Location services problem AT&T - HTC One X+

I am having an issue with location services. I like to turn it on and off to save battery and use it mainly for Google now. It seems that each time you turn it on it prompts you to accept. However some times it does not prompt and Google now just has the spinning circle. Only rebooting the phone fixes the issue and as soon as the phone reboots the prompt to accept location services pops up.
Is anyone else setting this issue? It has happened on both stock and the elegencia roms.

Running elegancia Rom now and no issues. I just have the GPS sense widget on my homescreen. Turn on to use and off to not, no silly pop ups.

Thanks for the reply but I'm not talking about gps - in location you can turn on or off Google's location service (cell tower triangulation, gps is a different option). Every time you turn it on it prompts for Agree or Disagree (I wish it would remember agree). Some times that prompt does not pop up and when it does not google now will not work. after a reboot you get the prompt immediately on unlocking the device to agree to Google's location service and then google now works.
This has nothing to do with the Elegencia Rom as it happened when I was stock before unlocking and rooting the phone.

GPS\Antenna issue a antenna issue?

Off the bat with my phone, i have been having bad GPS connectivity issues. I would launch google navigation and get an instant lock. After a while, it would loose connection and say "searching for gps". It would never connect until i exited navigation, and turned off the gps and turned it back on. Then relaunched google nav and instant lock again. Then I also started noticing that on my htc sense clock widget, where it would show you the weather and the town in which you are in, it would only say "Current Location" no matter what I do. I went as far as resetting the phone back to factory settings which corrected the location issue at first but then it reverted back "Current Location". Any thoughts on this? If i cant figure this out, I will probably end up taking the phone back.
I had the same issue, I did prl updates and all other updates in the update software, and havent had and issue yet.

Try switching your roaming mode to automatic. I was having the same problem. So far so good

Also tried that....no go
anybody else have an idea?
Does your weather widget default to Illinois, but when you try maps, it shows a true location? I switched my roaming mode, but the weather widget is still glitchy in one area here in Houston.
I didn't have the GPS issue, but I had the weather as well as roaming and update time issues. I took my phone back and got a new one today. So far so good, but it has only been 2 hours since the exchange.

Widget shows "current location" but maps pinpoints me exactly with the gps turned on.
GPS/Sprint Issue
From the time I received the phone every location based app has given me problems. Multiple attempts, varying results but mostly bad. Now been to 3 separate sprint stores, multiple phone calls and still can not get a clear resolution. I want to replace with another phone but am getting the runaround. Saying I have to get it looked at to verify an issue. This has already been done and if they do not move from the desk, how are they going to verify weak GPS to continual no connections? Will continue to escalate but strangulation is an option. I had the Evo 4g before with no issue. Does anyone have this phone with functional/reliable GPS?
Sprint store changed the phone mode to 3g only from 3g/lte setting. Gps worked and will check more later. Other gps apps are working also

[Q] "Cannot retrieve current location"?

Does anyone else have an issue when refreshing the stock weather widget with the current city selected? I always get the error "cannot retrieve current location" and every now and then after numerous attempts it might work.
I have gps and sync on, so not sure whwts up
Is the widget set to update? Open it, go to settings and make sure it's checked?
I've gotten this a number of times. It eventually corrects itself, but it is kind of a pain.

Location Services/ Weather Widget
Howdy:
I stumbled into this thread since I was having the same difficulty with the stock weather widget. (AT&T's version of the LG Optimus G)
It was set to update, I had enabled location services but still got 'Cannot retrieve current location' when either updating
or attempting to set 'current location' as the location from the enter cities dialog.
I rebooted the phone, tried again and this time was prompted to enable Google location services and at that point
got a consent dialog asking permission - I think the first time (This is a new phone) I might have declined permission.
After this, everything seemed to work OK
This may or may not be the issue you're encountering but since it solved it for me I thought it might help someone else in the same boat.
Thanks and hope that helps.

I had all of the locations set and it would only update when I was on wifi. I moved on to another widget that works. Found a cool transparent one from lg smartworld.

Various issues after OTA update (SIM, signal, power button)

I updated on Thursday and have been having some issues since then. The first thing I noticed was the signal strength bars are weaker, where I would normally have 4-5 bars I now have 1-2 still on LTE though.
The next thing that happened was Friday night, there was no service and the phone said there was no SIM card. I power cycled the phone and then it came back up without the error. This happened again tonight, Saturday.
My other issue/question is how do I turn off the phone? Before when I would hold down the power button it would have a dialog that let me put it in airplane mode, restart or power off. Now when I hold it down the 3 buttons blink and it tells me to keep holding down to restart and that's it.

