Questions
I want to try this app, but to make sure this is the app I need.
I wanted to ask a few questions.
1. What kind of tweaks are part of 3G/4G
2. From description of this app, does some of the tools change buildprop file settings?
3. Does this app play nice with ROMS running 4.1.2/I'm currently using Jelly Beans Build 19?

I find it very disturbing that the dev doesn't respond to anything people say and if he/she does it is very short and unhelpful.
Edit:
Another thing that bothers me is this app is almost exactly, there are only a few *minor* differences, the same as PimpMyRom. Its almost like the dev copied all of someone else's work and is charging for it.

1. 3g/4g network more speed up tweaks.(The range of questions is too large.)
2. build.prop file to change the value of the LCD-Density only. The others settings are not changed build.prop.
3. works on all Android version.
Also, this app's development has been ongoing for two years.

This post is still working, but has not and will not be updated as I and the other contributors no longer have this device. I welcome questions as always, but without the device in my hand, I may not have your answer.
There are people still actively trying to update the software for this device as of 1/15, and if anyone wishes to take over/update this thread PM me.
It was a great ride with the amaze, and I still feel like the camera puts much newer devices to shame to date.

Any new contributors added please post in the thread, your first post will be your change log, which I can use to keep change log updated.
Please let's try to stay consistent in formatting - no need to paste the actual XDA or external link, right click highlighted text and add link that way.
Please don't edit the table of contents box in the very beginning of the doc, it will break the links in the OP of this thread.
Let's make sure we only use red text for warnings and the important information that NEEDS to be read.
Clicking insert at the top gives us the ability to add in pictures, links, drawing, etc.. I am not opposed as long as it doesn't take up too much space and isn't confusing.
You CAN create separate docs if you think that posting here would be too difficult - just make sure when you are done with your new doc you click "sharing" in the top right, make it accessible to anyone with a link, but NOT with editing rights! Let's not use other docs unless it is going to be a VERY robust document with images and embedded youtube videos, etc.
You will see at the very end of the doc is an "expanded" version. I put a bookmark in front of each line(insert>bookmark), and then I highlight the text, insert>link and then click the bookmarks tab - choose the text that matches what you are bookmarking.. boom, done.
Easy sharing BBCode links for the Bible.doc and for this thread.

And yes, a sticky would be nice - especially since we will have plenty to keep this updated.

And I'm hoping if the noobies(lol, love the term btw) think there is something we can clarify(that actually would help), we can make the bible even better..
Any other sections you or anyone else can think of? I'm wondering about ways to link to other useful threads - even threads that are closed like the "issues with ICS thread" I had may be useful.. maybe a troubleshooting section perhaps? A misc resources section?
I think forum members will like that they can help with suggestions and hopefully see a useful and well organized final product..

True, but if we find the answer to their issue, and it is common ENOUGH to be included, we can link directly to the post that fixes it, whether in this thread, or somewhere else.. no, we can't fix EVERY problem, but there are some standard ones that may be useful.. for example, what remix had to do to flash the RUU when his phone wouldn't accept a recovery - we could provide a few different links for anything useful like that for people having issues with the leak..
At the very least that was why I made it a Troubleshooting/Miscellaneous section, perhaps my closed thread on ICS issues may help someone out, even tho it is closed we can link to it.. or any other thread that has been archived but may be useful?
I'm kinda just thinking out loud here, trying to see what bases we can cover..

Sure, there are a few that are like that, but I've dealt with many I like that are pretty sharp, things really are just hard to find at this point - or at least till this point hopefully.
If we give a lazy noob this thread we've already put a ton of time into and he wants more, then I can tell him to get *(#$ with a good conscience. But this should be great for people who aren't noobs, but might be overwhelmed - I remember I was in the beginning, trying to figure out s-off and this and that.. and I was never a noob!(lies.)
What is S-Off?
Well allow me to explain:
In their devices, HTC have installed a sort of security check whose level is determined by S-OFF/S-ON. Essentially, this security level is a flag stored on the device’s radio that checks signature images for any firmware before it is allowed to be written to system memory. This hinders using any custom ROMs, splash images, recovery etc., and also restricts access to the NAND flash memory. However, when security level is set to S-OFF, the signature check is bypassed, allowing a user to upload custom firmware images, unsigned boot, recovery, splash and HBOOT images, as well as official firmware that has been modified, this enabling maximum customization of your HTC Android device.
Furthermore, S-OFF also reduces restrictions on accessing the NAND flash memory on the device, allowing all partitions (including /system) to be mounted in write mode while the operating system is booted.
In simpler terms: s stands for security on and off being it's current status, on restricting your ability to write to certain partitions of the system, example: hboot. Also it usually restricts access to flash kernels while s-on but recoveries such as 4EXT recovery have the ability to bypass this while s-on, hence giving you the ability to flash full custom roms without the need of s-off.
S-Off on the other hand gives you practically full access to system partitions, enabling you to flash radios, hboots, just about everything. It also gives you the option to sim unlock your amaze for free (see general forum), gives you options as well to unbrick your device should you have a slip up while trying to flash a rom/mods to your device(search for the unbricking project in the dev forum).
How to obtain s-off? See JuopunutBear's s-off method in the dev section, super-cid is also recommended if you're a rom flasher who likes to test roms that may not be for your specific device, difference being T-Mobile, Telus and Wind versions of the Amaze 4G.

