Method to Downgrade to stock 1.15 from OTA to get S-Off - HTC Droid DNA

Unlock bootloader then flash this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141129
Then use facepalm S-off
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155069
Follow the steps correctly and you will be able to get S-off. I tried it and it worked for me on two devices
Credit goes to JoelZ9614 and beaups for their individual methods

Most people were rooted prior to the OTA but you can root the OTA. I know because I had to do it myself.

wait a minute... we can root with the 2.0 OTA????? What am I missing here?

You must have had an unlocked bootloader or something because this method does not work for people who took the OTA and weren't unlocked beforehand...

The thread name is kind if misleading. Most people on OTA have locked bootloaders and we can't unlock or root or s-off.

This thread is horribly misleading. If you recieved the phone on the ota or you updated your phone before you rooted it you are currently UNABLE to root your phone.

To the OP, it seems it would be wise to update the first post to address very valid member concerns. Would you take care of it please?
We definitely appreciate the discovery and willingness to share with the community, but we do want to prevent from the potential of causing problems to people's devices.
Thank you,

You would have had to unlocked your bootloader before you followed the guide you posted.

And I just realized that on top of this being misleading, it is pointless. You don't have to be on a pre ota rom to get s off. If you are unlocked then you can s off on the ota.

I'm sorry if this is misleading to some but as I stated in the OP I tried this one two devices (only one had an unlocked bootloader prior to attempting this) and a few other people that wanted to get S-off after receiving the OTA and it worked for them so any mis-information is unintentional

So you're claiming this works on a 2.xx droid DNA that had never been rooted or unlocked prior to this method?

My DNA was not rooted or had a prior unlocked bootloader at the time I took the OTA and I managed to unlock my bootloader, root then S-off and load Newt's Sense 5 ROM. I wouldn't have posted this thread if I didn't do it myself and that's why I sited the steps I used. The people that messaged me about it also tried it and it apparently worked for them prior to me making this thread.
I don't know what else to say unless you guys want screenshots..

We don't mean to be Debbie Downers, but there are just a few very knowledgeable devs working on getting the bootloader unlocked and have so far not managed to do that. What you claim to have done is what pretty much everybody is talking about on this forum and there's a bounty for it too.If you have anything showing you went from the latest 2.xx ota to fully unlocked we'd all give you hero status.

I'm not looking for hero status or any fanfare. I know what I did and wanted to help so I posted the steps that I followed to get unlocked because I didn't do anything special. I posted the method and the only way to prove it would be to get another DNA and do it again because posting a screenshot of my device now means nothing
If the steps I took helped others then I'm happy and if it doesn't then I'm sorry for unintentionally misleading some.
Before bashing or accusing me of trying to mislead I would suggest trying the steps I took because I have no reason to lie and didn't claim to do some masterful wizardry of hacking either

You are wrong about something here. You CANNOT unlock the bootloader of a phone that is on the ota and hasn't previously been unlocked. That is why there is a 500 dollar bounty for the person who finds the exploit that allows us to do that.

The step you listed is to unlock the bootloader. You provided no other info besides that. It is simply not possible to do that if you are on 2.04. If you did somehow manage to do that then explain it and go collect your 500 bucks.

Yes, s-off is achievable after root, unfortunately, there is no s-off exploit for the DNA yet. So no.
Awesome videos man! It really helps to see someone do it rather than just following a tutorial.
Also want to say jcase is an awesome guy! I ran into some trouble with the exploit but jcase jumped on team viewer and got me all straightened out.

Will flashing a different recovery risk bricking the phone if an OTA comes out? Or does doing this disable OTAs?

Warning: The New Verizon OTA has a bootloader in it.

Don't be shocked if you end up with a locked device.

It means Verizon made a patch so you can't use the unlock bootloader method from the last software version.
I wonder if this was to patch that exploit for the exynos processor reported a few weeks back. The side effect of course is a relocked bootloader. That's why I didn't understand why everyone was bringing so much attention to it. Let's pray that Adam can unlock this new bootloader.
The OTA is a side effect of a relocked bootloader, not the fix itself. The original exploit didn't use the Exynos exploit, so I doubt it matters, UNLESS the new bootloader in the OTA has closed the original unlock method.
The exploit needed to be patched. Wayyy too easy for malware to exploit it and screw you.

