Is there any app for win phone 8 like the android genie widget? - Windows Phone 8 Apps and Games

Monday 7 january im getting the htc 8x.
I have the htc desire s, but it become slow since i installed ICS.
The app that i will most miss is genie widget. Its a very very simple news pointer, but very good because it only shows the headers of my country or my language news sources. When touching the header it opens the news page.
But the best part is that i can add tabs with keywords, and then again it displays the headers of my country or my language news sources filtered by those keywords.
I love to use it on boring meetings or during waiting times.
Anyone knows any app for wf8 like this?

Nothing that has an actual widget to it since there are no actual widgets on WP8. However there are a lot of news readers you can get that are great. Just search the store when you get the phone.

Twitter app with timeline sync

I'm wondering if any decent Twitter apps are available that can sync timeline position across multiple Android devices, and preferably to a web portal or a Windows app. Any thoughts?
Sent from my Nook Color!
I've been looking into something like this to sync my evo and tab also. The search continues.....
I'm searching the same thing.
Someone knows someone???
Falcon pro seems to do this the best. What your looking for is an app that supports free-market. I'm also searching myself, there's really no perfect app. I'm switching between my s3 and nexus 7. Why Twitter had not implemented sync by now is beyond me.

Necropost alert! I originally wrote this in 2011. I currently use Plume which syncs via Tweet Marker but it's not really a complete solution as there aren't really any good Tweet Marker apps for Windows or desktop browsers that haven't halted development.

ah... it displays customerized news feed including updates from one's Facebook twitter etc in a very user-friendly 'magzine' way.
Pulse is sorta like flipboard

Check out Feedly too.

I would highly recommend pulse. I use that app more than anything else and on the tablet the split screen is really nice.

Try the following:
Feedly
Newsr
News360 (still in Beta but quickly getting better)
Pulse
My favorites are Feedly and Newsr currently. Several more are in beta stages.

thanks for these suggestions. i tried news 360. its user interface is nice .... and reminds me of flipboard somehow. before any updates from above apps mentioned , ifeel news 360 acts more reasonable for 10.1.

I love pulse. A preinstalled app that doesn't suck is great.
Pulse is okay, I hope flipboard comes to android.
It would be nice but I recently took a survey with News360 and they're currently working on Twitter/Facebook integration. It could possibly help me forget about Flipboard.
Man...if only I could code, I would have started working on an app just like Flipboard called Scrapbook. LoL. I wouldn't be surprised to see Flipboard appear on Android sometime after Christmas. I still wonder if Apple doesn't pay some of these developers not to work on both.
It seems silly as anybody who can program, can just take your idea, change it a bit and put in on another marketplace.
with that being said , flipboard to me ,also is far more better in providing iformation than any apps i tried on android os.
just by searching word 'cancer' , in these apps vs flipboard , one can clearly see the difference ....
hope flipboard coming to android soon ...

the same, hope it will be available for android soon.
Another thing is that they need to make the content more customizable and give more consideration to the individual preference.

That is true.
Apart from the tremendous claim for their attractive layout, this is a real problem.
There is not enough personal customization of content, and most often, the status updates chronologically.
Ive never had the chance to play with it but having seen reviews, I would really like to use planetary on android.
I would pay 4.99 on the market for that
What do you mean there is no Flipboard-like app? Theres Google Currents which is superior
I was currently searching for planetary. Only thing i found , was this thread.
Can someone port it for android? Or am i asking something incredible?
I have flipboard installed on my tab. In the play store says isn't compatible but you can instal it if you download the apk from other source. Once installed the app says in the first time open that is not made for this screen size but works perfectly!

News Widget

When you click the market there is the staff picks for apps. News Republic is one of them. It is a horrible reader. Pulse and others are much better. But what is great is the apps 3 Widgets that you can customize for news sources. Android news, tablets, entertainment, politics and so on. Very nice scrolling on the Widgets as well. Here is a pick of my sports screen with 4 of the Widgets on the sides.

Best Weather app for TF300T?

What's the best weather app out there that works well on the TF300T? And no, I don't mean a widget - I have lots of them - I mean a weather app that has forecasts, alerts, radar maps, etc.
Specifically, I'd like to have something that works as a tablet app, and not just a compatibility mode or rehash of a phone app.
Thanks!

I use weatherbug elite. There is a wb tablet version, but it stinks, and no recent updates. I won't say the best but it does well from what I use it for.

I love the weather portion of the HD Widget, but it doesn't have notifications, and is missing the hour-to-hour forecast (available through a link to a web page). It supports multiple weather sources, though, so it's flexible.

How bout the weather channel app, as far as i can tell it has everything you need

G-now is great for quick little things, but anything past temperature and condition it just doesn't get the job done.
i actually prefer BeWeather Pro. (i think free version get you all this as well, pro version just gives more widget options)
it has some beautiful animations, gives hour by hour, rainfall by hour, weekly forcast, about 5 different radar types, notifications ect. its a great app, one i had been waiting for for a while.
I use fancy widgets. It has an option to add the current temp on the notification bar works well on my tablet and phone ( you can re-size the widgets easily ) and has downloadable themes. I use the paid version so there are few of additional options with it.

Google Currents or Flip board?

I second feedly, after learning of Google Reader's demise i've used nothing but this and it's fantastic.
I prefer Pulse myself.
You can see more headlines at once and then decide which stories you want to actually read.
I find having to flip through every story with Flipboard and Currents annoying.
But I can see how they could be appealing as they are more like flipping trough a paper magazine.
I like Google Currents if I want to read from a specific source. Swipe left right to switch between new sources and up down to scrollbetween articles. So convenient! I llike flip board for the compilation of articles or news from various sources at once.
I'm used to flipboard.
So im gonna stay with flipboard
+1 for Feedly. Not perfect but good enough. I can't stand flipboard and especially currents. Too much gloss. At least with Feedly, I can make it look more like Reader.

Pulse for blogs and news, flipboard for pictures . Addicted to both
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Pulse is too condensed making it hard to read full titles, Currents I feel like is not as intuitive and simple as Flipboard. I mainly use Flipboard on my note 2 and ipad.
I'm a fan of currents, personally.