When linking... There shouldn't be a reason why the links have to be listed (i.e. when giving rom links). If you see the first couple of GB roms, u will see I made hyperlinks, but whoever finished it did it differently. We should try to keep this organized and in similar formats from user to user, to make it clean and easier to read. Imho.

I know, I finished fixing the format of the ics roms that were listed.. some of it was a rush job, but at least most of the info is there until we perfect the format.

We will likely need direction from this point on - someone asked about mobilicity carrier(VIA COMMENT in DOC) and someone else supplied the link, I updated thread-- this is a good way to keep it going.
Productive comments are welcome, as it says in the first post- highlight what you want, click insert then comment to leave us something helpful.. otherwise I hope it is helping people out(I don't see glacierguy, nightmare's, or my thanks button getting super mashed..?)
Anyways, it will never be complete, but we will need some direction to move forward and add more!
Tip for better battery
Current Widget
This is a free app available on the play store, there may be other apps that do the same thing.
See what is causing the most drain while you are actually USING the phone(as opposed to when screen is off- hint, use betterbatterystats for that)..
Steps to see which apps are killing your battery- do this when you get higher than average drain(delete previous log file called currentwidget.log in root of SD)
Put the widget on one of your homescreens, it will go to options screen..
An update interval of 60 seconds should be acceptable
Check(enable) the log file
Go into log options>check(enable) log applications
Use your phone as normal for a few days.. or when you've noticed worse drain.
Go back into the program and click log actions>analyze log,>top processes-- this shows you which app processes are using how much current - for example com.android.chrome(the google chrome app) was using 513MaH(milliampere-hour) - if you have the stock 1730mah battery that means that app alone could kill your battery in a little over 3 hours..
Once you have a list of which apps are causing the most drain turn off logging- that app itself will cause SOME drain, but it is worth using just to find out what is killing your phone!
This has been added to the BATTERY TRICKS section of the original google doc!

Enabling hands free profile

hi guys,
i just wanted to ask have anyone tried receiving calls from another phone in your gp5? i was just wondering i have a hp touchpad with webos and when its paired with my old phone it can receive the calls.
I was thinkin maybe if i can do that with my gp5 i can tuck away my old phone and receive calls with my gp5 when paired using bluetooth.
please let me know if anybody have any idea how get this done i know it requires certain service to enable this feature with bluetooth
The 4.0 and 5.0 do NOT support the bluetooth profile (HFP) Needed to be able to answer the calls of a paired bluetooth phone, the 3.6 does and I think the 4.2 might I just can't remember right now.
You could check out the custom ROM's for the 5.0 one of them may have added that functionality, but stock they will not.
4.2 does works like a charm. Just like my tp
Sent from my YP-GI1 using XDA
Well, it is unreal to answer a call? if you have not a dial, isn't it? So, galaxy player 4 and 5 HAVE NOT a dial (a phone app), maybe, in some custom ROMs... And they also have not (HFP) and you could not use them as hands-free...

No, they have a dailer, they lack support of the needed bluetooth profiles, It was one of those weird things samsung did.

Unlikely to see it in any of the CM9 based ICS releases as bluetooth doesn't even work in most of them.

thinking it might work with sgp 5.0 i tried opening my build.prop and cant find any lines like above

I'm very much interested in this feature and i'm sure there are people out there who care about it as well. I really would love to be able to use GP5 with my 10' tablet to answer and make calls though it.

