No It won't, after look at what base-bands it is capable of using it can use GSM 900 mhz but not wcdma 900 mhz. Even though they are on the same frequency they after different radio technologies.

I know the difference between wcdma and gsm. My problem is that many Sellers writes that p770 support wcdma 900 mhz. So if any of you have this phone and can confirm that?

someone who has the phone can confirm??
I asked "etotalk" and this is their response:
answer:
Hi, regarding Lenovo P770 smartphone.
In the page of "etotalk" in the features it says "WCDMA 900/2100MHz" but the official website of "lenovo" puts WCDMA 2100Mhz. What is the correct figure?
responce:
Yes, lenovo shows is 2100mhz, but based on our customers' feedback, it should support 900 as well
Maybe my English is not clear because I use a translator but my response does not seem accurate

Hello,
I have the p770 for one month. I am living in Bulgaria and I am using Vivacom GSM operator. Its 3G network is operating at 900 MHz. The phone is working fine with 3G enabled. In settings -> about phone it is said that the mobile network type is HSPA. I hope this helps.

Bkulov seems to be correct, i am living in Africa & using a cellular operator which runs on the 900mhz band. I get 3g and Hspa with the Lenovo p770. I ran a test with the speedtest.net app & i got 2046 kbps DL & 1457 kbps UL. I thought there could be a possiblity of the phone running on EDGE/2G but i dont think so myself because obviously the phone doesnt state it & they dont state EDGE data for the SIM 1 on the p770.
My over all view about this is that if etotalk.com mentioned that their customers did confirm 900mhz 3G band, then i do not see why it wouldnt be. If anybody with backround knowledge could give us some feedback it will be much appreciated ! Peace

UMTS-900 on Lenovo IdeaPhone P770
Hello!
I leave in Russian Federation in Moscow region, but 100km souther Moscow. In our region 3G connectivity only available in WCDMA-GSM-900, but this option is not available in EngeneerMode in BandMode section, only WCDMA-INT-2000.
Why UMTS-900 don't work on this phone if other smartphones on MTK6577 platform supports this mode? Is there any way to enable this mode or it has hardware locked chip?

Galaxy S2 HD LTE (SHV-e120s)

Hi guys
I recently got one of these shipped over to Australia. Now I've encountered a few network issues I'd like help to resolve.
1. I think the only HSDPA/UMTS bands available are only 900/2100MHz. That means I can't get access to Telstra's Next G Network as it runs on 850MHz. Unfortunately I can't get access to the service mode at all and I've also downloaded the network app from the android market to see if I can change the band that way, but that doesn't help either - the app just crashes. I guess there's not much I can do there.
2. According to all the sites I've seen about the specs for the phone - LTE bands supported are 800/1800/2600MHz. But I can't seem to get on Telstra's LTE in sydney. The phone assumes that even with a Telstra sim, I'm on roaming with SK Telecom and it states that 4G roaming is now available. The aforementioned network app is set to "GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto" - yet no LTE!
Perhaps I could flash to another ROM? but I'm not sure which would be applicable? The LG Nitro HD has the closest specs in my opinion. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. usually, bands are hardware limited. Meaning if you don't receive a particular band, you probably won't ever be able to.
2. what bands does Telstra's LTE operate on? #1 applies here too. If the LTE antenna in the phone doesn't receive the frequency your operator is transmitting on, there's not much you can do.
And in your "Perhaps", why would you even consider flashing a ROM for a completely different phone to yours???? (unless you WANTED to end up with a paperweight)
EDIT: Look at this thread. Specifically what's in post 2, which reads "So it doesn't matter where you buy the phone from, it will work on Telstra unless you go buy the korean version or something." Just googling your model number (SHV-E120S), it looks like that IS a Korean version of the phone. The fact that you say it says something about roaming for SK Telecom (a South Korean carrier) seems to support that.
EDIT 2: a quick google for the SHV-E120S turns up this page, which says the phone is for networks voice GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, data (HSPA+) UMTS900, UMTS2100, and LTE frequencies LTE 800, LTE 1800, LTE 2600.
According to Telstra's wikipedia page, HSPA on Telstra is UMTS850 and UMTS2100, and LTE is LTE1800. So you won't get full support on all of Telstra's bands with that model of phone.
It looks like you'll prob be stuck with 3G nextwork if you use this phone in AUS.
Remember: DO NOT try to flash ROMs that is not for your phone. I've tried this one time and ended up hard-bricking my phone. NEVER DO THIS!

Ive read a number of XDA sites where people flash and install new modems with different bands. Woudl it be possible to install a 850MHz modem into the above phone?

Um, no. No flash will ever address a hardware limitation.

[Q] Can´t enable LTE no matter what.

Hello,
I can not get LTE working with my black Lumia 920.
The phone is supposedly RM-821 global version with pentaband LTE support disabled in firmware. Bought in Vietnam from official retailer and I am using it here in Finland where I live (LTE frequencies 1800 and 2600 are used by my operator). There is no 4G option in settings->mobile network->highest connection speed. I can go to field test menu (##3282+call) -> settings and select 4G only there but as soon as I leave that menu the setting reverts back to whatever it was set before. Also no LTE network is found during the time I stay in the menu.
This issue is driving me nuts.
Here is what I have tried so far with no success resolving the issue:
- Flashing in 8-10 different firmwares/softwares (several different region rm-821 models including finnish) with Nokia care suite.
- Called my operator several times and requested and got a new sim card to rule out the possibility that the problem lies there.
- Called nokia customer care twice and they keep telling me that the phone - for being the global variant - has LTE support on hardware level but it is just disabled in software.
- Checked the APN settings. If I select the access point with access point name for 4G network with my operator I don´t get connected at all. It says 3G in the topbar but network simply doesn´t work.
- Done this all in area where there should be 99,9% certainty for LTE-network availability.
So if anyone can point out something that I have missed or could still try please do. Would be highly appreciated!
You say it has octaband support. Have you confirmed what frequencies it operates at? It is possible that even being octaband versus pentaband that your frequency is not in that phones range. Is there any documentation that says what bands your model supports?