What if we use insurance to replace our phones and we get one with this locked bootloader? Or what about people buying new phones? My wife's iPhone 4 was actually more valuable with iOS 5 than iOS 6. The iSheep still do not have a jailbreak for iOS 6.

Reverting back to stock is so easy....all you need to do is odin flashing stock tar file....which will relock and unroot your phone with working OTA update. And I was referred to current rooted rom users. I don't think they need to be re-unlocked nor re-rooted. Flashing another updated rom and kernel will pretty much take care of everything. Besides, adrenalyne already has bootloader safe OTA update working......so there is no point of worrying. However, if someone is planning to buy a new phone and needs his or her phone updated, then yes.

Fixes the exynos exploit, locks the bootloader, and updates the radio. Possibly some other minor patches looking at the patch file sizes.
Stay away from the ota unless you use the safe one I created in another thread. Ignore AdamOutler's comment in this thread as it turned out to be wrong and people got locked up in the process.

Depends on the kernel. I couldn't tell you with third party kernels, but the latest stock one from the ota closes the exploit and is safe to flash.

[Q] Post DNA OTA bootloader unlock

Morning all! Sorry this is my first post, so I had to put in in general here, but I just got my DNA yesterday and I was unable to stop the OTA, I have tried to use the SuperCID unlock and whenever I try to do anything with ADB i get "Access is denied." I assume the OTA has cause the current version 2 of the SuperCID to not work? Or am I just making a newb mistake and not doing something right? Thanks for any feedback!

Just got my phone back from the JTAG service and this was the exact procedure. Flashed the ENG boot and then flashed recovery. Bootloader still says 'LOCKED' but allowed me to flash.
I've JTAGG'd 18 DNA devices so far on the OTA update (I do this on the downlow due to specific "developer" who can't understand how to get all phones to take the RIFF JTAG flash software.
Flash ENG Hboot if you want the options available to it, though not mandatory. Install a root program (SuperSU is my recommendation), then flash a recovery.
Immediately backup your current setup, then go for any ROM you see fit. Profit.

Root with OTA 2.04.605.2 710 RD

I have a DNA, which I use as my second phone. I was messing around with it and I somehow re-locked the bootloader and turned S-On on. I still have root access, verified with root checker from Play Store. I can't remember exactly what I did when I got the phone... I had S-Off, unlocked bootloader, and root and was running Cryo for Droid v1.1.3. I tried updating to v1.2 and wifi wouldn't enable. I tried re-flashing the radio, but it wouldn't flash. That's when I started messing with it. As of right now, I am on 2.04xxx, running Cryo v.1.2 with root access, but bootloader is locked and S-On. Also, there is no custom recovery. No matter if I try installing TWRP or CWM. Whenever I try to boot into recovery red triangle with red exclamation point. If anyone knows a way to get me back on track I'd greatly appreciate it. Hopefully, they come out with 2.04xxx RUU.

Sorry. Okay, how do I move it there??? If I even can, or do I start a new thread???
You should be able to re-use the unlock.bin code you got from HTC-dev.com and unlock the bootloader again.
Is it me or does the title of this thread in the development section make you want to punch him in the face?

I tried that. I go through the process and choose to unlock on phone, but after when I check it says it is still relocked.

Its ok they should know better than that. Glad ya got it unlocked though. Feel free to PM me if you have any more problems or use the FAQ thread. We all started somewhere and you learned where questions go at least.

Thanks... It is weird. I got the bootloader re-unlocked and S-Off. I had been trying the same things and then yesterday I tried unlocking and S-Off and it worked. I haven't used my DNA is a couple of months. I don't know much about the DNA, my usual phone is a GSIII, which to me is a bit easier to mod. I'll be donating...
