Worked for me! Only issue I had was when I clicked on the green Android, it wanted to open up in Adobe Flash Creator or something like that. After I right clicked and opened through terminal, everything worked great!

Anxiously waiting to get off work so I can try this on my newly purchased Nexus 6.

It didn't copy over UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.35.zip, but in the end that was my only issue. Thanks!

The toolkit wasn't suppose to transfer the SuperSU, the user is suppose to transfer that file manually as stated in the directions.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. I was about to just go through hell and back to root my phone with VM. Is it possible to use this to unencrypted also? Or is that a later update?

Thanks so much for this. Mac users definitely need some love too!
Now if only there was a better way to transfer files than using Android File Transfer...

Hmmm, haven't thought about encryption. I might add a new toolkit for that later on, right now I'm getting ready for college finals! :crying:

I am stuck in a bootloop with twrp. I tried using the unroot but it says that some files are missing. It re-locked the bootloader but won't flash the stock image. I tried downloading the windows toolkit but it won't recognize the device in adb.

Make sure the bootloader is unlocked before you start the unroot toolkit and it may say that some things are missing, it happens with all Nexus devices. If you're still stuck on a bootloop after the unroot toolkit enter into Recovery mode and do a factory reset and reboot.

I tried followed those steps but it won't boot into recovery at all. It boots to the google screen twice and then tries to boot into twrp but boot loops.
Edit: for some reason the computer recognized the phone when I flashed everything manually. Thanks for the help!

Hats off to you sir! My issue I had with it not rooting was my fault. I was trying to hurry because I had to leave for work.
I got my phone rooted in like 2 minutes just now with no issues at all.
Thank you so much!!

I followed the steps outlined in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/guide-flash-factory-images-nexus-6shamu-t2954008
Note: I had to use the second option to get adb to recognize the device. I used this on a Windows machine as well.

I'm stuck in the same boot loop. Currently at a loss on how to proceed.

what were the steps you followed, try a wipe dalvik and if that does not work wipe data cache from recovery as well.
My phone should be arriving today but I don't think I'm going to root it straight away - I understand unlocking the boot loader wipes the phone, so if I do that can I then root later without it being wiped again? (Via the toolkit)

Yeah I did solve it. I had to put in SuperSu first onto my phone and then when i got the option to reboot into recovery i flashed it. I also had to wipe cache and then it was fine.
I also just recently unrooted my phone and locked the boot loader. The toolkit for that was perfect.
thanks this was most useful!
Forgive me for being a bit of a n00b, I've just come back to Android after a couple of years away and it's all changed!
What order should I run the toolkits in?
As far as I can tell, it's Unlock Bootloader > Root > CWM
Is that right?

If you don't know what order to do the steps in, you don't need to be using a toolkit. The first time you root any phone, you need to do it manually. Toolkits are not a way to avoid learning, they're a convenience for the experienced.

[root] Root and unlock Bootloader without wipe data on Mac, Linux and Windows

I have found a new way to root and unlock the Nexus 4 without wipe of Data.
Okay I now that fastboot oem unlock is very easy but if you have setup your fone already with tons of music it's really annoying to copy everything allover again...
After rooting unlock your phone with BootUnlocker for Nexus Devices from Play Store.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.segv11.bootunlocker
Then you are able to install a recovery through Rom Manager app from Play store for example.
Here is the new way of root with Motochopper:
It works on Windows, OS-X and Linux. And it will root your device in about a minute. I have done it on 4.2.2 and never ever have had it more simple.
Check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2228613
Morlok8k said:
I got my TF300T with JB preinstalled. So I've never been able to root until today. (I didn't want to unlock my bootloader.)
Motochopper is a root method made for the Motorola Razr HD by djrbliss (Dan Rosenberg), but is said to work on many other devices, including non-motorola ones.
I tried motochopper on my TF300T. I was rooted in about a minute!
Confirmed working with:
TF300T - 4.1.1
TF300T - 4.2.1
TF300TG - 4.1.1
TF201
TF700 - 4.1.1
TF700 - 4.2.1
ME301T - 4.2.1 (Memo Smart Pad 10)
Nexus 7 - Link
Motorola Droid 2 Global - 2.3.4 (1 success, 1 failure?)
Failures:
Motorola Droid 4 - 4.1.2
TF700KL - 4.1.1
Notes:
It installs SuperSu (which will ask to be updated)
It installs busybox 1.17 (which you will have to update manually)
Backup your root with Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper!!!
This does not touch your bootloader.
This is mainly for people that just want root, and don't want to deal with (or need) unlocking.

Thanks for posting this
it worked perfectly on my brand new Nexus 4 (4.2.2)
One more thing: Once you have flashed a recovery like CWM you can lock your bootloader with the app again. When you only flash from your device the bootloader doesn't need to be unlocked. Just download all ROMs with your device and flash it from there. That keeps your Google bootscreen clean without the lock. I love it that way.
( sorry slightly off topic )...do we really need a custom recovery to flash kernels and ROMs? Can stock recovery of our nexus not flash the above?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Stock recovery has signature checking....so no you cant use it to flash custom firmwares with it.

Then use Nexus boot unlocker to unlock the phone without getting your data wiped. The only requirement is that you are rooted. Then you can lock and unlock your bootloader with that tool as you like.

