Hey guys i found this bug on HTC One X , not sure will it work for HoX + , anyway it should , same camera sensor etc. Give it a try
Hey guys this is HTC One X GREAT camera BUG i found recently.

As for the bug with camera :
1st how does this bug works:
Simply , it gets stuck between scenes which i found accidentally while comparing HoX Vs My cousins s3 lol.
Anyway to be more specific it uses 2 scenes at the same time which provides great photos @ night , probably best 2012 phone @ day and Night INDEED is HOX. and i'll dare to say it comes close to HTC One with this Bug.
Important: this bug works ONLY with SENSE ( maybe miue roms as well ) and i found this bug on 3.18 base ( also working with 3.19 base ) for those still on ICS idk would it work there or at lower bases probably does.
How to use this BUG/GLITCH:
Outdoors night photos
> Open camera
> Turn off flash
> Chose NIGHT scene
> Chose HDR mode

Click to collapse
> Take a photo
This bug will add you an extra 100-300% more light to your photos. For even MORE light i'd say 50/100% more light do this:
After taking the photo , go to gallery>edit and AUTO ENCHANT it.
NOTE:
After this if you see boost in your display regarding brightness = bug is applied. Take a pic but be VERY VERY STEADY , even little movement will f[email protected] up the photo.
NOTE:
If you don't see improvement from the start you gotta REPEAT the process , sometimes it takes more then 1 time to get this bug working.
Also you must notice this: When you apply NIGHT scene you should see CAMERA being LAGGY when moving , after switching to HDR if it stays laggy and gives more light = bug is working 100%
For indoor photos with bug
> Turn ON flash ( not auto but ON )
> Chose NIGHT scene
> Chose HDR mode
> Take a photo
NOTE:
If you're using Underclocked CPU i'd suggest you use minimum 1300mhz quad core, with less speed shutter isn't fast enough to catch the light with HDR
BUG with FLASH - 50%-150% more light then normal flash light photos:
Ok this bug works similar as first one.
> Open camera
> Turn ON flash
> Chose NIGHT scene
> Switch to BACKLIGHT scene
> Take a photo
Note:
When you switch to NIGHT mode you should see your camera being LAGGY , after switching to BACKLIGHT scene if your camera stays laggy = bug is working.
TIPS:
1. Try to be still when taking photos especially with HDR BUG.
2. For more light use after taking the picture gallery effects - auto enchance , with picassa / instagram you can modify them even more to be even better.

IMPORTANT
Q) Will this bug crash/kill my camera ?
A) I don't know , i've been using it for over 2 weeks now everything is working as it should.
If you guys gonna use this BUG would be nice if you could upload some samples as well
So NOTE if you gonna use this bug you use it at your OWN RISK so don't blame me if you [email protected] up your camera.
Thx to Hamdir for testing my bug and providing us professional comparison.
Also thx to neuTrue for enchanting one of my photos to show us what we can do with some more software
These pics were taken around 8-9PM And on the 1st pic you can see how i saw at night with my eyes.

HTC One X: Hidden Low Light Abilities (Firmware 3.19.401.1)
Did you guys know the One X has night vision abilities? check this out
Ordinarily the Flash can be used but it casts the photo in blue plus add abnormal shadows, at least you can counter the blue by setting the white balance to Fluorescent before taking the photo
The included Night scene is not as effective, it forbids the Flash, it locks to ISO 1250 and cuts the shutter speed in half for more exposure time, sadly the results are often bad and not useful
But then for very low light and still photos, there is a revelation that is the HDR mode, especially when combined with auto flash it can do wonders, auto flash will smartly use two quick flash bursts to get better exposures for HDR, surprisingly auto flash with HDR does not cast shadows neither does it tint the screen
Finally a bug discovered by Shan89, switch to Night mode and then immediatly back to HDR mode, the shutter will get stuck in slow mode collecting even more light, you can also combine auto flash for killer results!
The bug mode is highlighted below with an *
keep in mind the shutter will be very slow at this point and you need to be very still until the word "processing" appears on screen (to counter motion blur),
Equally the resulting photo will fail to record the correct shutter speed since it's a bug after all
Some of the following results were brighter than my own eyes

I'll be giving the trick in this thread a try later tonight, I'll report back.
Thanks to the OP for sharing this trick with us, hopefully it pans out to some goodness!

