National Geographic on HD+ - Nook HD, HD+ Themes and Apps

Am using cm-10-20130220-UNOFFICIAL-ovation on HD+. I downloaded the Amazon Appstore and used that to download the NG app. The magazines via the NG app at the Amazon appstore are free for print subscribers unlike the NG magazines available through Nook for Android app. The app is obviously meant for Kindle Fire but I was hoping that it would work on the HD+. Using the app, am able to sign in and download the magazines just fine, unfortunately the app crashes once the download is complete. Anyone have better luck with it? Thanks.

Exception logs
I checked the logs and the failure is: java.lang.SecurityException: No permission to prevent power key: Neither user 10076 nor current process has android.permission.PREVENT_POWER_KEY.
Any idea how to work around this issue? Thx.

Switched to stock 2.1 ROM and the magazine loads fine now. Unfortunately it fills only a small part of the screen in the center. Is there a way to mimic a Kindle Fire HD 8.9 with the stock ROM? Thx.

Have you tried using the Amazon Kindle application?
Since Barnes and Noble opened up their HD's and HD+'s to the Google Play Store I have found some interesting apps. One that I thought was cute was the Amazon Kindle app on the Google Play Store. With this you can download from the Amazon Store etc. Only disadvantage I guess is that you would have to use the Amazon Kindle App to read the NG.

If it will help with improvements of my tablet... sure.
Guys we can link it to sony dev workers if you dont want to post your apps you may only answer that questions and antutu. Be precize and try to use synthetic language. Zer0k posts were perused by sony developers. Not confirmed yet but one off the apps that i disabled in screenshot is causing shutdowns.
I'm testing now with all these disabled except adobe flash player and having these sony apps disabled.
when i re enabled them i had a shutdown right away within 10-20 minuts maybe coincidence but i had uptime off 14 hours without shutdowns, during this time if played files from my network through streaming from my nas, from youtube and 1 hour through browser.
if its indeed sony app causing it then tablet z will have similar issues probably with same app enabled.
edit: 1 hour stable with sony apps disabled, and adobe flash enabled so far.
edit: even with adobe flash player enabled and sony apps disabled got shutdown took little longer and got corrupted videoplayback for long time switching from player to player did't matter had corruption in every video player.
So testing further with these apps off again for least 3 day's now to confirm these apps have problems on this tablet.

Hey guys try this browser>>>>>https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.compal.android.browser&hl=en
it has solved all my browser issues...also it is extremely fast and smooth and gave the highest benchmark score:good::good::good:
updated main post disabling those apps might fix shutdown issues and playback issues.
adobe flash causes corruption and shutdowns
sony movies app and components causes shutdowns.
don't known if those other 2 service are causing problems asswell did't test yet, to soon to say if disabling those apps fixes this issue.

uhmm.. to soon to say, but i'll try it right now.. i'll back to you! :good:
EDIT: I just tried play a simple video with movies app and MX player (with hardware decoder on), and another video with youtube.. all working just fine.. then, now that i know everything is working, i'm ready to test.. i go to setting->apps and i disable all the all that you recommend to disable in your first post.. and I play around with youtube to get the playback issue and the shutdown.. i get the playback issue in 2minutes with youtube and mx player.. so the first thing that i do is, go to settings and enableJUST Adobe Flash and then i go to chrome and open a SWF file, works great! so I try a video with MX player .. nothing, still with playback issues (blackscreen and some artifacts).. i tried with youtube.. same thing, artifacts all over the video! so, i go again to MX player.. i disable Hardware Decoder and enable force Software decoder and i tried again.. now my video is playing without problems..
disabling those apps reduces the shutdowns, i ran chrome tough and got a shutdown few mins later right after, so maybe if want to reduce shutdown rate use quick ics browser with those apps disabled for best luck.
does't fix it tough if you run the wrong browser it causes issues.
Can anyone that has this issue describe what happends every time before a shutdown like from 10 minuts back untill shutdown ?
PeterT from sony forums has't been able to reproduce issue so far.

are you still having issues with mx player got an update today that fixes nvidia tegra3 hw+ issues i use hw+ btw
edit: figured how to check logs
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xtralogic.android.logcollector lets you send these logs anyway you want like by mail i just send my self the log tough.
i notice demuxer has lot errors for me i known demuxer = video codec probably if this thing is't stable it would't suprise me if this is actual cause off shutdowns heck why its in every video player.

