IN Gingerbread without Unlocking Bootloader its imposible.. Try ICS and Root and gain access to root.

Update phone to ICS before attempting root.

Use Flashtool to put back the .42 or .58 software, root it, and then update via Update Center on the phone. After the update, the phone will be still rooted until you do a factory reset.

[Q] How To Root Xperia Pro MK16I 4.0.2.A.0.62

Hello everyone,
I would like to know if there is any (tested) method of rooting xperia pro with firmware 4.0.2.A.0.62. My phone is unlocked. I have no idea if my bootloader is locked or unlocked...
Some say they rooted this firmware, some say they failed, and I would like to know for sure if there is any way to root it.
The reason I want to root my phone is mainly to remove the annoying preintalled apps.
Any help would be great. Thanks!
How To Root Xperia Pro MK16I 4.0.2.A.0.62
I had to downgrade the software back down to version 4.0.2.A.0.58 in order to root the phone. My thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22619413#post22619413 refers.
Unfortunately, as yet, nobody seems to have posted a simple method of rooting the phone with version 4.0.2.A.0.62.
Cheers

I have a rooted 4.0.1.A.0.283.
Will the phone stay rooted if I upgrade to 4.0.2.A.0.62?
Thanks in advance,
Danny
as long as you update it OTA it should keep rooted.
updating with PC companion will remove the root access

[Q] How to root my Sony Walkman Z with 4.0.4?

You know the Walkman Z from Sony? Great music player with android. But with one problem: Without root.
With gingerbread the player has root/can get root, but with android 4.0.4 (the newest update for the walkman) there is no root. How i can get root on the device?
With gingerbread + S.onyTablet.S v5.3 [ALLinONE] i can get root (because tablet s/walkman z = same rom, i assume), but with ice cream sandwich 4.0.4 the tool is not working/can't get root. The DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit and Bin4ry-toolkit is also not working.
Any help? Any hint?
Thanks.
... and sorry for my english.
Same problem here ...
I tried these toolkit, but nobody works with the walkman z:

I believe it's impossible to root a walkman z with ics/kernel: 2.6.39.4. :crying:
Nothing new here?

most likely have to downgrade it with a tool back to gingerbread, finding the right tool is the problem.

But without root, custom-rom, recovery-mode and the stock-rom for the walkman z there is no chance to get back to gingerbread - or am I making a mistake?
Perhaps flashtool, but again the main problem: we don't have the stock-rom. :crying:

Tell me what to do. Tell me more.
Do you need Z1000 system dump?

Hey Mikey,
If you are new to rooting , then the method provided by doomlord( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2335992) is the best , as its a one click rooting method and can root on locked as well as unlocked bootloader. Chech out this video , i tried to show how to root xperia p : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVPXQ7vN5cc
