Apps to sd with Titanium - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hello, apps to sd would be an option for people who don't want to do an sd swap but still want to save space on their internal memory. My question is, has anyone used Titanium Backup to put all their huge apps onto their external sd card? If so, how's it going, is it working ok?

Doesn't work even though it says it works.
Only option would be to backup to SD, delete app, and restore when needed.

[Q] sd card files to keep?

I have a 32gb sd card and I only have 19 gigs of music on it but it says I have 4gb left. I rooted my phone and installed viper ROM also I have the clockwork recovery flashed. I want to format my memory card and put the music back on. Do I have to keep anything else to put back on to it?

Thats more or less up to you. I'd say keep your most recent nandroid. If have games and you had to download the SD files, keep those so you don't have to download them again. Maybe keep the htcwatch portion of the .data folder if you want to keep the Green Hornet movie on your SD. Everything else is usually written to the SD as needed.
Thank you. Okay so I'm probably going to sound stupid here but will it screw up the root?

[Q] Restoring w/ Titanium

I rooted my Photon, installed Titanium Backup and backed the phone up to my sd card. Today, i exchanged my Photon for another Photon.
Do I need to root the new phone in order to backup using Titanium?
I guess what I'm getting at is that if the phone needs to be rooted again, it would seem there's no on the fly solution to immediately backing up the phone. I'd have to re-root the phone which means having my laptop handy.
Any help would be much appreciated.
How do you guys do it?
Thanks again.

Yes you need to root again. I havw tried titanium unrooted and it says it wont work. The only one i ever got to work without having root was mybackup pro but you have to buy the app when restoring to new device when using mybackup pro. Not much info but hope it helps.

You don't need the laptop to root.

I have a broken-screen Photon and want to use TB to restore to my new Photon.
New Photon is rooted, but TB will not see all my elements. It don't think it's seeing any of my downloaded apps & data.
Any advice on what I need to do? I just want my new Photon to be like my old Photon.

I've tried everything that I can possibly think of, with no luck.
I did a fresh app only save and that didn't work. New phone would not see the apps to restore.
I can't figure out how to get my app saves off my old phone to be recognized by TB on the new phone. Do I need to download all the apps from the market? Do I need to factory reset the new phone and start over?
This is really starting to drive me crazy. It doesn't seem like it should be this difficult.

I now have a suspicion that y new phone is not reading my SD card correctly. It's not seeing all my pictures or videos. I've unmounted and remounted the card but no change.
Continually confused.
Try moving your titanium folder to internal storage and see what happens

This was the key (I hope, at least). I realized I was using the internal storage SD mount for my saves. I changed the directory to sd-ext and created a new folder there to perform the app & data save.
It's working through a restore right now, but I may be close.

Chalk this up to inexperience. I was backing up to the internal SD, not the external. Once I restated to external, it worked pretty well. Now just some tweaking to be done.
Thanks all for your help!

[Q] Android

Ok quick question. On my sd card is a folder called "android". Inside is a folder called data and inside here looks like app data. My question is can i delete this folder cas it takes up 6gb.
Reason im asking is before on old rom i had moved all apps to sd card but after new rom i installed all apps to phone mem instead. So now not sure if this folder is from now or if its all my old app data from before. Unmount of sd card and my apps still work which makes me beleive its ok to delete but thought id ask u gurus first before i cause major problems.

Some applications store data in there, for example the Amazon appstore caches all your APKs there, I believe Google Maps' cache is there, etc. In *general*, it's fine to delete it but just be advised you may actually lose some data/settings you don't know about. If you're cool running all your apps with the SD card unmounted, I don't see why it would cause you any major grief.
Well basically yeah figured that. Now if i delete it and i lost sum app data cant i just use tibu and restore it ?? That way i get of the junk...???

I doubt it, I don't think TiBu backs up the stuff on the SDCARD, but I could be wrong about that. I've only used it one or twice
Any input from anyone else before i try this ? The whole idea is to try and clean some space off of my already small sscard. Just didnt think i had 6gb worth of apps and thinking it came from before when i moved everything to sdcard. thats why im asking the question in my OP.

You could always duplicate the folder on your pc, delete it entirely from your sd, and see what happens. Run it for a few days, and try out all of the apps you regularly use. If all hell breaks loose, you could just put it back on your sd and delete portions more selectively.

Worked great. Copied folder to my pc then deleted it off my sd card. Restarted phone and ultimatly it made a new android folder. All apps still work. Freed a bunch of space. Foind out Basically that folder contains all the data from games and any apps that may need "downloaded content". So dont delete it unless you feel like downloading all this data over again.

I'm glad it worked out.
I'm curious. Considering it re-downloads data, is the size of the new folder considerably smaller?

Well for me yes cas i think i had app files somehow from an earlier rom. Im not saying you will too im just talking about my situation so id be careful just in case.

Galaxy S4 Storage Issue

Is there a reason my phone doesnt give me the option to move an app to the Sd card?
I dont wanna fill up my internal space again, like I did on my last phone. But no apps have the "move to sd card" option.
How do I put apps on the external sd card??
Just got the phone two days ago. Im not rooted.

The ability to move apps to SD was removed in Jelly Bean by Google. Samsung has recognized this limitation and has developed a way to do just that. The Samsung fix is rolling out to the international variants first and hopefully soon to the various US ones.
Really? Thats lame. So there is no way to put my apps on the sd card? I have a lot of apps & have taken up almost half of the internal memory already.
So no way to do this at all?

Use the Folder Mount app to move data to your external SD card and create symlinks to the internal storage.

The point of an SD card ?

I bought an SD card a couple weeks ago and its pretty much useless since everything I download always goes into my internal storage. Maybe I am doing something wrong here? So what's the point of having one

Yet none of those things actually download to my SD card. My SD card has like 9 gigs free space and internal only has 500mb left .

Or use something like ES File Explorer File Manager from the Play Store or am alternative browser like Dolphin. ES has a downloader that is one of the choices when downloading a file from the web. In the ES settings you can set its default download location to the external card. Dolphin lets you pick the download location at each download. The TouchWiz camera and some others let you specify where to store photos.
Also, Titanium backup and other backup apps let you back up to the external card.
And most important of all, especially if you are crack flashing TouchWiz ROMs, keep your TWRP or CWM backups on the external card. They can be 2 GB+ each if you don't use compression, and not much better if you do. I have a 16 GB Nexus 7 and its a constant battle with backup space. I usually keep one solid reference backup and my latest only. I would love to be able to throw a 64GB card in it.

Best thing for you to do is educate yourself. ...As the extsd card is invaluable and something many other phone manufacturers don't even offer any more..
