[Q] Help! Might have bricked my Rezound... - HTC Rezound

Okay, so I had a custom ROM on my phone, with a custom recovery. Sold the phone on eBay, and silly me tried to revert to stock before I shipped it out.
The phone is S-On. The bootloader was unlocked, and I relocked it using fastboot oem lock.
Then I tried to flash the RUU using fastboot, which failed. Here is the output.
i.imgur. com/sGAtSba. png (remove the spaces, I can't post links until I have ten posts and this is kind of important to my post...
Now the phone won't turn on, no charging LED, nothing... is it FUBAR?
(I thought I couldn't brick it if I was S-On but maybe I'm just stupid)
Thanks guys.

Is this a PH98IMG.zip you're trying to flash? If so, you don't do it through fastboot. Put it on your external SD card and boot into the bootloader. The phone will walk you through the rest.

Yeah. Originally, I tried that. I placed it on the phone's storage and nothing happened when I booted into the bootloader. So I tried fastboot instead (noob mistake?) but now it won't turn on at all. It looks like the flash failed on hboot

it needs to be on the removable disk drive. hboot won't read phone storage.
REZOUND-S-OFF-VIPERREZ - SNUZZO 2.3 KERNEL...

Well I've tried unbricking it with no luck. I used the tool at /showthread.php?t=1833530
I was able to successfully flash the hboot file. Tried all three versions to no avail. I still can't turn the phone on or get to the bootloader. I also tried the hboot located within the RUU zip (2.25)
I'm seriously stuck now.

Pull the battery and leave it out for a few minutes to give any residual charge in the phone a chance to dissipate. Put the battery back in and try to charge it. In the meantime, pull the removable microSD card out and with an adapter plug that into your PC. Copy the RUU ph98 file to that card. If you manage to get a healthy charge on your phone, replace the microSD card and try to boot into the bootloader. The RUU installation process should then start.

I will try this. If I'm not mistaken, it had about 50% charge when it was bricked though. I will update with what happens, thanks
Edit: it should be noted that it shows up in my device manager as "QHSUSB_DLOAD"

The name of your RUU file shows as "QHSUSB_DLOAD"? If so, it needs to be renamed to PH98IMG.zip before you try and flash it.

No, that's what the USB device shows up as in my computer's device manager. From what I've read this means it's soft bricked.

Ah, I've never come close to a brick so I didn't recognize that. I threw my idea out on the hope that you had a lower charge than you anticipated when you went to flash. If we can get any response outta the phone there's a chance to recover it.

Yup. It does. Not sure what the OP was doing here.
Do you have one of the ~400mb Pg01img files on your sd card? If so you might be able to go into fastboot in your phone and update to this.

If not, he could just mount his SD card on a computer externally and put the RUU file that he needs onto the SD card, and flash it from there. But without more information about what he was doing... kinda hard to say.

Getting the ruu on the sdcard and then fastboot would be the best way to start over.
Find a PG05IMG.zip that's stock with s-on, place it on root of sdcard boot to fastboot and should put you back to stock unrooted s-on.

Restoring to return to Sprint

I have a feeling the digitizer on my wife's EVO 3D has gone bad and I want to return it to Sprint but I am having trouble restoring it to a Sprint ROM. Can someone point me to a functional download of a stock rom? I am either downloading the wrong one or the link from many of the older posts is dead. The ones that I have downloaded don't seem to be working or I am doing it wrong. At the moment the phone boots to the white HTC screen and hangs there. I am able to boot into fast boot and get into recovery but none of the .zip files I am attempting to load are working. I have tried using an RUU EXE but I keep getting an error about the batter being below 30% even though it has been charging all night while turned off. I have looked through many stickies and how to instructions but I just can't seem to figure it out. Thanks for any assistance with this issue.

The best way to return to stock, is by using the leaked HTC tool, RUU. RUU stands for ROM Update Utility.
There are many different ways to handle this situation. The method I would use and prefer, I posted yesterday and am quoting:
Easiest solution is to attempt the RUU again ..
If for some reason, that process isn't working but you're able to access the bootloader, I'd remove the sdcard, using another device, load the rom.zip from the RUU.exe onto the sdcard, rename rom.zip to PG86IMG.zip and boot into the bootloader. The bootloader will recognize this file and flash it, having the same outcome as using the RUU.exe via USB.

Great location for the leaked RUU.exe or rom.zip files contained inside of the RUU.exe is: http://goo-inside.me/shooter/ruu .
Good luck!
I have downloaded the RUU and extracted the rom.zip, renamed it to PG86IMG.zip, copied it to the root of the sd card, and booted into the bootloader. Here is a link to a video of what happens.
http://youtu.be/k1rlKUSmp7Y
I don't know if i grabbed the wrong file or if the phone is just FUBAR.

Have you tried to boot the phone let it charge up and snag the 2.17 ruu exe from football's thread in dev section.
I would turn debug on then adb reboot bootloader fastboot into recovery wipe and then go back to hboot and relock the phone a must do ... Then use the ruu .
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
The phone will not boot past the white HTC screen so debug mode stuff is out of the question. If I relock the phone will it let me use the ruu and not give me the under 30% battery error even though the phone has been charging for the last 2 days.