Np mate, hope it works for you guys as well :good:

As I've said a long time ago, it doesn't work on the HOX+, it becomes darker when switching from night to hdr, so the bug doesn't work. Pictures taken with night mode is brighter than the hdr switched from night mode. Maybe someone else can try it
Edit: wait, I think I got it working
Edit 2: dang it, only worked once and not anymore... Tried like 10 times and can't make it work. It's so much easier on the HOX
Edit 3: looks like it's only a matter of luck... Got it working for a few more times

Damn , well key point is to do this when is night , the best scenario for this bug is when is twilight and a bit more darker , then chose night scene and switch to HDR , it should apply after 1-2 trys , we on hox get it working almost every single time, you might wanna try reducing CPU max speed , if you use 1700 lower it to 1300/1500 , it might work better since CPU will be slower and give you more time to apply the bug, also on hox once you apply the bug it'll stay that way untill you take a picture or untill you move on bright area.
EDIT: Added 2 more that were missing from hamdir

I did the testing in midnight, outdoors with a few streetlights. I used the power saver to reduce cpu to 1300mhz. My HOX+ is fully stock so I can't do much to it. I think the chance of getting it to work is like 30%....

[Q] Xenon Flash... can it serve as flash light?

can Mozart's Xenon flash serve as flash light? I read some review that LED can stay on but a xenon can't since it's like digital camera flash, it fires once after it has sufficient charge. To those people with units, can clarify on this ?
I don+t have the unit, but flashlight app from HTC is not available on the Mozart (check HTC website for instance). I don't now if 3rd party flashlights will allow this, but what i know is that xenon flash must not stay on because its powerful that LED and eventually may burn the flash... So LED may be used for flashlight, but xenon no.
No, it cannot. I bought a powerful LED light from DealExtreme for my keychain to use as a replacement as I was used to the HD2 LED flashlight
There are a few apps for the HTC 7 Mozart. But they only make the screen bright! In my oppinion thats pretty useless...
Yeah, Xenons cant light up permanently. They physically just cant.
And using its display as flashlight sucks.
I read that the flash can only be used for short periods of time as its an Xenon bulb and will burn out if used for to long. This would also explain why know one has made an app for this. The screen light apps are no good but thats not the fault of the app makers as if they could do some thing with the flash im sure they would do. Its almost as important to have a touch as it is a alarm these days and we have all kinda come to expect it. Hope this helps.
The xenon flash is driven by a flyback converter (in the same manner as a capacitor, sort of) running voltage of around 200 - 300v, as the naked battery power isn't capable on it's own... The reason it can't be used as a flashlight is basically due to the converters recovery rate...

true, its kinda important, all i ever read was how awesome the xenon flash is but never a word about its disadvantages untill i got one. well i can live without light, always got a lighter, or consantly take pictures like in some horror movie for light
then i read this nice mozart review and about the camera
http://www.missuall.com/htc-mozart-2/
The xenon flash on the Mozart is a bit of a joke. First of all it is too weak and is only usable in low light at a short distance. Attempts at using it as a fill flash with day light were met with spectacular failure. Apart from being weak, there are also three more reasons why the flash fails to perform adequately. First, there is no focus assist that would help the camera focus in pitch darkness, which means your images would come out of focus. Surprisingly though, it worked quite well in low-light.
Secondly, the camera cannot judge the distance of the subject from the camera and modulate the intensity of the flash. Objects that are closer often get washed out when shot using the flash. Lastly, Windows Phone 7 is not optimized for a xenon flash but an LED flash, which means it uses a slower shutter speed, which does not work well with a xenon flash.
Since the shutter is open longer than the duration that the flash is active, the camera is unable to freeze the action the way you are used to seeing on other xenon flash enabled cameras. This is similar to the slow synchro mode that some cameras have where the shutter speed is reduced to allow more light in, except on the Mozart, that’s the only option you have.
We also had issues with the accelerometer on the phone, which annoyingly recorded the orientation of the images incorrectly. Even when we were holding the phone perfectly horizontal it would save the images in portrait mode, upside down. Because of this, we always had to make sure the camera is perfectly straight before taking an important shot, lest we took our pictures upside down.

