[Q] My galaxy s2 isn't charging - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone, i' ve be en looking an answer to my problem from a long time i've looked in almost every related post, but nothing...
When i plug in my phone (to a wall charger or to a pc with ye USB cable) the phone says "charging" but you can leave it liket thar for hours
and nothing happens, i have tried a lot of things :
-make sure the charger is good
-coneccting with diferent cables
-change the rom and kernel (a lot of times)
-even i replace the USB port
But nothing of that seems to work... Have anyone an idea of what culd be the problem?
Thanks a lot

I had a similar problem where I plugged my phone in and it said charging but after half an hour I'd lost 1% I changed to an iPhone plug and the supplied USB cable and this has solved the problem for me (I looked at the micro USB end of the plug and USB and one of the pins in the micro USB was missing from the plug) However you said changed cables and plugs so don't know however issue sounds similar

How on earth are u going to use ipone cable to charge yr sgs2. what he meant is the charger not the cable. Since u ve use different charger and cable and even replacing the usb port, i think its the board issue which means u may ve to replace the main board. Only thing u can do is get a desktop chargerand another spare battery.

irstingi them

Im sorry I meant IPhone plug not the cable, actually I have what you say a spare battery, but I want to fix the problem anyway

Try putting your battery on another sii. See if it charges then.
You can also use a dock or charge it manually.

Very weird charging issue with my Samsung Galaxy S2

My Samsung Galaxy S2 has this problem.
A: I doesn't register the charge in the socket unless I wiggle it around or put pressure on a certain area. It's sensitive and it takes me a while to make it 'stick'.
b: It only charges to about 30% and then it stops charging.
I have tried numerous chargers and usb cables and always the same issue. I have replaced the battery and its the same problem.
Any help? I bought this damn thing on ebay a few weeks ago so I don't really know its history. The seller refuses to refund and I've opened a case.
Anyway that will all take a long time.
Any idea what the problem is and how to fix it?

Try Charging the battery externally using a battery charger, and not from inside the phone....I suppose it should get charged 100%...
If not then its battery problem...
If it does get charged then there might be a problem in the port or connection to the battery via inside the phone...get it checked at a samsung customer care...If you have warranty you might get it fixed for free...
I don't think there should be any problem with your kernel etc..
Press Thanx If I helped..
Try cleaning the micro USB port with a toothbrush or something similar
This type of issue is not weird and has been discussed on forum plenty of times.
Clean the battery contacts on battery and pins on device with alcohol (cleaning alcohol). If that doesnt work and you have changed charger/battery then your hardware is faulty so nobody here can help.

I tried with an electric toothbrush. no joy. Do you mean opening up the phone and cleaning it from the inside?
This replacement part?
Hi is this the part that you would replace?
NEW GENUINE SAMSUNG S2 i9100 GALAXY INNER USB CHARGING PORT MIC FLEX PART
(CANT DO A LINK)
Apply some petrol on a toothbrush and try cleaning charging port... After some time try charging .. Iff still not working get the port replaced
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
if you need new charging port look on amazon or other type retailer i got one for £10 (uk).... then look on youtube for guide on how to fit part.. it looks tricky but its dead simple to do so long as you don't attack it like an ape.
Good luck..

[Q] s3 charging issues

Hi I bought s3 5 months back and now im facing the slow charging issues.and at one point the phone wont charge at all.. blowing cleaning also didn't work.. I took it to the service centre. They first replaced the port and it didn't work. Later that day they told its mother board problem. They couldn't explain why. And couldn't tell whether wireless charger would fix this issue. If anyone could help me how to check hardware failure I could check myself and tell me if wireless charger would work nw??
I faced the same problem and the cause was my usb cable
Replace port failed and presuming a service centre would have a decent cable you need a new motherboard .
No way of knowing what has failed without removing the motherboard and testing each component end result you still need a new motherboard .

Yeah its the usb cable, samsung ones are rubbish, mine got to a point where it would charge 1 percent an hour, tried my brothers galaxy ace 2 charger which is all in one and charges from empty to full in about a hour and a half without affecting battery life

You can take the battery out and use the universal charger.