I got an idea based on the previous posts the 3.6 player has this feature I was wondering if the 3.6 has the identical chipset as ours provided that the its coming from the same rom version we can dump some of their core files that is controlling the bt chipset and port it to our device

i'm planning to post a request in the development forum, asking the developers to incorporate this feature into one of the rooms
I already asked the 4.0 devs. What we need is a 3.6 dump, so we can get what files we need.

a dump? arent official roms available for download? why can't the necessary code be taken from a rom?
both 4.2 and 3.6 have this feature enabled, so it can be imported from any of these devices. I think it should be trivial - because the devices use the same components, adopting features from one into another should be almost as easy as cutting and pasting the code or a library or whatever they have in android.
Hi guys, since my 3.6 isn't rooted I'm not sure I can dump every file, but I can extract the ones which I have read access. You can also download all the source here

Wow, thanks for the link, mate. I will forward you offer to the devs. Btw i've started a new thread dedicated to this in the development section -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1763496

[MODS] Multi Core Governor's/Frequencies (QCBeta1) + V6 Supercharger (U9RC11T4)

ALL ROMS AND DEVICES SUPPORTEDfor both of these mods listed below
single / dual and quad core
V6 super Charger in post 2
MULTI-SINGLE-ALL-CORE GOVERNORS AND FREQUENCIES
this is a patch which allows you to edit the governor of each core independently, as well as setting each its own min / max frequencies, IT'S NOT MY WORK AND ALL THANKS GOES TO Smokin1337
Firstly dl the zip, then flash via your chosen recovery, I flashed on fresh installs so I recommend you wipe your cache/dalvik cache to be on the safe-r side of life , if flashing over a *settled* rom
You will then need to run the command "su" in terminal emulator , followed by "cpu"
Then all settings are self explanatory inside the terminal emulator,
Here's the op
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1584508
Here's the link to terminal emulator in the play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jackpal.androidterm&hl=enO
This mod , may be cancelled out by other mods and/or settings saved from them, I would recommend clearing data from system tuner, set CPU, CPU tuner etc, and reinstalling them without making changes to CPU , also disable forced dual core if you have a 3rd party app enabling it. Er........ I think that's it
.....nope, if you restore from apps such as titanium back up, any data containing CPU configs you restored may need to be removed too, if you want to make sure you are getting the settings set in terminal emulator and not those launched via init.d or on boot completion

its like having a turbo on your device, lots of work has been put into this dont forget to go thank Zeppelinrox on The OP below
it has worked for me on his previous releases and accross many roms,
you may need a busybox update, to prevent a possible cause of a boot loop, but it does auto detect version,
and it is easy enough to upgrade busybox version,
with this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.busybox.installer&hl=en free from the market/play store,
you will also need an app like script manager https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=os.tools.scriptmanager&feature=search_result free from the market, and dont forget to turn the little su android button green to run as root when running the script
heres the OP, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276 ,

Ok...
Tell me if I misunderstood, but what I see is basically a clever mod that sets different settings for multi core CPUs and also the Supercharger script by zeppelinrox.
Now, how are these relevant to X8? It has only a single core CPU, so the mod is kinda pointless for the X8 since an app such as SetCPU can handle this function. Also, the Supercharger script is not new or unknown to us X8 users, in fact I believe there are 3 threads on that topic.
So how is this Android Development? I don't see anything here being developed by the OP. I only see the publicising of some nice tweaks, one of which is useless to the X8 and the other is already quite well-known. This should belong in the General section, and even then it wouldn't serve much purpose. Though I understand the sharing of certain useful mods here, I don't see its relevance.

Ok. The multi governor mod is, afaik, only useful for phones with multiple cores as then it can be used to change how each core operates, potentially increasing performance and maybe reducing battery life. A single core phone like the X8 won't benefit from it since it doesn't have multiple cores to change individually. You claiming that it works might be due to a placebo effect as it does nothing for an X8. Seriously, think logically on how a multicore-targeted individual core governor will help the X8. Not every tweak works for every phone and not every tweak is one that improves performance.
As for supercharger, I agree that it is effective. However, many X8 users already know about it hence publicising it again in a new thread is pointless. Though we appreciate that you want to share your findings with the community, this is not the right way or place to disseminate the information. Doing so in a related existing thread would be better and also since this thread contains no development, it should not be posted in the development section.
Ok everyone stop posting. Its upto mods to decide.
However,no matter how much you deny (like, this community is full of haters), SpyderX is right. This thread is just for increasing thanks meter or whatever.
One thing have to clearly understood : Dev section belongs to people who know about android. Its not for sharing stuff someone else creates. The Original Developer has done developing AND certainly its not you.Just saying all credits to him/her isnt enough. Its clear that OP doesnt know what he himself posted. He has little knowledge of scripts.
I dont want to get into verbal argument here.