Worked for me. Had to do the process for rooting 2 times, though.
First time, it just installed the Supersu apk and rebooted, and then it showed su binaries are missing. Did the process once again, after the reboot, it was perfectly rooted.

If there are no comments, then it means that everybody understands what they have to do.
Plus, the same thing can be achieved if you just flash a custom recovery after bootloader unlock, and wipe cache, without bootinh normally at all.

Has anyone tried this on a galaxy nexus?
And if I understand this right, it will give root without needing to unlock the bootloader. This means that it will NOT wipe data (unlike fastboot oem unlock), right?

No, you will unlock the bootloader, and install a custom recovery, but you won't boot after doing so. The first boot after bootloader unlock will delete all your data. Instead, you will boot in recovery, and wipe cache. After doing so, your data will be safe.

Will give this a try as soon as mine arrives.. my PC is getting too old and cluttered it'll be nice to do this device from my MAC. Thanks
Will this prevent me from getting the OTA updates? I could install them manually that doesn't bother me , but I had a bad experience when I rooted my nexus 4, when I tried to apply the update manually it didnt go through, it always gave a " operation aborted" message , why was that? Would it be the same if I root my nexus 5?
Will rooting erase my data? I know unlocking the bootloader does, but I'm not sure if rooting does

I went and installed this Rom, and the Youtube App wont connect to the server, thus the videos wont play. It lets me log into the google account, but every video i try says "cant connect to server tap to retry"
Has anyone else had this issue?

I hadn't noticed it until you mentioned it but, yeah, same problem here. I'm trying to figure out what the problem is.. For now you can uninstall the updates to the app and it will work.
**EDIT: It looks like a lot of people have been having this problem on lots of devices so I'm not sure what the deal is. I did find that if you keep tapping the video that it will eventually play...seems like if you play with it you can find a pattern that works relatively consistently. It's still annoying though.
Just quickly pinging this thread so I can find it later, since XDA refuses to consider a section for Fuhu's Android tablets.

Why not a thread for fuhu tablets?

How long did you wait? That first boot can take what seems like forever.

Yeah, something didn't go right...I'd try wiping and re-installing and if it still doesn't work then it might be a bad download.

Hmm, did it give any info about the error? Which version of TWRP do you have? Did you have the 2.4 nabi software or something else?

I tried doing a restore to a stock rom, that didn't work.
I also tried just doing a install and that didn't work either.
Maybe I'm not putting the stock rom on the correct folder for restore?

2.2.2.1 is way too old. Will boot but won't work at all if the tablet was on Jellybean or higher.

I wish I knew what Nabi build you were on to begin with.
I would try this in order. Flash this in TWRP(Install tab)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50431160&postcount=97
This has a more detailed log. If you see stuff in the log about not mounting, etc then it's not going to work. (Actually this is a good thing which means your bootloader is Jellybean)
If that doesn't work try this next. Install this in TWRP. This is what you are going to need to be on eventually anyway if you are trying to run a Jellybean port.
http://nabtabhacks.com/downloads/twrp-recovery-JBNV7AUS-271.zip (There are more recent versions as well I just gave you this one because I know for sure it works for Nabixus)

So either the update-binary in those zips are too new for 2.2.2.1 or you have the jellybean bootloader. How did you get 2.2.2.1 on there to begin with? What did you use?

I didn't use anything, it was there already.

General Root seems to be broken on December update / don't flash until it's solved

There is some talk in the P6 race to brick Telegram group, it seems that the december update is causing root to fail.
So until this is fixed/solved, DO NOT UPDATE IF YOU WANT TO RETAIN ROOT.

He is working for the enemy now, was only a matter of time for problems to arise since he already stopped supporting MagiskHide at the behest of Google^^
Maybe Magisk just needs an update, maybe we have a bigger problem, we'll see
Nah, he'll find root or another Magisk developer will.
Cant we flash a patched stock boot image after the problem is solved?
As OP stated, do not update to December if you want to keep root. I did before I checked forums and lost root. Rolling back to November to hopefully regain access to root.

Please report back if its possible to roll back
I don't see any update when I check for update on my Pixel 6.
Do I need to something to get the update? I ma not rooted and hence do not worry about rooting.

Tread carefully, someone tried dirty flashing which then required a clean flash.

Yup, dirty flashed failed and requiring a clean flash. Good learning experience and lesson for me, don't jump the gun with the newest updates.
Assumptions made when I flashed December update on 4A 5G without any problems... c'est la vie.

You'll likely have to use the Google reset to factory process to ever use the phone again. I haven't rooted my Pixel 6 yet, though, so I can't confirm. But that's how I fixed a bad Pixel 5 update.

Google Pixel - Update and Software Repair
Need a USB cable and Chrome (I think, never used a different browser for it).
Again, I can't confirm this works but it's just an educated guess

just try it, only work up to google 5
Okay, so for anyone else here who tries to root using the December patch and gets stuck on the Google logo screen, here are the steps I took to fix it:
1. Hold down the power button until the phone turns off
2. Enter fastboot via holding down the power button and volume down
3. Attach a usb cable to a computer, download the factory image zip, then extract it
4. Once extracted, double click on "flash-all.bat," this will reflash every single component of the image to your phone and once it's done, will reboot and should boot as if nothing ever happened.