so i think in future the xenon flash can and will be supported by apps and then it will totally rock!

sounds like you got some internal knowlege about, so is it possible to flash with the xenon more then one time ? how long is the recharge time, how many times can you flash in lets say 10 sec? if u cant make it always on, try to make it flash 24 times a sec i kinda think it wont be possible, but then cant we have multi-shot pictures? i wish i could view in future

xenon lights use a ballast to constantly supply the required power demands of the light, vehicles have an inexhaustable power supply for this process...

The phone flyback converters are produced pretty much with two goals in mind:
1. be small enough to fit into the case...
2. supply the demands of a low-tech, low demand camera...
I think even if you could overcome the dependance of the flash to recover only in line with the frame rate of the camera, the battery would not be sufficient to run it as a torch/flashlight for long...

So we can't use the xenon flash also during video... grrr
This is one reason I am strongly considering the cheaper Trophy over the Mozart. The Mozart has a better build but if you plan on doing anything involving flashlight capabilities then you will be better off with a Trophy.
You could buy an external keychain light but to hold that and keep the phone steady will be a task.

[Q] Video frame rate issue

I'm having weird issues with video recording. If I start filming in bright light, the frame rate is abysmal (about 2 fps). In normal room lighting there is no problem and the frame rate is good enough.
The weird part is that if I start recording in the room light and step out side to very bright day light, the frame rate stays good. And if I start in bright light with bad fps it stays bad no matter the lighting.
Anyone else having this issue?
edit: my phone is stock and is running OS version 7.10.7740.16
Hmmm, my phone has the same configuration as yours: Stock rom and everything. I tried what you said, recording from bright light to room & vice versa, but my transitions seem to be smooth with no lags :/ I believe your camera is on it's default settings?
When in camera mode, try panning the camera from bright light to dim & vice versa, see if there are any lags of choppiness in between the transition. If there isn't, there shouldn't be any problems. If there is, I'm not sure what's causing it.
Does anyone here has had this issue as well?
I've tried to do just like you told and I have some example videos but I can't link to them as I'm new member (joined 2008, never written anything before
Couple a days I did some filming outside and I had to start recording by covering the lens with my finger every time to get normal fps. This way it works fine and I get good quality.
I don't know if it has something to do with that there's really bright outside during day because all the snow here but I can also replicate the problem by pointing camera to my monitor.
This is new issue for me too as it was working fine untill now.
btw. It seems to work fine if I use VGA quality.
I just hope I don't have to reset my phone.
Hmmm, I guess no else has had this problem. But this is a really unique one since VGA works, there's no reason why 720p isn't working. Perhaps bringing the phone to the service center might be of help? :/

Hi joaquim! Dont feel lonely, i also have this problem on my mozart phone. I've made a search on youtube, and i also noted that there are several users with the same problem.
I also have another problem, it gets difficult to change from the phone mode to video mode. Every time i press the cam icon to change the mode to video, i hear some clicks inside the phone and the imagem starts to focus. I have to click several times until i can change the mode.
Also, i see no solution for this
your not alone i have this problem too and it happened on my stock rom and even now on the latest custom rom that i installed. I have not tried the finger trick though.
I also tried doing some searching and the only thing i found pointed at possible sd card issues...i have swapped out the deafault 8gb sdcard for a 16gb one and they state that if it is not class 5/6 then it could be too slow writing 720p data.
but like you i have no problem recording 720p indoors just outside or in bright light....
I have noticed that this only occurs in 720p mode, in VGA mode works fine though

