Holly Cow! I can change the WCDMA (4G) Band!
I just changed it to 1900Mhz. This is good for people who are in areas that are overloaded on the Band 4 1700Mhz/21Mhz.
This is also good for checking if an iPhone or any AT&T phone would have 3G/4G in your area. Here is how I did it:
1.) Enter this code in your phone dialer: 3845#*769#
2.) Select "Network Mode"
3.) Remove the check from "Automatic".
4.) Select "WCDMA frequency bands"
5.) Select "WCDMA 1900"
If you want to go back to the original band select "WCDMA AWS" and then check "Automatic" in the previous screen.
---------- Post added at 10:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:06 AM ----------
According to the hidden menus the T-Mobile P769BK may work on these frequencies:
WCDMA/HSPA/UMTS: 850 900 AWS(1700/2100) 1900 2100
GSM: 850 900 1800 1900
---------- Post added at 10:12 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:08 AM ----------
P769BK has 10 point multitouch and maybe more. I ran out of fingers after 10.

To check which band your phone is currently connected to in the service menu do this:
1.) Go to "Modem Settings"
2.) Go to "Engineering Mode"
On the first screen it will show"
RAT:
Band:
If Band is UMTS_FDD there is no signal. Mine shows UMTS_BAND_II which is 1900Mhz.
This band is much faster than band 4 1700/2100Mhz when doing a speed test.

Since you are on T-Mobile, AWS(1700/2100) & 1900 are the only 3G bands available.
The reason why you notice your download speed getting faster after switching back to AWS is because you disconnected and reconnected to the network.
You get priority over every other device that has been connected longer. It is a shortcoming of T-Mobile's network since way back when they started as VoiceStream.
You can do the same thing by going to airplane mode for a few seconds and then disabling airplane mode.

You give me one more hope to root my p768f. For now all WCDMA 850 firmware are unrootable and I cannot use orther firmware because I cannot change network back to WCDMA 850. I'll try to root my phone with V10 Vietnam tonight and see if WCDMA 850 work in that firmware. :good:

Try to flash p768 and p760 firmware on my p768f and found that it don't support WCDMA 850. Reverse back to unroot p768f again.

Oh. That's brave thing to flash other variant. Just tell us was everything else working? Was is booting normal? Any strange observations like they find touch issue in P769?
Sent from p765.

Most p768 can be flash on my p768f, If there are any error after flash just factory reset it and it'll work. Only problem with p768 is my 3G network other function seem to work. So I try p760 to see if international variant support my 3G. It don't and gave me many error popup so I think there are incompatible software library with my p768f (don't try factory reset yet). And this is my last attempt to flash other variant, I've to wait for proper root exploit from dev.
Not recommend other user to flash other variant if your rom work fine. You may not hard brick your phone but something may not work.

thanks for this (=

Canadian Lumia 800 Users: Getting 3G to stick.

If you have the tri-band model and have been having trouble getting 3G, try this: (900/1900/2100)
- This could might work if you are on AT&T as well.
My friend just bought a Lumia 800 and put it on the Bell network and couldn't get 3G to stay connected and he asked me for help.
Knowing that Bell has a predominantly 1900MHz network, I figured this issue could be fixed through the diagnosis or the internet sharing .xap.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=839154
Get into diagnosis mode: Dial ##634#
Improve your Signal
*#197328640#
1,8,3,6,1,[END] and reboot.
After this, he was able to get on HSPA+ without an issue.
Let me know if this works.
I'm in Diagnostics Tool but where can I insert the code there? Thanks for your tip.
That doesn't make any sense, those codes are for a completely different phone.
Hello,
I'm on Rogers here in Montreal and I got yesterday a Lumia 800 UK. I have no problem to get 3G except in some places (inside). What I find surprising is that the phone switch often often between 3G and H (HSPDA). My previous phone (Samsung Focus) never did that.

I check my diagnostic tool (I'm on the Chinese Tango version), there is no advanced option under the three dots : (
Too bad, really want the 3G speed.

