We are stuck in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1990705 trying to root optimus L9 variants, for now the Backup and restore method by the dev Bin4ry didn't work.
Does anybody have an idea?

If you HARD RESET the phone and then flash any official factory (unrooted) KDZ, your phone is like factory variant and no one will know it was ever flashed or rooted before. So Relax !!
But you should flash only the KDZ which is released in your country. Just imagine, you are from Romania and you flashed official but CHINESE KDZ? Its weird, Right? he he he.
PS: If am not wrong, in all countries rooting voids the warranty. Not sure about SEA and CIS countries.

Cant get it rooted
I bought my lg optimus l9 about a month ago and due to only 2.3gb of internal memory I can not move apps and games from phone memory to micro SD. Because of that my usage on this phone is limited.
I have tried to root it and have followed many online guides and videos but I just cant get it done.
My phone is kernel 3.0.21 and software version is P76010h-EUR-XX.
I would be so thankful to anyone who could lead me to the right direction and could help me get this phone rooted and apps moved to micro SD.
I know I can move them manually when the phone is connected with USB to PC, but isnt there a way I could move them in my phone, like my previous x10 mini had the Move to SD Card chance enabled, but in my new phone there is no such button or whatever.
I have also tried apps such as Link2SD but it doesent work, I believe that the device needs to be rooted and I cant get it done.
I have installed PC suite to my PC and followed root guides, I run the Bat file, do everything correctly, the phone restarts but there is no super user and also Root Checker app shows that my device is not rooted.
I feel so dissapointed in this phone beacause I can only keep limited apps and games on the phone due to low memory capacity.
If I could get this phone rooted and then mayby the Link2SD will help me get my apps and games moved to SD card, I would be so happy.
So please, if there is anyone who could help me, I would really need it beacause I am helpless at the moment and dont know what to do anymore.

Wrong move!! The forum is for everyone, everyone learns from everyone else. You should have only ignore it and let the forum RIP in its own course.
Now as you have deleted OP, all rest of the participants looks like ORPHANS. If you still have the copy of OP paste it and REQUEST for LOCK-DOWN. Deleting OP like this on your own is not right move. As a senior member you should have known LOCK option. When locked it goes down automatically but if someone want old information he/she can search.
Hope you get my point.

mmm i believe the best update for u20i is to MiniCM7 2.1.8 + nAa - 10 Kernel from NobodyAtAll.
visit the development section of the x10 mini pro to check the rom and the kernel and download them.
i'll revert back to you with a full tutorial on how to flash your phone with an update 2.3.7 within 6 hours as eyes are around me here at work i can't stay on XDA too long!

mmm look man i'll help you and write you a tutorial an easier one please do not continue now or you may brick your phone.
i'll include inside the tutorial everything you need to root and install CWM in one shot.
also remember this tutorial is only for ROMS Kernel flashing is not included but it is easy and there is a link for a very simple tutorial to unlock bootloader and install new kernel like nAa-10.
so for the moment stop what you are doing for your phone while i finish writing the document simplified.

If you take a look at the other topics here for a second and ask yourself if yours resembles anything like the others the answer will be no.

CWM is outdated for you, maybe because you are using an old firmware.
flash CF-ROOT with your corresponding firmware version, then flash a custom rom. all new roms, often comes with CWM and is updated.

The ONLY times you should be posting in dev forum is if its in reply to a topic, You should NOT be creating topics in there, simple!
You want to ask questions do it in the questions forum, how hard is that to grasp???
Think about it, if any n00b was allowed to create a questions topic in dev forum it would turn into a mess and we wouldn't even see all the real dev topics, this is why the Q&A forum was created!

I just installed original ROM from Samsung, russian region. And root device again. That's it.

Yes, although it's very rare to actually hard-brick it.
If your phone is built before 11w29 (take off the back-cover and read the sticker), actually hard-bricking it is unlikely.
The only thing you have to worry about then is the simlock-certificate, if S1Tool says it's unrecognised it's going to be difficult, if it's SEMC simlock certificate, you should be ok.