Both these were developed from scratch, no not by me, I did state that, and yes, it is effective for single core devices, and yes i know system tuner, setcpu and CPU tuner etc, all do the same job, but, why waste app space, when a script can do the same job, but can be controlled via terminal emulator, if you don't like it, don't use it, wanna hate, fine,

It simply allows full control / choice of governor, min and max frequency instantly, without the need of a reboot or init.d script, as for the supercharger script, its pretty self explanatory, it makes small system changes, manually giving you a choice of options , try it, you won't be dissapointed
I think all of moderator must give him a chance to share it,may be it is usefull mod for all of shakira users....may be in the other section too !
Ok here's the thing. Arjen (one of our Mods) has clearly stated in his sticky that Android Development section and Original Development section are for SONY ERICSSON XPERIA X8 SPECIFIC ANDROID DEVELOPMENT. Anything other than such should be in the General or Themes and Apps section. What SpyderX and a few others tried to do is advice you politely (take note that they didnt curse you or anything) and all you've done is remained hard hearted and ignored them. All i can say is im not like them.
1. Opening a thread about someone else's work is not X8 Android Development material, especially when it was developed in another phone's forum.
2. Making threads in another phone's forum just because a family member or friend has the said phone is, how do i put it...unwise. Especially when he/she doesn't bother to read our stickies or double check on existing MODS.
3. Saying "Fine, I'll just go back to my old forums where im appreciated" doesnt help your case. It just shows you weren't sincere by trying to help people with this MOD and that you're a thanks whore.
Im sorry its so long but I've had enough idiocy flooding our forums.
P.S. : I typed this whole thing via X8. Show some respect by quoting it if you have a good comeback.

[FIX][i9300][08/11/2013]Wake up lag on Samsung JB 4.3 MJ9 Firmware

Hello,
I´ve done some testing to figure out what causes the "wake up lag" on the latest Samsung JB 4.3 Firmware. This Firmware is unfinished as many of you may have noticed.
There are a few missing features or semi broken.
Ok, let´s start with some notices, on some devices you can notice a wake up lag when trying to wake your phone up. It may take several seconds for the screen to appear and to react.
There are a few possibilities to at least greatly reduce the wakeup time:
You´ll need to have a rooted Firmware installed and Trickster Mod ( any similar app will also work ).
These are the methods I´ve tried and figured out:
1) Some people suggest to change the used CPU governor from PegasusQ to ondemand.
While this actually helps to reduce the lag, it is a very bad idea. Ondemand is a generic governor in the linux kernel and does not support CPU Hotplugging. This will result in either a way to big battery drain since the cores will tend to run at full speed most the time, even in idle situations or severe lags.
2) Samsung introduced in the JB 4.2.1 , 4.2.2 and now 4.3 Firmware the usage of zRAM to his kernel.
While zRAM can actually help to improve multitasking, it also needs some extra cpu power which can also cause a higher battery drain. ( which would be very low and not noticeable at all if implemented the right way )
You can disable zRAM with Trickster Mod or any other, similar app. I´ve noticed that by doing this, the wakeup lag was greatly reduced and nearly gone. It takes about 1-2 seconds for the screen to turn on again.
To make sure you´ve disabled zRAM, use a terminal emulator and type "free".
3) Use an alternative kernel: Samsung has released the required kernel sources for JB 4.3 very fast this time.
Yank555, a well known and skilled developer has already built the first custom kernel for JB 4.3. By installing this kernel and using a different cpu governor than PegasusQ ( eg. zzmoove ), you will also notice a greatly reduced wakeup lag and also a better battery consumption.
Get this kernel directly from Yank555 here, you´ll have to create a forum account first:
http://yank555-lu.net/viewtopic.php?p=3#p3
Notice: If this kernel breaks your root, you´ll have to install this package again:
http://download.chainfire.eu/345/
Hopefully you´ll manage to reduce the wakeup lag by trying my methods
Feel free to leave your comments and tell me what worked out best for you.
Creating a separate forum and not releasing sources as gpl for one kernel is such a lame ass move.
Yes, i feel great improvement with Yank's kernel about wake up lag.
Thx for the info
Hi Victorator,
Please don't judge about this topic when you don't know the history and why yank made this decision. If you followed other kernel threads you had seen that yank is a role model when it is about helping and sharing.
Best regards,
Matt

Yank? He shares more than anybody here. Everyone uses his zzmoove setup. Plus, he used to have a thread here before AndreiLux kept on harassing him. That was the last straw for him.
It's his decision to not post here. It kinda sucks but we should respect it at least.
I also noticed if you are using WiFi - change advanced settings - set from DHCP to Static.
There was still a small screen on lag (about 1 second) but significantly less then with DHCP.

