Also on my fastboot screen it says: FASTBOOT MODE... then all the stuff in white.... Secure boot enabled and lock state unlocked. i can go into recovery mode, restart bootloader, and the start mode. I have no clue what to do... once again please anyone help me.

what were the steps you followed, try a wipe dalvik and if that does not work wipe data cache from recovery as well.

My phone should be arriving today but I don't think I'm going to root it straight away - I understand unlocking the boot loader wipes the phone, so if I do that can I then root later without it being wiped again? (Via the toolkit)

It will only wipe your phone after unlocking the bootloader, not after rooting.

Thanks for this! It will be a nice change to be able to use my Mac at home to mess with my phone instead of always having to do it on my Windows machine at work.

I think you can try restoring to factory mode and deleting cache via recovery mode.

Yeah I did solve it. I had to put in SuperSu first onto my phone and then when i got the option to reboot into recovery i flashed it. I also had to wipe cache and then it was fine.
I also just recently unrooted my phone and locked the boot loader. The toolkit for that was perfect.

thanks this was most useful!

Forgive me for being a bit of a n00b, I've just come back to Android after a couple of years away and it's all changed!
What order should I run the toolkits in?
As far as I can tell, it's Unlock Bootloader > Root > CWM
Is that right?

If you don't know what order to do the steps in, you don't need to be using a toolkit. The first time you root any phone, you need to do it manually. Toolkits are not a way to avoid learning, they're a convenience for the experienced.

indeed, the version currently in OP should work fully now. using supersu 1.65 should net you root. just gutta wait for teh awesome devs to make yall some roms now. there are some things still left needed to be fixed for 4.3/note3 stuff.
dont restore any backups until this selinux stuff is fixed/figured out, luckily its a note 3 issue so all the note 3 people will be working on it .
this is a 4.3 thing but dont have my recovery fix root/remove scripts. you need them for root, when i get some time ill trash that stuff and compile a better version but for now just click no

When you say don't restore any backups, are you talking about Nandroids or TiBU files?

nandroids, currently there is an issue where selinux flag isnt being set properly when restoring data and then causes bootloops. titanium backup should be good
just to be clear, i didnt root the note 3, you guys had an unlocked bootloader it means rooting was as simple as flashing recovery. i included rooting steps in my OP to help people out.

Just re-run the CF-Auto Root instructions to the T and you should be back in business. I had the same issues and just used CF auto Root and it resolved my issues and I have root with no seen issues so far. Just got the device literally 1hr ago and just finishing up on it. Also if you installed a recovery you will have to ODIN back to OUDHS to get that back. I am holding off until I see some Jellybomb

Thank you very much.
Will give this a try as soon as mine arrives.. my PC is getting too old and cluttered it'll be nice to do this device from my MAC. Thanks
Will this prevent me from getting the OTA updates? I could install them manually that doesn't bother me , but I had a bad experience when I rooted my nexus 4, when I tried to apply the update manually it didnt go through, it always gave a " operation aborted" message , why was that? Would it be the same if I root my nexus 5?
Will rooting erase my data? I know unlocking the bootloader does, but I'm not sure if rooting does

Thanks for this,
May I ask what version of Mac OS X are you using?
I'm on mavericks and I get "Root.Nexus.5" can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer"
Granted I only tested it without the phone plugged in to see what it says.
I notice all the tookits are specific to 1 task.
I want to root, unlock my bootloader and install twrp.
Is there a specific order that I should run the tool kits?

[IMP][ZU_GPe][How-To] Restore to original Google Play Edition firmware!

[ intro ]
So I recently got the ZU GPe and have been trying few things... and I messed it up bad so things were not even booting properly
I was trying to get it back to factory settings but couldnt find any direct way and no one XDA had any good info to go by...
finally i was able to get a procedure to restore to original Google Play Edition firmware! so here is a step-by-step procedure (with pictures) to restore your phone to original firmware!
[ requirement ]
a PC with USB cable
latest FULL OTA ZIP (I used this one from this thread)
adb drivers installed
[ how-to ]
[ 1 ] Get into Graphical Bootloader
to enter graphical bootloader you can either use the command:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
OR
power down device connect the USB cable to phone before connecting the other end of cable to PC keep the VOLUME UP button pressed
this will trigger Bootloader mode:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
[ 2 ] Get into Stock Recovery
while in the Graphical Bootloader use the VOLUME keys to navigate to "Recovery Mode"
now press the POWER button to select it, device will now "reboot" and trigger stock recovery entry
[ 3 ] Reveal Stock Recovery menu
at first you will see:
to combination to "reveal" the Recovery menu is:
POWER button + VOLUME DOWN (first press POWER button and then TAP the VOLUME DOWN key ONCE)
you will now see this:
[ 4 ] Flashing FULL OTA ZIP
in the recovery menu use VOLUME keys to navigate and select using POWER button
now navigate to "apply update from ADB"
select it!
this will enable "adb sideload" mode in recovery on phone
now on you PC (hope that you have downloaded the FULL OTA and kept it easily accessible) enter the following command to send the FULL OTA ZIP via sideload:
Code:
adb sideload [B]PATH-OF-FULL-OTA-ZIP-INCLUDING-ZIP-FILENAME.zip[/B]
e.g.: if u have saved the KOT49H full ota to c:\ then enter:
Code:
adb sideload c:\830f5fda644bfc55f82a4e01fb5fadae4b64fad6.update_1278-8069_R3C_KOT49H.S2.2052_Final_signed.zip
this should start the transfer process to phone and flashing will start once file is fully transferred
after flashing is complete I recommend doing a Factory Reset! THIS WILL WIPE THE INTERNAL SDCARD AND ALL DATA WILL BE LOST! select "wipe data/factory reset"
now select "reboot system now" and device will reboot! thats it!
you will now be on original Google Play Edition firmware!
hope this helps!
regards,
DooMLoRD
Thank you for this. I had gotten to the first picture in step 3 accidentally while trying to guess my way through button combo to unlock bootloader in flashtool. Glad to know there is a way to enter stock recovery if needed. My investment is already paying dividends!
@DooMLoRD I installed Minimal ADB and Fastboot and connected phone and can't figure why it doesn't show up when I type adb devices.
Edit...got it needed to go to device manager and pick drivers.
Would this overwrite the Advanced Stock Kernel with Dual Recovery? I'm looking to get my phone 100% back to stock.