[Q] Galaxy S3 (i9300) won't charge

So I got this strange problem where my phone stopped charging. I tried diffrent cables, adapters, charging it while being off, charging it via the computer and even tried to adjust the little lip in the micro usb port. Is the charging board dead? If it is, will a replacement be expensive?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Free mobile app
Well dude I think your assumption is right.
It might be the charging circuit only which may be dead.
Because as you told that you have tried diffrent cabels and chargers but still your charging is not working which means that the usb micro port through which we charge and connect our phone to computer is damaged and should be replaced .
There are many possible reason of damaging usb port like you may have drop your phone or by using faulty cabels and chargers or if u have rooted your phone then there is possibility of changing the voltage of current to more than 1000 Mhz etc etc.
You should try to flashed a complete stock rom by downloading from sammobile or directly using kies to update or re-flash your phone
you can try that may it may help you.

Nah, it won't turn on because the battery is empty.. I don't have a spare so it seems buying a new board is my only hope..
I saw there are loads of micro usb connectors on ebay. If I solder a new one on. Might that help?

You can try micro usb port which is available on ebay but it would be extremely very dangerous until and unless you know what you are doing.
My suggestion is to give your phone to the samsung care and tell then to repair it.
If your phone is in warranty then they will do it for free. You just need to provide them a copy of bill at the time you purchased s3.
Press THANKS if I helped you

[Q] Charging port doesn't connect to outlet or pc

Hi all,
I'm currently on archidroid 3.0.2 with stock kernel.
I also have a 7000mAh zerolemon battery.
I went to go charge my phone last night but it wouldn't seem to connect via an outlet. Tried different cables and adapters but didn't work. Another phone which was my cousins seemed to pick it up fine and charge so it's not adapter or cable related. I have also tried the stock battery but nothing still.
I use this phone alot because i can't pay for a new one so i would like to get this resolved as soon as i can. The zerolemon has 9% left and the stock is dead.
Can't connect to my pc either so using odin is out. I could clean install archidroid because i still have the files on it but without being able to charge it, it may die during install which is risky.
Many thanks for your help

USB cable does not work for data transfers (charges ok)

Just got the Nexus 9 a couple of days ago, charged it, but when I connected it to the computer, nothing, it's not detected at all. Tried both a Mac and Windows laptop.
I tried a different cable and it works fine with that, just not with the stock HTC cable.
What's going on here? Busted cable? I assume it's not a charge only cable, that wouldn't make much sense. Could it be that the cable doesn't like the USB3 ports?
are yo on modified kernel with fast charge enabled? if so, please disable it.

No, just stock rooted. As I said, other cables work fine, but not the stock HTC cable, so it is the cable, not the tablet or the computers/drivers, etc.
ahh I'm sorry i missed that. anyway, surely it was a faulty cable.

I'm more curious if anyone else has run into something similar, incompatibilities between a cable and a USB3 port.

Just in case you haven't tried this...When connected to your computer, tap on the USB notification on your Nexus. You will then get more options, one of which is "Transfer Files".

I know. It makes no difference, the tablet simply doesn't show up. As I said above, I know how to use other cables and they work And yes, not a fan that M defaults to charging only every time and have to manually put it in MTP mode.

No luck needed, just a different 99c cable
Just to bring closure to this thread, I contacted HTC and they finally sent me a replacement charger and cable even though I only asked for the cable (not because I didn't already have a pile of USB cables around but because I was curious whether there was something wrong with the HTC cable I received with my N9 or just an incompatibility). The new cable I received works fine for both data and charging. So the cable that came in the box was bad. But to my surprise the new charger I got also works much better, it chargers faster (I have a USB dongle that I can measure the charging current with). The original charger was capable to only charge the N9 but not other devices which I found weird.
So something went really wrong with the included charger and cable. How can it be that you have both a bad charger and cable in the same box? I can see one being bad, but both? Makes me wonder what I should expect from the tablet itself ... Doesn't look like quality is top priority at HTC, no wonder the company is not doing well at all.
