look at the spec and price (we can't know as it varies from country to country). I'm sure you can decide on yourself.

yeah s2 looks better but what about resolution and battery of s2

one thing for sure s2 have plenty of custom rom
Sent from my LG-P769 using Tapatalk 2

I would take S2. AMOLED is superb IMO even with lower res (but it's lower screen size). Exynos it's second to nothing if it's responsiveness and smoothness of interface. Lots of custom roms and bigger community is another upside. L9 is good phone and 4,7 inch screen do its work when browsing web and gaming, also it's smooth as butter and battery is quite good. S2 still have samsung support and it will receive 4.2 update with new touchwiz and we all know how LG is with updates. So, it probably comes to decide how big your phone can be and how much can you pay. You know full well when you have your L9 in your pocket. S2 maybe not so smaller in numbers, but if you take both in hands, difference in size and feel is more than noticeable. Tough choice. Look at the price. I don't think S2 is worth more than 70-80$ more than L9. If you can take it in the same price, for me decision could be only one -S2

Hi after owning both I would say that the S2 wins my vote. Keep in mind that I have the p769 L9. The L9 is only superior in the battery & GPS department IMO, ROMs and amoled screen is just hard to beat.

[Q] Should I buy Optimus One P500

Hello friends!
I have to buy a new phone with Android 2.2. I saw this phone and found it to be pretty reasonable. Problem is that none of the dealers here are ready to give a demo of the phone and I dont know how does the display looks, the quality of the touch screen and the speed of the phone.
I had been using Samsung Galaxy 3 before this and got really pissed off with its speed, although the touch screen and the screen colors were very good.
Can anyone tell me how does the phone behave. Moreover, some one told me that the touch screen of this phone doesnt behave like the Samsung phones. Unlike Samsung touch screen in which we just need to give a slight touch for the phone to react, in this phone we have to press slightly. Is it true?
Please help.

Yea its a liitle bit true about touch but with me it happned only in apps when i tried to make my fingers fly over the phone.
A little advice buy lg optimus Q becasue its better!
Why don't you watch review videos on YouTube to get an idea of the device? Optimus One is my first Android phone, and I really love it. Have had it for about a month now, but still can't stop showing people what it can do, and playing with it all the time till the battery drains out LOL. For the price, it's a really good device, compared to others like xperia, or htc (from the same price range).

How much will Optimus Q cost in India???
How about browsing your local stores mate?
There are some slight issues with O1 , some of them being fixed by mik and caveman's work. Also Noejn and Paolo , the authors of the best ROMS , at least in my opinion , hold title to : Void(best overall ) , Prime(stability ) , Megatron( best performance ) and Paolo's LOL rom which is the only one to cook a 2.2.2 version of android .
Also the phone has officially received Android 2.2.2 recently and will receive pretty soon Gingerbread .
So if you're in doubt about the support and popularity that such a budget received then stay assured that you have nothing to worry .
Cost is exactly same as galaxy 3

it will cost around 15k or rs 15,ooo in india.
but if u r low on budget then p500 is best choice i have it for a month and cannot let even anyone else touch it!!!!!!!!
Samsung doesn't give more than 256 MB ram on its non flagship phones. P500 has 512. Only this feature is enough for you to make a choice.
Samsung is playing a very dirty game by restricting the ram of all its newly launched non-luxury phones. I7500 died only due to ram. Spica is taking its last breaths.

are you sure they uses Qualcomm processor? i think they use Samsung's inhouse SOCs. but i think that can be tested by overclocking the chips to 760-800Mhz.

not really worth the extra 3.5k INR. you are getting just a bigger screen, better & usable camera. what you loose are: better screen (cause both uses same resolution), ram, battery life, weight.
if you use the camera lot & ok with less battery life, go for Ace. but Optimus One still has lot of life left. also i doubt Ace will ever taste official Gingerbread.

Belive me dude its real!
one of my friend took it for only 5 mins he couldn't leave it!!
I personally will never buy another Samsung phone again. Maybe Android, but even then I'd be very careful... From my experience their software is buggy, and they don't update it either. It makes no difference if the model is 200 euros or 400 euros, you'll get one or two updates until your model is old already.

