted the same thing a million times and can't even spell whining.

This phone is amazing without unlocked bootloaders, it's still rootable, and for those of us who are no longer flashaholics and kept their phone stock, it does EVERYTHING a rooted phone can do (with a little searching in the market). IMO, you're fighting a losing battle (for now, until we get ICS).

That's wierd, I don't know who would have motivation to be impersonating them. However, if an official Twitter account told you the Facebook account was fake, you should probably edit your first post to mention that very clearly. We want to be as understanding and professional with those at Moto who do speak and listen to us, just making sure we're not hurting those people's reputation, thanks!

Vote in the poll here for "Security and Permissions" and even comment about the locked bootloaders if you want. Do not be unprofessional, this is meant for developers.

Sign up for their online MOTODEV Office Hours on Febuary 15th, you can write in a question to ask, I'd suggest asking about the Razr "Developer Edition" and why we must purchase a second device unlock the bootloader when it can be done with a simple software upgrade instead. We were promised them in late 2011 and have heard nothing.

Thank you for your support. The only waste of time here is you trying to stop the growing #OPMOSH movement with negativity. The only way this movement will make a difference is if people actually try and get this done. Whining about this being your last Motorola phone has gotten 0 replies from Motorola.
Bootloader's locked...I see your plan is working wonderfully,too..... Look, the only thing this company is gonna understand is lack of income and THAT means quit buying their phones. When their bottom line is affected, then they'll get the message loud and clear. Until then, they're just arrogant, deaf and think their sh++ don't stink....make em think otherwise.
I'm seriously tired of people saying that in every opmosh-related anything. Have you seen their Q4 sales to begin with? They're already basically broke. Their stock is 1/25th of Samsung's. They just don't care. Google is about to scoop them up. It'd be useless to just contribute to their temporary failure. Literally useless. Let's do something productive.

check out foldermount. might help with the pain of the smaller storage size. basically moves data to the external SD, but leaves a symlink on the internal so that apps, etc that point to that directory can still access the files. obviously not the same as a larger internal storage, but at least it helps.
I didn't figure it was going to take long for the phone to be rooted, and custom recoveries/roms installed. It didn't take long for the GS3 to fall to the modding community.
Once you root, NO MORE OTAS!!!!
People will read that, and still do it anyway, and well, that's on them.

I'm going to try out stock for at least a few days. I'm coming from a DINC2 running CM7 in preparation for this. It's going to be a nice boost in every regard, I think.
The lure of root is tough to beat, though. I've only ever had HTC smartphones, so I've been used to waiting a month or two for root. This might be tough.

Unfortunately so, it looks like Verizon had time to upgrade to the new secure kernel (same as Sprint's latest OTA). And now we all know why they wanted to take that extra month.
