[Q] {HELP Accidentally enabled something wrong} - HTC Rezound

Hi, I have an HTC Rezound running a CM 10.1 android 4.2.2 and i was fooling around on it the other night and enabled a 1280x920 overlay in dev settings and now phone is going haywire. the touchscreen still works but the screen glitches and shows settings the home then angry birds and it gets hot realy fast so i pulled battery in case of thermonuclear war inside of the phone. i was wondering if i could fix it without reflashing the rom because my phone is S-on so flashing boot.img is a pain but if thats what i have to do the ok but id rather not.

HTC REZOUND S-ON ANDROID 4.2.2 CM 10.1

Reflash if you don't have a recent nandroid.

ok thanx

Boot into safe mode. Google how to do it on android. It varies on android versions but when I did that on a 10.1 ROM and I think it was hold power+volume up than after HTC white screen let go of power and continue holding volume up till unlock screen. I can be wrong but that's what I did just Google it
You will know your in safe mode. It will say it at the bottom left part of the screen

OP
you can boot into recovery and wipe data partition. you will loose your apps and save files but it will get back to stock cm10 for ya.
what i would do is make a nandroid
wipe data partition
boot phone
use titanium backup and restore apps from nandroid
make sure you don't choose any system/ data that will show up
profit
of course this is if you cant get safe mode to work.

[Q] Problem while flashing CM7 for Thunderbolt. RC1.7 (phone is not booting)

Hi,
I successfully rooted my phone using Youtube tutorial without wiping data (revolutionary.io).
After that, I downloaded ROM Manager and tried to flash CM7 for Thunderbolt. RC1.7. While rebooting at that time, the Cyanogen mod screen appears and nothing happens. I am unable to proceed further and the phone is not booting. The phone is displaying that screen for more than 12 hours now. I tried removing the battery, reboot and nothing worked.
Did it get bricked? Can anyone help me resolving this?
Thanks,
Kala
Did you make a backup before flashing cm7?
Do you know how to boot into your bootloader?

No! Unfortunately, I didn't take backup.
I am ready forums and help to understand other options but for now, I don't know how to boot into bootloader.
Did you ever run in to this kind of problem?
Sounds like you didn't clear data and cache when it asked before install. You are going to have to clear them and probably have to reinstall from clockwork recovery.

Yeah go into bootloader(power off then hold volume down button and power together) choose option for recovery. Wipe data/cache and reflash your rom. Lemme know if it works for ya.

I am able to come to that screen and see different options there (ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.1)! There are 2 options to choose here to wipe:
1) wipe data/factory reset
2) wipe cache partition
Do I need to choose any of them or choose to install zip from sd card?
Thank you very much!
Choose both of those and then install zip from sdcard. Since you downloaded within rom manager it will be buried somewhere in the clockworkmod directory.

Make sure to clear /system too.
Thank you all
It worked...I am able to boot with the new ROM. As I didn't back up, I lost all my data though! Will my contacts be anywhere and is there a way that I can get them back?
Thank you all once again!

It's interesting! I don't see android market place here in this ROM...am I not seeing it right?
Thanks,
Kala
If your contacts were synced with your google account they should just auto-populate. You always want to wipe data/cache 3x before you flash a rom.
For legal reasons they don't include the market with their rom. It must be flashed separately.

Same happened to me.. When I go bootloader(power off then hold volume down button and power together) it will not let me go down to recovery. it automatically does fast boot. I've been stuck on the CM7 boot screen for 3 hours. Anyother options?
Wrong post sorry

Stuck on boot.

Hi all. My Droid x2 is stuck on the boot screen with the Motorola logo and won't go past that. I attempted to flash Speedy v6, and this caused this. I also tried fastbooting by going into Android Recovery and wiping cache/format data, and it still does not work. Please help me with this situation. Thanks
Try sbf if you can't get back into bootstrap recovery.

If you made a nandroid backup before you broke it, turn phone off and plug it in, hope it boots into bootstrap recovery, then restore backup. If no backup or doesn't boot into bootstrap, you will have to sbf

Ihad the same problem but turned phone back on with power and down volume button on at same time until you get into the point where you can get into your android recovery. Remember to hit both volume buttons at same time when you get to the android and triangle. Wipe data factory reset and re boot and it worked for me. If not then you will have to sbf again. I was ready to sbf but this worked instead and saved some time.

Really now?
That would be nice.
Sorry must be a noob mistake. I thought while I was in there to clear data/factory thought I also seen a spot to load zip from SD. Guess I was wrong you all know more than I do I have only been at it now for a couple of months
Pretty sure there is an option to apply update zip but my backups aren't named update and they aren't zips so that poses a problem __
I see I never tried I just figure that yo ucould get to it like you do with recovery app. I did get bootloop when flashing to 2.3.4 and thought I was going to have to sbf again. However starting up in backup recovery and clearing data and factory reset again fixed the issue. Eclipse went smooth and is looking good! Just concerned on my battery life as I need a strong battery for work.
Yes u will have to clear data/cache from stock almost every time u sbf. I know I have.
i sbf back to 2.3.3 and reflashed the script and worked perfectly. thanks for all your help!