now if next time i have shutdown i just write down the time just send my self log and check what errors i get around that period, i just wonder if log will stay saved from that period if tablet shuts down.
Just thought about it when i see video corruption i just copy log asap to check log.
edit: demuxer is bassicly splitting streaming data into chunks bassicly does this for anything.
If its a file it do that.
Sony bassicly has to fix the demuxer.
video's are often large files also so its more likely to happen when it read large file so not just video's.
My tablet just had this issue again with corrupt video playback. and shutdown on 6:12 when i tryit to send large log by mail.
on reboot i got this part off log.

It might even just be filesystem problem if no idea if their posibility to check this for errors on android.
could check filesystem on my tablet for errors if i could let my pc see my tablet as a storage instead off a device no idea if their apps to check for filesystem errors.
Also already have my theory on how demuxer causes issues what causes to go demuxer go all weird if got no idea wifi issues perhaps that can't be fixed by advanced wifi lock in every case.
anyway lets asume video loads demuxers purpose is to split it in different chunks off data, lets asume it crash freeze half way.
video play's fine half way through we get video corruption like seen in video if posted some time ago http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-XluKRvNa8
this will contineu bassicly untill demuxer managed to unfreeze or restart or whatever, lets then consider that anyone will just try to restart the video and demuxer is still frozen or crashed and won't restart.
people start video player try open file, demuxer supose to get data now but its frozen crashed not their it will freeze for few momments then due timeout setting that sony put in the xperia tablet s it will shutdown, incase off the tablet s1 it will stay frozen either for like 30-60 sec or permanently.
and i guess this is the cycle thats happening.
i'm already quite sure that this is the cause off these freezes and shutdowns and other people's logs might just proof that, i just hope sony can fix this issue with this info verry soonish.
anyway disabling movies and adobe flash probably helped free up a lot, if set app limit to 2 proceses atm and animations off strict mode enabled.
Tablet is probably made such way that streamed data is't being saved into ram causing lot slow downs.......
Actualy tablet supose to work like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dZsS-C6f2Q

In a few days, you just might have figured out what Sony apparently haven't been able to do in several months.. Any way you can submit your findings/theories to their developer team? They probably could use your help.
The problem is i have no contact with them the one i'm contacting atm on forums not sure if he gonna take my findings seriously.
the one by mail if not heared back from either yet.
they could likely rollout a update 4.0.3 (release7a) this week with this info or perhaps demuxer is part off an app that can be updated through android store.
i was seriously like wtf i just send my self log search notepad by error see demuxer having lot issues was't expecting to find cause so easy then got shutdown went to timestamp found same error again with some hints off h264 codec and clipboard being used.
I got more theories also that the xperia tablet s is't making use off its quadcore at all to speedup launching programs and rending.
If you launch maps app rendering is slow if you launch stock browser app rendering while loading page can be slow.
this is supose to be fast, maybe thats what they got issues with asswell getting jelly bean to run smooth, ofc could be wrong cpu usage monitor is barely readable all it shows is 3 core's nvidia tegra 3 has 4 core's + companion core.
Maybe the demuxer is being bottlenecked cous apps aren't optimised for quadcore usage at all except during games.
decided to give advanced wifi lock a try again today, so far seems to keep wifi enabled if i use my 5G network which did't try before not sure if they updated the app now to make it work.
damn tough in 1 hour idle my tablet drains like nearly 20% batery.
i also believe used tablet a whole day without using video's at all gonna take look at log now to see if it effects errors somewhat.
edit: just 1 demuxer error.

Probably mate thats preventing tablet to go into deep sleep thats why you are getting that battery issues now which its not a solution.
@ my opinion Sony must unlock us the device so we will use custom roms , they will gain time and nobody will rush them.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xtralogic.android.logcollector lets you send these logs anyway you want like by mail i just send my self the log tough.
i notice demuxer has lot errors for me i known demuxer = video codec probably if this thing is't stable it would't suprise me if this is actual cause off shutdowns heck why its in every video player.

