Battery issue before I buy. Please reply ASAP - HTC Rezound

I hate to post an urgent thread, But maybe someone else can benefit too. I have a guy trying to sell me a Rezound cheap. BUT!! He said he lost the original battery and got a new one with back cover from Verizon. Now the phone does not recognize or power up with new battery but he said another battery he has for a different phone powers it up and it just shows the battery symbal with a line through it. So is this fixable with a new battery or did the dude fry the phone and trying to sell a paper weight?

the other battery is probably one from a tbolt. if it does power up with that other battery, then the phone probably is fine. you'll just want a new battery that's actually meant for the rezound. just my thoughts

The "different" battery does power it up, But he has a New battery for the rezound from Verizon and it does not recognize the correct battery.

Whatever you buy from him, make sure the rez boots up before you buy it. Whoever this guy is it sounds sketchy, make sure everything is working before you buy it

Please tell us this of BOTH batteries;
Manufacturer (HTC, etc)
Voltage ( 3.6, 3.7 3.8, etc)
Color (Red, black, gray, etc)
Capacity (1600, 1800, 2100, etc)
There are bad batteries that look legit but end up being fake! And the size, voltage do not match from the actual manufacturer! Be careful.

[Off-Topic] Verizon goes to far on Rooted devices!!!!

Ok so my co-worker just came in with at Droid 4 (God rest his soul) and was explaining to me he was informed you can't take the batt our or you void your warranty.
So he too the back of and sure as **** they have the IMEI sticker over top the batt and over laps so you have to cut it and the batt is screwed down....Hmmm looks like an attempt to stop you from rooting your phone cause you can't batt pull.
Does the Droid 4 have an external storage Card? If so is it in the same place as the DX2? Because that would be pointless for motorola to do that since you have to remove the battery to get to it. How do they know you pulled the battery? And why dont they just make the battery non removable? Arent they doing that now with newer phones? I hate how Motorola thinks.
Wtf does battery pull have to do with rooting?

Well occasionally **** ****s up and you have to pull the batt if an SBF was done before you wiped user data and your in a boot loop so I guess a lot!
Here's a quote from Android Central:
"The most interesting part of the teardown focuses on the Droid 4's troublesome non-removable battery. The teardown process revealed that in addition to a warning sticker, the battery is fixed in place with Torx screws and glue, making removal challenging and potentially hazardous. Putting pressure on a lithium ion battery tends to cause bad things -- like explosions -- to happen, so iFix recommends gently prising it out with a spudger."
Maybe that's why they have the warning sticker on it. The battery they use may be hazardous. Still, non removable batteries suck.

yeah, it sucks how companies these days often try to control to much. As far as the battery removal, I have found that on my Droid X2 I have removed the battery dozens of times back when I wasn't rooted.... the software is just junk, so it requires battery pull at times!
That's one of the reasons I traded up from an iPhone as its easier to carry a spare battery than find somewhere to charge especially when travelling

Guys seriously, Hold power and volume down for about 10 sec. Same as batt pull. Problem solved. I have had a xoom for over a year, when it freezes solid you do the same thing. I had a RAZR freeze as well while working on it, same button combo. Works every time. No removal needed.

The droid 4 does not come with a card but it does have a slot. The location is under the battery cover on top of the battery right next to the 4g sim card. They know you pulled the battery because there is a sticker over the entire battery that must be peeled on the sides to remove the battery. If you are crafty you can do it. There is no need though. The ribbon cable on the bottom of the battery is screwed in with 2 star screws(Torx) i think a t-5 or t-4 in size. It does not have traditional battery pins and terminals. If you try to yank it out, it will break.

No it will only work on devices with non-removable batteries. Since our X2s are removable, it does not have the function.

Name a Moron/jackass who allows you to access the battery compartment but doesn't let you remove it: Motorola! Ding, ding, ding! Congratulations!
What, is the battery a "museum piece"?? Do you open the battery cover and say, "Oh look darling! The flare from the sim/sd card slot accentuates the artistic impressions on the sticker above the battery. How wonderful, hmm.."?
Nonsense. Only explanation, and this is a logical one: Motorola is SOOO out of money, they couldn't even afford to redesign the Droid 4 so that the 4g/sd card slot is outside the battery compartment and the boss said we need a non-user replaceable battery. So, the clueless monkeys at Moto glued that POS.. Good one moto.. Next time, may be you guys can retrofit the X2 chassis with a 4.7 inch screen and add plastic bits to "Extend" the hull... And glue it on with some duck tape... Now that is a killer phone!
It gets even better starting the 22nd to upgrade there is a $30 charge on top of the phone cost itself.....T-Mobile here I come it looks like. Hell maybe Ma & Pa's small time wireless with two cans and a string.

Yea, its sad that all carriers are doing this. I believe ATT charges $36 to upgrade. I think they may be the worst as far as this fee goes.

AT&T and sprint share that trophy. Back at my home you never paid for incoming texts and phone Calls. I know it is an alien concept. And competition drove the prices rock bottom, here competition forced Verizon to charge more!!!

Yea...I hear ya. I really can't complain terribly though....WHile i disagree completely with the fee...you cannot go anywhere else without this fee apparently unless you go to a small time carrier. I never have an issue with coverage and data speed it's always fast for me. with Verizon, I guess that is what really matters in your cell phone service. I'd rather pay a little more for reliability.
Well not to go totally off topic but it a growing trend Playstation and Xbox with their new consoles are looking to kill the Used game market. You would have to pay an unlock fee for used games and the games will be tied to your PSN accounts or Live accounts and the possibility of disk less games.....Seems a growing trend of Consumer getting ****ed in the end.

Phone randomly shutting off.