[Q] Bootstrap not working with Eclipse 1.3

So I just flashed eclipse last night and it's working perfectly fine. One problem I'm having, though, is that whenever I try to go to recovery mode (I open up the bootstrap, install recovery, and then click recovery mode), it just goes to the charge screen. I AM plugged into a wall outlet whenever I try this.
I am rooted, I do have superuser permissions on the recovery. Any ideas? Thanks

more info please
what eclipse version?
what Android version?
how did u obtain root?
are u using the bootstrapper located In settings>eclipse parts
and make sure u press install recovery before pressing recovery mode.
edit...okay I see u r on 1.3
make sure u r using the bootstrapper from eclipse parts.
if that fails to work try forgetting superuser permission and then regrant them.

yes you're correct i'm on 1.3. I'm on 2.3.4, and I used the one-click root method and have already used other root-require apps and they work fine. I am using the bootstrap located in eclipse parts. I'll try that, thanks!

also
u sure u have power actually making it to the phone?
I have had times where I didn't have charger hooked up correctly
and times where the power to the outlet I was using had been cutoff and I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work lol
---------- Post added at 02:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:16 PM ----------
and if all else fails u can always try wiping data and all that jazz lol
but u would have to do it from stock recovery.
worst come to worst sbf and try again
I don't see why it wouldn't work if u are following direction and not.missing any step
not sure but I think usb debugging might need to be on. in development under application settings.
I tried forgetting su permissions but it didn't work, went to the charge screen just like every other time. I've been installing the recovery.
Hmm does it have anything to do with the bootstrap "thinking" the entire time? The circle that shows the system is working never went away, if you know what I mean. Does that make sense?
USB Debugging is checked. I just checked to enable installation of non-market apps just in case and tried again, but it went to the charge screen again...

r u following this exactly?
1. open eclipse parts
2. bootstrap recovery
3. press install recovery
4. wait for "install success"
5. plug phone into charger and charger into WALL OUTLET.(where the battery level is should change to the lightning bolt symbol)
6. press reboot recovery.
7. BSR should come up
if not u r either missing a step or something is wonky.
try data wipe maybe.
---------- Post added at 02:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:30 PM ----------
any luck yet?
I have had it plugged in the entire time, but I'll wait until I install the recovery next time. I'm currently not at home but I'll try it once more when i get home.

It won't uninstall for some reason. Each time I tried it said it failed.
Also, I tried waiting until I installed the recovery to plug my phone in but it also did not work. I just wiped data, I'm gonna see what that does.
Data wipe worked! Finally.
Thanks everyone.
Alright so here's what I actually think happened:
I backup all my apps+data with MyBackup Root.
When I went to restore all the apps, I included the bootstrap in those restorations.
So I think the bootstrap getting restored messed up the existing bootstrap.

I did.mention that earlier lol
((EDIT:: just realized u just got home...not trying to be snaky I am HAPPY its working for ya bro! congratulations )
and uninstall wont work since it is a system app integrated into eclipse parts.
glad its working now...
remember ...when all else fails, data wipe ...
and if data wipe fails....sbf
if sbf fails(and u have fully charged battery)....call assurion ...
those are the simple.steps to live by on X2
sbf and/or data wipe will fix almost ANY issues
just sayin
Haha you DID say it, I thanked you! Ah I'm loving Eclipse now that everything is smooth and running.

nandroid restore help

I recieved my CLNR from verizon yesterday. Made a nandroid last night.
Today I have unlocked, rooted and now I am trying to restore my nandroid.
This is what it looks like:
x boot
x system
x data
x cache
recovery
sd-ext
x android_secure
android_secure_internalsd
perform restore
return
I hit perform restore and this is what happens
oops....something went wrong. Please check the recovery log!
What does that mean and where do I go from here?
Thanks

when you go into restore in nandriod back up you get you device id before choosing which back up. each phones different. you need to use your computer and change the device id of your old nandroid backup to the same as whatever it is for your new phone then. not the backup file name, but the first one you have to choose in recovery i believe its like "HT19Xs2694" or whatever rename that to what your new phones is
Could you explain how I go about changing the ID with the computer?
Thanks

K. On your new phone create a random nandroid. By creating it you will be able to get you device I'd for that phone.I'd use a spare sd of you have one so you don't get em mixed up of not just take note and don't het em mixed up. once done pull the sd out and plug it into your computer. Open your sd card locate that nandroid folder open it (you should have to click on the device I'd then pick which bavkup) just highlight right click copy text. Then Open the nandroid folder that you want to use and go to that device I'd highlight right click paste the new name over the old.. and all should be good the device I'd should match up and begin restore pm me if you have anymore problems I'll give you my gtalk and help further.

not that your wrong at all but when you say theres "no need to mess with the device id".. i say theres no need to switch recoveries if unnecessary i dont like the idea of a 'touch' recovery. this method is simple and takes all of two min if done properly

I agree. However, both are correct.

SystemUI has me quite stuck

Okay so I have the No name rom running on my v10. I also run G4 Tweaksbox for general customization. This morning, I installed a TweaksBox UI Theme. Worked fine after restarting the apps but now after restarting the phone, I realize it doesn't play nice with this rom's patched system ui.
Wouldn't be a problem to fix, except I have no means of entering recovery. The keyboard shortcuts have never worked for me to boot into recovery. And now that SystemUI won't let android run long enough between error messages to allow usb debugging, I can't reboot into recovery using adb. Fastboot can only reboot to the bootloader.
I'm feeling stranded. Anyone have any ideas, I really don't wanna flash a system image and lose everything. I've gotten everything just the way I wanted after 3 or 4 days and haven't had a chance to back it all up. I was planning on doing that after the theming
Please
Help
Thanks

If you just need to get into recovery, it should definitely be doable. I had trouble with the button combination too, but i think I got it: with the phone powered off, hold power and volume down, just until the LG logo comes on. Release the power button only and then press it again, with volume down still depressed, and you should get a screen asking if you wanna factory reset. What I've read is that if you select yes, it doesn't actually wipe your data but takes you to recovery. Browse a few threads to verify if you like, I've seen people say that. Anyway, good luck and I hope you get it fixed.

Glad it worked for ya. Just keep in mind, I was informed that if you ever happen to still have stock recovery installed, it WILL indeed wipe your data. It's only because TWRP is custom recovery that the data wipe doesn't work as it says
Good to know thank you
