[Q] Need help with 7" Kfire HD bootloader - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm new to this so not sure if i'm going about it the right way but here goes.....
I have a rooted kindle fire HD 7" using Apex Launcher and would like to bypass the bootloader so i can take more control of my device.
I have read through the steps on how to do this quite a few times but before i take the leap and do it, i was wondering if there is a simple (noob) version for it??
Or even better, without trying to come across as being lazy, an automated service that did it all for me??
Thanks in advance for any help/tips/advice.

Browse around in the device's section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1306. The "Sticky" threads should be quite helpful.
I was able to flash and install ics. everything works just great! But it seems that I have an issue: When I leave my kindle alone for some time, sometimes it just doesn't want to unlock. I am trying to push the power button and nothing happens. After some time it starts to work again. What could be the cause of this/ how could I fix this?

What can be done to a 4th generation Kindle Fire HDX 8.9"?

Hi everybody.
I just ordered a new Kindle Fire HDX 8.9"
It's just for testing, im 100% sure i will return it back to Amazon as soon as I've learned whats FireOS and what can be done.
I'm saying this because I've read some forums and i think i know some things, but not everything.
I've read I need to know things like firmware version of the tablet, Software version before doing anything risky.
My objective is realise if this tablet can be a great deal for me. For instance, I NEED YOUTUBE. I've read and watch some videos and it's not complicated. great.
But... What about alternative markets? or Google Play itself? Launchers? any Pure Android ROM?
I've seen root can be easily done (as far as i've understood) with TowelRoot, wich, i understand, is a reversible thing (superSU app, unroot)
What else can I say? Im not expert, but I'm not dumb. if you guys want me to check a step by step guide, I can do it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Best regards.
Depending on version, all of that can be done. However, with the newest builds of the software, all that you can do is install gapps (minus working play store), aftermarket store, and alternate launcher.

At the current OS level you don't have a lot of choices. Best option IMO is to have Amazon downgrade to 14.3.2.8 which will allow you to obtain root. From there you can install Safestrap and the Nexus ROM. Or simply enjoy the device as-is until additional customization options become available. Don't bother with a downgrade if you are planning to return.
If you want to learn more you'll have to do some reading. Things like "where can I find the hardware version" suggest you are just getting started. We have all been there and many people are willing to help but you've got to do some basic homework first. The various threads in this forum are an excellent resource.
you can try to unlock it. I think bootloader is still vulnerable to unlock.
fastboot oem unlock <unlock.img>
follow instruction on orig development. I don't know if it trigger tampered flag... try at your own risk.
once unlocked you can prepare a pre-rooted/ota disabled image
I have an HDX 8.9 arriving on Monday and after lots of reading it looks like theres no root or downgrading...Am I reading this right? Gosh, I hope I missed something. Lots happening on thor but not so much apollo...
Seriously, most of the posts are aimed at the 7 inch...

Depends what version it's on. If 4.5.2 or below you can at least root (with varying degrees of effort); if below 3.2.7 you can unlock the bootloader which opens up many other opportunities including a real recovery and different ROMS. Alternative ROMS are also available on 3.27->3.28 but require Safestrap. As you said, lots going on. This post will likely be obsolete in a few weeks. Might be now ...

Devs tend to focus on one device (most likely the one they have!) then adapt for other variants with the help of others. The most recent developments seem to be happening on Apollo. Keep watching the forums; I'm sure whatever you are looking for will show up eventually.
Keep in mind the HDX is not like most other android devices. It's difficult to tame and easy to brick. That said, it's a wonderful hunk of hardware worthy of your time/effort if you want to go beyond stock.
I have a Kindle HDX 8.9 Apollo. I used Kingroot to root my device. then used xposed installer with HDXposed module and installed Google Play Store. I have to reinstall Play Store after installing andopening an app in the Play Store. first install your apps do not open them or you will have to uninstall and reinstall the Play Store. good luck. hoping there is a way to unlock the bootloader soon. looking forward to putting a real ROM on this great device.

As I recall you are running FireOS 14.4.5.3. A quick search of Amazon reviews shows only few comments regarding SMS capability...all negative. I am not sure FireOS was designed to work as a SMS/MMS end point. Only speculating; hope I'm wrong.
Saturn can be used with Safestrap now?

Ah. I misread that then

Is there an ultimate step-by-step to root & get GAPPs working for the Fire HD 6?

Is the knowledge of the Kindle Fire HD 6 to a point where it is a turnkey process? I've browsed through all of the threads and it seems like if you pieced them all together properly, you'd be able to go from "out of the box" to a working Kindle with Google Play. That's my goal. I know there's always a risk, and I'm good with that. But I'm wanting to get this going in the next 45 days for a gift for someone.
Kindle Fire HD 6
4.5.4 (It updated by itself--I've disabled OTA since then with Debloater)
ADB and Fastboot installed
Computer communicating with the Kindle a-okay
I apologize if this is considered a duplicate post. I've looked all over this forum and done a lot of research on it. It just seems that if everything was pulled together just right, all of the steps are there.
Thanks!

Sure, you have all the steps in here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-hd/general/root-v2-0-fireos-4-5-4-gapps-t3150613
With 4.5.4, it won't be as easy, since you'll have to go 5.2.0 first, and then back to 4.5.3
In the process, you may have to learn more Android than you ever wanted

LOL . . . well, yes, you can go from out-of-the-box to OS 4.5.4 rooted with fully working Gapps. I would hardly call it turnkey, though.
The Fire HDs were rooted only 2 months ago. A lot has been accomplished. Because different people work on different aspects of development and learning about the device, and often leave after accomplishing what they set out to do, information is necessarily scattered. As a tech writer I'd like nothing more than to see a definitive guide to rooting this device. Pulling together such a guide would involve stepping on toes, however, rewriting other people's work. And the guide would be outdated almost immediately because every week we learn something new. If you're a knowledgeable modder, perhaps you could participate and contribute for awhile.
I think this is what you're looking for: http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-hd/general/root-v2-0-fireos-4-5-4-gapps-t3150613
Note and tip: Rooting a Fire HD and installing everything you need is not straight-forward. If you lose the device at sideload during the upgrade/downgrade process, look at post #50.
Thank you @bibikalka and @DoLooper. I'll inspect this thread more closely. When I'm comfortable with it, I'll take the dive.
On another note, I have another Kindle Fire HD 6 still unopened. Does anyone need a clean "image" of it or anything else you can only get from a brand new device? I'm sure it's going to be on 4.5.3. Please provide me with instructions if there is anything you do need. Thanks!

There are numerous posts outlining the process. Look around until you find one that you like. Ask questions if unsure on details. Not exceptionally difficult but easy to brick your device if you take short cuts.
No, there's not a step-by-step guide, videos, etc. although some contributor posts get pretty close.

Help with Kindle Fire 7 stuck on language page while reseting

Hello everyone i hope someone can help me as I am an absolute novice at this
I rooted my Kindle Fire HD 4 4th Gen using Kingroot app and it was successful. I had some problems and decided to do a hard rest and it has hit some problems. It went through the process of reseting but it keeps prompting me to choose a language even though i have already chosen one it will just keep going back to that screen. Now i cannot proceed to use my tablet at all. Can someone help me out with my predicament? I would really appreciate it,
If you are able to give instructions please bear in mind I am a novice at this
many thanks

Bad move. Factory resetting a rooted HDX (especially on FireOS 4.5.5.1) often leads to the problem you are experiencing. Related thread here. Not a proven solution but steps to consider. If the device is still under warranty consider contacting Amazon for a courtesy exchange.
