[Q] How do I update my firmware? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Hi. I am currently s-off and would like to install the meanbean rom. My firmware is out of date and I am not exactly sure how to update it. I don't want to take any risks of losing my s-off. Can someone point me in the right direction of going about updating my firmware while retaining s-off? Many thanks.

Just go to the thread xHausx has and download the 3.1? firmware that DOESN'T have the new hboot, kernel and recovery. Rename it to PJ75IMG.zip and flash through bootloader.

Appreciate the help! Thanks.

Hmm. I seem to be having a problem. I followed the steps to run the zip file through the bootloader and everything was a go, but my baseband still seems to still be at 1.12. Any ideas?

Here is the reference link.

well done!!
I wonder if there is a way to upgrade hboot?...
Why wouldn't there be?

If you are running CM like it says in your sig, reboot to bootloader and check the top of the screen.
Sweet.. Gingerbread already
I do have the aforementioned H-boot, but seeing as it does not have market, I'm not that willing to try just yet.
Thanks guys. 33.xxxx something LOL. I need a magnifying glass to read it
So who is in the flashing process..as of right now
Installing the Korean FRF91, your SPL updates to 35.0017.

Can't you just flash Google Apps separately? Been having to do that with CM anyway.
Can't download now as I'm at work.. Has anyone flashed this yet?
Just grab the apps from the WIP gingerbread build
CAUTION! Flashing the .35 Hboot changes your recovery partition. If you are using Amon 2.0.0 it may cause problems if you have bad blocks. Amon discussed the issue here about a week ago: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9690514&postcount=1467
You can flash an older version of Amon and it should be ok. It fixed mine at least.

where is the stock rooted latest update?

Sorry for the noob question. I am not a noob to rooting or flashing, but I am new to the 3d. I just got one sent to me from Asurion. It has hboot 1.40, which I know I can root with revolutionary, which I am going to do shortly. But the software is on 1.13.651.7, which I can see if the rom the phone originally shipped with.
So I am trying to find a stock rooted version of the latest update from a few days ago. I just spent a half hour trying to find it, and all I can find is unrooted versions of it, which will probably update my hboot to 1.5, which I dont want. So can y'all help me out and point me to the thread with the stock rooted zip of the latest update that I can flash WITHOUT updating my hboot?

can anyone find me a link where i can do this? thanks!
The kernel is in the boot.img. You have to be s-off flash a kernel in recovery. Otherwise you need a PH98IMG.zip of your kernel to flash in bootloader.

Any boot.img that you don't push with fastboot commands would have to be in a PH98IMG.zip to flash in boot loader.
And someone would have to make a zip out of your kernel for you.

i did. i cant find anything on how to install that kernel, and the tings i found on how to turn s-off, are all out of date. im running 2.25 hboot, and ive only seen 1.25
and the boot.img is not inside the files for the kernel because its a recovery flash install. but he said thats theres a file PH98IMG.zip but i cant not find it anywhere in the phone or files.
if i found that file. i can install it, because i found dirtctions how to do it, but i cannot find that file. and i cant find clear directions on how to to s-off to do it through recovery
You have to be s-off to flash a kernel in recovery. But you can flash the kernel in PH98IMG form in bootloader with s-on.

tampered/locked/s-off [solved]

VERY long story how I got here, won't get into it. I'm now on hboot 1.12 and need to re-unlock my bootloader. As stated in title, I'm s-off with a tampered/locked status. If someone can point me in the right direction, that would be awesome.

If you have s-off, you don't need to unlock. You can flash things through the bootloader. What are you trying to do? Recovery? Update firmware? Once you're s-off through Lazypanda or Dirty Racun you keep s-off.

[Q] Trying to do an OTA

Hello,
So I want to do an OTA from 4.4.2 > 4.4.3 on my One (M8).
I have Un-rooted, flashed a stok recovery and already have stock firmware.
Yet when I try and install it I get to about 1/4 then it shows a red triangle with an exclamation point.
I'm not sure what I've done wrong!
Please help
Many thanks

Have you disabled or removed any other system apps or made any other changes or mods to the system?
Oh, also, you probably need to relock the bootloader. Not sure about OTAs since I never ever do OTAs as they are the least desirable way to update, but via RUUs or firmware updates for HTCs you have to relock, so doubtful it's different here.

Thanks for the reply.
So I just re-locked the boatloader and ran the OTA.
I got the same result, a red triangle with an exclamation point.
I don't think I have modded anything, I did install viper rom, but I then backed up to a pervious stock version.
Any suggestions?

But without knowing which version of the phone you have, if it came from a carrier, what build version and firmware version are currently installed, etc, then can't really provide much more detailed instructions. If you aren't sure, re-read that first post again and use the fastboot commands to find out the important stuff.

The 3 ways are OTA, RUU, or firmware upgrade zip if S-Off. Pretty sure there won't be an RUU for 4.4.3 yet as it just dropped recently. You could try to RUU back to official 4.4.2 and try the OTA then if the nandroid restore doesn't help, but those are the only ways.
