[Q] Archos 101G9 and Archos Video Player V7.1.3 from Google Play? - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello to All
I want to Buy the latest version of the Archos Video Player (V7.1.3) from the Google Play Store for my Archos 101G9 Turbo 250GB Hard Drive Tablet. Unfortunately, Google Play Store tells me that "This item is not compatible with your device". Google Play Store states that it is compatible with my Galaxy Note phone however.
I know my Archos has the "Media Center" (looks similar to Archos Video Player but an older version I guess) installed by default. I really want to buy the latest version.
I have made the following modifications to my tablet:
Installed a 512GB Samsung SSD
Installed the unofficial SDE
Installed the Android 4.0.4 Firmware 4.0.26 with Root access.
I cannot believe that Archos software is not compatible with Archos Hardware. Could it be due to the modifications I have made?
Can anybody help?
Thanks

there is another one called archos video player (ti) just update it
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda app-developers app

Thanks for your answer but it is a no go. Archos Video (TI) - this application is only for Archos A101XS with JellyBean firmware. It won't install on my Archos 101G9.
Oh well...I guess Google/Archos do not want my money
Thanks Anyway.

The one you were looking would be the Archos Video Player (SA) which is meant for use on OTHER devices (not for any Archos devices).
There are 2 other ones also:
The Archos Video Player (TI) which is ONLY for the Archos 101XS with Jelly Bean firmware.
The Archos Video Player (RK) which is ONLY for the Archos 80XS and the Archos GamePad.
There is nothing new or improved in any of them. All they are is reworked versions of the exact same one that is already in the Archos 4.0.26 firmware upgrade for the 80 G9 and 101 G9 tablets. So, even if you could get one of these and some manage to get it to install, you would not be gaining anything (other than shelling out $4.99 for something you already have on your G9 tablet).

Like you say, if there is nothing new in the latest version then there is no point wasting money on it. I will try a few free versions and then buy the one I like.
Thanks for the info.

Anyone know of a video player that will output full screen via HDMI like the Archos video player does? Tried MX player and it doesn't fill the screen via HDMI

[Q] Stuttering/Skipping Music play on an HDD G9 A80 Turbo

Hello all,
I have just got myself an Archos 80 G9 Turbo (1.5GHz, 1GB RAM) with the 250GB HDD. It is mainly going to be my car media center/SATNAV to replace my A5 500GB.
Once I got it I upgraded to ICS and installed my favorite player PowerAMP and whenever I start playing a track the music stutters and skips a lot. It is practically unusable. It cannot play even 1 straight track.
What do you guys think my problem is? Any ideas?

Sadly this is a generally how the G9s run. Especially the HDD version. You could try a format in recovery and then flash 4.0.7 (downloaded from archos.com)
Well, that means I have taken the wrong decision buying it. Is there anything to do to avoid this happening? I though the Turbo 1.5GHz 1GB RAM would be fast enough for my needs. Silly me.
Does it skip using the Music App that came with the Archos?
There was a discussion (can't remember if it was on XDA or ArchosFan forum) that said only a handful of music players work correctly with the HDD.
PowerAMP was one of the ones that had troubles with the HDD.
Edit - Found the Post, it includes some music apps that work well with 250GB models. The post suggests gonemads player or rockbox as alternatives: http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=84&t=62440
Thank you very much lancewindew. This is very informative.
Do you guys think that I might kill the spin up time if I change the HDD to an SDD type. I've seen people here do that, but they were not speaking about MP3 players, they were looking for pure access speeds/battery gains.

I have heard great improvements switching to a SSD, wouldn't hurt if you can do it right

Smart TV with Android

I recently bough a tv from the Aldi because it was quite cheap(699euro for 42"), but also because it's smart tv is based on android 2.3.4
I have been able to get rid of the stock launcher that MTlogic supplied and replaced it with ADWlauncher to be able to get access to some more settings.
My question is would it be possible to flash a custom version of CM9 to the tv?
I can't put a list up of the technical specs as of yet, but i will try later on.
If i'm not mistaken it uses a broadcom 720mhz cpu
Link to product is:

Hi gazlufc,
I have the same TV. In the mean time I managed to root it, but in the process I overwrote the video player application.
Could you please post the apk somewhere, so that I can download it ?
I could support you in rooting your tv, if you wish. Also, I managed to fix AC3 sound problems for network video playing in android.
Btw. the SOC is amlogic meson m1, for which I know at least a few firmwares which should be easy to port on the tv.
Cheers.