Accidentally press thanks button on the post above. Annoying xda app.
Big plus 1 for your comments. Wonder if OP got permission from yank to post his kernel here. Whatever the reasons and whatever arguments involved, we should respect his decision which clearly stated in his forum. Furthermore, this thread doesn't belong here imho, no development thus should be in general.

JP doesn´t mind if I post a link to his forum, for the guys who want to use his kernel. However, he doesn´t accept hot links directly to his webspace or alternative links to other webspace..
I respect his work and have mentioned his kernel in a way which is acceptable to all of us. Just in case JP doesn´t want his work to be mentioned, I´m going to remove the link to his forum.

Could someone test something ???
I disable the LockScreen and know when i push the power button my screen opens immediately.
I use this LockScreen https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lockscreen.galaxy
The result is when i push the power button my screen opens immediately
So maybe the problem with lag is the LockScreen ???

There doesn't seem to be lags with dialer or gallery. I use the S4 gallery as a replacement to the default 4.3 gallery app that came with the update..
both of them seem to work perfectly fine..

And that's what is perfectly managed with Sir yank's kernel.
Use of zram for multitasking, etc might be the solutions. But that kernel solves the problems..

Use opera mini or another browser that gives you an ip number instead of your own, I had the same issue.
AFAIK, OnDemand does Hotplug, it does on the S4.
Hi. Which goverors are available if I use Trickster Mod (or similar) with the stock 4.3 kernel? As you write that ondemand is not good, is there any govenor available which solves the wakeup delay and is recommended?
I´m just searching for a slim solution to eliminate that wakeup delay, I don´t want to flash a custom kernel.
Thanks fpr help

Games are really smooth and fast on MIUI rom with those mods!

Hello guys,
i want to share my experience about games on MIUI Rom.. Maybe you know, Some of games are not smooth on Miui with this Phone Specs. i tried some Magisk mode and now i have a perfect phone for the games.
After root my phone which magisk modes i used;
-NFS-INJECTOR 7.0 by K1ks (GAME MODE !)
-GPU Turbo Boost 3.0 by EmperorEye1993
-Ram Management fixez by crok
-Improve Game Xperience by mifansLA
i tested on those games.. CT Dream Team , MCOC, Perfect Mobile, Asphalt 9, Mobile Legend, Black Desert Online (KR).
For the installation..
You need to root your phone with Magisk and Add those modes on Magisk or TWRP at the Attached.
All the best. Good luck
How has this affected battery life IMO?
Great post but NFS is apparently a copycat and things which three other Devs hate and they work separately but one is working with another and one of them makes sure their mod are compatible with the other two.
I have probably confused you so let me list the names
FDE: app will be released very soon to allow user to control some things. Compatible with the following two. Maybe not all three at the same time lol.
LKT: has an app manager which the Dev of the mod below helped make.
Lspeed: first one to have an actual app, LKT had terminal commands to control some things (not hating on that just pointing out).
However if you have tried them and done your testing or simply do not want to change your setup then that's fine.
Whatever works:victory:
i've tested RAM_management_fixes_by_crok-v0.0.4.zip and it freezes the phone sometimes.
Sarcasm-Sunday-Pro-Tip:
If you're using the famous "GPU Turbo Boost 3.0 by EmperorEye1993" Magisk Module (and therefore didn't check its "source-code") - I strongly suggest also adding:
debug.fairydust=true
ro.vendor.outdated.cmds=enable
sys.activate.hidden.extra.gpu=1
to your system.prop - or any other file.
PS: don't

No - sorry for replying so late - this was supposed to be a joke.
I came across this module more than a year ago, immediately had doubts after reading its description ("...aims to increase Snapdragon powered devices by up to 75% but at the same time reduces power consumption by up to 25% seamlessly."), read through a lengthy thread about it here on XDA (mainly featuring people with little experience reporting back, that they "think" it works - and others reporting, that it's definitely not working and/or breaking things - and also some experienced devs chipping in to explain why... )
My conclusion (after also googling some of the tweaks, found in the source code): it was a collection of either non-functional, outdated or (very) device-specific tweaks - basically, hocus-pocus.
How to remove gpu turbo boost cause its not showing in magisk modules list
Where should i flash Improve Game Xpirience in Magisk or Custom Recov ? Cause i flash it in Magisk and take reboot.. but he's not showing in the magisk module, is it fine ?.. please help..
