returning to stock over different Kernel? [SOLVED] - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently running Avatar JB ROM (best thing ever!) on my i900p with no problems, but this morning I cracked the screen so it's going back to Orange and I need to return to stock.
My question is can I just flash the stock Orange ROM over the top via ODIN or do I need to flash a different kernel too? I read something about ICS/JB kernels not mixing and the stock Orange is ICS.
Thank you

No need to flash a different kernel. Just flash stock ROM via Odin. You may do a factory reset before flashing also.

Will removing the ROM make my phone faster?

Hello,
I have Omega v19.1 ROM right now and it feels like my phone is slow and tired. Will removing the ROM or go back to normal like it was when I bought it make it faster/clean it?
If so, is there a guide here on how I can do that?
Thanks in advance!

What do u mean by 'removing the ROM' and 'going back to normal'?
Do you want to return to stock? Or to ur previous ROM? Or do u want to remove bloatware??

Its really easy.
Just search for 'Stock Firmwares' and u will find many threads on XDA. Or u can visit sammobile.com.and choose an appropriate firmware. Then download it.
Flashing is a bit more advanced. I suggest you read about Odin and flashing stock roms.

Going back to stock should make your phone a lot worse/slower.
Thats how you root and stick on a custom kernel at the very least.....to remove crap that you couldnt do normally.
Like theunderling said, stock firmwares do contain bloatwares. Since ur on Omega v19, why not update to Omega v21 (preferably after a full wipe)? Maybe that would speed up ur phone...

[SOLVED]Cant get into recovery, i9100 stuck on galaxy Logo

HI,
Galaxy s2 i9100, stuck on "Samsung galaxy S II gt-i9100" screen, unable to get into recovery.
The problem occurred after updating CWM recovery from rom manager.
What can I do?
Should i try flash stock rom via Odin? Download mod still reachable.
Or should i try flash recovery?
comming from wanam 14.1.
any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Which version of Android is Wanam 14?
Since u cannot enter recovery, flash via Odin is ur only option. I don't think flashing a recovery would help..
I have heard many people warn against using ROM Manager with i9100.

Bootloop now. ALl I get is the operator logo then the big S screen.
Trouble is being partially sighted going through all the threads and finding out whats the 'latest' method is now a hard task
I'm trying to find a working CM 9 now to use with ODIN as I can get it to download mode.
Just trying this now

The- Make sure you're running ICS bootloaders lower than LPH: part which seems to have got me to a recovery screen

Search for 'Philz kernel'.
In the thread you find, look for the XWLSD zip version.
Save it to ur external SD card.

Flashing via Odin can fail due to a number of reasons, which is why I always suggest Mobile Odin for flashing and stock recovery for rooting.

Sometimes bootloops

Hi,
Sometimes I have bootloops after rebooting the device. It even happens when I try to reboot to recovery mode.
So what I do after getting this is take out the battery, wait like 10 seconds and then return it.
After that it is just fine.
How can I solve this?
More details first.
Which device and variant?
Which rom and/or kernel?
Rooted or not?

Must be a bug with the rom..
Why not check if any others have similar issues?
To sort it out, try:
1. Different kernel
2. Doing a wipe cache and dalvik cache
3. Doing a full wipe
4. Doing a re-flash of Jellybam
5. Restore to stock
