Make volume buttons control MEDIA volume only? - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

Can someone help me make my Flyer, running stock, but rooted, 2.3.4, volume buttons only control media volume? When I first got it, it did media volume only, and I prefer that since it stays on vibrate for notifications. I did the OTA updates for 2.3.4 and they changed it to controlling notification volume if not in a program (or any sound playing), and it drives me nuts!

[Q] Adjust Volume When Locked

Hey Folks,
I'm not able to adjust my volume or long press the up volume button to skip songs when I have the screen locked. Is this the way it is or is it just me?
The apps in question are Google Music Beta & Doggcatcher. I know for a fact that Music Beta allows for song skipping (not too important in doggcatcher). I just "upgraded" from an N1 running CM7 so that may be it and I may be spoiled. I thought that, at the very least, I'd be able to adjust the volume while the phone's in my pocket.
My X2 is the same way. I have to turn the screen on to adjust the volume. I hope it's a software issue that can be fixed.
I just found an acceptable work around. I installed Widget Locker and enabled any hardware button to wake the device. The screen wakes (but doesn't unlock) and the volume can be adjusted by just pushing the rocker.

Volume buttons to only affect media volume?

Typical issue:
- about to start some app that makes noise (game, paused music player, etc)
- trying to lower volume in advance, by using the volume button: doesn't work, controls the ringer volume instead as the phone is not playing any sound yet
- start app: LOOOOUUUUDDDDDD... until i can lower volume using volume button.
Question: any way to change the behaviour of the volume button so it controls AT ALL TIMES the media volume?
Thanks!
Don't know about any app that would do that, but you can go to sound settings before opening games, media, players, etc. and lowering the media volume before starting those apps.
Stick a finger over the speaker hole until you're able to lower the volume, it effectively mutes it. (except in very, very quiet environments)
Hi, I'm a newbie,
and i feel your problem as well.
Who in the world often change the ringer volume?
Most people will want it either at maximum volume, or minimum volume (off, at silent mode)
Most people (i believe i speak for most people),
would rather have the volume rocker to control the media volume.
Is there a better fix for this? Please help.
covering the volume hole is a nice trick, but its not really an effective solution.
Man who stick hole in finger better sticking finger in settings sounds and adjusting sound levels no ???

ah I have this exact same probelm
I have been using the finger up the butt method lol
would be nice to control only media volume with volume button
Does this only happens on the SGS2?
Or all android devices?
volume widget
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I use a "lock the ringer" app for this purpose alone.
If I could reprogram the volume buttons to always only affect the media, I could even get rid of the above app.
Loads of custom ROMs and custom stock ROMs have the option to have the volume expandable so when you tap the rocker the dialer volume appears but then there's a little settings icon at one end and you can tap that and media, notification and alarm volume all appear

[Q] Media volume stays muted?!

It doesn't seem to matter what the volume is set to, my media volume (almost) always has a slash through it and doesn't play media sounds (games, music, etc). I'm not sure what causes it or how I can fix it. The phone seems to do it randomly.
It hasn't always been this way, it comes and goes. I've watched Netflix and heard the music to Tiny Tower which both use the Media volume. Restarting my phone has shown to help at times but so far it always comes back. I'm hoping a firmware update can fix it.
I have no audio apps for monitoring volumes and none of the Motion settings that would affect audio are turned on. I keep my phone on vibrate 24/7 but still wish to have the media volume work separately than the ringer volume. I have (self-taught) experience in rooting, applying mods, general android app development, as well as every day usage with the android OS and this has me incredibly annoyed that I can't figure this out.
How can I explicitly mute/unmute my media volume?
Stock, no root, Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III (SPH-L710) Android 4.0.4 Hardware version L710.14
Do you mute/ vibrate from notifications - I can imagine that will override the sound settings. Set ringtone to zero and media to desired level?
No, I only ever change the volume through the volume rocker when I'm in an app that uses the media volume. I also never change the volume of notifications, they're muted and set to vibrate. The only volume I ever use or change is the media volume.

[Q] Link media & notification volume

Is it possible to link the media and notification volume? So when I mute my volume via the volume buttons, that the media volume is also muted. I hope you understand, what i mean . It's similar to the volume management on the iPhone.
I'm using CM10.1 on my Nexus 4.
Sounds to be a nice idea. I would also like to know about an app which will do the same.. For time being i think you can depend on some notification widgets which will disable the media volume..

[Q] Media Volume Control Only.

On both iPhone and the new blackberry 10 phones. You can disable volume buttons turning the ringer up. You can make it so the volume buttons only controls media and nothing else no matter where you are.how do you do this on android.?
I don't think I've seen that option on any of the Android versions. But maybe if we had xposed working you could have a mod to make it work.