Me too. The phone switches very often between 3G and HSPDA. I had an Optimus 7 by LG previously; it also did this.
Off-topic: my browser while on 3G sometimes acts strangely. It will load 85% of a page, and then freeze for a very long time. I can stop (hit X) and refresh, and the page will load instantly. These are small, mobile pages, too -- like CNN mobile. When on WiFi, this problem does not occur (pages load WAY faster than Optimus 7 on WiFi)

I have a thought on how to circumvent the USCC version of the phone, but i'm not sure how to make it happen:
first a note: USCC removed the ability to manually program the phone (using dialer codes) as a "safeguard"
note: i think where i am stuck is that i can't find the build.sh file
1) root phone
2) access build.prop file
3) edit CDMA line with GSM line from another provider
4) save
5) reboot

cd system
# vi build.prop

[Q] How to Enable T-Mobile HSPA+ AWS Bands on AT&T Galaxy Mega SGH-i527

I tried to write the 337_AWS.qnc file to my i527. No go! "COULD NOT RESET THE PHONE. COMMUNICATION ERRORS OCCURED". Device would not reset. If it helps, I was able to backup and save my current NV memory file. But even when trying to write that back up file to the device, I would get the error. So it seems that I can’t write any file to my i527 with this method? Which leads me to believe if I could have written the 337_AWS.qnc to my device it would have worked. No? Any help here?

I thought they were compatible by default. T-mobile and AT&T now run on the same frequencies for both HSPA+ an LTE. So as long as your phone is unlocked, you should be able to put your t-mobile SIM card into the AT&T mega and get HSPA+ and LTE. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

My phones are unIocked and they work yes, but only if I'm in a refarmed area that has been refarmed for the 1900mhz band. I need to enable the HSPA & AWS bands so I get tmobile everywhere there is coverage for tmobile otherwise I will get 4G only where it is refarmed and edge other places.
Metro (T-Mobile) is coming out with the Mega Next week. Can we back-up and save the AWS.qcn file from the Metro Mega and use it on the AT&T i827 Mega seeing how Metro is T-Mobile now?
ANYBODY??
How to set/change your preferred network on the i527
I guess I am all alone on this one huh???
I may have found the Answer to one of my issues anyway.... :victory:
I could not for the life of me find the Network type setting which is suppose to be under Mobile Networks, like every other phone...This phone is set by Default to "LTE/GSM auto (PRL)" I did not know that. So After Unlocking this device, I was getting 4G in 90% of areas then dropping to E (edge) in some areas, I was just living with it until I could get the .qcn file to Enable T-Mobile HSPA+ AWS Bands on AT&T Galaxy Mega SGH-i527. But now that I changed the preferred network type to GSM/CDMA auto (PRL) I no longer go to edge.....
I'm not sure if I still need to Enable the T-Mobile HSPA+ AWS Bands by changing the qcn file when I get it or if this is good enough. Anyone?
Okay, how to set you preferred network. On your i527: Just dial *#*#4636#*#* then Select Device Information then Set your Preferred Network Type. BE CAREFUL IN HERE !!!! You can do some Damage if you cahnge a setting that you can't undue or forget how you got there.....
If this helped, please let me know (and hit the Thanks Button, it's 4am here and I gotta call it a night, er... morning)

Just for information what is wrong with having LTE "on" and what's bad about dropping to edge when the faster data connections are unavailable.
I know its slower but it gets me by if I just wait?
I knew about changing the network in the coded menus (actually I think it's choosing the bands that the phone responds to) and when I change to GSM/CDMA auto (PRL) I loose data connection all together.
If we do this, we lose LTE right?

Just making sure I'm not the only one lol. The only difference is that my battery life is a lot better, but I lose the LTE speeds.
Actually... I had to set my Mega to WCDMA Preferred (My carrier does not support/provide LTE Yet). and I am still getting Edge in areas. I will Definitely need the .qcn file to Enable T-Mobile HSPA+ AWS Bands on AT&T Galaxy Mega SGH-i527. I will post it with instruction as soon as I have it.