My tablet just had this issue again with corrupt video playback. and shutdown on 6:12 when i tryit to send large log by mail.
on reboot i got this part off log.

just pick out a sample out off the log that has lot demuxer errors.
nvm: for some reason log is only 1 hour long.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.infolife.cache
Lets you clear cache off every single app in one go can be setup to do this every now then also if you desire like every hour 2 3 4 5 6 7 8+ hours.
decided to tweak my wifi asswell trying short preamble for a change with 5 ghz i think faster internet speeds benefits demuxer more as it might crash less likely.
playing video's till the end all the time also helps confirm demuxer did't crash if it corrupts it crashed time to restart the tablet it will crash anyway otherwise.
noticed now that if you use 5G then wifi policy settings regardless what you set is being ignored will just stay disabled the momment screen go's off.
advanced wifi lock fixes that tough, with a 2.4g network those settings work partly wifi can still disconnect at times but will just reconnect.

Greenify v2.6 beta 11 is rolling out (in beta channel)

After a vast underlying rebuilding in the past months, Greenify is now running on a powerful new engine. Its potential is yet to be fully developed, but at the stage today, the benefit is already notable.
The experimental feature "Wake-up Tracker and Cutoff" now works without Xposed framework (and activated always). Consider its importance in Greenify, this will answer the most asked question "Why the greenified app is woken again?" for much more users.
Since rovo89 finally released the alpha version of its magic Xposed framework on Android 5.0. Greenify is proud to bring all its Xposed-based features to Android 5.0 users. Enjoy the full power of Greenify~ :fingers-crossed:
Although I have adopted more and more features to users without Xposed, the power of Xposed framework is still hard to replace. As promised and practiced before, popular experimental features will graduate from donation package. At this time, they're:
> Timer Coalescing (more details explained here: https://plus.google.com/112105199234363320140/posts/iYMqRMjXKLb)
> Telephony Wake-up: Allow telephony events (such as SMS and phone call) to wake up hibernated apps.
Now it's time for a gift to you supporters with donation package. Let me introduce the new experimental feature "Deep Hibernation"!
Tired of apps waking up each other just for trivial functions, but slow down the whole phone? It comes to the rescue. Activate this feature and enjoy a much more peaceful hibernation. Be aware, this also cut-off most bonds between apps, as if they couldn't see each other on your phone. As always, apps restore to full functionality (including its providing bonds) once awake.
Even without donation package, you could still reach similar effects with the "Wake-up Cutoff" feature without Xposed for select apps (on Android 4.3+ at present, and will be broaden to older Android versions in future release).
BE WARNED, THIS IS AN EARLY BETA VERSION, WHICH MAY (AND LIKELY) CONTAIN BUGS AND STABILITY ISSUES. Please help me improve it by reporting back in this thread.
Known issues:
Some wake-up paths are still not yet covered in the new "Wake-up Tracker & Cutoff" and "Deep Hibernation" feature, including "content provider" (a background data sharing mechanism in Android) and Location update (will be covered in future beta).

Sorry to be inactive on XDA for a while during the hard development of new version of Greenify and preparing the Chinese new year (similar to Christmas in western world). With the release of first beta, I'm listening to all your feedback here now.
Installed I got some problem receiving push for Whatsapp
---------- Post added at 10:20 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:20 AM ----------
With xposed and all feature enabled
---------- Post added at 11:20 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:20 AM ----------
And also other apps
I can confirm that. Just tried with my mothers phone. No notifications from fb messenger nor viber.
Hot reboot, when GCM push is received (only when "GCM push for greenified apps" is checked). Same is the case with earlier stable version 2.5.2

I'm afraid it's not the relevant exception logcat. I'm looking into the GCM issue right now and doing more tests.
UPDATE: Issue confirmed. Working on a fix.
UPDATE2: The GCM Wake-up is conflicting with Deep Hibernation in current implementation. Please try disabling Deep Hibernation to see if it solves this issue.

Tried turning off 'Deep Hibernation' and enabling 'GCM wakeup'. Still the same issue. Hot reboot with same error.
Let me know how can I provide you relevant logs. I don't see any problems in the xposed log.
Just to clarify, this is the same problem I am facing with the current stable version 2.5.2. So, I am not sure if this could be related to your new feature 'Deep Hibernate'.

Please keep the phone in peach for a while and trigger a GCM push, capture the full logcat around the moment. I'd suggest "AutoRemote" for easy GCM testing.
Meanwhile, I could reproduce the issue (may not be the same one) in my test device. Need some more time to work out a fix.

