This is a team effort by all Team codefireX members listed below, as well as many other developers and users in the android community. The kernel is CM10.1 kernel built from source using cfX-Toolchain, however as of writing this thread, most all custom kernels in this forum should work.
The codefireX team:
synergy(e) - lead dev
Mustaavalkosta - lead dev
michyprima - dev
Pnoire - bug tester and french translator
Rdlgrmpf - contributor
BananaGranola - contributor
Unlike with some other JellyBean roms, I believe that all users should know exactly what is being built in/for the ROM. That is why all the repos I use and maintain are available for all to see and contribute to. The codefireX source links are above the download link. Please do not ask me to include any prebuilt or proprietary applications in this ROM; I will refuse, or ignore you entirely. Using non-vendor proprietary or closed source applications/ROMs is and always will be a security concern I would rather not expose users to.
Click HERE for a full cfX settings feature flowchart by BananaGranola (thank you!)
NOT a re-named CM build
Based on AOSP master (not release) with regular AOSP master merges
Open Source as all AOSP ROMs deserve to be
Easily switch between a custom and "vanilla" experience in the settings app "on/off switch"
LOTS of customization options including quick settings
Built with a custom linaro based gcc4.7.3 toolchain, strict aliasing, -O3 completely (including thumb_cflags), graphite optimizations, and other optimizations such as OOM/LMK changes. JUST TRY TO FIND A FASTER SOURCE BUILT JELLYBEAN ROM!
Lots more but I'm boring myself already

Did you dirty flash? If not, could you get a logcat? Also, what toggle was it you tried to remove? To get past it, just reboot and wipe data, but I would still like more info to fix it.

I did full system wipe and dalvik prior to install.
Tried to remove Airplane mode from toggles. Im pretty sure it was the first thing I actually changed after install.
Install over the top didnt fix it but as you say full factory reset did.
I can do it again and see if it breaks if you want. Where are the log files stored?
Edit: Actually it occurs to me I tried changing battery bar option before I did toggles. It didnt seem to do anything though. What is that feature?

Ah, I don't think battery bar has a tablet layout currently. I'll add it and fix it for next release. Usually it displays a bar showing your battery %. Also discovered what the issue for airplane mode is and will also fix it and remove it as a default on N7. This is the very first tablet build of codefireX, so please bare with me until BR11
Edit: The issue actually occurs while removing any tile from QS, and I got a log from MisterSchnapps which details it's a NPE (null pointer exception). I recommend holding off on removing QS tiles until this is fixed in BR11 which I'll push for within the next 24hours.

I did the same thing, uncheck the "Signal" toggle and it will stop. It probably has something to do with the fact that signal strength is not reported back from a nonexistent radio.

Awesome release man it's fast as hell! Sooooo looking forward as to what's to come

Can you get me a logcat of boot? adb logcat > grouperboot.txt
This will dump a text file in the folder the command was run in, then you may upload it to a site such as logcat.miui.us
Edit: looks like I'll need to build those modules with a lower optimization level.

Keep up the good work! And thanks again.

Why hello there synergy! I'll definitely try out your ROM
EDIT: I can confirm the sensors issue, and include gps.tegra3.so in the next build plzkthnx

I suggest using elixer2 to check the sensors.. It is a great app

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
Who is Team Carbon?

Many thanks for your hardwork.
Downloading and try. Will report soon :good:
EDIT : Which Gapps do I have to flash? Thanks in advance
EDIT : I used Lite Gapps from LX and its works
sorry to ask little bit off topic. Is there way we can install the kernel without PC? My windows 8.1 64bit wont let me connect my phone in my fastboot mode which is a widely known problem now. There is no solution yet. Any alternative way to flash the kernel?

The great start
Excited to see 4.4.2 on my Xpro.
Would like to see all things working than sticking to native ROM, e.g. WiFi hotspot, FM, HDMI, etc.
Testing, will report.....
Phone restarts frequently when using gallary app. Even when tried to change wallpaper.
Annoying music shuttering.
Phone hangs after playing game for some time.(e.g. Empire Defense 2)
The wait is over guys.. Official Carbon Nightlies are here.. currently building.. Will be up for downloads probably in 7hrs more.. Enjoy..

Initial release
Kernel source for Hammerhead
F.A.Q. - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is Exodus?
A: Exodus is my personal combination of the best of both worlds. CyanogenMod features and AOKP features, merged together with AOSP elements.
Q: Do I need to flash GApps?
A: If you did a factory reset during flashing, then yes. If you did a dirty flash then most likely no.
Q: Which GApps do you recommend?
A: To each his own. I use the regular GApps that CM hosts on my Nexus 7 2013 and PA GApps on my Nexus 5. Both works really well.
Q: What is Exodia?
A: Exodia is my personal kernel that comes with Exodus. It is a minimal MOD kernel that is based on CM's stock kernel. The main MODs in Exodia include Intelliactive & Intellidemand governors, Simple I/O scheduler, Fast Charge support, and a few optimizations.
Q: Can I use another kernel?
A: Yes you can, as long as that kernel is compatible with CM based ROMs.
Q: How often is a build released?
A; The plan is to release one every 7-10 days, depending on feature merges. There may be a few times a build may be late, due to compatibility issues, and lack of time (job related).
Q: Is this CAF or AOSP based?
A: This ROM and kernel is based from CM11. If CM11 is CAF based now, then Exodus and Exodia kernel is CAF based.
Q: Why can't I change the incoming call style anymore?
A: There is a bug present that puts the call buttons behind a transparent navigation bar during an incoming call. This only happens when Fullscreen is selected in that option. It also was there AFTER I removed the option and functions. For now, the option is there but I made a few changes. Until I completely fix the bug, that option is automatically set to Classic, then the preference is locked to keep the user from changing it.