I would hope so .. to use a ruu you must be relocked. I think you get some funky issues tryin to use it without relockin first I have seen others try it your way and have it say 30% thing.
I would try it . I only know you have to be relocked to use a ruu exe.

I really think it's bricked - help

Hi,
I have an unlocked Rezound that will boot to the hboot screen and fastboot one time and then I have no control over anything. I tether it to the computer but it does not find the device. If I try Fastboot or Recovery or any of the options, nothing happens.
Any ideas?

Maybe a dumb question but do you have the correct driver installed on your computer? Have you used ADB before without issues?
Please clarify a bit can you access recovery, can you use adb?

Sure, I can not access recovery and ADB does not recognize my phone when I plug it in. I can reboot to Hboot, it runs Hboot once - goes through the fastboot and then it does nothing. I try recovery or fastboot or any other option and nothing happens. It is dead.

last thing you could try is to find one of the complete stock RUUs in ph98img.zip form and see if that will install.
I had that happen and it kept failing to install, throwing partition errors. Guessing all the flashing killed the nand memory. Verizon sent me a replacement overnight.

This happened to me when I failed to get S-OFF (I screwed up the wire trick terribly), and I was unable to recover. Once the battery died, the phone was done, since it needs software to use the charger. I was able to jury-rig my old DINC battery to try a few more times, but I ended up exchanging it, telling Verizon it just died and they accepted it as DOA. Of course I bricked it the same night FedEx delivered it so I was able to do a return w/out warranty issues being part of it.

Download that file. Rename it by removing the "TWRP-" in the file name and then place it on the root of your SD card. And reboot into hboot. If that does nothing I'll be shocked.

Soft Bricked My Rezound I'm CLUELESS!!

I managed to soft brick my phone or i believe so. I unlocked the bootloader, flashed cwm to the phone, rooted then read that it fails alot with the rezound so i prepped my phone to unroot and remove cwm and install Amon Ra and nodded off to sleep while in the recovery menu... This is where it gets weird... I woke up to my phone like this. I uploaded a picture of the bootloader screen... Its relocked and will not allow me to do jack... Im not the best at development and relatively inexperienced... I desperately need help. Please.
Well you have hboot so its not bricked. I would pull the battery and then make sure you don't have a ph98img.zip in root of sd. Then put battery back in and see what happens.

Do you have HTC sync installed?
Have you tried to download a complete RUU in PH98IMG.zip form and see if it will install from the bootloader?

I downloaded the 4.0.3.xxxx ph98img.zip from I can't remember where and tried throwing it onto my sd card but when I booted the phone I to hboot it did nothing. I'll try again if someone can guide me through it. And this is my fault for thinking after being out of the tech loop for years that I could jump back in and do a full root and rom flash without much more extensive research. I found out what happened also. My gf was trying to get the phone to turn on and couldn't figure out what was happening and turned out she was playing with the volume rocker and power button. Not going to pull any punches. 1st off; learn your fastboot commands hassoon's toolkit is for ease of use. 2nd; You were almost there. 3rd; When trying to use fastboot/adb, make sure HTC sync isn't running in the background.

Have it named PH98IMG.zip(watch your filenames, be careful not to name it PH98IMG.zip.zip). But first try reunlocking again and see if you get boot. If you at least get boot animation that tells me you have a working boot partition. If not then you would need to reflash a boot.img. If you are adamant about gaining root, you could have just flashed a custom rom after flashing Amon RA + a data wipe along with proper boot.img in fastboot.

Simple steps I used when I was in an HTC boot loop.
1. Relocked and installed the stock ruu.
2. Unlocked and flashed the recovery partition using fast boot flash recovery recovery.img (name of your recovery image you want to use.)
3. Used recovery to install su.
4. Profit.
You can also use fast boot to install asop boot images. But for now if you want root use steps 1-4. It worked for me when I borked the heck out of entire phone. ( I had no recovery even after fastboot flashing the recovery partition.)

What should be done if i'm stuck at re-locked bootloader, S-ON, download mode screen, unable to lock-unlock bootloader nor able to flash RUU ? Even the unbrick tool at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=183353 doesn't detect my phone.

Hard Brick?

So I have an s-off rezound that was having issues not seeing the storage properly. I tried multiple methods to fix it but nothing worked. The next step I figured I would try is flashing a RUU.
I added the leaked 4.03.605.1 RUU .zip to my sd card as PH98IMG, rebooted into bootloader and nothing happened. It didn't update using the zip.
I then proceeded to use Hansoon2000's AIO tool to flash a ruu, it seemed to run through all the steps and flash the RUU (it took about 8 mins) but then when I turned off the phone, I couldn't turn it back on.
Does this mean the phone is bricked? Is there any way to recover?
UPDATE: The orange LED light will turn on intermittently. Typically when I unplug and plug it back in again.
Did you turn it off when the screen went black during the RUU? Did it run through twice? The RUU runs through twice, I think the second time it updates system files. When it's done it leaves you in bootloader iirc.
I assume you tried to boot into bootloader? There's an "unbrick" thread in the Dev section, you might look into that. Does your computer see the device in adb?

It stayed on the black screen with the grey HTC symbol for a long time, ultimately I pulled the battery because it wasn't doing anything.

I did let it run twice.

It does not go into bootloader or anything for that matter, no indication of power aside from the orange LED lighting up intermittently

The computer does not see the device.