I was getting the sim car error often before the update I powered off, and re seated the sim card and powered on and I haven't had an issue since then. Also I have never had the issue with signal or the power button.

After you pop the SIM card, boot into recovery and wipe dalvik cache, cache, and go into advanced and fix permissions. Reboot and profit. This SIM error is a permissions thing getting screwed up.
I did a factory reset last night and just the issue again. My DNA is stock so I don't know how to clear the caches. Any other ideas?
Google Now opens browser instead of application
After the update, Google Now / voice search opens up a browser instead of the application needed.
For instance, if I ask for directions to a place, the phone opens Chrome with directions. The directions are no where near where I am. If I try to dial someone via voice, the Google Now card pops up with the person's contact followed immediately by Chrome.
I'm not sure if anyone has a fix for this, but it's certainly annoying and drastically reduces the capabilities of this phone for me.
Thanks all,
Mike

I got the update today and google now works same as it did before for me. Ask for directions, it goes to maps and show me directions and try to voice dial someone and their card pops up followed by call initiation. I just use the stock browser though, not chrome. Maybe it is chrome.
Also noticed there is a new location service option now, after update, for google search in addition to the previous options for verizon, google and gps. Will be interesting to see how this changes search accuracy, if at all.

I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling Google Search, it now works properly.
Regarding the turn off, it sounds like you're trying to turn it off from the lock screen. Swipe in and then try.
Otherwise I haven't had any issues with the OTA and it actually helped a lot with the volume (lowest volume was still really loud before) and I seem to be getting better WiFi signal.

How to stop phone from asking location consent?

So every time I turn on and off the GPS, I keep getting 2 location consent pop ups that I have to agree to. Is there a way to agree to it once and never have the popup again?

You can try this xposed module that disables the location consent all together. I haven't tried it myself on this phone but it worked for me on the S4

I have the same issue with having to give consent when I turn mobile data on/off. I can't stand it, if I want to turn data on/off from the lockscreen I have to unlock the phone and click ok.

I installed it and it has only taken off one of the two consent dialogs. So it's better than it was, but still not to gone as far as I can see
I noticed that if I refused to click on anything in the settings app when the consent came up it would keep coming up. After hitting anything in the settings app fixed it. Not asking for consent when turning on and off data.
BTW I discovered when I first got my Note 3 was allowing apps and Google to use networks for location discovery would drain the battery a lot. Just leave it to GPS if you need location info. Sounds strange but it works. I found GPS just for a General location does not use much battery. WiFi actually takes more juice. Seems to be the same on this phone also.

When I first started to use the G3 the phone would it would bring up a screen regard to the location settings. I am sorry I do not remember what it looked alike exactly. I just remember I would just hit the Home button and go back to whatever I was going. I eventually went to the Settings/General/Location screen and set my prefences there. After doing this I never got a screen/popup asking about location. It never asked me about location when turning off data. I did not try turning off data before adjusting the location settings.
Hope that helps.

GPS Woes

Is anyone else experiencing issues with the GPS not working? The phone is able to determine my current location but is unable to actually navigate anywhere. Google maps never shows an arrow to indicate the GPS is locked. I've also used several Gps app to help correct it. I've done multiple resets and app updates I've even sent the phone back to Nokia twice just for them to tell me nothing is wrong. My phone is running the latest update as of March 11. Please help!

Review your 'Location' settings.
Go to Settings - - > Security & Location
Look for Location (it should say On) press to open Location menu screen, review all options shown.
Near bottom of list look for Scanning and select. This will bring up options to use wifi and Bluetooth to scan for positioning. Turn them both on.
They help even when not using. System uses to triangulate (better identify location).
Also check 'Google Location Accuracy'. I know from experience if that selection is off GPS will work, but navigation Apps are fairly useless.
Some suggestions. Hope it helps.

Hello, I have this problem too, there is no solution

你好,我也遇到同样的问题,没办法解决。
turn off: Google Location Accuracy, GPS will working.
when open google maps, it will ask to turn on Google Location Accuracy .... select NO!!!
On my device, this worked. Download the app "GPS Test" from F-Driod (might be in Play Store? I never looked...) https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.android.gpstest.osmdroid/
In the app, click the "Clear assist data" wait a few minutes. I've waited between 1 - 20 minutes in the past. The GPS redoes all it's data and starts working again for me.
I had the same problem. Contacted Nokia, it's a known problem caused by an update.
About a month ago I received a new update and since then everything GPS related is working fine again.
I had the same problem and sent my phone to repair. They confirmed the issue and corrected it. Since then the GPS works well.
