Help!! Loss of sound on calls!! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I've tried many things to fix this issue. But sometimes on a call it randomly reboots and I lose sound on calls after a restart. Usually clear cache and fix permissions fixes it. But not this time. Any help is appreciated

What ROM are you running? Did you check that ROM's forum to see if others are having the same problem?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app

Latest jellybeer4. Ive had this issue on a few different roms. And the best advice I've received looking through other threads is to clear cache and fix permissions. Its only sometimes a temporary fix
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium

The latest commits to several updated JB roms are causing call sound issues.
Revert to your previous build, and then scan the threads for a suitable fix. They are out there, and just needing some searching to find.
It's an annoying little bug, and is kernel related.....g

Ahh I see. I love this build, I'll try experimenting with kernels then. Hopefully that will help. And yes, annoying is right!! I use my phone all day calling customers when I'm on the road. Then then sound goes out and I'm stuck playing with it until I get it fixed. Its a pain!!

This issue has been answered. Switch kernels. 4Aces b29 resolves this issue for many.

Jamie's unofficial cm10.1 preview 8.1 fixed the call audio issue for me. I upgraded to preview 9 today and the audio is still working on this version as well. Hope that helps!

Well so far the 4aces is working great apart from my battery life being somewhat horrible now. I may just try fj kernel and see if battery is any better.

FJ's....3.0.9 kernel from his rootdev site will do the trick for the problem.
These newer JB builds are fantastic ....
But of course, no great rom can be perfect ....it needs a bug to keep us coming back ...lol...g

Yes ....use his for a bit ...
My battery life has been great.
And I saw in another thread today, something about this audio bug in certain kernels causing a wakelock condition and not allowing the device to sleep.
This would explain most of the battery drain issues.
Download cpu spy from the play store and watch the cpu for proper sleep cycle.
I've had a solid sleep pattern, and great call quality using both the 3.0.9 kernel, and his 3.1.2 (untested) alt kernel.
But this has been on his latest 0306 build.
Good luck...and happy flashing...g

Well the goo.im isn't working for some reason. And I don't need anything really fast. Stock speed is great. What's the best CPU settings for solid battery life

Media volume appears to be jacked up on this ROM. When turning my volume down 3 notches, it almost goes silent. Did I miss a fix in the settings? Sorry to post this under the "Random Q&A" section but it appears that XDA micromanages harder than my boss. Thus, I can't communicate with the actual dev. Yes, I've searched this site as well as Rootzwiki, but have not found an answer. Thanks for your time!

I am going to try tirmat 1.4 kernal instead 1.5 tomorrow. I heard its better.. (xda 10 post sucks ..before you can post in dev section) so far this rom has little hick-ups but good.. try next time to add gapps in the d/l (like liquid ics) might be easier..

I do like how it gets quiet quickly, however it kind of defeats the purpose if it goes silent before you get to the bottom of your media volume. I think whatever it is it's also influencing the peak volume. Don't get me wrong, I've said it before and I'll say it again: by far the most reliable ROM I've run to date on my Bolt. Thanks for all the time you're investing!

I hope this isn't too late to be noticed/I certainly don't want to add to the trouble you've gone to Jester, but I noticed a force close under menu/settings/sound/volume. Not a big deal, just wanted to bring it to your attention since I didn't see it mentioned on the main thread. Thanks for everything you're doing for the community!
Since I can't post in the dev section, just wanted to say thanks again Jester! 1.3 is fantastic so far! One of the most responsive roms I've ran yet. Yea, I cleared the Dalvik and Cache - just tried it again and I got the same freezing. Also, unrelated, on this rom mlb at bat won't let me watch games. It works on any sense roms, but it can't find my location. Did the gps fix and I get a lock within 2 seconds. Otherwise no issues since flashing!

No problem. I wasn't trying to call you out, just confused. To answer your question, it looks like you may have to patch the ROM yourself to make it compatible. This recent version had fixed compatibility issues with a few ROMs, but since Jester's is new I doubt it includes his ROM (even though it's CM based, there are going to be differences). See the screenshot below or visit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1357056

The baked in Battery Calibration app will do it for you, but it's recommended to barge to 100% before callibrating. You can also clear battery stats through recovery where you would clear your dalvik. There should be an option to clear battery stats.

Yeah its not just you, its broken and won't work for anyone. The fix is to not change it. Newt is just finishing up a new build. He made it really clear that 5.0 had some issues and people should wait on the next build. And the next build is close, he's been working hard on it to eliminate the couple of very minor bugs. Hopefully you flashed a different kernel if the one included have you some trouble.

I'm on a build from 2 nights ago but the sound profile seems finicky. Like it will show the icon n status bar that its on silent. But a notification will sound, then I can use the volume hardware buttons and see that the ringers way up, but if I turn it back down and LA with it a bit it gets right.
Also, with the play store when I am doing what I call rapid fire downloading, which is scrolling through "my apps" and installing one after the other, is rare but after about 12 apps sometimes the play store will just force close to the home screen. But then I can open it and it loads up fresh and works fine.

[Q] In Call Audio (microphone) Issue

I've been running cm10 on my jewel for awhile now, and lately the people on the other end of my phone calls have been complaining that I sound extremely muffled or distant, to the point that a phone call is almost impossible. This is so frustrating and this is my primary work phone. Idk how its just u and I? I'm assuming with sprint being aware along with/ tech support /multipl3 replacements/weekly complaints - that they will allow me an early upgrade for the One or S4. Whichever is first because this has been a nightmare . Bluetooth the only usable format for voice calls. A full wipe and flashing a sense ROM should fix it for you guys. If the problem persists after that there could be something physically wrong with the mic

You don't have to do that. I had the same problem when i flashed a certain CM10.1 rom (cm10.1 black from swiperrat i believe). I simply wiped everything and installed irocevo's unofficial CM10.1 4.2.2 (the one with xperia z launcher and acid audio mod) and i was apparently perfectly clear after that. Give the rom a try, it fixed my issues.

have you guys all tried Sense ROMs to see if they fix your problem? otherwise you might be in ipclark1's situation (i.e. a problem with the actual mic rather than a software issue).
