Hardware Question about Xperia Go and Water... - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

I just bought xperia go today, very excited the first thing I did was make sure the phone was perfectly sealed I put a glass of water ... I was surprised to see that many air bubbles came out and scare me.
When it out all works perfect ... but to remove the back cover, the blue part is very wet ...I just dry and ready.
My question is: is normal to get water to this part of the phone? between the rear cover?

Back cover without camera hole

I know this sounds strange, but I'd like a back cover for my G1 without the hole for the camera lens.
Does such an abomination even exist ready-made?
i dont know where you could get one. but why do you want one?
Camera phones not allowed where I work.

^^^lmao..but on the real, id use some bondo or something like that to fill in the hole, sand it down and paint to match the plastic. I doubt there's much of a market for what your looking for.

Yeah, thought I might have to do that "/ I suppose I'll have to buy a new cover to do it on then. The plastic at the hole should be removable right?

Hey I would also like to have a backcover for Blackstone with out a camera hole.. heard about non camera versions of phones in US not sure.. I work for a MNC IT company in India as a Oracle DBA so camera mobiles are not allowed in my company.
Please help me if you have any idea on this.
Thanks

Why not just pop open the phone and remove the camera?
The bondo idea was the best, you could buy a new phone cover, chop out a section of the old one and use bondo to secure it, sand it down and it should look stock.

yeah I'd do that and just switch covers when you want
So in this area, you cannot carry a camera, but you can carry a sound recorder and 2-way communication device? Sounds odd.
I mounted a thin metal plate to the whole flat section of the back of my G1 so I could stick it to a large neo magnet that is glued to the dash in my truck. I don't care about the compass not working. Plus, I have tested it after about 6 months. If I put a regular back on it the compass still works great. No lasting effects.
I used the side of an old computer case. Cut out the shape I needed. I cut out a hole for the camera and speaker but you could just cover the camera and leave the speaker free. After I got everything smooth, I gave the whole thing a brushing with 150 grit sand paper in a uniform direction. Then I put it on my kitchen stove top on high for about 5 min to blue the metal. It gives it a great finish that resists rusting and isn't sticky or easily scratched like paint.

I am amazed that sticking your phone to a big-ass magnet all day has no lasting effects..
None what so ever. GPS works great. Accelerometer works great. Doesn't affect storage or memory. Again, I took the back cover off after about 6 mo. Compass works fine. Must be because it's solid state.
wonder if this guy ever figured it out?
very easy way would be to peel the piece of glass off the back of the phone cover and replace it with a piece of sheetmetal so they know there isnt a hole in it. you can get scraps from pretty much anywhere and shape them with a dremel...

hey waarom gebruik je het hoesje niet?? zo'n dure telefoon zet je niet gewoon los in je zak.. als je het kwijt bent zoek dan naar een vervanger..

hey why don't you use the pouch? you don't put such an expensive device in your pocket like that.. if you lost it just search for a replacement..
I still dont have any scratches on my HD2 bought it back in December..

Just as much as you don't put a device you use so much in a pouch... I'd get mad if I had to take it out of and put it back in a pouch every 2 minutes, not mentioning the extra thickness...
It's meant to be used, I like to keep my device neat but still favor useability. No pouch, no screen protector, I'm jsut careful when I use it, then it's just normal wear to me. I wouldn't want to be annoyed EVERY time I use it just to avoid a little scratch or 2. The back cover is the least of my worries, screen is the important bit.
Or you can leave your HD2 in its original box and at home, so that it never gets flawed
And yes, the back cover getting ugly is common.
Get yourself a case
I got myself a rubber case of ebay, very cheap - 3£ -from Hong Kong this should sort everything out. Even when you drop it there is more chances your HD2 will survive. I wouldn't worry bout the screen it quite scratch resistant
I use my pouch all the time, never put it straight into my pocket, yet I have small blotches on it, on one the protective coating has even come off. Can't think of anything I have done to cause it...

Why don't you give it a wipe with what we here in Scotland call a magic sponge.
a Mr Muscle product I think. I usally buy them unbranded at a local discount store.
I have exactly the same problem, I hate fumbling around with a case every time I want to skip a track and because of this my battery cover has the paint chipped off. I recently bought a rubber case in a kit from mobilefun.
I have the cover issues and this is what i am going to do:
polish the cover as done in one of the threads here and get another cover off eBay and switch between the two.
buy a silicon rubber back cover and you will have pleasure using and protecting your HD2
Sorry people nothings going to cure the damage on my cover. Anybody see what HTC charge for a new battery cover. Like reaching for the soap in prison!

Ive had mine since november and ive never used a case, my battery cover is almost flawless there are a few tiny scratches that are barely noticeable.....
compared to my old N95 this thing is invincible.....
I've had mine since march (US Tmobile release), and I've used no cover or screen protector and there's not a scratch anywhere on the phone, including screen and battery plate cover.
I have bought a transparent cover for all the parts of the phone..called if i remember well "Clear Armor" and ever since i have no problem/fear of scratches. There are no issues regarding the touchscreen sensitivity or so, besides on the box is NOT written made in China!!

Tho for now I dont have any damages on my phone. I just use the poutch which was included.
Skipping numbers from music player? The shipped earphones had a remote control part which works very well, tho I bought a plugin earphone remote so I can use my Synhaiser earphone and skip numbers while its in the poutch.. expensive but the sound quality is so good.