As soon as the Mega is out for Metro PCS, I will post the AWS.qcn file for those interested in Enabling T-Mobile HSPA+ AWS Bands on their AT&T Galaxy Mega SGH-i527.....
When you write the .qcn file it writes the IMEI as well, how do we edit the IMEI From the .qcn file that we back up from the Metro PCS Phone? Anyone?
I have tried the qcn for tmobile device i9200 I believe and it wont work....

Help Help Me please.. International unlocked edge

Hey Everyone,
So I just purchased a second hand S6 Edge international unlocked phone. I am in Ireland and on the Three network.
What I have noticed is that the phone see's 3 different networks for three but none of them are 3G or 4G
If I search for a network on my S5 it will again see 3 networks but they are distinguished by a 3G or 4G after it.
My phone will not connect unless I drop it down to 2G only and I also noticed that under network mode I have the option of LTE/3G/2G (Auto connect) or 3G, 2G
Same menu on the S5 give me LTE/wcdma/GSM ect..
Is there an issue with this phone and it not been compatible on the Irish network?
Hope someone says no
Try install stock firmware via Odin: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G925I/
Assuming you have G925i, international means it should work on all available networks world wide, not sure why your having this issue, try install the marshmallow update if 5.1.1 is still having issues. Also check your mobile network APN setting make sure they are correct.
Updated to Marshmallow and still the same. APN seems to be all good.
My model number is SM-G925F is this not the international version?
I thought G925i Was the international.... might be wrong then. Check what frequency ranges your s6 model can use and see if it matches your countries carrier frequency. If not see if someone would swap you
925F can be used in Ireland.
If you set your mobile network, what icon do you get with mobile data enabled? G, E, H, H+, ...?
Maybe you are to far away from a tower or your tower is not equiped with 3G/4G antennas.
Info;
LTE = 4G
WCDMA, HSPDA, etc= 3G
Dropped it into my local Samsung repair center and they replaced a component.. Got a new sim and just waiting on it to activate. Hopefully fully resolved..
Thanks for the input and I'll let yous know
Ok so I'm in a really really peculiar position,
Phone is unlocked and if I put an 02 or Vodafone sim in it connects to the network and connects automatically on all bands including 4g
My sim is a three sim and if the phone will only register on the network if I manually drop it down to a 2G only connection, obviously ok for calls but not for data.
If I set it to 3G only it won't even register on the network.
Set it to auto Lte/3G/2G and again it does not even connect to the network.
SIM card has been changed and checked on another phone and the phone has been into Samsung repair center, loaded with latest firmware and tested to manufacturer requirements.
Just can't figure it out!!
Any help is appreciated
The same SIM will work on 4G on the other phone?
Is the correct APN added?
Yep sim in another phone seems to be ok.
Can't understand but I'm wondering if I contact Samsung would they replace the phone for me??
In the previous post you said Samsung already replaced a component? The best thing to do is go to your service provider first before you take it to Samsung to be sure nothing is wrong on their side.
Have been on to my service provider and they have tested two sims in the phone and both didn't work while set to Auto/Lte/3G/2G
Tested sim in another phone and it seems to be ok
Get it back to Samsung.
---------- Post added at 07:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:52 PM ----------
Don't forget to ask them to test it with a Three SIM card.

Are try to force it through the hidden menu.
*#*#4636*#*#
Should I ring Samsung ireland? Also the hidden menu is not accessible
Hidden menu didn't show up when I typed it but when I pressed the call button after it it showed a message connection problem or invalid MMI code
Samsung won't do anything as they say the phone is working perfect. My provider three won't do anything because they say the sum is good and it's not a three phone so they won't support it.
Rock and hard place come to mind.
No, not the rock. In fact, your provider is "providing their service". Believe me, I work at one. Could you reboot in Download mode and make a screenshot? Did you make the official upgrade? Seems to me the LTE/3G bands of Three and O2/Vodafone are different. Maybe wrong baseband?