Took some time to get setup for AutoRemote. But finally, here are the logs when the device hot reboots after the GCM push arrives.

Wake up cut off issue
@oasisfeng
Running the beta on my phone. Greenifying sys apps enabled. The wake up cut off works differently now.
1. It does not show the particular app which is waking up another. It simply shows the scissors icon. If the scissors icon is touched, it cuts off all the wake up paths of the app and not the particular one which woke it up at that instant.
2. Likewise, while re-attaching the wake up paths, no options are given to re-attach a particular path. It re-attaches every wake up path.
I don't know if this is the intended behavior but on all earlier versions, I had both these options.
3. The scissors icon, though shown, doesn't work when touched for some apps (for instance for Download Manager and GSF - see attached screen shot)
I'm missing Wake-up Tracker and Cutoff option under experimental features. I have donation package also.
Even with Deep Hibernation unchecked, I still cannot get GCM to work under normal hibernation.

Thanks for your detailed video and screenshot.
1. In some cases, like "content provided", the current implementation could not yet analyze the wake-up source. And it is also unable to cut-off these types at present. I'm still seeking for a proper solution for it under the new engine.
2. The new cut-off and re-attach feature work on a whole per-app basis, to reduce the complexity many average users were facing with the old one. Please provide your feedback if you think this is not an ideal way.
3. It's mainly due to the reason mentioned in above 1. The case of Google+ seems different, I'll look into it and further test it out.
BTW, it's not advised to greenify core Android system components, like Calendar Storage, Download Manager, Media Storage. They're not causing memory or battery issues on most devices. It's also not recommended to greenify Google Play services, since it may break many features provided by Google ,like GCM push and Location service.

The last para of your reply - is why I am asking for the cut off feature to show the actual path - so that we can decide whether I need to cut it off and whether it is safe.
I don't greenify Download Manager or GSF. I mentioned them as examples.
But I do greenify Play Services depending on which app woke it up. In the present scenario, that option is not available and greenifying Play Store will make me lose all of its functionality. There are other apps also in this category.
So my vote is for having the earlier functionality of the wake up cut off feature, provided it is possible and will not cause too much effort on your part. I can manage with the earlier version, no problem.
The only reason I updated to the beta is for the Deep Hibernation since I don't intend to switch to Lollipop and am happy with the present setup with Gravity Box, Greenify, Amplify etc.

whatsapp crashing

This morning, whatsapp suddenly started crashing, and in the log I found the following error message:
09-15 07:17:09.827 7242 7392 E AndroidRuntime: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Jid [email protected] is not fully qualified; should end with @s.whatsapp.net
I must confess I have no idea what a Jid is. Obviously it is missing one letter (ne instead of net), but why is that, and more importantly, what can I do about it?
So my son has now deleted all data and restarted from scratch, after which whatsapp resumes functioning. But I would have rather found out what this is. Strange that I haven't found the answer anywhere on the net

Yeah, reinstalling apps or deleting cache/data is the best solution for these kind of errors. I believe something went wrong while you were installing/updating the app and some files has broken. Sometimes these errors can happen because of other applications too.

Android apps are getting laggy and frozing. (Gapps mostly)

Recently all of a sudden this problem began to occur. Especially facing this issue on gmail and youtube and rarely other apps. Whenever i am opening an email with attachments and try to scroll it freezes and restarts. Same issue happens with Youtube when scrolling through comments. Tried clearing the cache etc. but nothing helped.
This is one of the last one and it's log. Sometimes it's something like "java out of memory" or something like " anr input dispatching timed out". My phone is completely useless like this and i am desperate, any help would be appreciated. Xiaomi Mi Max 2 64GB, stock firmware, everything is up to date.

Hi, hope it's the right forum to ask this question. Since couple weeks I have a problem where on random occasion Google Play store page of a specific and single application (Trigger - Task Launcher) opens. That happens after rebooting my phone, after screen unlock, web browsing, out of the blue it just opens.
I was able to find the activity in the logcat:
Code:
12-17 11:48:21.802 3645 5009 I ActivityManager: START u0 {act=android.intent.action.VIEW dat=market://details?id=com.jwsoft.nfcactionlauncher cmp=com.android.vending/com.google.android.finsky.activities.MarketDeepLinkHandlerActivity} from uid 1027
How do I find out what is causing this to happen?