I'll be right in the middle of texting or on Facebook and the phone will randomly shut off, battery life isn't really a factor although it seems the less charge, the more shutdowns. I've had the phone for 3 weeks and it recently just started doing it. I have read up a little bit on the issue and It seems like a faulty battery or a bug in the SD card causes it. I did a factory reset and formatted the SD card and It's still happening. What is the best (Most affordable) replacement battery for these phones? Is the anker a good alternative or just OEM?

I did this and have not had any issues in over a month. I aslo got a new back case by tellin gthem my signal was really unstable. IF you are nice and tell them you dont have a credit card you can get them to escalate it and send without you haveing to give them your cc number.
So the replacement won't have the same problems as the OEM? Did they fix the issue? Why would I need a new back case, what's the point?
So I called. They said I need to provide a CC number, so in case I don't send the defective battery back they can charge me MSRP, how do I request to cancel the order? I think I'm just going to try and trade the phone for something else...
When the phone spazs out, and I turn it back on the battery is about 20% less. I completely drained it, charged it all night and its been on for 4 hours, It's currently at 16%

I had the exact same issue as yourself. I got a free replacement from t-mobile. It was a temporary fix as many other users had previously stated, Maybe lasted a week or two till the random shut downs returned. I converted my phone back to stock as per the directions on this forum warranty exchanged it with t-mobile for free. I received my new one, Used hasoon's toolkit, S-off etc... It has been working flawless ever since. Running Energy Rom.

I had a similar problem. For me it seems to be related to the battery/phone overheating. Removing the t-mobile cover I had on the phone seems to have reduced the random shut-downs.
When I have time, I'll likely be contacting HTC for a replacement battery.
I've never owned a phone that makes me as upset as this one, this random shut down issue is a real inconvenience, If the new battery doesn't fix the issue, I'm sending it into HTC getting it repaired and selling it, I'll even take 200$ for the damn thing just to get rid of it!

What was you doing prior to your device originally losing power?
Have you tried different charger?

[Q] My Galaxy Note is Siiiiccckkkk

Please... someone help me as I have bought this phone without a warranty and likewise have no insurance.. and I JUST bought the phone maybe a month ago!!!!/B]
My phone won't keep a charge, it charges only to a certain point while on the charger (that is any charger, inc. the one that came with the phone), but will die within about 15-20 mins after taking it off of the charger, and if I use it while on the charger it will drain the battery the same way as if it was off of the charger, and die within 10-15 mins! Likewise, it started doing this funky vibrating stuff just an hour ago and will not boot up while on the charger at all anymore! I did a little research and found different opinions.. the most relevant being a need to replace the charger port and the other to change the battery. This is crazy as my phone as well as the accompanying accessories such as the battery and the charger were bought brand spanking new and SHOULD NOT be going crazy like this!
Signed,
One p.o'd Miss
I take it the phone is 100% stock; not rooted or no custom ROM? And you say that it is new and you did nothing to cause this? You didn't get it wet?
Try a factory restore. If that doesn't help then I would try a new battery.
Sounds like a failed battery to me.
A trip to your phone carrier store would be easy enough. I think they would at least try another battery for quick diagnosis.

Thank you very much for the quick response. I figured that the battery was the issue. I had a Samsung Galaxy 3 prior to purchasing the Note and it had the exact same issue,.. well not the same exact symptoms, but the need for a new battery due to not taking a charge, and I hadn't had that particular phone more than 6 months! Perhaps it is a Samsung manufacturing issue with faulty batteries, similar to car manufacturers who have massive recalls on their vehicles due to faulty engine or other car parts. My physician told me that I needed to switch to an IPhone, lol... better quality I assume. Perhaps he is right.. ???

Oh.. I forgot, yes the phone is 100% stock as you assumed. Terrible that it is doing what it is doing! Guess I need to get that battery then... ho hum.. more moola out of my darn pockets!
Your carrier (AT&T, T-Mobil, etc) store would at least put in a known good battery to see if that is all it is. And if so, then a new the cost of a new battery is next.
And as far as the iPhone......been down that road, and I could never go back to the iPhone. It was good for it's purpose and reliable. But NO more reliable than any Android phone I've owned. (3 of them).
And should the battery die in the iPhone, you will need to take it or send it back to an iPhone repair center. You don't just pull the back of it off, and replace the battery. At least in my 2 - iPhone 3G versions anyway.
And then there is rooting...cant hack an iPhone. You can jail break them, but that is not the same thing, and you still have no control over the OS.
JMO on the apple stuff.. Good, but VERY limited.
Keep your Note, it's better IMO, and has a huge screen.

LG G5 doesn't charge - fresh out of the box

I just recieved my LG G5 H850 and it doesn't charge. After plugging it in to the charger that it came with battery with 0% on it shows up, then changes into a battery with loading circle, eventually it shows battery with question mark and red stripe on it and next to that - battery with LG logo. What does it mean? I just recieved the phone and how come it considers the components unoriginal when they are fresh out of the box?

Where did you purchace it from a carrier or online. There have been many rumors of cheaply made clones. If its new take it back for waranty. They should exchange it..
I bought it abroad so I'd rather not send it for warranty because I'm afraid it's going to take ages to send me back a new one. Im thinking of buying a new battery, it's going to cost me like 10$ and maybe save me a lot of time, any other thoughts what might it be? Because it can be either a charger or battery, right? Since phone displays some battery error I'd take a guess at the first one
Have you tried charging it from the PC? If that works, the charger might be broken.

The bottom slide out mudule. With the usb port in it. What the battery clicks into. But i dont think its that cause there is electricity making it to the lcd to display the question mark so thats like a last resort.