You can still brick it, but in the vast majority of cases, restoring to stock rom and relocking the bootloader will get you going again, which are things you can do yourself
I can use SIM provided by any network. My phone doesn't have any restriction. So that should prevent certificate issue right?

Yes, you should be ok. just make sure you check if you still have network-access after unlocking the bootloader, by booting up before doing anything else. If you get a signal, you can do whatever you please
After unlocking bootloader if I don't get any signal should I promptly go to back to stock ROM using PC companion? Or is there anything that can be done to prevent signal loss . :screwy: :banghead: Excuse me if this question is too simple to be asked.

If you don't get signal, relock the bootloader

Rename the zip you downloaded to .ftf, put it in the firmwares subfolder where you installed flashtool, and flash...
(some browsers recognise the .ftf file for what it really is: a zip-file with a different extension, and automatically rename it when they download it, changing the extension again will make it show up in flashtool)
This is awesome. Before trying Gingerbread I thought of going with froyo I installed Remix V 3.2 coz I could do it using xrecovery. My phone went into bootloop :screwy:. I had missed a crucial step in the procedure. I found out what and it worked well.
Now i'm back to stock coz all gingerbread rom ask the phone to be on stock kernel.
Unable to download flashtool due to internet issues. As soon as I get my hand on that, i'll unlock bootloader and flash gingerbread.
I hope i'm on right track.

I downloaded the file from the same location. I even tried with 0.7.1.0 version. That too gave the same error.
Can't stop loving X10mini

[Q] Is there anyway to unroot without losing data?

Hi there,
I have rooted my phone (X10 Mini) and would like to know how to unroot it without losing data. Now, before some of you go into the assumption that I hadn't searched up for any other threads, I have, and since those answers were either pretty useless or applied to those particular devices, I figured I might try to find a method specific to this device.
Any help would be appreciated!
And btw does the SuperOneClick unroot function actually work?
Thanks,
DrShellgon :fingers-crossed:

You won't lose any data and yes, SuperOneClick works, but you can also do it with flashtool, it's easier.
Thanks guys for replying btw is it possible if you guys give me step by step instructions and the website where I actually download the software? It's just that the website says you have to pay $29.99 and I'm not sure if it's the right one, and they don't mention unrooting.
Thanks,

Hi Emperor.dk,
Are you sure that using the unroot feature of SuperOneClick will NOT erase any data on the device? Sorry to be so bothersome, but I don't want to take the risk.
Thanks,

It won't erase any data on the device, it will just give access to the system areas.
If your data is that important to you though, i would advice you to get a decent backup app from the playstore and keep a copy of your data on your sd-card or your computer
Hi guys, thanks for your reply. As the reason why I would like to root in the first place is to reinstall app data from my current phone when the time comes, is it possible to reinstall an app (like Angry Birds, for example) using the same gmail account for my current phone onto another phone and reinstall the app data as well?
Any answer would be appreciated.
Thanks,
DrShellgon :fingers-crossed:
you can use a google account to multiple phones and you can restore your data. i did not tested restore data from pay apps on multiple phones.

So guys, just to be sure, I just use SuperOneClick, click unroot, and then it will be unrooted without loss of data or wiping, or factory resets required?
Any answer would be helpful, I just want to be complete sure and I apologize for being repetitive.
Thanks

The better way would be to do it using flashtool, but yes, you will lose no data or need a factory reset.
Thanks SmG67 for your help, it really helps a lot.

No, this is mainly for Sony Ericsson devices, different brands have different methods of rooting, with some it even means losing your data. So make sure you read up on your other phone if it's not a Sony, and maybe root it before you put anything worth while on it
Once your phone is rooted, you can always turn off root access with the installed superuser-app, and turn it on again if you need it, and that won't lose you any data.
So are you saying the flashtool unrooting or the SuperOneClick method will not work for non-Sony's?

Not sure about every device, since i've only got experience with Sony, but there's a brief list of supported devices in this thread for SuperOneClick.