Are you sure that Optimus has 512 MB RAM because if it has, thats some thing to go for. Moreover, can some one please tell me the colour quality and touch screen quality of LG. As per the specks of the phone, Optimus has only 256K colour while all other phones these days has 16M colours. As for the touchscreen, do we really have to press a little for the screen to react. Moreover, does a Optimus have a QVGA or a HVGA screen type??
It has 512 MB RAM and HVGA res. Why do you call 256k ONLY ? It's enough, 16M is crap, you cannot see the difference between them. (don't get me wrong, but I would not pay more for the same image/clarity/brightness on a TFT/LCD panel; AMOLED is something else)
Any idea as to when will any of the below mentioned models be launched in India and whats going to be an approx price:
LG Optimus 2X SU660
LG Optimus 3D P920
LG P990 Optimus Speed
LG Optimus Black
LG Optimus Mach LU3000
hey wait a little bit and buy a samsung galaxy gio!

[Q] Need Help Choosing a better phone.

Good Day,
Basically I need to choose from these two phones.
1. Samsung Galaxy Gio
2. LG Optimus Z (korean phone)
My mom is making choose from these two phones and I don't know what to do because both phones are very very phenomenal (If only I could choose both, trust me I will)
Personally, I would choose LG Optimus Z due to the fact the It would be so unique to have a phone which is not originally sold in your country + this dude comes with many freebies like screen protectors earpiece etc etc., and also because of the hardware too. In my opinion this dude is way better than the other dude if hardware, speed and performance are on the line. (and because I'm a big fan of korean culture, I would be so happy to have a phone that looks just like the one I see on Korean Movies)
On the other hand, I've read some claims, no not just claims, I saw some proofs too that Galaxy Gio Can Run the Latest Android 2.4/4.0 ICS, which gave me this hesitation to pick the first dude. I mean Gio is loosing against Optimus Z if we are talking about hardware. But when it comes to software thingy of course Gio is way better.
See ? tough choice huh ? If only some Genius here could help me root and mod Optimus Z so that I would run ICS too (but as of the moment I think korean phones are very fragile to rooting)
Back to the first Question, WHICH SHOULD I CHOOSE GIO OR OPTIMUS Z ??
Considering the lg had 1ghz armv7, if its me I'll go for it without thinking. Gio had ****ty armv6, and trust me u wont be happy if go anywhere near any armv6 device.
thanks for the opinion, I would pick the Optimus Z too. but I'm afraid I'll be stuck at froyo 2.2 forever
So its still had froyo? What a bummer. Well its up to u then. Gio had gb and dedicated forum here in xda. Maybe will get unofficial ics too. But the msm7227 armv6 is horrible.
It's brand new from korea so basically It's in 2.2

Is it worth buying now ?

I am buying one in a few days. I am from Argentina and I am upgrading from a Droid 2.
I think that suits my situation very well, as I want a bigger screen device (3.7' to 4.3'). It has an excellent design, which is something i really like. It has 2 cores (1 GHz core from D2 to 2 1.2GHz cores). I am also gaining RAM.
But above all this, the phones that are currently available in Argentina (where i live) are not that great. The S3 is releasing soon but at a huge price and screen seems to big for me. Then there are not other better choices in my carrier at least. Only got Milestone 3, HTC Sensation, Razr, and stop counting. So S2 is my best choice.
See how is your situation, you are not giving many details, but I think that it's a great choice, that's why I'll buy it.
Totally worth it ..!!
I don't know if people feel the same way about the Galaxy Nexus as I do, but I think that phone is the clear choice if you're going to buy an Android today.
It's priced very competitively. I think it's 350 USD (plus taxes) from Google Play?
Here in Hong Kong, it's about 400 USD (all inclusive).
Plus, with Jelly Bean it performs just as fast (if not faster) than the new phones like the S3 and the 1X.
I've had the S2 since launch and it's great. But I recently purchased the Galaxy Nexus for my wife. I updated it to Jelly Bean and that phone makes the S2 (running CM9) seem dated.

I could have easily bought GNex days ago but reviews with camera quality, 5 MP vs 8 MP on S2 discouraged me. Also 1.3 MP vs 2 MP front camera. I always do self portraits, that's why. But GNex has sharp screen. Really a hard choice. But both are good and up to par with current and I hope future developments.
Bought 1 a few months ago after its price dropped. Imo it's worth it since i'm not subscribing to data plan

