Looking forward to trying this kernel!
Thanks.
Never heard of you before, dont think you made any for Sensation or Desire.

I think I saw this dev in the S3 forums. Or maybe the S2.. don't remember, but he made kernels for one of me phone's so it's one of these 2
I remember people were happy about the kernels... so good to see your here!

Great, will try your work ASAP! Hope the first kernel sources are better than the first ones for the One X ^^

Nice to see some kernel deveopment round here

Will the initial release to add write support to boot partition in normal boot? This will be a great feature before obtaining s off.

Sorry. This will be only for s-off devices.

No offence, but that's not very many people. Even developer devices are not expected to be S-OFF. Also you may want to check the forum rules about placeholder threads in dev sections, just FYI.

I assume this is responding to my earlier question. For DNA, kernel was customized to allow writable boot partition way before s off was available. So, it should be achievable from kernel perspective.

To make it more clear, what I mean is writable root file system and not flash kernel via recovery. This would benefit us to edit or replace file directly and not reboot to recovery.

Not sure why you're advertising your app, too, since it says it's for the gt-i9100.

Thread reopened.

There are two kernels in OP, which one to use? What's the difference? Am I missing something?

Usage of some features
Dynamic management of dirty page writeback
What is does?
- Allows to dynamically manage the dirty page writebacks with two different intervals, one when the screen is on and another when the screen is off. By using a higher interval we have better performance and less battery consumption, with a very low risk of data loss.
Thanks to Christopher83 and kingBABAsula.
Usage-
To enable it:
Code:
echo 1 > /proc/sys/vm/dynamic_dirty_writeback
To disable it:
Code:
echo 0 > /proc/sys/vm/dynamic_dirty_writeback
To customize intervals (in centisecs):
Code:
echo xxxx > /proc/sys/vm/dirty_writeback_active_centisecs
echo xxxx > /proc/sys/vm/dirty_writeback_suspend_centisecs

v2 works fine
First off, a big thank you for your amazing work, yet again.
Downloaded and flashed v3 and the recoveries work great. But as the ROM boots phone FCs along with other things. I did clear cache and dalvik after flashing.
The dual recoveries are indeed a great feature. I'd also like to request that you add Performance Control kernel features because they are really great.
Secondly, when the phone boots the LEDs light up as red, yellow and green. It would be great if you could change it to all blue, because it looks decent that way in my opinion.
Thanks a million again for your great work.

NEW!
So I have started on the GPE kernel source for m7.
As this kernel is still in testing stage (I only compiled it now) I have made it harder to install.
Think of it like natural selection.
Installation instructions:
1. fastboot flash boot boot.img
2. flash modules zip in recovery
Usually, these tests are done private but I thought since I have been gone from here for a while, I will put them up for everyone
As of now, this kernel has:
.stock ramdisk
.compiled with GCC 4.8 from Google (official lollipop branch)
.patch to 3.4.14
In depth changelog can always be found here:
https://github.com/poondog/kangaroo-m7-mkv/commits/master
Thanks
Thanks for this, its a lot snappier now. Nice to see you back in the forums....

INSTALLATION
1. Install zip from recovery
2. Follow the instructions, if you don't know what to do, use the preselected options
3. Reboot
It is recommended to disable or increase the screen timeout in TWRP recovery. If the screen timeout is enabled in TWRP, there may be a black screen after exiting the Aroma installer. This is nothing to worry about. Simply hold power and volume down until it reboots. The installation will be fine.
Express installer
1. Install zip from recovery
2. Reboot
This installer goes without AROMA. And this recommended upgrade method from one repack to another.
It's take previous options, selected in AROMA before.
If you installing Repack in first time- use AROMA version.

WARNING
New compression method use multistream compression for ZRam swap, which allow to use 1 swap device with several streams.
Most ROM's using several swap devices (usually 4).
In this kernel number of compression streams set to 4 with 1 device.
If you installing this kernel in first time- you should flash this file. It change number of swap devices to 1 and set swap to 820 or 625 MB*.

Should be fairly simple to implement.
However, since this is a ramdisk mod, you can add it yourself using Android Image Kitchen or the injector in the third post on that thread. Be sure to set the correct frequencies.
That way, you will have it before I push an update with it implemented.

I flashed it after release, but after new system build clean flash I could not find time to make new profiles, as they are empty in injector. Hell, lately I can't find time to update system, I flash new one every 4-5 weeks.
