[Q] Debug JB build not loading past init logo. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I compiled JB 4.1.2 for my device. It compiled perfectly after fixing the device tree and adding new variables that it needed for JB. I had to use the 2.6.34 kernel as there was not enough information to easily port to 3.0.
Anyway, it flashed well. But, it will not load.
1. I see the logo displayed per uboot (logo.bmp)
2. I see the droid which is the init logo.
3. If this were like ICS, I would get the bootanimation.zip next. However, this goes to a blank screen.
It never comes up to load after the blank screen.
There isn't much in the way of ADB without WiFi unfortunately.
Any thoughts? I really could use some debugging help.

Weird Kernel Build Problem

Having some issues with custom kernels, so I thought I'd see if anyone else is hitting the same things. (Using the source from SGH-T959_Opensource.tar.gz)
The default config doesn't build at all.
In file included from init/main.c:79:
include/linux/kernel_sec_common.h:9: fatal error: mach/map.h: No such file or directory
My custom kernel builds fine (config tweaks, nothing seriously changed) but it hangs at boot (not completely unexpected) and shows the AT&T Worldphone logo (..thats somewhat unexpected.)
I am using the initrd (as a cpio still) from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7431131&postcount=268 and it seems to be ok, except for the whole not working thing..
Anybody? Surely someone has tried to boot a kernel from scratch..

[Q] Galaxy Tab 10.1 P7510 AOSP 4.0.4 servicemanager Issues

Hi everyone:
I am attempting to boot AOSP 4.0.4 (r1) for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 wifi (GT-P7510). I have merged pershoot's CM9 3.1.10 kernel and been able to get through a few errors noticed in last_kmsg. However, I'm trying to figure out why servicemanager is now crashing and can't seem to get a hold of a logcat. I must be doing something stupidly simple incorrectly...have searched high and low and every example I have seen of someone complaining of a servicemanager crash with the same output has a logcat to provide.
Basically what's happening is I try to boot, see the Samsung Galaxy Tab logo, it sits for about 20 seconds and then auto-reboots back into recovery after the 4th servicemanager crash.
I edited the init.rc to increase loglevel to 8 which is showing me more detail, but not enough. I've attached my last_kmsg, init.rc and init.p3.rc to this thread in a zip file.
Here's what I'm doing to try and pull logcat:
1) Boot into recovery, wipe my device, install my rom/kernel + gapps
2) Run "adb logcat -v long > logcat.txt". I get the obvious "-waiting for device-" message
3) Attach device to computer
4) Reboot device and wait
When the device goes back into recovery after the failed boot, I check the output file and it's empty. What dumb thing am I forgetting? Or is it legit that the system is just not getting far enough into the boot sequence to start adbd?
Thanks all very much in advance for any assistance you can provide.
Never mind, worked it out on my own.

Build PA for M7ul -> permanently reboots

Hi there,
trying myself on compiling my "own" PA Build for my HTC one.
Basically i found everything i needed and get the build completed.
Compared to the builds from @slick_rick, my look very similar.
But after installing the rom on my One it reboots after a couple of seconds while updating the apps.
So i wiped the one and tried again. I could select the language and hit next. Again reboot.
Already switched from BBQ Linux to Ubuntu, but the problem stayed the same
Any help is appreciated. Maybe someone can point me a direction where to find somekind of logfile,as adb does not seem to be activated that early after device boot/initial setup.

4.2.2 Porting Problems - Need a quick pointer

Hi All,
I've been trying to port a 4.2.2 ROM to my GT-I9210T that has been long forgotten by the carrier, but I'm stuck. I'm not asking for someone to solve it I just need a pointer on where to look next.
I've patched my 4.1.2 3.0.31 kernel with updated Ion, Video, GPU and sdcardfs - that all appears to work.
The donor ROM is from completely different hardware. My 4.1.2 init scripts wouldn't work so I've copied the donor scripts and modified where needed. I've still got some work to do here.
I've now got hardware acceleration, bootanimation and cache build working.
On first boot everything looks good until it finishes cache building, it then re-launches the boot animation under a new process.
If I reboot it hangs on the boot animation, if I kill the bootanimation I get a status bar at the top with a clock for a few seconds then it disappears.
I've attached dumpstate_sys and dumpstate_app.
Thanks

Finding CM fail location

Hey all,
I am trying to get Cyanogen 12.1 running on a X10 tablet which uses a allwinner a83t chipset. They have not released their full kernel source so I am using the original kernel. Currently I am getting hung up on the build, but I cant pinpoint which error is holding android from booting. Is anyone who knows more about the android boot process able to identify where I am getting held up. I am able to adb in once it hangs and it looks like the filesystem has mounted properly.
I cant fit it into the post due to wordcount limit, so off to pastebin.
Thanks.