Good Job and thanks.

Hi, I try it and I report in few days...
Things are running real nice and smooth so far. Question though since it's CM related, is there any chance at getting the CM Autobrightness Adjustment settings in this rom or are they here and I'm just overlooking it?

-public release
I am excited to see how my battery life compares on this rom vs stock. I was getting a ton of idle battery drain, hopefully this takes care of that issue. Thanks error for getting us a working rom this quickly!
Quick question? I noticed you put flash root ( opt ) so by flashing your ROM will we loose root?

Should do a full wipe unless you have my beta build 1 lol It will keep root once you flash rom > gapps > root. Flashing root is optional.
Damn the N6 flashes roms and zips faster than any other device I have ever used, this thing is quick! For some reason after flashing the ROM+Gapps, TWRP wouldn't boot up for me so I had to re-flash TWRP. I haven't spent long with the ROM but I can already tell that AOSP feels much snappier than stock ever did for me. It also boots up much quicker than stock.
One thing I did notice is that enabling battery percentage doesn't work for me. I enabled it and restarted a few times and it still doesn't show the percentage inside the icon on the status bar. Double tap to wake works fine as well as ambient display. Very excited to test this baby out further, going to be playing with it more tonight!
Tried to flash and on first boot it's asks me for a password. I enter one and it tells me the password is correct but something is corrupt and I must factory reset. I reset and the same thing happens again.... What's going on, I've never come across this before?

Means your userdata is encrypted, you will have to wipe it in fastboot or recovery. Read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/development/disable-forced-encryption-gain-root-t2946715
Thanks godsafk. I will look into it when I get home from work, think I already know the problem.
I just recently noticed an issue with the sound settings. The ringtones and notification sounds are distorted and loud, then cut out and become very quiet. I noticed this when I received a phone call and then proceeded to test this myself. As soon as a call comes in, the ringtone is loud for a split second, then the audio cuts out, and returns at a very low volume. I have tried multiple ringtones and even did a fresh wipe to make sure it wasn't an issue with the install.
It appears as if this audio bug only occurs through the speakers. Audio playback with Google Play Music and Pocketcasts through headphones is fine but as soon as I use the speaker, the volume is extremely loud and distorted and it it quickly lowers itself. There definitely seems to be an issue with the maximum volume through the speaker I think is causing it to peak and throttle itself. No problems via headphones though, sounds just as good as stock and volume works as intended!
And it begins..... Woohoooo

hmmm, i flashed ROM, no problem. I flashed Gapps and BOOM, my phone rebooted. Now TWRP is gone. i'm stumped lol. am i missing something? I wiped Cache, dalvik cache, system and data before flashing. Phone boots fine but of course GAPPS is missing becuase it rebooted during the process

yea.. looks like we have to turn that encryption off. Im unlocked and rooted but havent done the encryption thing as my phone runs fine for real world use, but its looking like more and more reason to do it.

Forceencrpt is replaced with encryptable. You must of came from a ROM with encryption.
It was late when I posted the thread, "removed encryption" definitely wrong set of words.

Did you happen to fix video recording issue?
Everything is snappy but the audio and video issue still remain. The ringtone's and music playback is very quiet.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but ROM's for the n6 aren't variant specific and will work across the board, right? Just want to be sure before I flash. I'm on Sprint btw.
I pooped my pants once, it's a long story....

Yes roms are not carrier specific.
Do a nandroid backup and then flash this rom. You'll be able to confirm by then.

i was on the stock rom but replaced the boot image with the noforceencrypt image and was decrypted. no worries though, was easy enough to decrypt as long as you know about it going and so you dont lose internal storage data.

About Us:
Dirty Unicorns is a project that started out with no name. It was a project that was first based off AOKP back in the early days of Jelly Bean. In the early days -- it was just a one man show on one device, the EVO 3D. Since then, many others have joined the project and it has grown exponentially.
We have seen a lot of talent contribute to this project of ours. Big or small, the focus was always on contributing to the community. That is ultimately why we do what we do. After Jelly Bean, we decided to move to a new base, OmniROM. While AOKP was fun, OmniROM proved to be even more exciting base because it challenged us to see what we could do with a project that had different goals in mind. We learned a lot and gained contributors in the process. With Lollipop, we moved to an AOSP base with a lot of patches from CAF to make our older devices function as they should. We grew further with experience and learned a lot more along the way.
It has been an awesome learning experience and it's still not over! We are still learning, striving to grow each day, and continuing to move forward. Lastly, we DO NOT accept, nor ask, for donations. We do not believe in that. Everything that is necessary to keep this project going comes out of our own pocket. Gerrit, Jenkins, Websites, Devices, etc. We will never ask for a dime. All that we do ask is that you have patience, search for answers prior to posting, read, and try to enjoy the process with us!!