I don't know how much your budget is but (in Holland at least) for 70 euros you have the htc one s, if the extra cost is within your budget and you can get the original s4 (not the s3 variant), I would get that. It feels like a big upgrade compared to the sgs2, the screen is better, touch sensitity is better, it feels better in the had, standby is much better (up to 5 days on a single charge with light use), it feels much faster overal than the sgs2
Absolutely not IMO. Either wait for next Nexus or buy that classic designed SIII.
totally worth it, ive got this phone for 6 months now and already convinced 3 friends of buying it aswell!! And my girlfriend is soon going to sell her iphone 4 for the galaxy SIII.
The phone is very good and it got alot of roms to play with! I am happy i bought it.
The galaxy siii is ofcourse much better but also much more expensive... i would go with the s2 if i was you
Currently own S2, but next phone will be Nexus.
I don't know how it is in India, but here where I live is impossible to get a Nexus for less than U$1000 (unlocked). Really! I'm not lying. And carriers don't bring this kind of device.
Another thing to take into account is the fact that both SGS3 and Nexus are very big devices, surpassing the 13cm mark.
i9100
I've had this phone for 2 months and I really don't feel like I'm missing anything by not having an sIII or nexus... Just root the SII, and flash a sweet ROM.. (I use Resurrection Remix...) you will have a device that destroys anything that is stock.. plus... getting something epic for half the price of cutting edge is part of the fun.... also I can vouch for the 8mp camera on the i9100 it is freaking awesome!!! better than my point and shoot... and destroys any other phone camera I've used... plus 1080p video camera is freaking sweet!

Should I buy Galaxy S2?

I had HTC Desire for nearly 3 years, and it is a great phone, but I think it is time to upgrade, because:
- it is annoyingly slow with my regular set of programs installed, even on fastest available roms
- it doesn't have kernel 3.0, and because of that JB roms have shortcomings
- a little bit too small screen for GPS navigation
- really crappy camera
- somewhat short battery life
Some time ago I had a chance to look at Galaxy S2 in person and it looked like a perfect phone (at least for 2 minutes I had it in my hands).
Somewhat bigger screen, more internal storage, kernel 3.0.
I use custom roms, so big development community is important for me. I have been spoiled by Desire as it (still) has a large one.
Galaxy S2 would cost me around 170-200 euro to get it.
Should I take that, or look for something else in this price range?
My requirements:
- larger screen (not necessarily much larger)
- android (duh)
- solid build quality
- large development community
- noticeably faster CPU than Desire (Dual+ core would come in handy)
- microUSB
- good/very good camera
- good battery life
- price up to 200 euro (used)
- would be nice if it had FM transmitter (not receiver) but it is not necessary
- it must by BLACK or therebout
No. Why would you buy a phone that's been out for two yrs ? Get an S3 or S4 if you want a Samsung phone.

Because I don't care how long the phone has been out, but how well it suits my needs.
Plus, S3 and S4 are surely more expensive.
Personally, between S2, S3 and S4, I would recommend the S3. (Although it wouldn't fit the budget, unless there are some offers!)
Mainly because it is relatively newer and you can expect new Android upgrades from Samsung (at least KLP) for it. Samsung has already announced that 4.2.2 will be the last update for S2, according to samfirmware. And with so many (mainly, codeworkx) developers not showing much love for Samsung devices of late, I am sure it would take that much longer to get custom ROMs updates.
If you do decide on S2, it is a really good device!! Great build, great design etc. But I suggest you buy the OMAP variants (i9100G), as it has better support from development community. Owing mainly to TI playing nice compared to Samsung (Exynos).
Several developers are not happy with Samsung's support for Exynos devices and Samsung's lack of support for the dev community of late. For me, this is a major concern.
Why are you advising the guy to get the g variant?.There was almost a riot in your country a year ago when suppliers were giving out g variant models instead of the plain gti9100 model.
If you want then buy a Nexus 7
Nexus has a huge development community and is also in ur price range

Why would I buy a tablet when I need a phone?
Samsung Galaxy S2 is still a powerful device even beat some newest devices (of course not high-end ones) but it's still can go well with mid-range devices.
Get S2 or S4.....I (personally) don't like the S3.The big thing is,that S4 hasn't a big developent support, since it's a new phone.Galaxy S2 has still a big support...I still see new ROMs and updates every day or week. And it is fast,no matter what people say...get the setup as in my sig...my phone was never faster.
So S2 looks interesting, but this is what I have been told about regarding its screen:
I also considered s2 but there's one serious setback to it. Namely, the screen is amoled and without pentile matrix.
What's bad about it you ask? pixels that are frequently used lose color and items that you have on screen for most time are somewhat paler than the rest of the screen, and you can see their shadow for the whole time, ppl reported that with all amoled displays and non pentile of s2 is even more susceptible to that. That happens even to devices 3 months old, depending on how heavily they are used I guess. You can google it to see for yourself, just type galaxy s2 amoled burn in. There are also few good YouTube vids showing that. Items that you usually can see are burned in status bar, soft keys from your most used app, keyboard, alarm icon and "fully charged" sign across the screen as during night charging the phone lights up when battery is full and keeps the screen on until you turn it off or unplug it/on some ROMs at least, stock including/.

