Transparent notifications (not dropdown background!) mod? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Anyone have a mod that can make the notifications transparent? I'd like to see my desktop through the notifications (ie: persistent wifi notification, gmail, etc.).
Haven't figured out how to do it myself on my stock, rooted phone, non-deodexed. If there's no mod for it, I'm more than willing to brick my phone a few times trying to do it myself if anyone has instructions on what to edit. I've already messed with SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk a couple times, haven't tried twframework-res.apk yet.
Asking about this part of the notifications, if I wasn't clear: http://s15.postimage.org/y8ad3u917/Screenshot_2012_10_03_17_59_49.png (image borrowed from another thread)

Its in system UI, pm me the file and ill do it for you later tonite
Sent from my Galaxy Note II

Wow, it's all in SystemUI? Hah. Any chance you could also tell me what file you edited? This has been driving me bonkers over the past few days.
PM'd, and thanks so much.
Edit: Still looking for answers. Initial tries didn't pan out, again. Not sure where in the files the notification background is located.

Bumping this, still wondering.

Mod Requests/Ideas...

I'm looking to start a new metamorph project this week. So, I figured I'd ask the community if anyone had any requests of how they want their phone modded? If you have any ideas or requests of framework modifications (satus bar, status bar icons, battery, notification pulldown items settings menu, ex.), just let me know here or shoot me a PM and I'll see what I can do. Thanks!
I have posted this before but as far as I can tell no one has done it for eclair. I would like a set of black apps. I have the modded black dialer and would like someone to either create or help me create a black version of twitter, gmail and gtalk.
Black meaning the main screen are all black (aka no power used) with maybe a whitish text and grey highlight bar. I know this can be done as I have found it for froyo, I am just not ready to move to froyo yet as my bionix rom is nearly perfect.

I have yet to modify an app, but I will definitely give it a try. It must be easier then modding the framework anyway. Do you have any screenshots of the froyo version? Or better yet, a link to download the apps for froyo?
I am by no means trying to steal anyone elses hard work I have seen the black apps in froyo rom called 928BlackDroidGlass there is also a market and twitter addon. I have tried to re-create these apps in eclair by doing a file by file compare of a standard froyo version and this version then using the diff files making the same changes in the froyo version. I have so far failed miserably. There are about 10 xml files just for gtalk alone that need color changes it seems. It would seem almost all the changes are to the background color or text color. I know I am close but just cant get it working and just dont have enough time to re-trace and find my error. If you like when I am home I can send you the filenames and locations that I suspect are the xml files that need to be changed for the gtalk app.
I took a look and think I know which files your talking about, but definitely send me what you got and maybe we can get it working.
Honestly I just want a plain touchwiz stock battery mod like how it should be. I started working on it but haven't picked it back up. I just want the stock color blue no percentage and it be accurate and compatiable with JI6.

This is what I believe are all the files needed for GTALK
*** Layout
chat_screen.xml
chat_view.xml
custom_title.xml
group_chat_approval.xml
picture_view.xml
search_results.xml
set_status.xml
*** Values
colors.xml
*** Drawable
chat_item_background.xml
In each there are settings for background of test color. It appears if we reverse the colors on them we may get the desired effect but I cant get it to work. Color codes appear to be FF000000 and FFFFFFFF
Any help yuo can provide would be much appreciated. Would also love to do this for other apps as I mentioned previously but have not had time to do a file compare on anything else.
P.S. Remind me to send you my twframework and framework files, a combination of mods based on bioni and black mesh with notification icons by s0niqu3 (her skills are unparalleled) and the accurate segmented battery mod (green as dont like the blue).

You got it. I'm gonna get this up and running sometime this week. I take it you're on bionix?
Ps- I have created a blue battery mod WITH percentage ([Mod]Battery mod (blue, accurate) located somewhere in this thread. You can try it out to hold you over until I can get the new one up.

Sounds good. I'm away for the weekend, but I will contact you early next week. I'd like to get gmail running properly before moving on to other apps. Thanks for your help!

Yeah I've used your mod and like it. Thanks for taking request. Like I said I started working on it but with a 2 an 3 year old and my wife working nights I have no time to dedicate to it. Thanks again!

