My galaxy S2 keeps crashing my TP-LINK router - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone.
When my father got his samsung s2, suddendly my tp-link was loosing its wifi connection, while lan kept working.
In the days when he is not at home, wifi doenst crash, but when he arrives sooner or later after he connects his s2 to our wifi network it goes down.
Recently my dad moved out and i've acquired a s2 to my own. And i think the same is happening with mine too.
And as u may know its really annoying wifi keeps crashing when i have 3 devices that rely on it.

[Q] Multiple access points cause wifi to drop

My WiFi keeps dropping - and it's really bugging me now. Every few seconds it'll drop switch to GPRS (arrrgh) and then reconnect to the WiFi.
Any connections I have open are immediately dropped - which is really frustrating.
The problem only happened since I upgrade to KJ1 O2 ROM - which is all stock, no root etc.
I have two access points, one on channel 2 and the other on channel 13, which are both free (I live in the sticks, no competition for wifi, but also no 3G) - when I disable one of my access points, the connection stays stable. I've tried running on each of them alone and it's fine.
As soon as I switch back to having both (which I need to cover my house) it starts dropping connections again. I assume it's jumping between the two, but it's not handling it correctly.
I don't have any issues roaming around with any other devices (although this is my only Android one).
Does anybody else have this issue or any ideas?
So... just me then?

no it's not just you ... i had the same problem, i searched over the internet and found this :
1. this bug is present and known for many years but no one cares to fix it.
2. it seems to appear when you use the same ssid but on two (or more) different devices.
3. it appears only with certain devices ... so i'm planning to change one of them (the one that costs less ) and see what happens ...
i'll let you know.
did you find any solution/workaround ?
ohh , i forgot also to mention that i tested this using a samsung galaxy note and a samsung galaxy Y , both had similar issues.
however on my samsung galaxy tab 10.1 everything worked perfectly , as it did for my laptop ....

I have in work 3 different wifi hotspots, all have the same SSID and WPA passwords. 2 of these have an little overlap in their coverage.
I have no wifi problem on my SGSII (running GB and ICS) when I walk from one area to another.
The wifi-standard is full of flaws. You can do all kind of crazy stuff against networks.
Anyway, as they aren't running on the same channel, try this:
Set different SSIDs.
Set different encryptions (just NOT WEP!) - set one to WPA and one to WPA2.
Try standing directly next to one and look it the stability of the connections changes.
Just some ideas...

what is the maker/model of your access points ? are they all the same ? the bug is known to present in some brands and only if you mix them with others ...

[Q] Wi-Fi Problem

Hello,
I am having a problem with my Xperia S, sometimes I am not able to pickup a Wi-Fi signal that another phone of mine is picking up, I do not know if the problem is that the phone cannot pickup all Wi-Fi Channels. Last time I repaired the phone with Sony only to get it working by unplugging and plugging the router. Today it happened again but this time unplugging didn't solve the problem, did anybody get this problem and came up with a solution?
Latest Stock Rom
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards
Use a channel that's allowed in your firmware. 4 to 7 are usually a safe bet.

Thanks for the answer, i will try it. What i found strange is that both zte blade and a Samsung Galaxy S was able to pickup the wi-fi I supose each firmware has it's channels specified.
Best regards

[Q] No progress to connect Adhoc netwrok for S3?