Oh, if I wasn't clear: Right now I would prefer to use an S3. But if I had a fixed budget and decided on S2, I would by the G variant. -- This is what I meant.
Honestly, I thought those 'riots' were because Samsung decided to slip in the G variant very slyly. No intimation of any sort to the buyers.
I have read about the lower bechmarks on i9100G etc. Any other difference that goes against the i9100G? (Sorry that I am hijacking the thread, just wanted to know)

The g has a lot less development than the plain gti9100,unless something changed on here in the last 2 months. And the models are based on regions(supposedly).
Theres a wiki page that lists the models and explains a bit about them,so he can look at that and see what options are best for France.
I think the lte variant is the best, but maybe its for other regions of the world.

Meh, I am stuck.
I read around here that s2 display is horrible when compared to s3.
s3 has even cheaper feel, and is 100-170e more expensive
Sensation is useless to me.
Price of S4 is absurd...
By the way, are there some roms for S2 that allow changing software DPI? I have seen ParanoidAndroid on Desire can do that, but apart from this ROM, I haven't seen it anywhere else.

as to dpi, yes: slim, and rootbox do, and others may that i don't know of
p.s. i love my s2, so fast, and battery lasts soooo long , however if you're paying more than 200 usd it's not worth it

[Q&A] Next phone

I had my Galaxy s2 since September 2011 (I believe this was release year) Flashed it with almost every rom that claimed a good battery life. For the time I changed battery and numerous pouches The phone is excellent and stable like tractor. Well, everything gets old and I feel there is not much else can be add to my favorite phone and I simply have to move forward to keep flashing.
I bought myself a galaxy note 3 neo (n7505) and was quite happy, for 4 months, with performance and battery life, as well as with screen and sound. I liked many things about it BUT there were almost nothing to flash on it, even rooting was problem because of counter that is not possible to reset to 0 and any rooting would break the warranty forever. That was disappointing but now it is even more disappointing when I lost my n7505 by dropping it in water. Good that insurance covered it completely.
Well, I'm back to my Galaxy s2 but "internal me" still requires change. Before note 3 neo I had Galaxy s, Galaxy s2, galaxy Ace (my son uses it), Galaxy s3 mini (my wife uses), so, basically I dont know any other device except for Samsung and Huawei T-Mobile which was my first smartphone. I feel need to buy next device, but after reviewing the current market I didnt see (didnt notice) a good equal replacement for my tractor. I looked at Oneplus One (should be ideal for flashing) but all issues with it scare me off. Looked at note 3 but it is kind-a old (2013). I also looked at Xperia z2 (fits the the money I get from insurance company) this phone is nearly the same as xperia z3 but cheaper, the issue I see in it only battery, I wont be able to change it when it gets old, also glassy back can be too sensitive. Several models from Huawei look impressive but I looked at some of them on xda and there is no much of activity, very few roms. LG G3 has very impressive look but very poor battery, the same about Motorola x2 and g2. LG Flex 2 looks impressive with good battery but a bit too expensive. I've got 300 euro (+-)
What would people here suggest? any experience? what would you get to replace galaxy s2? (s5, s6, note4, etc. are out of price range)

LG G2 battery life is actually good, only if you flash the right things. Pair it up with dorimanx kernel for g2 and cloudyg2 rom and all should be good. Just stay away from stock lollipop since it would be buggy. If you insist on staying on the galaxy line, the s4 will still get you quite far in terms of updates and battery life. Price should be cheaper too with the release of the s6. (Around $300-$400 in Australia, but probably cheaper in in your country). Note 3 is probably also out of your range, but still a very good phone. Oneplus one issues? Issues with oneplus one shouldn't be a case for everyone, so it should still be a solid phone. Motorola is probably not the phone for you, but prices are pretty fair right now with their current phones.
I looked at LG g2 but the best battery life is far behind that of galaxy note 3 neo (8-9h sot) note 3 is still ok by price but almost 2 years old. Will take another look at oneplus one though. Should be nice phone for me if no issues.

That may be true. Oneplus one would be my pick (it's a shame we can't get it in Australia)