Would love to know how you've done it!
Have you also find a way to install another rom on it, like CM? (at least an upgrade to Android 4.0?)

[Q] BBC iplayer app

Hi all
I have an Archos G9 running stock ICS 4.0.4 (Android 4.0.3). I have installed the BBC iplalyer app and can watch videos from the BBC iplayer website so there is no problem with Flash etc.
The problem I have is when I launch the app it doesn't run the app instead it takes me to the BBC iplayer website(I cannot post the url) . This is not whatI want as you can not stream live tv from this site.
I have done the obvious, reinstalled the app, cleared internet cahes etc, even contacted the BBC, and of course seached the net.
So two questions; the first is can anyone use the app on an Archos G9 and if so what do I need to do.
It is very annoying as my 7 inch resistive tablet running Andoid 2.3 works fine with the app
Thanks in advance
Nothing you can do.
New version of iPlayer app coming soon; hopefully it will allow us to stream.
BTW I can stream from the site : have you installed their new Media Player plugin?

Hi
Thanks for rapid response
Yes I have the Media Player app too and I can watch programmes from the website so if I go to say yesterday and select "The Paradise" that was broadcast at 9.00pm it will play fine
What I cannot find on the mobile iplayer website is where to stream live TV shows, if you can do so could you explain how
Also, if you have the iplayer app, does it also take you to the mobile iplayer website
Thanks
Yes the iplayer app just opens my browser to the iplayer website so I uninstalled it and use a shortcut instead.
Sorry I didn't pay enough attention to the OP so missed your request for live streaming.
For streaming live TV; search Google Play for "filmon"
Use either 'Filmon online TV' or 'FilmonX'; I can't tell the difference between them.

Hi
Thanks for this, at least I am pleased it is not just me !!
I have installed Filmon onlineTV and it does just just I want, in fact as it does so many channels it is even better
Thanks again:good:
And I just installed the long-awaited new version of the iPlayer app :
Features include:
- Watch live TV
- Listen to live radio
- Watch or listen over Wi-Fi and 3G networks
- Scroll through and find Featured and Most Popular programmes
- Add programmes to your favourites and have them ready and waiting when a new episode or series is available
- Browse through the schedule for upcoming programmes
And yet for me, the app still only serves as a shortcut to bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer
Sad.
Yep I was disappointed as well - just got a 23" touchscreen running with a small android box (Minix Neo X5) to go in the kitchen to do all sorts.
BBC site claims they have issues with screens bigger than 7" (or I guess higher resolutions) that they hope to fix. Not sure what problems they are but maybe someday!!
Anyone know of a side load us in north America can download this. I would love to have this for top gear. Do you Need a BBC account?

There's no point Steve, all this 'app' does on the G9 and G10 Archos is opens your browser at http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer/

[Q] Port video player to other devices

So I recently replaced my hdx 7 with a nexus 7 because I needed otg capabilities. But now I'm really missing being able to play my amazon prime instant videos. Is there any way the video player apk can be ripped out and ported like was done with the HD in GB days?

No. Specific DRM & DHCP limitations prevent this. There are only 3 ways to get AVOD on a tablet. 1. Buy an iPad. 2. Buy a Kindle. 3. buy an Andorid tablet with Android version 4.2 or EARLIER (Chromium webkit kills Flash for good).

[Q] Unsupported video

Hi there guys,
I am new in this forum and actually new in android devices so i have this issue i think that i will be able to find the help that i need. I got this app which i bought with the tv box which happens to be a Geniatech atv 310, with an arm cortex a9 processor. The apo worked perfectly fine no problem at all the device had android 4.0.4 ics version. After two weeks i bought to my brother an another tv box, and i thought i will just give him the same app and we could both use it ( i bought him a: android tv smart player mini pc, works with android 4.2 jelly bean, it also supports full HD ) but when i installed the app, i get the audio but the video says: unsupported video. Any chance i could edit this app make it compatible for all sort of tv boxes or any other solution you might offer, feel free to fill me in. I have tried mx player, mc player codecs, and vlc, real player nothing at all.
Ps: the app is with tv channels, i guess they are streaming channels i have no other information how it works and stuff.
