[Q] S4 VS Padfone2 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, what do you think? Would you rather get the S4 or the Padfone2? Opinions would be appreciated.

My Opinion is ASUS PADFONE 2 For That Reasons...
-My Pc is Asus
-My Laptop is Asus
-I had the padfone 1!
-And tommorow i buy the padfone 2!!!!!!
Also i saw review about that 2 phones.they are not so different but the external matterial of ASUS is great....
MY OPINION.....
(Also you can use asus as TABLET!!! Is A GOOD REASON!)

What's troubling me from making a decision right now is that the tablet can't be operated without the phone and you can't pick up incoming calls without removing it from the pad. Apart from that I've always thought that the padfone 2 was great but now there's S4. And there's not even a thread which is dedicated to the padfone 2 here which means I can barely tweak my padfone 2...

i have the padfone2 and you can answer your call from your pad, besides the Padfone infinity is coming out soon, wait for it then decide.
good :good:luck

Looked for along time at Samsung, but price crazy for 32gb tablet alone and would have needed another data plan (what's the point if it's not instant on, I'm not gonna set up tether every time I want to surf, and its going to kill my phone battery if I forget to turn it off...3g is essential!!!)...
so bought used fonepad off ebey in UK for 500, best superphone I've had in ages, last was HTC sensation which was good but much slower and constantly running out of and reallocating memory, app multitasking was just painful, and screen was just a little too small for surfing, note taking, video etc... OMG, compared, this padfone is multiple organism provoking
This one is awesome and the pads ability to recharge phone just by sliding it in means I can use it for work almost non stop during the day... without the risk of having entire functional and configured tablet nicked - phone stays in my pocket unless i need to do something...
Perfect concept, one data plan, auto switches to WiFi when in range, Supernote works great, easy to jump to tablet to compose longer emails and sms... great for travel, 5 gmail accounts no problem! White ebay ultra pu stand+case from justilikecom for 15 quid works great. Cheap eBay bt headphones from e-superb for 15 GBP work just great for calls and music, and even movies on the go.
Not so good:
battery use pretty heavy in tablet mode, but maybe cause battery getting old on this one.... not possible to run for whole day non-stop without a recharge in the middle, but i have yet to find one that does... manufacturers figures always assume lowest power modes and screen off after a couple of mins(doesn't work for my usage at work-taking notes every couple of minutes, Gtalk, calls etc.) Basically on more often than not....
Suffered from known issue of sporadic reboots maybe10 times total, when cycling WiFi on and off (but that hasn't happened in a week so maybe another config option has negated this issue- not sure?).
No issues with power connector as some people commented (aware so careful) but regular micro-usb chargers don't work well unless you just use them to charge pad by itself... with phone it seems to recognize that it's not Asus charger and load will be too great-stops charging-and i can't find a spare adapter uk anywhere....
Best- The flexibility and bi-personality of the pf2 is awesome, with separate home screen app-widget config in pad or fone mode works great, so you can have 2 completely separate sets of home screens-more work to set up but I find tablet use totally different to phone, so very useful to have. Takes maybe 1-2 secs for phone to switch over to pad mode and redraw-rescale everything. Nice!
Can take calls and use it as speakerphone, or via BT, or just pull phone out and talk. It's a one-stop shop for communications...Google hangouts with video work fine, Skype also, what more could you wish for.....
Wish I had the money for an infinity(1000 GBP!!!).... but I now know what my next phone-tab will be
Wish xda had separate section for us to hang out in as well......

Follow-up.... on the charger issue-when phone is in tablet it detects amperage charger supplies and stops overloading if too low...so real 2A is required... nothing else.
Confirmed via http://www.padfoneclub.com/pl/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?4405.0#post_5808
Will try and source a real 2A wall brick and see if that works....
Sent from my PadFone 2 using xda premium
And more..... bought about 3 hi-power wall chargers that promised 2A - none of them worked fully like OEM charger. Despair was setting in. Called bunch of retailers, no-one had oem uk charger.....
Then I bought portapow 4 port charger. Works great. Real 2A puppy, so works just like OEM, charges both tab and phone together no problem.
Details for the desperate- 14.99 gbp from fleabay, free shipping. Listed as Quad 4-port universal USB mains ac wall charger 10W 2A for iPad by seller portapow_co_uk. I have no connection, just good opinion.
Now rooted and running guerilla rom.... finally some action!!!! I'm going to look for 64gb version next.. need more room for my music and videos
Enjoy, whatever you get!!!!!