{Root} Xperia Go 6.1.1.B.1.54

Hi everybody
I searched a lot and was surprised to find, there exists no tutorial on how to root Xperia GO 6.1.1.B.1.54
I'm creating one now, hoping it would help someone. Please let me know if i'm doing anything wrong by posting this thread. ( I'll delete as soon as possible )
Sorry
ROOTING
We cannot root this build directly , hence we need to flash 6.1.1.B.1.10 Kernel, run the rooting toolkit, and then flash 6.1.1.B.1.54 kernel.
Go to settings > Security > Mark "Unknown sources"
Settings > Developer options > Mark USB debugging
1) Download only this version of Flashtool 0.9.8.0 . Install it and restart your PC.
2) Download 6.1.1.B.1.10 Kernel
Place this kernel in C:/ Drive > flashtool > firmwares > Kernel file
3) Run Flashtool > click on the flashing icon ( left side below "file" option) > Select flashmode >
Setup should be like this
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}

4)Follow the steps, connect your mobile and flash. Note: while connecting to PC, hold volume down key instead of back button.
Once flashing's finished, close flashtool, disconnect your phone and switch it on.
5) Download the rooting toolkit by Bin4ry Link Rooting Toolkit
and Extract it on your PC. Run it and select Normal mode. Follow the on-screen instructions it shows, carefully
6) Once rooting toolkit is done, download and flash the 6.1.1.B.1.54 Kernel

Ofcourse, Sony for xperia go
I know it's a stupid question but can you use flashtool and flash kernels even if you are not rooted?

Hi
Yes, there is no harm in using flashtool to flash kernels even if you wouldn't want to root it, but could be a little more clear with your question ?
I'm not completely sure what you exactly mean.
Sorry

No probs
I use Flashtool Version 0.9.10.1 and I use Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18(I will download the update v26)
viola. .my android phone ICS.54 is now rooted
I did root it before without using this method, by unchecking all the wipe and exclude boxes, leaving the kernel uncheck. .in doing that so, I just flash the kernel. .
in contrary, this is the fast way of flashing ICS .54. .flashing the kernels ftf file. .
now thats smart. .thanks to you no unchecking boxes for me!!. .just flash it!. .:good::good:
And I just updated my supersu from playstore. .it works!. .

Additional info, I did install flashtool drivers first before flashing it, Its my way logical thinking, maybe its a protocol to install drivers first before flashing anything?..hehe, anyways thanks again
Nice tutorial Nabeel.
I believe it is same as this one http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/58527?start=0&tstart=0

Yup,
You used that earlier ?
And ofcourse, I was surprised man. XDA is known for rooting and development, and no tutorial for Xperia Go
Few people only search on XDA and nothing outside it
I've my signature full of useful threads. it may help people with rooting
Oh EDIT : No that's not my tutorial, I don't have any info about it, i thought you linked my tutorial on the forum
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/97327
Tested
it works
Sent from my ST27i using xda premium
Thanks for the kernel files!
There is already a tutorial

Nabeel, i know that u wanted to do a favor, but there is already a tutorial for rooting here in xda, this is the link to the tutorial
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36741604&postcount=2
and also i think this is not the proper section for a tutorial since this isn't developing..

Omg, sorry :fingers-crossed:
And yes, I checked that link earlier, but it doesn't have a tutorial / kernel files for xperia go
And moreover , I observed ( before posting this thread) that similar rooting threads of xperia sola and xperia p existed in development section, that's why i thought it would be better if i put it here.. ( Easily accessible for Go users as well )
But I know it's wrong ,
Can you help me further by letting me know which moderator I should contact to, to get this thread placed in right section
Thanks
EDIT : or if it's not that bad case let's leave it here ? what say ?

well its not a problem for me at all lol but i guess you should contact any of the moderators and ask them if this should be moved or not, this is the list of moderators u can ask to
Diamondback, _Arjen_, eagleeyetom, iridaki, krook6023, TeeJay3800, YZ, kangi26, Andy, bigjoe2675, il Duce, ApriliaM3
anyways thanks for the good intentions but try to post on the right section from now on?
edit: oh and regarding the tutorial, yes i know that there are not kernel files, but thats because its a general thread for P, U, Sola and go so thats why, but it explains what u must do in order to get root when you are in a newer version than .10 fw
Thank u for the thread, it helping me so much
