[Q] P769 Stock Recovery Mode - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

Wondering if there is a stock recovery mode for the P769. I know there's a recovery partition but I'm not sure if you can get an HBoot menu. I held down Power and Volume Down from a powered off state, but it simply displayed the LG logo, vibrated, and then powered off. I've also read that there is a button combination to do a Hard Reset. Anyways, I'm wondering if doing this
Code:
adb reboot recovery
would get an HBoot menu, simply turn off, or do a hard reset. Also, if that command gets to HBoot then what button combination can you do to get to it?

Do u mean CWM recovery? Its here

I think he means the stock recovery that comes with the phone, as for the button combination, I dunno. holding the down button while powering on the phone always sent me into safe mode.

I can get into recovery mode by holding Vol Up + Home + Power
The screen say that this mode is use in LG service center to backup data. When phone connect to computer it show 2 removable drive but cannot access it. No use for me.
If you want to reboot your phone just hold power button for 10 seconds it'll shutdown. Then you can power on again.
Edit: Shutdown by holding power button 10 seconds not 10 minutes.

I wonder what we can do at this special menu.....
saturnianalien: The L9 devices do not have the standard recovery menu like the HTC devices do(This is the recovery menu that looks like CWM).

So what does the recovery partition in the L9 do? If I rebooted into recovery with adb, where would that get me?

I don't know what we can do in this stock recovery mode. I can pull files from some directory via adb pull, but cannot use adb shell.
After this I just reboot my phone with adb reboot
LG stock recovery is limit. Samsung stock recovery allow me to flash some zip.

This is the same thing I get....

Recovery mode can be accessed by both rooted as well as non rooted devices...
Home + power button should work....

there is another magical way of doing this
install better terminal emulator and type
Code:
reboot recovery
your phone will automatically go into recovery mode
another way is to connect your phone to the computer and use android sdk tools and execute
Code:
adb reboot recovery
Or maybe you're just releasing the buttons too early.
You should hold the buttons......then see the word "SAMSUNG"....then it will close off again....then you will see the same word.....you should only release when you see the words "Galaxy Ace" appear .

Maybe you shouldn't charge while.getting into recovery mode. Everytime I am charging and getting into recovery mode, it won't work. Or just spam home button when its booting up. That's what I always do.

the phone when is turned off normally you can connect to PC with any mode.
but when I turned it off using Force method (power key + volume up) the phone doesn't respond to any connect to PC !
also it can't be turned on normally (by power key only) !
only when I pressed (power key + volume up) = (the same shutdown method) it turned on
and now I don't know how to let it shutdown normally to flash the ROM
Try the volume up + power while CWM is on and phone connected to the PC, this shult put in fastboot mode, then disconnect and try flash mode.

yea , I think the main problem is the battery was drained because after I flash the kernel and can't restore the backup I turned it off from CWM well and plan to flash the ROM but in a moment I decide to turn it on to try to wipe data/Factory reset maybe I could restore the backup .
but the same I couldn't , so I decide to turn it off and flash the ROM , but I couldn't , the phone was not able to turn off from CWM as I did before .
at the end the phone was turned off due to the battery was drained
so I connect it to charger for about 3 hours but as the phone doesn't charge !
and now I'm so scare that maybe the battery or the phone is damaged ..... !
finally the problem is gone
my friend disassembled it and removed the battery cable then re-back
then the phone is able to be charged properly then flash the ROM

Reboot your phone.
Check for the SuperSU app installed on your phone.
If the SU app doesn't appear, try 2-3 times more, your phone will be rooted.
Congrats, your phone will be rooted.
Recovery
The method for entering the recovery on HTC's website is wrong and plainly opens the factory test mode.
For entering the recovery, Switch off your phone.
Press and hold the Power and Vol Up button simultaneously.
Now relax. Use only Volume Down to Scroll and Voume Up to select.
Select Recovery from the list by pressing Volume up while highlighting it.
You are now booted into Recovery. This recovery is a plain Android 3e recovery but with a Nandroid Backup/Restore functionality.
Alternatively if you rooted your phone, you can grab a terminal emulator from the Play Store type in:
Code:
su
Allow it SU access.
type in:
Code:
reboot recovery
You will be rebooted into recovery.
Installing BusyBox
Install the official BusyBox app from Google Play.
Install BusyBox using the app, it will take more than 1 try. Keeping on trying to install until it finally does. Took 4-5 tries for me.
Flashing the CWM Recovery
Download this file.
Install Flashify from the Google PLay Store.
Take a backup using the app.
Flash the .img you downloaded in the first step.
Note: There have been problems mounting the internal SD memory with the CWM Recovery. So as of now please use an external SD card.

You could try a usb jig to get into download mode then use volume buttons to reboot phone ( but I don't know if it would boot to recovery again) or you could try flashing another recovery twrp, philz etc while in download mode.... I'm not too sure if adb works in download mode but you could also try that.

Start Error in Pixel Experince, by Boot.img flashed by Fastboot (phone almost brick).

Hello friends, I hope you are well. I am writing to everyone to see if anyone can help me with this big problem.
Yesterday install the Rom Pixel Experience, all good, all the steps to perfection and others, had microSD at that time so flash the boot.img by Fastboot. It seems to install the Boot.img in the Recovery TWRP partition, or something like that. Because I do not have the Recovery either, when I try to go to the recovery, the window "Bootloader Unlocked" appears, but it does not take me anywhere, only to the boot of the rom, it is something very strange and the truth scares me. I clarify: I can not access the Fastboot, nor the download mode, nor the recovery, because it does not.
There will be another way: ????
PLEASE IF SOMEONE CAN HELP ME, FIND ANOTHER METHOD TO ENTER THE FASTBOOT OR DOWNLOAD MODE, THE SOLUTION THAT WORKS WILL PAY ME WELL TO THE PROPONGA, PLEASE, I DO NOT WANT TO LOSE MY MOBILE, I BUY IT WITH A LOT OF EFFORT.
Last night I dawned on the boot logo, until it was completely downloaded and at this moment it continues to do so ... By GOD!
When trying to enter the Fastboot or download mode, it takes me here:

Hey, sorry for your sad state. Following process worked for me when I got stuck yesterday like that.
1. Connect your phone to PC ( make sure adb/fast boot is setup)
2. Hard reboot your phone with power plus volume down button.
3. As soon as your phone turns off, press volume down only and keep it pressed till you enter fastboot.
4. After this phone should be recognised in PC and you should be able to boot in TWRP using fastboot.

Hope this works for you @Yeriorlando. @gimpy1 had a similar issue when installing Havoc ROM. Part of the problem seems to be when installing the custom kernel?
gimpy1 said:
It was operator error (generally is) on my part, I'm sure. The only thing I did different that I can remember is installing the 9.0 boot image in twrp differently. I installed it in the recovery option first (intentionally, should not have), instead of ticking only the boot choice. I did not untick the recovery option (should have never ticked it in the first place, but I was trying to correct a problem on the ROM, and misread a post).

IF you still can't after the suggestion at top, maybe @SGCMarkus or @runningnak3d have some tips?
Unless you have an H932, then if you get the error that: "Your device software can't be checked for corruption" then you have fastboot. It is literally impossible to have that message on a WTF rooted phone and NOT have working fastboot.
So, as @ZestyManu said -- make *sure* your phone is powered off. If you have to let, the battery die. Then hold vol down + plug in the USB cable (no need to touch the power button) and you will enter fastboot.
-- Brian
Thank you all. I have solved the problem in a super crazy way, to pure ADB, not fastboot .... Pure ****ing adb ... Hehehehe. Thanks to @ChazzMatt