How do I reboot in download mode to make a screenshot? Your idea sounds like a plan ?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bii27UQYAoc
Screenshot should be attached. As for the upgrade I accepted the over the air update to marshmallow and then when I dropped the phone in to the Samsung service center they would of loaded the latest firmware ect
If this is a Baseband issue would it affect my warranty if I change it? Also would this not of been something that the Samsung service centre should of noticed?

AT&T S9+ G965USQU3ARG7 to Sprint/Boost - Activation Issue

I have a Galaxy S9+ that currently has AT&T firmware G965USQU3ARG7. I registered the phone with Boost, but the hands-free activation will not start, nor do the usual methods work like ##72786#, *#*#72786#*#*, or update PRL (that option is not available on the software). So I was wondering if I could use Odin to flash the latest Sprint firmware to the phone? It looks like the latest Sprint firmware on Sammobile is G965USQU3BRK1, and appears to be a couple months newer than the ARG7 that is on the phone currently. Is this something that I could do, and that would allow me to then activate the phone?

The latest Sprint firmware should be CSAB, which is pie?
Can you elaborate on hands free activation?
Activation for what?
You should have no problem using Odin to flash whatever firmware you want, but because you're on an MVNO, it'll take some tinkering to get everything working. First, I would check to see whether Boost sells the u version or the u1 and flash according to the phone they sell under their own service.
Sent from my SM-G965U1 using Tapatalk
Thanks for clarifying the latest version! Its weird b/c Sammobile did not list CSAB for Sprint, but I did see it listed for Verizon. Either way, that should work for my application.
So the "Hands Free Activation" is what Sprint/Boost/Virgin use to program the phone to work with the network. Simply inserting a SIM card like you can do with the GSM carriers is not enough to get the phone working with their network. You have to tell the carrier the IMEI and SIM of the phone, then the phone will go through the "Hands Free Activation" process, then it is ready to use.
Both Sprint and Boost phones use the same firmware, and the specifics to each carrier are handled during the "Hands Free Activation". So I will try out the CSAB firmware later today and report back on if that works!
The issue you're running into I don't think is necessarily firmware related. The phone is probably carrier locked to Sprint. Has sprint provided you an unlock code to switch carriers?
As far as switching firmware, because you're with an MVNO, personally I would not flash a "U" (carrier specific) firmware unless Boost has carrier specific features you would benefit from using (Which I doubt).
Reason I say that, Sprint uses a different technology/system to provide simultaneous voice and data and using a Sprint (or other U firmware) might cause compatibility issues, in that regard, because you're on an MVNO that can't/may not utilize Sprint's unique system.
That being said, Sprint has (finally) gotten on board with VoLTE which is universal, and has started to implement this into their network.
Most MVNO's have limitations on BYOP (bring your own phone) plans because of the firmware carrier restrictions placed on the phone. For instance, when I switched from Verizon to Straight Talk, I immediately wasn't able to use simultaneous voice/data because I was running Verizon configured firmware through a different carrier.
This was corrected by flashing a universal (Factory Unlocked) G965U1 firmware. This enables the universal VoLTE option the phone has instead of trying to bridge voice/data with Verizon's preset configurations.
Most MVNOs that sell devices with their service, almost unanimously, sell factory unlocked phones that aren't branded to any specific carrier.
Your best option, in my opinion, is to emulate the devices THEY sell (including Boost) by flashing G965U1 firmware (latest package is CSA8). Either download from XDA or Sammobile "XAA Unknown" region for carrier.
That firmware package, when loading it into ODIN you'll have two CSC files. Don't use the CSC_HOME file, use the other one. This will perform a full wipe (backup your data) and change your carrier to "Unknown" and effectively make your phone universal (which boost prefers).
Since Boost has already activated your IMEI on their network, your phone "should" automatically configure itself to their network at the initial setup after the flash.
If you continue to run into any hiccups, let me know and I'll try to help you work through them. Let me know either way how it works out for you. [emoji16]

By the way, flashing U firmware will remove all traces of Sprint from the phone (All the bloatware) and enable free caller ID. Which is a plus of using Unlocked firmware. You can download the boost app through Google play to manage your account after you set up the phone again.