I would think OEM relock should work?
I would make a backup of the unlocked TA so that you could restore that and have the data wipe that you get with OEM unlock.

Same process as for 4.4.2 except you would use advanced stock kernel v.2 this time.
Can't seem to find V.2, is that DoomKernal or a different one?

My GPE already on 4.4.3 before stuck on Google boot up screen. Already tried the above method for 4.4.2 but encountered an error of "Can't install this package (Tue Dec 10 14:17:53 CET 2013) over newer build (Mon May 12 11:10:10 CEST 2014)". Any ideas how to restore this phone?

You don't have any backups from 4.4.2? I wonder if you were to flash a custom ROM then try this method would it work? @DooMLoRD do you know?
Another question I have is can a backup be restored to a different device and if so would it put me at risk?
Example... Restore my phone to completely stock 4.4.2 then skip signing into Google accounts and create a backup to share with people needing to restore back from 4.4.3 update.

What Can These One-Click Mac Toolkits Do?
Root Nexus 6
Unroot/Unbrick Nexus 6 back to complete stock
What Does The Nexus 6 One-Click Root Toolkit Do?
The root toolkit will unlock the bootloader, install TWRP recovery, and give you step-by-step intructions on installing SuperSU to get full root access on the Nexus 6.
What Does The Nexus 6 One-Click Unroot Toolkit Do?
The unroot toolkit will completely restore the Nexus 6 back to stock using the included Google factory images and it will also lock the bootloader. This toolkit also comes in handy if you want to completely wipe the Nexus 6 or if you need to unbrick the Nexus 6.

Worked for me! Only issue I had was when I clicked on the green Android, it wanted to open up in Adobe Flash Creator or something like that. After I right clicked and opened through terminal, everything worked great!
Anxiously waiting to get off work so I can try this on my newly purchased Nexus 6.
It didn't copy over UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.35.zip, but in the end that was my only issue. Thanks!

The toolkit wasn't suppose to transfer the SuperSU, the user is suppose to transfer that file manually as stated in the directions.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. I was about to just go through hell and back to root my phone with VM. Is it possible to use this to unencrypted also? Or is that a later update?
Thanks so much for this. Mac users definitely need some love too!
Now if only there was a better way to transfer files than using Android File Transfer...

Hmmm, haven't thought about encryption. I might add a new toolkit for that later on, right now I'm getting ready for college finals! :crying:
I am stuck in a bootloop with twrp. I tried using the unroot but it says that some files are missing. It re-locked the bootloader but won't flash the stock image. I tried downloading the windows toolkit but it won't recognize the device in adb.

Make sure the bootloader is unlocked before you start the unroot toolkit and it may say that some things are missing, it happens with all Nexus devices. If you're still stuck on a bootloop after the unroot toolkit enter into Recovery mode and do a factory reset and reboot.

I tried followed those steps but it won't boot into recovery at all. It boots to the google screen twice and then tries to boot into twrp but boot loops.
Edit: for some reason the computer recognized the phone when I flashed everything manually. Thanks for the help!

Hats off to you sir! My issue I had with it not rooting was my fault. I was trying to hurry because I had to leave for work.
I got my phone rooted in like 2 minutes just now with no issues at all.
Thank you so much!!

I followed the steps outlined in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/guide-flash-factory-images-nexus-6shamu-t2954008
Note: I had to use the second option to get adb to recognize the device. I used this on a Windows machine as well.
I'm stuck in the same boot loop. Currently at a loss on how to proceed.

Ok cool but this nokia phone can't be bootloaded into; it's always locked, even if you tick on allow oem unlocking in dev settings fastboot will tell you it doesn't have permission. Whats the purpose of this? Is there some kind of way to get past it that I am not aware of?

You need to unlock bootloader, it is a paid service....
@Maherabed1986 can you add link to the bootloader unlock to your guide?

I have not seen this service anywhere, I did see that a page containing this service was deleted due to paid services, though. Regardless, I can imagine only a few handfuls of people being able to make use of this, which is a shame.. I hope in the future some method of unlocking it at home gets discovered, but that probably won't happen knowing nokia.

I also hope, not because $5 is much for it, but I rather do it myself w/o giving my IMEI or any other infos to someone. As it was on Nexus devices.

I'm new here and I don't know much about phones but I'll ask a dumb question anyway. Can't you do something about unlocking the bootloader now that you have a working rooted version w/ twrp ? If the answer is no please elaborate on why not.

@Maherabed1986 Thank you for getting this device rooted. Why does Magisk has Preserve force encryption selected by default?
Is the Nokia 6.1 encrypted by default? I had many Android devices and none were encrypted by default. I didn't know this Nokia was encrypted until I saw it on Magisk.
@Maherabed1986 Thanks so much for your efforts, I would like to contribute a dump of my boot.img for my model of Nokia 6.1 (TA-1045) but the instructions didn't quite work the way I expected, when I attempt to temp boot into the bootloader linked for the Nokia 6.1 it just boots into regular Android and then trying to su in the adb shell it tells me the command can't be found (because I am not rooted yet, of course). Am I missing something? How can I help?