Yes this is a nice phone except one thing.
after press the power button and display off then data network is disconnect.
and press the power button display on then restart connect the data network.
when i'm not using the phone i can't use skype, viper, this kind of apps .
because data network is disconnect.
You have to go to wifi settings and in there press the menu button, go to advance options. In there, there has to be an option to chose the way wifi behaves once the screen is turn off.

truth... i was even praising my brother's Nokia E72 cos tha camera is awesome..!
but dis is greater!
for me the camera is fine! really loves this phone. It runs fast and easy to navigate! i will consider if there will be an upgrade model.
It's not the best camera but if you know it's limitations you could work around them. Don't take photos in automatic, it's always better that you choose a scene and the type of focus. Don't use image stabilization if you are in night mode, even though one would think that this is the best scenario to use it, because what it does is doble the ISO so you have two times faster shutter speed but since in night/night portrait it uses a very low shutter speed, the amount it increases is not sufficient to be able to take a handheld photo and because of the high iso the photos have a lot of noise. I use Vignette in night mode to take photos with poor light, if i'm able to put my phone in a stable surface, because this mode uses a slower shutter speed and lower iso than night portrait mode of the stock camera. It uses 1/4 shutter speed and 125 of iso. In normal conditions there's not much you could do. Maybe if there is too much light change the mode to sports so it increases the shutter speed.

Well it depends on expecations.
I knew that the mini's camera suck even before buying it. Watched lots of video samples and photos taken with the xperia mini pro, and thought "well, it's total crap but it's still better than the x10 mini so what the hell!"
And just got one. I did a few tests myself, and the results are exactly the same as the samples I saw on internet.
But still, when you look at the overwhole features, the xperia mini is a much better phone than it's competitors, specially at this price range.

[Q] Enable camera options

Hello, samsung disabled some options in camera in most of the shooting mode or scenes,I searched pretty much everywhere and I couldn`t find some useful information. Is really annoying that they did.For example,in a low light situation if I use the flash, 2-3 m in front of the camera will look very good but everything else will look bad, if I use the low light shooting mode, everything will look good but if I would use low light shooting mode + flash, 2-3 m in front of the camera will look very good and everywhere else will look good(perfect). Also the burst mode is pretty usefulness in good light situations as you would have to be drunk to take a blured picture but with the low light shooting mode where is very likely to get a shaky picture would be great to take at least 2-3 photos fast(even if not so fast as in normal mode) so you could be sure that you have at least 1 good picture. The examples can go on and I don`t think that I`m asking for something impossible.Did someone modded the camera app as stated above or is there any possibilty in the near future to see some of those useful options?Thank you in advance.
so not a single chance to accomplish what I want?
nobody can understand what you mean.
Wall of text is horrible
somebody on XDA posted a guide on enabling the option to switch the camera shutter sound on/off by editing the feature.xml file under /system/app/
may be you need to try something similar
but be very careful when you edit such files.

I mean that if you choose from shooting mode the "low light" or HDR or a lof of options, flash is AUTOMATICALLY disabled or you can't use the burst shoot with low light option enabled or HDR, that`s what I`m talking about. Is it possible to trick the camera software to be able to use all the options along?
You need to search and read the various camera mods and decide .

There is a reason why these options can't be used with each other.
1. low light mode is supposed to take into account that there is very little light. If you turn the flash on with low light mode then you're essentially not using low light mode anymore because flash provides loads of light.
2. HDR mode takes 2 shots (3 on some devices) with different exposures and then combines the 2. If flash is involved the 2 shots will pretty much look the same and will therefore mean HDR is useless.
3. Burst shoot takes loads of photos simultaneously and if flash is enabled the first shot will usually be taken with flash. The device simply cannot handle the flash being used up to 20 times one after another.
If there is software out there to "trick" the camera into being able to do what you describe, it won't make a positive difference to your photos. It's general photography and the way cameras and their features work that make what you want to happen, a bad idea!