WOOT WOOT!!!!!!
Is been a long time coming Good job dude!!!
IT'S HERE!!!!!!!
Been running this for a few days already on my Flounder, and can speak to its stability, quickness, and impeccable battery life.
WELL DONE DU TEAM!
Achieved highest benchmarks on DU for Flounder, with all of the major benchmark applications. Scores were higher than stock, and higher than all other custom ROMs (and I am a crack flasher, and have tried them all ).
Worth mentioning at this point, that while ElementalX is compatible with this ROM, version .09 will BREAK the CM12 Theme Engine. Until flar fixes Elemental, don't use it, or at least don't flood this thread asking for help. (fixed with the release of v .10). Great job!!

Just to clarify, the Tablet is usable but just without the Theme Engine or are there constant FC!? If just the Theme Engine is unusable for the Moment it actually doesn't matter.

Should be constant FC's as you attempt to access the Theme Engine. It's a simple fix, but I'm sure Aaron (flar) has better things to do these days.
For the record, there's not much purpose in switching kernels on my ROM here since I'm going to be keeping everything up to date with Linux and anything else I see that may be worthwhile having.
Agreed, the optimized stock kernel is working well. This build is excellent. Even my QS works. Thanks for "official" build!

If you use an app to freeze the Theme Engine, or just uninstall it, the ROM works perfectly with ElementalX installed.

@NYCHitman1 's kernel is absolutely FLAWLESS, and that is the kernel I was using when I achieved higher benchmarks than any of the custom kernels posted yet. Also, my device was encrypted when I ran the benchmarks (for reference, AnTuTu: 62975).
Well, then I guess I have to flash it today Bummer that no Multirom support is available yet, that's the 3rd Rom I'm trying and setting up, in the last 24 hours ^^

Heyho can you add overclocking options in the kernel?
WOW, amazing and fast ROM! Thank you for this. This flies compared to stock. None of the lag I've experienced in stock Lollipop, and flawless so far. Great job!
EDIT: One thing I just noticed. The camera force closes.
Ah, I forgot to ask, if the built in Kernel is ecryptable or forceencrypt?

Sorry, I have no plans of adding OC to the kernel.

Yea, my camera FC's as well, but based on your response, you already knew that
One other thing, will we be seeing List View Animations on the Flounder in the future?

There's no timetable for anything, currently. Just bringing things back as we go along in no particular order.
EDIT: Something to keep in mind here is that Lollipop is a good deal different than KitKat. Some things were moved out of their original positions as they were in KitKat, so it takes some time to port features back. Plus, you still have to go through proper QA/QC.
This ROM is smoking fast and stable. This is the only custom ROM that I have flash on my Nexus 9 that didn't have Bluetooth intermittent audio issues and I have flash them all .

I've been trolling the G+ page for about a month and a half waiting for this
Today is a good day. You have to respect the devs for not putting out a half broken ROM, and taking the time to get it right. This is EASILY the most stable, feature-rich N9 ROM released to date. For an initial release, the ROM is a near flawless daily driver.
I agree, just using it for about half an hour, but it's very fast and organized very nicely. Everything is where you would expect it to be.

About Us:
Dirty Unicorns is a project that started out with no name. It was a project that was first based off AOKP back in the early days of Jelly Bean. In the early days it was just a one man show on one device, the EVO 3D.
We learned a lot and again, gain contributors. With Lollipop, we moved to an AOSP base with a lot of patches from CAF to make our older devices function as they should. We grew even more and learned a whole lot more.
It has been an awesome learning experience and is still not over! We are still learning every day and continue to move forward. Lastly, we DO NOT accept, nor ask, for donations. We don't believe in that. Everything that is necessary to keep this project going is out of our own pocket. Gerrit, Jenkins, Websites, Devices, etc. We will never ask for a dime. All we do ask, is that you have patience, search, read and try to enjoy the process with us!!

Remove sim card and restart your phone. And then power off your device. And then insert the sim card and reboot.
Finally, I cane back to my favourite ROM. That's really nice that this ROM working better than TestBuilds. Keep working and fingers-crossing for future updates!
BTW. Anyone know when Google will relase security bulletin for march?

Anybody experience any sleep of deaths? I experienced a couple & I'm using Taurus kernel. I've been using this kernel for some time but these didn't occur before. Used CM version with CM13 though, not the AOSP version. Trying to figure out if it's the ROM or the kernel. Using Interactive governer and Mako hotplug (that is the stock configuration of the kernel).

It's not the ROM. I tested it and didn't get any problems. I flashed it clean though and with Taurus as well. Try doing a cache + dalvik cache wipe.

Thanks for the reply.. I did a clean flash too, although I had changed the Low Memory Killer values to "Very Light" preset in Kernel Adiutor. No sleep of deaths last night, I guess that was the culprit.
On a separate note, what is your recommended setting for f-sync?