Batteries

I had a quick look but i couldnt find these ones on the site. As most of you know a spare battery (or 7) is a must with the TP2. But im a noob and im not sure what the difference is with these with the mAh ratings. Is there much difference between 13050mAh and 1500mAh batteries? which will be better?
Heres the 1500mAh battery
Here is the 1350mAh battery
Thanks
Personally, I wouldn't get a replacement battery from HK, and not over Ebay either - I've used one source for two-way radio kit over there for a while, and while the Li-Po and Li-Io batteries do work, they appear to have a limited life span in comparison with OEM equipment available over here.
I'd think about long-term savings, and get something from Clove (linkage here), who at least can be held accountable to the "fit for use" elements of the Sale Of Goods Act 1964 over here, unlike HK sources via ebay. Don't get me wrong - ebay's a great source of bargain kit, but for something as essential and spec-critical as a PDA/Phone battery, I'd go home-grown retail sources every time, purely for the legal protection.
In any case, I'm getting a PowerMonkey from Maplin today. Much more versatile for me
My spare batteries have always been HK cheapo's and never a problem with them before. If that one you showed me was half the price it is then id have got it.
1600 mAh battery from the uk?
Is this really genuine?
SMF_12 - I opted for the powerMonkey for a number of reasons.
It's small enough to lug around in a pocket or belt pouch.
It carries potentially two full TP2 charges from a single full charge
It's got a long shelf life on a single charge
It's got adaptors in the box for most of the portable devices you might already own that take a 4.5-5.5 vDC charge
If by chance your connecter isn't there, they suply additional ones at a very reasonable cost
It'll charge my TP2 and my other half's Razr (that's the motorola phone, not the ladyshave ) too
Oh, did I mention it's rechargeable off anything with a USB port, and can take a charge off any mains power socket on the globe (travel plugs come as standard).
I'm rather impressed with it
However, if all you want is the spare battery, then by all means, go for that instead
As to the "is this genuine"... he's in the UK, subject to the Sale of Goods Act and the Trade Descriptions Act. If he's telling fibs, he can be held accountable. Hope that helps
Have fun
UPDATE: Hold fire on the PowerMoneky, folks. There's a glitch. While the supplied USB charging cable works with the miniUSB adaptor tip to charge the TP2, the PowerMoneky itself does not - say again not - appear to be charging the TP2. Only found this out last night - I've been using the USB adaptor cable and tip up to now.
A trouble ticket email has been sent to them, asking for any information regarding this, and hopefully a fix as well.
You can imagine how damned annoyed - and embarrassed - I am at this point in time.
Update - very rapid response from PowerTraveller tech support - seems that they believe I need a "DOPOD" adaptor tip, and requested my snail mail address so that they could send me one - still doesn't explain how the miniUSB tip works when I'm using it in the car from the cigar lighter -> USB adaptor, but there y'go. Soon as the DOPOD tip arrives, I'll test it out, and update you all
Thanks for that, i took a look at it in maplins today but i think ill stick to a second battery. but im sure people will be happy to read your review on the product so keep us updated on this product
Will do
OK, DOPOD adaotor tip arrived today.
Result: FAIL.
The text of the follow-up note to PowerTraveller Customer Services, sent this evening, is reproduced below, less the name of the Customer Services agent there.
Thanks for the DOPOD adaptor tip, which arrived today.
Unfortunately, it does not appear to solve the problem.
I connected the tip to the PowerMonkey Classic lead, and then plugged it into the ExtUSB connector socket on the HTC Touch Pro 2. I then moved the switch on the PowerMonkey Classic to "on". Again, the green light on the PowerMonkey Classic started to flash, but there was no noticable difference from using the normal USB adaptor tip; i.e., there was no amber charging light illuminated on the Touch Pro 2, and no charging icon was to be seen on the screen. I have to assume that there was therefore no charging current making it to my HTC Touch Pro 2.
The entire point of purchasing the PowerMonkey Classic was the be able to recharge my HTC Touch Pro 2 when I was away from other power sources, such as my home, my car, and other USB sources such as notebook PCs, when out and about conducting, for example, GPS-related activities, which are heavy on battery consumption. The advertising that I saw led me to believe that the PowerMonkey Classic *would* be the solution to my problem. Sadly, however, despite your attempt with the DOPOD adaptor tip, this does NOT appear to be the case, and I am VERY disappointed, as you can imagine.
It is remotely possible that your engineers have missed that on the Touch Pro 2, the connector on the bottom of the unit is NOT a standard USB connector, but HTCs proprietary ExtUSB format (which combines power, audio, and data feeds in one socket/plug format)?
Could you possibly check with the engineers, and ascertain if they have actually physically *tested* the DOPOD with the HTC Touch Pro 2, and, if so, how they managed to get the darn thing to accept charging current from the PowerMonkey Classic?
As it stands now, failing a working solution from your selves, I am the poud owner of the thirty quid high-tech paperweight, that is of zero use to me. I am due to see my partner (who lives 70-odd miles from me) soon, and we will test at that time whether the device works in charging a Motorola Razr.
If it does, then, short a working solution for my Touch Pro 2 being forthcoming from your company, I will give my partner the device. At least then, someone will profit from using the device. I however, will be back to square one, searching for an on-foot recharging solution for my phone.
Finaly, I would remind you that all the above fails to explain why I can get a ten quid self-reeling cigar lighter adaptor unit in my car, using what appears to be a standard USB connector, to successfully charge my Touch Pro 2. Naturally, I would be VERY interested in knowing why this succeeds, where the PowerMonkey Classic fails.
Sincerely,
Roger Stenning