[Q] black notification bar

First - Let me start by saying I did a search of black notification bar and didn't really find anything specific to the vibrant. Actually I did find when using the search but still confused. Initially I was just uing the auto fill pop up for information.
Second - Instead of posting in Q&A, I figured it would be better posted here since it's a theme/app. Moderator please move if appropriate. Thanks.
Third - This is strictly for Stock JL5 deodexed.
With that out of the way...
The black/sort of transparent bar is driving me crazy. I'd like for the notification bar to be just straight black. Initially, I was running NeroV3.0 and liked how the notification bar was completely black. But, I just wasn't digging the gingerbread theme. So, I borrowed some of Sombonix's pngs and just copied them to my framework. That was a completely disaster. Man, am I glad I made backups.
Can any of you themer gurus help me out?
what's the name of the png file that is the notification bar? I am on my way home as we speak so I can help as much as I can from there.
I thought this is all I would have to replace but was I sorely mistaken.
statusbar_background.9.png
I am by no means a themer, but I have modified my notification bar, basically all I did was find the notification bar I wanted and used adb push to copy over the framework-res.apk from the desired source to system\framework whilst in cwm.
What all PNGs should I be modifying? There's so many in there that has to do with status bar that I'm getting lost. Also, although I'm running launcherpro, do I need to modify both the framework and twframework?
Yes there's three folder u should be looking at. One is ib the framework-res.apk. the other two are In the twframework.apk. there's 2 seperate folders u need to look into.. I believe one is hdpi, the other might be hdpi-4.. u must change all status bar png. Although I could be wrong because different roms place their png in diffrent folders.. and have a different set up...
Thanks for the tip. Looks like I'll be doing a lot of stare and compare tonight.
Yeay! I did it. Thanks for everyones help with your suggestions. Here is what I ended up doing.
1. Copied my framework and twframework from my phone on to my PC.
2. As a test, took this status bar from here: http://www.devsforandroid.com/forum/index.php?threads/axura-skins-and-themes.39/ (Thanks junkdruggler and Master).
3. Did a search of *status*.
4. Copied *status* to the appropriate places on my framework and twframework.
5. Created a zip.
6. Flashed zip via CWM.
I think one problem is I tried just copying the framework and twframework over and the OS doesn't like me doing that while it's running.

[Request] Black task bar!

Already tired of the big white bar at the top. Anyone working on a nice black one?
i hope so too, love the gingerbread look from my nexus.
I worked on one all of yesterday evening/night (broke my ankle), and eventually got it to push without issue. After work this evening I'll be uploading it for Dev's or very knowledgeable users who know how to backup and adb recover to use.
Edit: The bar is a black/ grey gradient to still see the text. I haven't yet messed with xml's to try and change the text colors.
Here's Revision 1...AKA Tacky Edition
Please see this thread for my Gingerbread theme: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974112
thanks, can you post a screenshot of how it looks with the black/grey bar with the current icons?
since this is pretty much first steps of theming, maybe we can pull the icons off of gingerbread framework, those are all "optimized" for black status bar hehe.
Current screenshot is attached.
I will say that I've yet to push the new notification text colors (new services.jar), but will be testing that shortly with gingerbread icons.
I just got my hands on hdpi gingerbread icons, so I'll be testing during the day, and I'll upload it tonight (PST).
I'm planning on making a new topic and a shell script to run on the phone (or .bat on a pc) to make installation easier, and I've been messing with transparencies a bit as well, so expect a few different uploads.
Isn't the cutting edge fun?!
@synergye
How different would it be to push the file to the phone SDcard using USB mass storage and then use root explorer from the phone to move the file to the framework folder?
I tried this way and soft bricked! Don't know what I did wrong!
Any insight?
Are you deodexed? Something I forgot to put in the post above, which I believe is needed to push my deodexed framework file.
I recommend waiting until this evening(maybe sooner for my gingerbread notification bar and services.jar. Im also going to fix my instructions above to say deodexing required.

Nice! Once this has the white text im copying this over
The new theme now has a white clock, and some gingerbread thrown in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974112
any chance we can get the AT&T carrier logo removed as well? I love the black, but that weird gap would probably drive me neurotic after a bit.
I'm planning on removing it next, after adding notification transparency, and doing a bit more overall theming (thinking browser, etc).
Please note that I now have a topic open for this theme: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974112
thanks synergye!

Custom Framework Help...

Ok, so I've been trying to apply custom framework from a fellow xda member without success. I've flashed these metamorph files dozen of times and only half the icons show up, but the signal bars NEVER change, NEVER! It's so frustrating!! I just tried using the UOT Kitchen to see if that worked and it didn't. For gingerbread ROMs you have to upload systemUI.apk, com.htc.recourses and framework-res.apk which seems to take care of all the icon locations. After flashing the zip on first boot it shows the new signal bars for a few seconds, then switches back to the ugly stock 4 bars.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be? I figured uploading all three files I listed above would take care of the stupid signal bars, but once again I was wrong. Any help/advice/ideas is greatly appreciated.
Mods I apologize if this is in the incorrect section.