Just bought Xperia S, silly question but please help

Hi Guys,
Just bought an xperia s off the flea bay, was just wondering either side of the transparent buttons are what looks like hairline cracks?, are these meant to be there or is there some sort of plastic protection cover to be removed as the front does look a little scratched and was hoping there was a plastic film on it for me to remove. I've also noticed that the seller had a screen protector on there, I removed as it was badly fitted but i'm pretty sure there looks to be another one on there i've tried removing but doesnt seem to want to come off and dont want to use force just incase its not supposed to come off.
Thanks guys in advance.

Man don't you dare to remove that cover it's the shatter proof for the screen. Also the grid you see within the transparent strip is the supposed to be working as the antenna for the phone so not to worry for that.
Enjoy the new phone its freaking awesome.....
I bet u'll love it.....

Lots of people did dare to take off the shatter proof screen and much prefer it.

I removed my shatterproof sheet. The screen responsibility improved so much. But when I hard anything plugged in, be it the charger, headphones or AUX cable. The lower part of the screen would act funny.
So I had to put an other screenprotector on it to fix it. However, with this new protector my screen is super smooth and attracts pretty much no dust anymore.

Dropped z2 yday ;/ it was one of my frenchies who jumped on me, phone fall first on screen, than on back glass and finaly landed in dogs water bowl. took it out right away, screen ok, back glass broken and no visible sign of any water entered.
I want to replace the broken glass deck, but to make it so that phone will still be wateproof.. Anyone have any experiance with that? If so, where did you order back glass and did it come with adhesive coating ..?
Thanks for all answers!

I got mine off of eBay. You need the back glass and new adhesive.
Phone won't be as waterproof anymore, but I've dipped my phone in the sink fora few seconds without harm.

Does this come with adhesive and would you know how if we can retain nfc? I heard changing the back you lose NFC...
Thanks.
It comes with adhesive. But nfc antenna must be unglued from the old back glass. To do that you have to heat up the glass very well so it won't break or torn off.
Heat up the old glass i mean.
hey guys , did anyone succeeded to buy original back glass , and after that phone is again waterproof ? cos some people told me that doesnt matter what back cover i buy even with adhesive , the phone wont be waterproof , only sony can repair it for waterproof again. is that true ?
No man
There are adhesive on the back of glass dont mention about it
You could either buy the plate AND the adhesive thingy (comes separately). Or go my way (slightly risky).
The stock glass plate keeps breaking so I took the measurements and made an Aluminium plate. Then drilled camera holes into it and painted it. Then came the tricky part. I stuck the plate into place using regular epoxy (waterproof) adhesive. You have to be very careful while doing the last part because of obvious reasons tho.
The problem with the adhesive thingy that you get to buy (And also the one that Sony uses in the device) is that although its water proof, it isn't heat resistant. and as we all know how Sony phones heat, the adhesive comes off.

This is very creative and I sure as hell would like to try my hand at it. How thick was the aluminum?
I bet your phone becomes hot as an iron when gaming haha, which is good for your internals because of better heat dissipation. Any adverse effects on mobile reception? wifi? bluetooth? guess NFC is gone haha

Well, I given my z2 to friend to replace battery and few days ago I left my phone in silk for 10 minutes, because it was dirty and no issue here.
@MindfreakBS
What are NFC and Cell reception like since installing the aluminium back plate?
Any deterioration in signal strength / call quality / WiFi / Bluetooth?

Aluminium is a millimetre thick. It does get hot, yeah.
Mobile reception is same (Maybe a tad bit lower, idk), wifi bluetooth work fine. NFC still intact. I fixed it onto the plate in position.
@rubiicon59 that should answer your question too
I was planning to post a tutorial. Haven't been able to take out enough time though.

What if I want to use a 2-mm thick acrylic as my black plate? Is it possible? Because I am afraid that it will exceed the metal frame of the phone and it will ended up looking terrible:crying:
I agree, I think 1.0mm would be more suitable.
At 2mm, you might get an M4 Aqua kind of look hahaha

I believe that if the broken glass was the only issue, and you use a original replacement part, or decent adhesive tape to glue them back together, you'll have no problem. I've had the same issue few weeks ago, replaced the screen and the phone didn't experienced any problem when submerged.
Do anyone now where can I get an official or a good quality back glass for my xperia z2, I broke the original one but i don't want to replace with one without any quality.
buy a nice "glue" to fix that..

Camera lens obstruction under glass

Never seen or heard of this before, but this happened to me. See attached image. What is this thing? It doesn't move when I tap the phone against something. Pictures are obviously crap. Is my next move removing the back cover to get rid of this thing?
Phone is less than 1 year old, but I don't think I can get warranty service as I bought it in the US as the international "no warranty" version from Amazon.

I got a hair dryer and guitar pick and pulled the back cover off just enough to get the debris out. It appears to be a stray bit of adhesive or sealing tape around the camera lens. All good now, except my phone is probably no longer waterproof.

Yes. I didn't pull off the entire back cover, only pulled up the corner where the camera is. I suppose I could buy a new back with fresh adhesive to try and make it waterproof again, but I'm not sure how successful that would be.