As you can imagine, I am far from amused at this entire sorry bloody saga.
As always, I'll keep you all updated, should there be anything to report.
EDIT:
Almost forgot - confirmation USB source test result:
Almost forgot. I checked to see if the DOPOD tip worked with a purely USB-derived power source, so plugged the supplied self-reeling PowerMonkey adaptor cable into the tip, then into my computers' USB port, and connected the tip to the Touch pro 2. Surprise surprise, the amber light on the phone illuminated, and charging current was flowing into the Touch Pro 2.
The problem is therefore sqarely defined as being with the PowerMonkey itself, and NOT the adaptor tip.
Casting back to my original note, I have to assume that the PowerMonkey is NOT delivering a powerful enough charge, at 4.5 VDC, where USB specs clearly require 5 VDC. There is therefore a deficit of 0.5 VDC from the PowerMonkey Classic.
I will still check to see if this is successful in charging a Motorola RAZR or not, and will report back to you at that time.
Sincerely,
Roger Stenning

Hope so, I've just ordered
Update time.
PowerTraveller, manufacture of the Power Monkey Classic v1, have sent me a returns form in the email, and have told me that once I've returned it, they'll send a replacement after testing.
Looks like the postage is down to me, though
Roger, if it's any consolation, I've had to do the merry dance that you appear to be doing right now. I bought a v1 just over six months ago and went through the exact process you have described. Just the other day, I received a replacement unit that I'm testing now. My problem was that when my phone was 'next to' empty, I'd plug in the v1 and it would charge to about 50% before itself becoming empty. I know the v1 was full because I had charged it for hours and the LED was green. "Two fulls charges"? Pfffft.
I also got the load of old cobblers from Powermonkey about the USB tips too. How I should use a DOPOD tip instead of a USB one. When I questioned 'why?' I received a half mumbled reply about the tips being internally wired differently. The one that they promised to mail me never arrived so I bought one from the website, being only like £3. Did it make a difference? No.
I don't know how this replacement's going to work out but I have my doubts. Before buying the v1, I bought two other Powertraveller products, the Powerchimp device that runs off two rechargeable AA batteries. I gave up on both of them within a week because even with two fully charged AAs, it seemed to charge my phone for about 30 minutes before being in an empty state and when I looked at my phone (TytnII) it had maybe gained 10% charge. OK if you want to make say one emergency phonecall but useless if you need the equivelent of a fully charged spare battery (or two!!!).
I'm going to monitor how it works out and see if this replacement works and provides at least a full charge and a half. If it doesn't, well, although it'll work on some level, it just doesn't do what it's advertised to do which is very naughty (especially when you see them laud their product all over the internet/Twitter etc as the most amzing thing since bread that has been sliced
One day guys, once day I hope the world will see a truly reliable and consistant portable power supply. Maybe in a thousand years, even a reliable solar powered products?
hiya - thanks for the heads up. It's be damned nice to see a curcuit diagram of the thing, along with a specific list of components. They try that mumbling stuff with me, they may bite themselves somewhere embarrassing - I'm also a licenced Radio ham in the UK (G1LIW), and as some of you might know, we have to pass tests in the technical aspects of the radio hobby - which includes electronics
I'm damned if I know what the preventative difference between a DOPOD and a miniUSB tip, either, by the way, given that the ExtUSB used by HTC only adds maybe 7 contacts to the format while avoiding existing MiniUSB pin locations...
MiniUSB layout...
http://pinouts.ru/Slots/USB_pinout.shtml
ExtUSB layout...
http://pinouts.ru/PDA/htc_extusb_headset_pinout.shtml
The two are not, of course, interchangeable - while MiniUSB plugs will fit into ExtUSB sockets, the reverse is not true.