I just noticed you said the phone was AT&T branded. As far as I know, AT&T Sim locks their phones and you'll need the unlock code from AT&T to use the phone on another carrier regardless of whether you use ODIN or not. I'm assuming you have this code if you're trying to use the phone dialer to change carriers, correct?
Sent from my SM-G965U1 using Tapatalk
You are correct that I did get the SIM unlock code for the phone! I also really like the idea of flashing the U1 version of the firmware to the phone! I will get that download started and try that later today, and keep you posted!
Thanks!
Jordan
You also didn't mention anything about APN (Access point name). This points your device to the appropriate bands and connects to the provided network. You could also try googling Boost's APN settings and changing yours accordingly and seeing if youre then able to connect to their network. Sometimes this must be done manually when not performing a factory reset after switching carriers/sim cards.
Try changing the APN settings and see if you're able to connect. If you can, great!
If you can connect to both voice/data simultaneously, even better.
Then it's just a matter of either leaving the current firmware or switching to unlocked to remove the bloatware and gain free caller ID. [emoji16]

Its funny that you mention the APN because that was actually the first thing that I tried I found a few different configurations that did not seem to work unfortunately! I am certainly not ruling that out as part of my solution to getting this phone activated though.
The simultaneous voice/data thing is where you sold me! If I can make that work then I would be STOKED!

This post may help with the missing option you were talking about.

Sprint is still in it's early stages of VoLTE integration. They were suppose to start implementing it last fall, but that was delayed until December. Most markets are seeing VoLTE already. As long as your APN settings are correct and you're running U1 firmware, you "should" have VoLTE right off the bat. If not, it's a matter of time for VoLTE to pop up on your phone one day soon and have it at your disposal.

I've never used Sprint or Boost, but I assume you're not using a sim card, correct? You're going from GSM to CDMA and because CDMA doesn't use a sim card...which is the trigger for the sim unlock prompt, that explains why you're not getting a pop-up. The dialer code you tried that did nothing was the likely the wrong code to trigger the prompt too. Let me know. [emoji6]
Sent from my SM-G965U1 using Tapatalk
---------- Post added at 08:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:15 PM ----------
And just to clarify... Your sim unlock code is a completely separate code from your dialer code to trigger the prompt. I don't want you to mistaken the dialer code as an unlock code. The unlock code will have to be provided from AT&T and you'll have to provide your IMEI to release your phone from their network and they will provide you with an unlock code. If the device is paid in full, you can request an unlock code through their website after providing the IMEI number.
If you have a separate unlock code that you haven't mentioned, good.

I did get it working!! I used the #7465625*638*# code first to re-enter the unlock, which was successful. After a restart, the phone was still not activating, so I used Odin to install the Sprint version of the firmware (not the U1 because it was not downloaded yet). The phone restarted and immediately recognized the SIM card change and began programming/activating! I now have it working, and am in the process of writing the U1 firmware as I am typing this response!
Thanks so much for your help on this!!
Jordan
It didn't immediately start programming/activating because a restart alone wont trigger a CSC change. You have to perform a factory reset or completely flash with ODIN for the CSC to switch to another carrier/region whenever you're switching between gsm/CDMA networks. Going from a GSM to a GSM carrier it would've made the switch immediately, with the exception of maybe tinkering with the APN settings.
Switching between gsm and CDMA is a whole different animal and requires a full reset to make the required changes.

I think you'll like the U1 firmware much better. It won't have the Flipboard and unnecessary/unwanted crap hogging your memory/storage. It's very barebones and unlocks some free goodies too. Glad you got it working though [emoji106] without it, you probably wouldn't be able to get VoLTE with boost. We're you able to make voice/data simultaneously on the sprint firmware?
