Any word on a 4.2.2 update? - AT&T HTC One (M7)

Got my One yesterday and I love the phone but it really needs some quick toggles. Does anyone know if htc plans on releasing an update to 4.2.2?

Highly likely. This link is more of a rumor sourced article. But I have seen sales pages that say "upgradable to 4.2.2".
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Andr...heading-for-the-HTC-One-X-this-Summer_id41376

I'm running the Renovate Rom from the International HTC One forums and it has the quick toggles, also has long press the back button for menu which gets rid of the black bar menu on bottom.
The rom and the kernel work fine on the AT&T version (LTE and All)

Antek quick settings in the play store
It's not as refined but it works

tbh i would much rather HTC keep it 4.1.2 and just wait for 5.0 and upgrade to that

So get this..... Is this even possible?

So this guy i work with tells me he was talking to 2 guys who work down the street at CDW. Apparently they both had Notes. But, they somehow managed to be running Honeycomb on them. Possible? Now this guy I work with knows cell phones pretty good so I have no reason to doubt him but I figured I'd ask anyway.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
are you cool with them.check the firmware and see if its really honeycomb or what version. or maybe there just using a ported rom or a honeycomb theme?.....I'm curious now..

On our international notes we can run ICS in tablet mode complete with the bottom task bar and soft buttons which is probably what you saw

I was told it was 3.3.6 firmware. Does that make sense?

No sir. Honeycomb only came in 3.0, 3.0.1, 3.1 and 3.2 I believe.
3.2.6 was released last month - for a Xoom connectivity issue.

[Q] What does the 4.0 update look like with Sense?

Hey everyone, I live in Canada, and we're only scheduled to get the OS 4.0 update on the HTC Amaze 4G next week. I'm very curious how HTC Sense looks. Does it run Sense 3.6? How is it different from 3.0 that's originally on the Amaze? Finally, do we get 5gb of free Dropbox?
If someone can post a few screenshots of native apps that've changed, and also of the homescreen, that would be great.
Thanks
Here is the home screen for android 4.0 w/ sense. And yes, this is sense 3.6

No free dropbox... That's an HTC one perk I believe. Although, dropbox gives everyone 5gb free just for signing up.

Is the camera app changed at all? Or the gallery app?
Sorry for having so many questions, TELUS just announced that the update would be delayed until the end of the week.

Gallery is different. Each row fits more pictures and they are smaller. I personally dont like it at all, but thats my only complaint about the update so far.

getting a phone next week

And it'll be the Evo LTE or the SGSIII.
I have handled both and like the Evo more. (rocking a Photon currently)
My one question: is there a RELIABLE AND BUG FREE workaround yet for the botched multi-tasking??
If not, I think that will ruin my experience.
Thanks.
Nope, even with everything I've tried it is still crwp when compared to other phones I've owned, specially stock android 4.1.

Wow, not good. You have tried the custom ROMs that are available with the supposed tweaks to fix this?
Thanks.
I haven't noticed it at all. I can leave an application and go back into it 10+ minutes later and it's still where I left off.

I tried multiple roms and so far it seems there is no fix.
For example I was on the web browser. Backed out with the home key to go to home screen. I then went to settings to change my display settings went back to browser and the whole page had to reload and refresh.
My GS2 and Galaxy Nexus was better then this phone in the performance department.
Not to mention after you start installing apps and setting up your home screens the phone just gets slower and slower and less snappy.

Yep. It's bad.
Bad enough that my lte is sitting in a drawer as I use an alpha cm9 build on my evo 3d. Multitasking, background downloads stopping, and overall sluggishness compared to stock drove me away.

Jelly Bean will be running on the LTEVO any day now, which will mitigate the multi-tasking issue. With that said, I've tried both and the LTEVO was the clear winner for me. The Galaxy is way too plasticy for me.

Nope. Just this phone. I returned this phone due to crappy gps, lag and horrible multi tasking. Having to keep my screen on to download something was unacceptable. I'm on a s3 now and xda app was still on the last Page I viewed yesterday evening and I've played a few games and run a few other apps. Gps is best I've ever experienced on a phone. Hard to say that and Samsung in same sentence lol

htc one x update and Sense 4.1...

apparently the one x on att is getting update to android 4.0.4 which also has a fix in it to remove the bottom menu bar, the way rom developers have been doing. wounder if the evo will get the same thing.

Yeah, if even that long. The funny thing is that the change is so simple (go find runandhides thread, he shows how he did it) that anyone that knows how to decompile/recompile an all can do it. Let alone HTC, it shouldn't have taken them this long.

No I must agree. You may be mistaken about what is broken with multitasking on our phones. The One X fix removes the black menu bar at bottom of screen in some apps & moves recent apps to a long press of the button. Our multitasking problem is Sense not storing the state of apps once we switch from one to another so that when we do switch or multitask back to original opened app it has to completely restart. This fix does nothing to help that and I don't see HTC releasing one anytime soon seeing as that is how they intended it to work, so from their pov it is working properly.

Thanks for that..What I was going to reply to him with would have been way to Katty and troll like... :good:
Have you guys even read the HTC ONE X update thread or did you just read the post the OP posted and see what it contained?
Go read the XDA thread please
I know it has nothing to do with the menu button. Its a RAM issue, and its being reported as being fixed by multiple users.. Go read the thread.
Being "Katty" gets "Katty" responses. Don't make assumptions about others' knowledge
Nothing in that android central article says anything about multitasking being fixed by this update..Now if you want to find those threads where people are reporting improvements then I will gladly read them.

I agree, nothing in the android central article says anything about it. I didnt reference that article. I referenced threads right here on the XDA website.
The discussion regarding multitasking is HTC's "memory optimization". That means the HOX boots with more ram available, not multitasking being what it should be - multitasking.
I really like this phone. I can deal with a moderate task killer. I don't use the phone like I do a computer. All I ask for is a level of multitasking where I can browse the web, change an album or two, send a message, and return to browsing the web - seamlessly. There is clearly enough ram, let us use it.
Sent from my EVO
Unfortunately HTC's current next generation smart phone's have been a big flop. I'm sure this update will make the current user base happy, but it will definitely not attract new users. HTC has been to slow with its updates to fix current problems and unfortunately it took me to install CM10 to finally use multitasking the way it was meant to be. Htc better fix their problems quickly or they'll be the next Nokia.

I knew I wasn't going crazy. My ram percentage was always under 25 percent. Something was very off about that. That's the same percentage my Evo 4g gave off with the same apps installed. Sometimes my Evo 4g was better. Smh. Multitasking won't be updated by HTC until October I bet
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
About multitasking from what I just saw over there they are getting more free ram avail from get go but HTC still did not make it so apps won't reload but that was one persons account...someone on AP said it was completely fixed...so its hard to say so many people seem confused...

Quick question:
What happens to those of us who have a SIM unlocked One with a custom ROM (CleanROM)? Will we still get the firmware update in some way, for example will be able to just flash it or something? The option in the settings menu "AT&T Software Update isn't there for me anymore.