Anyhow, we will see.
Thanks again for the heads up
Quick test result update.
I let my TytnII (battery, 1350mAh?) drop to 30% battery and then plugged in my fully charged P M Classic. It charged back to 100% and the charge LED was still flashing green. I then plugged in my half empty old Motorola V3, it charged it for approx 30 minutes before flashing red and eventually stopping. 2200mAh!?!? capacity? I bet I didn't consume any more than about a 1000mAh and it was empty.
OK, it's new so this might go up a bit but it really doesn't bode well. OK, so maybe I'll get one full charge out of it but it's advertised as 2200 my phone is 1350, surely it should be up towards about two charges?
Bottom line is, it works but nowhere near as well as it's advertised to do.
OK, received the replacement PM (it's a version 2, not a version 1) in the mail today. They included another DOPOD adaptor tip, too. Guess they figured I'm a clumsy schmuk who may have lost the one they sent me the other week (nope, still got it)
Anyhow, Turning it on results in rapid green LED blinking, meaning they fully charged it before sending it to me. Which was nice of them
However, and interestingly, plugging in a charger to it does NOT result in any LED illuminating. Odd. have to follow that up later.
I'll let you all know how it behaves in charging my phone once I use it "in anger".
Be interested to see what you make of it's charge capacity...
Cured the inability to charge the PowerMonkey problem - it was a rather embarrassing user error - the plug wasn't correctly seated in the mains socket
Gonna let the phone drain a bit while I'm on holiday this week, and use the PM to charge it. It's a PMv2, not a PMv1, that they sent as a replacement, remember, so we will see if the thing behaves any better than your v1
Later
After a month or so of tests, I can say my version 2 is 'better' but it still doesn't delivery the one and a half charges it's supposed to. On average, I'd say it fully charges my TYTN2 once and is then empty.
I really can't be bothered to stress about it any more because I guess, one full charge is better than nothing but I think I'm justified in being a little irked that it doesn't do what it's advertised to do?
Conclusion: It works, it'll charge your phone to full from empty and is an alternative to buying a spare battery for your phone. It'll also charge everyone elses phone with the right adapter!

Any need for Accessories?

It's a perfect little phone, apart from a screen protector (of which there are more than a few 3.5 inch ones around) I can't think of a single extra I need this phone...
Or am I wrong?

A lot of people like to put it in a case of some sort. Nokia E71 stuff is often a good fit, until we get more choice in dedicated things.
Other accessories like car holders and chargers are also popular.
I cant believe we still dont have any "official cases".
I mean this phone sells like crazy and everyday we hear about one more country releasing it o.o
An infra-red remote control for the tv. I can control media from my pc via gmote, but if I switch to the tv I have to get up and use the remote
I've got an old windows pda with infra-red, maybe I can get that hooked up somehow
The Blade has recently been hacked to enable the USB host mode of the chipset, so there are many accessories that are now possible (with the right drivers, of course).
how about an extended battery?
I want a proper dock first, what can be connected to the PC/AC supply, and makes the device into a "display" mode, landscape, news and such things, weather, and wakes you up with a special tone telling the time, weather in english, etc. Like "Good morning, [google username here]! The time is [current time]. Weather around [your city here] is [weather of your city here]."

Yes, I want an upgrade for my battery. Battery Type: "Standard battery, Li-Ion 1250 mAh" is not enough for regular use.
i think that some TPU cases will do fine with this phone, could not find any yet
A fast search on eBay and you can find alot of cases for the blade now !
I use a silicon case to protect the unit from falls and also a holder on my mountain bike and car.An Android phone has great apps for gps use its a shame to not use them.