HELLO PLZ HELP ME OUT..
After 3 days of research over internet i finally can tell that i have successfully rooted my SAMSUNG S 3(i9300) ver (4.1.1) but still i am not able to find any strong development on ADHOC enabler of galaxy s3.
I am not able to connect My rooted Samsung Galaxy S3 jelly bean with WiFi shared via Adhoc method from my laptop (Vista Sp-2) or can say that with Ad-hoc network. I tried to root my newly purchased S3 and installed WIFI adhoc enabler and also replaced the wpa_supplicant, But still adhoc network are not working.
I followed this method but no success on Samsung Galaxy (i-93000 V 4.1 Jelly bean )
Please help me out its very urgent as i am not having Wifi connection I am using USB 3g Internet
No solution that I know of...
There are some work arounds posted for WiFi tethering, but I have not seen a solution that provides ad-hoc wifi support for Galaxy S III or Nexus 7. Since these devices have been around for some time now, this is either not a important problem (perhaps work arounds make it less of a problem) or a very hard problem, or even worse... both.
I would like to connect to the Brookstone Rover 2.0 for example, but cannot unless I can solve the ad-hoc WiFi issue. The workarounds are not of any help so far.
I have not jumped into a deep technical review of the issue so I cannot comment. I was hoping someone already had this worked out or was working on it. If not then I will start looking more closely at the problem.
Still no response
Plz help me out still i am not lucky enough

Sorry for reviving a very old thread but I too have a s3 (i747m with JB 4.1.1 stock rooted) that I've tried getting adhoc working. I've also tried everything the OP mentioned with no luck. I have a laptop (running WinXP) in my company truck that's has a 24/7 cell data connection. With my iphone5 I can connect using adhoc no problem but the s3 will not even detect the ssid. I've been reading for the last 3 days and haven't found a solution to this. I'm hoping someone has finally released some sort of patch. Failing that I'm due for a computer upgrade soon so hopefully I'll get win7

S3 wireless signal problems

Hello. I bought a S3 Pebble Blue 16gb about 6 months ago. The prone its not locked and camed from Free Mobile network in France. Since then I had wifi problems ... signal dropping, constant speed 5Mb, no wifi N. I waited for new firmwares ... tried modified ROM's like Omega but still no luck. With the new ROM for France JZO54K I can see some small improvements (the wifi connects a little faster and there is a small increase in speed) but the wifi is still pretty unusable. I have 3 different Wifi N Routers at Home and all connect for a brief time at 65MB or &@ in wifi N and then drops to wifi B or G down to 5MB or 1 MB. When I connect for 30 seconds the internet works well but after that u cannot use it anymore ... the speed is very very low. The 3G network works a lot faster than my wifi. I have tried different routers and the same results. I invited 2 of my friend with Galaxy s3 and their phones connect ok in wifi N 72MB to my router. I have a Iphone and Ipad that both work well on my network so the routers are out of the question. I have tried all the "fixes" i could find on the internet with no luck. Do you think this could be a problem that the guarantee could fix it? I dont want to send the phone and to get it back the same when they see that the wifi works ... but with 5mb ....
I made a small movie to explain the "things" better.

I have the same problem, although my phone worked perfectly for about 6 months. I thought in the beginning that my WiFi chip was broken. through multiple drops from small distances. But I can't help you more then just saying that I have EXACTLY the same problem. The WiFi at home works for my PC, MAC, Ipad, Iphone(s), and all my other media, flawlessly. So the only thing I can think of is that we join forces and search the forums and keep track of new ways to fix the issue. Good luck and please post back if You find the solution.
Thanks for the reply. I'm considering calling Samsung for the waranty but I allready know their answer ... "does the wifi works ? ... yes ... Well there is no problem" and the waiting time in France I heard its from 2 to 6 weeks ...
There are some smart solutions one can try but they require some software on Pc and so forth. Look at the post named (my galaxy s3 won't connect to wifi), on the Q&A section for sgs3 here. They give some tips

Hi dude.
Now after some time I have a working phone. This phone has given me more then one headache. The wifi problem I had seemed to be kernel specific. When I started with faryaabs supernexus rom M1 (latest) the phone seemed to work. Instead the phone startes freezing. I solved this to through the DFG method in the ulultimate freezing thread here on xda. So my recommendation is to root install cmw recovery and try faryaabs latlatest rom. Heck you might like it.
Im currently on the leaked 4.2.2 touchwiz. Works ok!!
Cheers