that part is not true. You can use Torch in strobe mode, which flashes the flash (sounds stupid, sorry) at like 50Hz

1 if you've ever played with light settings on a dslr, you'd know cranking up ISO, low shutter speed, exposure, etc will give you such a high exposure you can't even make the picture out.. all you see is a white light.. I feel this is what would happen.. its like shining a flashlight on something during night vision, all you see is a huge white spot.. does that make sense?
its not a software limitation its just the way modern lens work.
2 agreed
3 the flash can stobe 20 or so times a second, any 'flashlight' app will show you this.. you could also leave the flash simply on..
the best workaround ffor this is use 1080p video mode with flash, it takes 30 frames (shots) a second, and while watching the video there's a camera button on screen in the stock video player. best workaround.
and yea mods will come

Yeah I agree I guess what I was trying to say is it would render low light mode useless. It would be one of those options that produces shockingly bad photos.
I forgot about the strobe, although I can't imagine this being a feature. I forgot that these "flashes" are just LEDs and not the traditional flash you get with an SLR.
The 1080p video mode is a great workaround suggestion. I hope saddameu can get something from this information.

I hope English is not your first language
That being said you are probably asking for slow-sync flash - as far as I know the S3 does not have that feature yet.
you have some good points but you took the worst combinations ever.
How can you say that is not good to take a pictures with low light enabled + flash? We are not talking about a dslr flash. If you take a picture of someone being 3-4 m away in low light conditions with flash ON it would be a better picture than taking it only with low light mode or only with flash, think about it, it will just make the person look better as the flash is not that strong to make the subject look too bright.
That is one good combination, another one could be using the burst shot with low light enabled to be sure that you take at least 1 good picture as you have to be very steady even if the burst shot would be slower in low light mode than a normal picture.I could probably take only 1 good picture in low light mode knowing the phone but if you give the phone to a friend, for example, the picture will look like it was taken from a drunk men.
Could you provide me some links with some good camera mods as I only found only hyperx`s mod.
And no, english is not my native language , I learned it pretty much by myself as in school I learned english for only 2 years but the first post was made being in rush.
Thank you,

[Q] Start of photo burst sequence is too slow on S9+?

Coming from S7E and bit disappointed with camera. Doing a lots of pictures of my kid and burst mode when you hold white button/volume is only chance to get at least few pics in focus. Only problem is that with new S9+ burst mode kicks in about 500ms later than it started on S7E.
So you see kid doing something interesting, point camera and hold shutter button. And wait. It takes about 1s or even more to start taking pictures and while you wait, your camera is doing nothing. On S7E burst started almost immediately, was bout 250-500ms max. Kinda disappointed with this upgrade...
Tried to find some settings for this, but there is only option to enable feature, nothing else.
UPDATE: Friend of mine checked S8 and A8, both starts burst shot almost immediately, so it is probably something new with S9+?
This is just a guess, but it could have to do with the shutter opening/closing for the amount of light in the photo prior to shooting?
Seems quite unlikely to me, because you can take regular image almost immediately...
It's likely the camera software needs optimising and tweaking. Are you on the latest firmware? I'm not, so wouldn't know if that changes anything but likely a fix will be on its way

Of course, was first I tried, though still have only G965FXXU1ARB3 available and seen newer G965FXXU1ARC5 floating around, but not yet for my carrier. Hppefully it will fix this...
So updated to G965FXXU1ARC5 and delay before burst is still there :-/
Another update and still start of burst sequence is way too slow. Any tips how to make it start faster?

I think the reason may be that the device waits to see if it was a single shot or a long press, since a single click on volume button is supposed to just click a photo, and a long press is to take a burst
Just checked mine, and while there is a slight lag, it's nowhere near a full second.

Checking your signature, are you testing it on S7E or S9+? Because I had S7E before and it started much faster, for sure under half second. I have problem with S9+ and checked S8+ and its fine similar like S7E, only new S9+ is affected...
S9+. Guess I need to update my sig!