I have all the motorola photon accessories I bought them from sprint, and they are all fan freakin tastic, the docking station the car cradle and the motorola blue tooth keyboard, everything is from motorola. I have my photon set up to use as a web tv on my flatscreen its absolutely amazing, I am using it right now typing on the bluetooth keyboard, there are no downfalls to this surfing is fast and snappy but I will tell you this I have netflix also and I have to open the app from the phone and switch it to full screen because if you use the mozilla firefox web browser to go to the netflix site it won't register a an authorized device so open the app from the phone and switch to full screen I am fortunate enough to live in a great 4g coverage area and I have no lags whatsoever or buffering, and. Jsut so you know I am running the stock rom the only thing I did was root the photon for the free wifi, I have had my photon for about 2 weeks, since I broke my epic, and was a die hard epic fan now I have both I started a new line of service and it only cost me an extra 15dollars a month for 2 lines so I switch back and forth when the battery gets low and I don't want to wait I just grab the other phone and off I go, but I will tell you this that having the docking station and the keyboard I don't use my laptop as much anymore, I work in web based IT so I am always on the net and this setup does averything I need, I walk up to my next project pop out the kick stand and pull out the keyboard and off to work I go, its really simplified my life a whole lot I hardly ever use my epic anymore, but it was my favorite so I can't see myself giving it up. Well my friends as for the car dock its amazing once you put the photon in the car dock it turns into a gps automatically and it comes with all the wires you need if you want to hook it up to the auxhillary port (hmm don't think I spelled that right!!!) Then the main screen give you 4 slots to put whatever app you use most, I use my phone to listen to my music thru the car speakers so that's how I have mine set up, well that's the end of this long post I hope it was helpful, if so don't forget to hit the thanks button, Later!!!!!

Dock or no dock?

Currently I just have the tablet and have been thinking about buying the keyboard dock.
Is it worth $130? I currently have a laptop here at school, along with a desktop, and my tablet. My brother thinks it would be dumb to get the keyboard dock, because I would essentially have 3 computers.
Opinions?
I've heard people say that once you use the dock, you "almost" forget about using your other options. I just got my wife a TF101 and the dock for Valentine's Day and she doesn't want to use the tablet without the dock. I plan on picking up a dock for my Transformer soon because after playing with hers, I definitely need to have one. Hope that helps but at the end of the day, it's your decision and your wallet that's being affected.
I got both..
The question is
Is this replacing your laptop? If so i would say get a dock.. Its easier for me to type with the dock.. I only have it out the dock when going outside or gaming.
Other plus is the battery in the dock.
Just my 2cents.

i thought i will get the dock play with it for a week and leave and idont its one of the best buys i had and consider the fact that here is costs 250 us dollars
ifind the dock a very good replacement for my other 2 laptops first of all its quite smaller than a mini laptop so its great for me to carry around
second the battery is awesome im working with it almost every day all day and the battery never died
even when im browsing the internet listening to music and downloading torrents
the time here is 18:20 right now im using it since around 4:30 i have 74 battery on dock
also it supports a few games so it nice to play with it
there are also 2 usb ports for DOK or xbox controller or ps3 controller for gaming
even some 3g dongles are supported
i pesonally find the dock one of the best buys for me
now it up for you to decide
p.s sorry for writing too much lol
You can never have enough computers
I bought the dock three days ago and am very pleased with it.
Typing is faster than the onscreen keyboard and battery life has doubled.
I also use it as a stand, so I don't have to use a case as a stand.
not sure if this has been answered before but can the dock charge other thing through usb like say a phone
i had the tablet for about 3 months without the dock and loved it. I got it about 2 months ago and its awesome. great build quality, battery is great, you can plug just about anything usb into it, thumb/hard drives, wireless mice, etc.
you wont use your laptop except to burn dvd's.
Hell, its great even to have as a charging station, its so easy to take on and off.
If you've got the money to spend, you wont regret it.

yes, when the tablet is on the dock it will charge phones etc.
if you remove the tablet it becomes useless, except to charge itself.
I agree with the other posters; the dock rocks! I use my tablet pretty much exclusively with the dock. With it the Transformer can easily replace a laptop.
One advantage I haven't seen mentioned yet (at least in this thread) is the dock also protects the tablet's screen, when they are folded together.
Hermit, when the transformer is folded into the keyboard dock, is it secured by some mechanism?