Driving me nuts too. Gladly buy someone a 12 pack (donate) if you can get me Gtalk, Gmail, Messages and Mail Color Icons like HERE
I posted my problem in the UOT thread in android development section. Hopefully someone can figure this out. I just don't understand why if you have to upload all 3 files where the HTC stock icons are why they don't change. It's mind boggling
Could not agree more.
Friendly bump
Is UOT setup for the Thunderbolt? Meaning will it replace the right signal bars, etc? Doesnt sound like it. Just use 7zip and replace the images yourself.

It's set up for gingerbread sense, so I think that it should work. AFA replacing icons manually, I don't know how to do that, you should know considering I tried it with your framework and had no luck I just don't understand why the new icons show up for a few seconds then they switch to the stock icons.
Yeah but they probably don't have it set up for Tbolts gingerbread. The signal bars are more than likely named different than the other phones.
That's understandable, but why would the new signal icon show up for a few seconds then disappear?
Also, since you're very familiar with this, could you post in here or pm me the name of all the signal/wifi/3G/battery icons and where they're located that need to be changed in order to get custom icons working properly? Or if there's a list you know about could you please link me to it?

Battery is in framework-res.apk/drawable-hdpi (Example - stat_sys_battery_0). Signal/wifi/3G is in SystemUI.apk/drawable-hdpi (example - 3G ICONS -stat_sys_data_connected_3g and cdma_sys_data_connected_3g WIFI -stat_sys_wifi_signal_0). BUT, if you use any of the BAMF toolkit edits they will override the SystemUI.apk. You would have to modify the eSystemUI.apk and dSystemUI.apk. They are located in system/etc/scripts. Hope this helps ya out a little bit.

I personally replace the battery images only. I was in total shock when I first started but now I can do it within minutes.. The one thing I don't know how to do is edit the xml files which you have to do in order for the icons to display properly. So in other words the stock battery only has 5 or 6 images but if you use a rom or theme that has a % (which I hate) it would have 101 images I believe.. so what I do is pull the xml/image files from a stock theme and place them in the rom I want. I'm not sure how to replace signal bars but pm me if you need help with battery.
It sounds way harder than it is

[Q] possible to hide status bar in lock screen?

hey guys. is it possible to hide the status bar from the lockscreen? I'm good with .xml, .smali or any other kind of edit. i just need to be pointed to where I would need to go.
I tried searching and came up empty handed. i'm trying hard to like the lock screen. i already changed the backgrounds (much better now), currently working on a custom lockring, last thing would be to hide that ugly status bar...it's only showing me what the lockscreen already shows anyways.
thanks for the info.
Download the app Widget Locker...U can remove taskbar and also a lot of customization to your style
I'm a big WidgetLocker fan, with my own custom themes made and all that when i was on the Evo 3D. i'm trying to move on with the times and use this nifty sense lockscreen. just has a few kinks to work out.
but if i dont end up fixing it to my liking soon enough i'll download widgetlocker again.
anyone else have any ideas as to how to get this done?
If you go into titanium backup, and freeze statusbar, it will do what you want, it will also remove in regular screen, possibly decompile lockscreen.apk and see if you can do it there.

that is not what I want to do at all. I don't want to make the status bar unavailable everywhere in the system. just within the lockscreen.
if I knew where to go, I can make .xml and .smali edits or whatever else. I just don't know how to search for things from scratch :-(

I'm just guessing, so this could be a useless thought, but... I think checking in idlescreen base would be a good start. You wouldn't probably want to mess with this in system UI because that would likely just hose the whole bar. Team d3rp seems to have maybe figured out making the bar transparent, which would leave the icons and if course be clear everywhere else too... but it's still finicky across the roms, so not quite done yet. pstevep is the man, and maybe could help? See what you can find and then maybe send him a pm.
bumpity bumb
bump, bump, bumpity bump.
any way to do this?
i would say edit lockscreen.apk (decompile and fish around) and also look in a androidpolicy.jar probably some lines of code your could remove/add to make it happen.
clever idea by the way. i am still trying to resolve issues with my idea of clearing notifications from the lockscreen by double tapping the home key. had it figured out for a little bit but it was causing apps to force close :/
again i like your idea... i probably wouldn't use it myself simply because i wouldnt be able to see important details or notifications etc without unlocking the phone