Now that is out of the way, are you sure that your provider has LTE coverage in your exact area? Not just over all but at your exact location? Also is the signal you get at your location normally strong. If it is not strong enough the phone will drop to a lower band to conserve bandwidth.
you may find that nokia has not enabled it yet, they my do so at a later date by firmware .. the CVBG also do not have 4g working out of the box
I am having the same problem.. I bought a 920 when on holiday in Thailand.. now back home and it will not show 4G.. only 3G... whereas my 820 gets 4G fine...
Its an rm-821... and like the original poster i tried flashing a known 4G firmware onto the phone..
Do they actually manufacture 920s that are not 4G ?? I just assumed they were all 4G.... I guess i was wrong..
Have you try this app and manually set for the LTE? just a suggestion

Flash your RM-821 with the Finnish firmware 059Q917 (1308.1) . It will activate the LTE as it did mine.

That's pretty common, most Chinese phones aren't compatible with 3G/4G networks even though they say they are. This is because they run from a frequency that is not compatible with the U.S. I had the same issue, I found out later on down the road that its limited to 2G/EDGE. I am in the process of returning the phone I have now. Just goes to show you you really need to check into Chinese phones because allot are unfortunately like this. Hope that helps.

[Q] Forcing/Enable WCDMA 900 on THL W8S

Hi all, I have a huge problem. I've bought a THL W8S cell phone. The problem is, this cell doesn't support WCDMA 900 band. Only 850 and 2100. The phone operator (Wind) in my zone only support WCDMA900, so if I switch it in 3G the phone lost signal. If I keep it in 2G, it works fine but data navigation is slow.
I need to know if there's any way to force THL W8S to receive WCDMA900, or I will be forced to resend cell to China.

Does anyone own the Mediapad X1 4G? Would love some feedback on the device as well as

I've been going on YouTube to get some reviews but its mostly a quick hands on. Does anyone own the device and have any feedback on it? Any issues? I was thinking about getting the 4G version but I can't find anything on it!
I've noticed the phone has been updated to a new version of android recently... Can you get root with the update?
There's a 4G version of this as well, does that connect to the 4G bands of AT&T or does it just get HSPA+?
I've been trying to look for the Chinese forums for this device to get reviews or user feedback in general but I can't find anything!
Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

The 503L works in Malaysia where the LTE bands are 1800MHz and 2600MHz FDD. Nigeria probably uses a band unsupported by the device.

There was one other guy I saw in the X1 related threads in this forum here, who said that the H+ bands on AT&T work fine.
This is truly a fantastic device and has all the right boxes ticked. You can even use it as a powerbank in an emergency.

Fantastic device. The best tablet i have ever had. Durable and compact. Software very smooth.
I'm in the US and am on AT&T. The LTE bands don't work in the US so you would probably want to get the 3G version (Unless you travel overseas and might want 4G)
If a huge screen and massive battery are your thing then get this phone. If not, your better served with the Sony Xperia Z Ultra.
Other than Screen Size and Battery, the Mediapad X1 falls short in alot of areas.
Pros
Screen (Why else would you get this phone?)
Battery (I get 3 days on a charge)
Don't need a tablet
Cons
Poor performance (Compared to the current snapdragon equipped phones)
Quirky Wifi Performance/Occasion dropouts (In the US)
Old OS (KitKat is out, but fairly buggy right now)
No custom recovery or roms (This would probably fix alot of the performance issues)
High memory usage (Even after rooting and removing all the Huawei stuff)
Just a little laggy in general (Annoying pause after unlocking the screen)
Build quality is a little lacking (buttons feel cheap and are easy to accidentally press or hold)

I suppose "Poor performance" is relative based on the Antutu score, since I'm happy with the device overall.
I did some exploring with ROM dumping tools, and I think I managed to successfully extract the /system partition. Still exploring though, hope to pick up some ROM modding skills.

Do you get at least HSPA on the device? I know its underpowered because the Ultra has a 2.2ghz vs this one has a 1.6. I was really waiting for the Ultra 2 that would have a flash but I need something now. I didn't think I would need flash that much but I use it all the time as a light.
Did you upgrade to the latest version? Did that improve the performance? How well does it connect to the network?
I don't know about the wifi, I have a Samsung Note now and I get wifi authentication errors all the time!

Yes HSPA+ works just fine at around 5mbs. That's certainly fast enough for cellular data.
I did upgrade to the leaked Kitkat build, it had some nice speed improvements however the DPI was set to 400 which was yuck, and the wifi performance was total crap. I had to go back to 4.2 unfortunately. It wasn't good enough for a daily driver, hopefully those issues get fixed for a proper update...
The wifi issues on 4.2 are not that troublesome, with the leaked 4.4 rom they were very bad.

Thank you for this. As much as I want the nice screen, I need a device that works with wifi and not on that old of an android. I will follow the forums to see if there's any improvement. Thank you for the info

According to some other posts I read, Huawei may not be able to legally state FDD support as they are not licensed for that spectrum in China. However there are reports that the modem supports all frequencies.
Can I know what is the model number of the 32gb version?

The 703L supports FDD 1800 and 2600MHz, and probably some other FDD bands as well, as it has been reported working in France, Germany, Malaysia and Singapore, which use FDD bands,
Many thanks your confirmation dear friend.
I'm guessing there is no Mediapad x1 that works on T-mobile AWS