its kinda like spring loaded. Its a very firm hold, it doesn't flap around or anything.
If thats what you mean,
if your talking about how the tf attaches to the dock, then there are two hooks on the dock that lock into the bottom of the tf. then you have to slide the switch over to get it out. again very secure and firm.
Get the dock! I bought tablet alone at first but after a two months I decided to get the dock - and it changed the whole game! More juice, easier typing when needed, usb ports, card reader, even (rom based) 3g dongle!
Deffinetely go for it!
BTW - since I got TF (and the dock later) I didn't touched my laptop more than few times!
Bought it yesterday and got it today (F'yeah Amazon Prime)
It's awesome! I don't know why I have a laptop now >_<
dock is really awesome
it looks and feels amazing with tab attached to it! and battery life is incredible
I have to agree with everyone's comments about the dock - and as to "replacing" or having an extra computer......I have a dual screen I7, TF101, a hand me down Toshiba Tecra running as a home server, and a now dead Asus Slate (still trying to fix).
I have a Dell Studio XPS laptop that always overheats and runs out of battery way too fast. It's great and all but not practical for school use. I don't get much time near a charger so it's annoying to lug around a dead laptop.
I bought the tf in my first semester of college and absolutely adored it. I used it for everything and used it all day to bring it home with still 60-70% charge. 6 months later I bought the dock and it's just the cherry on top. It works beautifully, it's small, it's fast, it does everything I need it to do (Web surfing, music, study, gaming) and last days without charging (Doesn't heat up at all, only a little tiny bit when charging)
My laptop now stays at home as my webserver as an alternative to buying another desktop.
It's all up to you if you're going to use it enough to pay the $130 for the dock.
I just got the dock yesterday and have to say, it is very nice indeed.. I have a question though.
How do the little doors/flaps hold up for the USB connectors? They seem a bit flimsy and I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with those?
Get the dock.
The Transformer is only as good as the other offerings (Xoom/Tab/iPad) without it. With it, it's the best tablet on the market bar none...
Sell one of your laptops to fund it
Just to echo what everyone else is saying,
When I first saw the TF at I think it was CES (or MWC) last year, I thought it was just another android tablet. Its got a keyboard? Great, iPad has stuff like that too, so whatever.
But then my friend got one in the summer AND IT FOLDS UP LIKE A LAPTOP?! Sold! AND ITS A BATTERY?! AND A TRACKPAD?! USB PORTS?!
Needless to say, I was incredulous. The keyboard I think is what sets it apart from everything else on the market (save the prime). You can have your galaxy tabs and your xooms and xyboards - have fun typing on them. Not to mention all the function keys along the top row with shortcuts for the browser, settings, volume, brightness, probably some other stuff.
And it probably wouldn't be the worst idea in the world to throw a sizable SD into the dock to supplement your storage.
I wouldn't wait a second to buy the dock. Best addition to a tab ever. So much easier to type and the screen is protected during travel. Only downside is the additional $$$ really.
The extra battery life alone makes the dock worth it. Since getting the dock, I've put my Macbook pro up for sale and am just using my tablet (use my media pc for everything else).
One thing I wish is that the trackpad worked more like a real mouse (ie. when you're trying to drag something on the screen (to select text or drag the screen of a flash window). Right now it just acts as though you are touching the screen with your finger. It's still a lot better though. I find myself using the touchscreen more than the trackpad though (unless I need to make more precise touches).
I have no regrets of getting the dock.
Be warned though, if you let the battery in the dock completely die, you will need to plug it into a 5V power adapter to get the tablet to communicate properly with the dock's battery (will show up as 0% even if it's fully charged). I just plug my USB cable into my USB-110V adapter for my blackberry for a few seconds and it's good to go again.

