As we all know, Stelios97 made a working port of ICS for the X10 mini. fifo171 has tested the same rom on his X8 and has confirmed that it works for the X8 as well. This thread is to further develop this rom so we X8 users can have ICS. On the 27th November 2011,troufiniou and has further developed this rom ! Thnx guys !
Notice :In this thread, we'll be focusing on troufiniou's releases. If you would like to try stelious97's rom, the link is provided below but i don't think i will be posting his releases as he is developing for the x10 mini and not the X8, whereas troufiniou is with us in the X8 department. Please do not ask for ETA's and I will not tolerate posts like "when will be ready 100%, when will be stable and etc". Also, if anyone disrespects the thread, not counting if they are disrespecting devs or normal users, you will be reported and hopefully banned ! You have been warned. Also, troufiniou and n1kolaa are working around the clock to get the ICS port working for us, so please show some respect and do not make demands be thankful we even have devs helping us !

*Extract contents and select "checkts .cmd"
*Make sure USB DEBUGGING is enabled on your phone
*Connect your phone to your PC but do not mount SD CARD
*Let the CMD run and it will state if Cypress or Synaptics was detected
Unlock Bootloader

Place rom on your sd card
Go to CWM Recovery
Full wipe

Primary objectives : Fix network coverage, wifi, bluetooth, camera, basically everything and compatibility for cypress users (hang in there guys)
If you're not happy with this rom, simply full wipe, wipe cache, wipe data and restore your backup ! As for the kernel, you can use any kernel you prefer.
P.S.
1. I am not a developer. I am merely providing info and links based on troufiniou's progress. All credits go to the devs and the testers.
2. This rom only works with synaptics digitizer users. Cypress users will have to use stock kernel fix (read the requirements section - 1st post) along with v008 for now
3. Please read the 1st page before asking useless questions or making stupid complaints !!!

Hi, I'm new member and because of low number of my posts I can't ask directly in devs thread.
Yesterday I flashed TheBrainsROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2025633). Really smooth one and I like it, but now I find out, that there is no NFC functionality :crying:
My questions are:
- Will be there NFC available in future version of this ROM?
- And in case of "no" answer - could someone pls give me a tip for similar (no lags, good performance, ...) ROM based on 6.1.1.B.1.54 firmware?

hi all, I'm new in this forum (but not in modding devices). I'm looking for a rom for my Xperia U. It is unbranded but with a locked bootloader (Root status = No). Please, I need as an opinion: wich is the best rom to fit this conditions?
- For locked bootloader
- Sony styled (something like stock look)
- Almost all bloatware removed (less than 3 pages in the app drawer)
- Mods and tweaks applied

Instructions :
Download MyROM.
Put it in your phone
Backup important items before flashing
Reboot Recovery
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Wipe Cache
Flash my6.zip
Take yor time, go through the installer and carefully select your options.
Install ROM.
Reboot.

Some user apps tend to force close.
Fix : Follow the steps to fix the FC -
Run File Manager
Tap menu button (hardware key for sure)
I believe you should see 'Settings'. Go to Settings
Tap General Settings
In Advanced section, you will see 'Access Mode'. By default it is 'Safe Mode'. Change it to Root Access Mode
Grant root permissions
Now go back twice
In the bottom-right corner of your screen, you will see 3 icons, tap the middle one (it is called 'book marks')
Go to Root Folder
Go to data folder, then app folder. Then re-install the apks you will find there (which FC)

F.A.Q
1. Why is MyROM huge in size (about 500MB) whereas other ROMs' size range from 300-400MB?
Ans. This is because, MyROM includes all apps that are available for user selection (eg. Facebook, Whatsapp etc.). This adds to size of ROM. The first build is only 500MB, next builds will be even bigger, but it does mean that more things will be packed (i.e more customization).
2. Why does some user app which comes with , force close?
Ans. This is because, installer just pushes apps to its respective folder (/data/app), but when we originally install .apks normally, some library files are copied to system, which is not yet done by installer. So to fix FC, go to /data/app and install those apps which FC again as normal apk (by just tapping them). A fix may be available soon. (I may be wrong in this solution, please correct me if it is so).

It is compatible with Samsung Galaxy Star ofcourse. No word on release date as I don't get time for dev (avg 20 min a day if I get)

As you can see on Samperia ROM thread is based on XperiaPirates 1.0 with some of customization, but Samperia is have a bug, blank screen on booting. Or you can use those ROM and see what's more great.

It will be based on sVanilla which uses a stock kernel, I am not a kernel developer (not yet ). If you know any stock kernel with swap support and frequency scaling, I will be happy to include.

The stock kernel already has swap support but i have never seen a kernel for galaxy star having custom frequency scaling

how can i change the CPU/GPU mode to perfomance? should i root my phone for this? Sorry if this is a newbie question.. i already saw in some threads here ( benchmark thread ) that some user got better results by changing these to perfomance. also its better for gaming on my opx.

As far as i know, yes.
You need root to use Kernel Apps, like Kernel Aduitor.

yes, root it and install kernel auditor to change settings. Or install custom kernel(blu_spark is available and its good) and tweak accordingly and carefully.
But be cautious, changing to something you don't know may render your phone to be useless/boot loop or brick. Do only the changes you know.