I purchased the Dock version 2 to use my new Rog 3 and have nothing but problems while docked. I only purchased to basically play games and had asus professional dock 1st. Worked 100% with Galaxy S9+ and Galaxytab S6. No matter what I tried wouldn't accept LAN cable signal or Video output at same time? I researched the Dock II a little and seemed like exactly what I needed but same issue and couldn't use my Asus zenscreen mb16ac period to play games. Would reboot game and send message to screen saying Dp ALT mode isn't supported by the device (phone desktop dock II) & go to asus.com to download display driver. Well the Dock II according to asus support site runs on chrome OS and is no drivers or anything available for download that chrome OS automatically updates. Display link app allowed me to to perform basic functions on the zenscreen with Dock II but not start online applications. Asus support people had no answers or solutions for Android OS to fix this problem even though it clearly states on Asus.com that Zenscreen MB16AC is fully compatible with Rog Phone 3 and it is just not with Dock II! I have since returned the Zenscreen MB16AC and Asus professional dock to get my my $400 back! I've had nothing but problems with Asus peripherals with Asus phone? I have cheap type c portable monitor that runs perfectly without the first driver or app and several other type c hubs and docks of various price ranges and features which all work 100% also. I am really disappointed in my experience with Asus as this is first few Asus products I've owned. I'm waiting to hear back from asus support to get solutions to Ethernet port and video output I'm conjunction with each other. As of now I use a Ethernet to USB 3.0 adapter plugged into Dock II and Display port to type c cable to play games with Display with a solid internet connection and have to use Flydigi Apex controller and application to use key mapping features!? Same things (actually more via Ethernet adapter) with my Samsung phone and tablet wtf!? I bought this basically to be a mini console for Android games and emulators as it's advertising to be with it's outrageously priced peripherals! Unfortunately none of it's came to fruition and I needed a new phone period or I would and still thinking about getting rid of this and buy a Galaxy note 20 which have same cpu/gpu and is in my past experiences with other devices Plug and Play with anything and everything! I am even more pissed about Kunai 3 gamepad? This thing is a mystery? I purchased one on Aliexpress 2 months ago and still not" in stock" and just got refunded. Purchased one 2 days ago from reputable seller on eBay that said had 2 of them and be delivered by Sept 16th and was told this morning that be at least another month before it's "in stock" and getting a refund. Asus website has no official release date or have it even listed as item for sale on their website where I bought Dock II and Zenscreen!? I want to be able to use key mapping built into the phone with Armoury crate/ Game genie which is main reason for buying the Rog Phone 3. Asus says it supports key mapping for the Kunai gamepad 1 and 2 but won't actually clip to the Phone as this one slightly bigger ?. If I'm going to spend $150 - $200 I want capability to use it in all configurations. So if anyone has a solution to my problems with Dock II and Ethernet and DP Alt like link to drivers or something PLEASE LMK! And anyone who is considering purchasing the Asus Rog Phone 3 do some research and with caution if you want it to play games with external display and use all it's key mapping with controller and keyboard and mouse features show up but don't use so haven't tested it as actually being functional. Says that a few 3rd party controllers are supported but defeats the purpose for me as the actual games recognizes the controllers and KB&M which ISN'T what I want. So I'm stuck using aggravating Panda keymapper which requires you to run ADB Debugging from a computer which randomly deactivates and has to be done upon every reboot of phone or cheap feeling Mobile controller like my Flydigi Apex with their keymapper app running in background eating up more ram and unreliable BT connection! So again if anyone has a solution and anyone has a answer about Kunai 3 and where to actually purchase now without paying $300 please comment or message me here I will dance at you wedding!

Good evening mate, I'm sorry for your bad experience. I'm using mobile Dock 3 with Rog XG17 external monitor, claymore keyboard glaudis mouse and delta headphones everything working good and completely plug and play. The only thing is that on heavy games the phone overheats (tonight I got 50°c on cod mobile max settings) and I can't turn off the phone monitor while I'm using external.

Hello mate, did you On the XMODE? bcoz you dont need to. XMODE is useless in gaming COD or PUBG bcoz our phone is already fast so you dont need to turn on XMODE i played with dock since my ROG 1 and XMODE OFF. Also i put a Mini Fan external usb FAN towards the Phone Screens. my average temp is 35 below.
Hello, does anyone knows if there is a way to use a not original docking station?
I purchased a baseus one on Ali express (founded cheap for 10€).
I knew that I couldn't use the original desktop mode, but I thought that I could use another app to have tesktop mode. I was wrong: connected to my TV in the living room, connected the power supply and when I insert the rogphone 3 on the port (doesn't matter if the lower one or the sided one) it just play the sound of the recognised peripherial and nothing more, it neither charge the battery.
Any suggestion?
Edit:
I'm just stupid: I wasn't using a charger with enough output
