Subscribed and looking forward to taking advantage of all the goodies, once my One arrives in the mail! Thanks for this thread and to all of the devs that are already developing for the One! It'll be tough saying goodbye to my OG EVO 4G, but I'm sure the One will lessen the pain considerably.

Nope, this is actually my very first smartphone, unless the BB 8330 I had before it was considered a smartphone. I've been holding out for a worthy contender to the EVO, in comparison to when I purchase and what is the most cutting edge, since I'll be stuck with it for at least 2 years. Having it rooted, and even able to run the 4.2.2 SlimBean ROM, as well as ICS and other JB versions before it, certainly helped me hold out much longer.
Looking forward to how the One treats me. Although, I'm gonna try holding out on rooting it until someone figures out how to unlock the bootloader without it showing that it was unlocked before, if I need to unroot and relock. I've heard that AT&T doesn't allow unlocking the bootloader, so I'd hate to have a problem with my phone, unroot, relock, and take it in for diagnosis, only to be turned away because the bootloader shows a message that it had once been unlocked. Or I might unlock the official way if I discover that someone figures out a way to remove that message.
Sorry about this conversation leading somewhat off topic. I figured I'd post my concerns for deciding not to root immediately, just in case others have similar concerns. Also, someone might come across solutions that address these concerns and decide to share. Let me know if you'd rather the conversation continue elsewhere though.

I've written a tutorial for unlocking bootloader and rooting with a Mac. Link is in my Signature.

Definitely! I have no problem being patient. I'm sure I'll enjoy the phone in stock form for awhile anyways. It will be a huge performance upgrade from me EVO. One of the first apps I will install will be:

and/or

Dang! I'd really hate to wait another month. I finally got mine. Just waiting for it to finish charging, and then I'll get into the goodies.
Gonna hold off on rooting and flashing a custom ROM though, as I've read of some having speed issues depending on if the ROM bases are international or AT&T. I also read something about picture quality being better on the international, than on AT&T, but I'm hoping that only refers to custom AT&T ROMs and not the stock one. *crosses fingers*
Oh, also, I thought I'd mention another great app that I plan to install as soon as I get my One up and running. It's an advanced voice assistant app for the poweruser or novice, called "utter!"...the most recent version is in a post towards the end of the thread, not the Play Store. It's a great app, with a really great developer!

Btw, anyone having any issues with their speakers popping during YouTube videos, and even in some other apps? I noticed it some in YT vids, but it was the worst when I tried the Smule app "Sing" last night. It worries me that it's a hardware issue, but I've researched online and a significant number of users are having the popping during YT vids and music. No mention of "Sing" though. I just hope that a software update will fix it, considering that I just spent well over an hour applying a full body skin from bestskinsever.com. The plus is that the skin was only about $9+ including shipping, so if I have to get a replacement, it's not too big of an issue.

Tried to unlock the bootloader through HTC's site and got an error code. Since the phone is not release I'm guessing unlocking it is not supported as of yet through there service.
Where did you get a Rezound so early? I want mine now!
nevermind.
Think HTC's bootloader unlock will work or will it need to be hacked off?

I think the HTC site needs to be updated after the phone releases. I took the key I put in the site but the site refused to output a unlock pass file.

Apparently there was a glitch in Verizon's main system that allowed people to pre-order the phones, and it was open for a few days while dozens maybe hundreds ordered the phone. Many people got it with 1 day shipping.
It's been fixed as of today (or yesterday) so no more orders until the 14th.

Slightly larger then a Thunderbolt.
Always thought the 4.3 screen is the perfect size. The hardware looks killer. Why just a 1650 battery? The Thunderbolt came with a pittifull 1400 battery,, bumping it just 250 isn't very much. Maybe they added battery helping software to help aid the battery last longer. We hope, I want this bad ass phone, it has everything. This will be killer with ICS on it.
HTC will not be adding Rezound to unlocked list you can thank Verizon for this.

temp root can already be done, but we need S-OFF to unlock the bootloader to install kernels and ROMs.
I believe it's still possible to install ROM's with S-ON, not exactly sure though. I know you can't install custom kernels, radio's and other good stuff.

what about the story that was on the front page a few days back? that verizon had to let the galaxy nexus's bootloader be unlocked. would the rezound fall under the category where it would he illegal for them to keep it locked?

ra style recovery test EVO3D cdma

Hello, if you post here could you please add whether you're s-off vs. HTC dev unlocked. If you don't care about this thread but are just browsing, can you please post s-off or HTC dev unlocked. Thanks for the help.
I take no credit for developing this!
But ill take a little credit for getting the ball rolling
This is the ra style recovery for the EVO3D made by drellisdee.
Thanks drellisdee!
Ive been in contact with drellisdee for about a month, getting the stuff he needs to make the ra style recovery for us. Such as the gingerbread stock recovery, some adb outputs, adb shell command outputs, dumped the recovery partition, etc. I tested the first build and it didnt work. He was surprised that it didnt work. He said that using a nearly identical setup it works on rezound and vivid, which are very similar to our device.
If it doesnt boot for you, then simply flash your old recovery back. Their will be another build soon enough I'm sure. It'll either be posted here or drellisdee will make a dev thread.
Chad.Goodman is helping with the kernel.
Thanks chad!
For me, I tried to boot to recovery after flashing via fastboot, and it just skipped recovery and booted normally. Another member tried it and it did the same thing. (thanks linsalata28).
If you would like this as a recovery option for the evo 3d and are willing to test it and post your results then here it is.
I got his permission to post this.
Only you, are liable for your device.
edit.... I'm hboot 1.4 s-off
Is this a new version other then the one I had tested?
Edit: NM I saw it in your post IDK how I missed it.

Yeah, it'll be great when this is running 100%. Boot manager won't work for me if I have twrp so I have to use cwm, but with cwm, my phone won't charge with the power off. So if I let my battery die, I'm screwed. Ra style was rock solid on the og evo. Id almost be willing to trade my 3d for an og just to have this recovery back.

I'd like to see it in the development section too, and hopefully we'll see it there, but I don't want to post it there, I'd probably be severely flamed for it since I'm not the dev.
The dev doesn't have an evo3d so he can only go by what we tell him. Right now he knows that it doesn't boot on my phone (1.5 hboot s-on) and one other phone (eng hboot s-off) but it really needs to be tested on a few more devices.

kernel would have been done days ago, but between me being sick (back issues), and family issues -i had zero time
its building now - will PM the OP a link to zimage once done
recovery dont need wifi, bluetooth, wimax, beats, etc - so i made this kernel as lightweight as i can while having it still boot AOSP based roms, while including support for all compression methods and file systems
.......2.5MB and still -o3 optimized -- yes overkill for a recovery kernel - but i like to know my code has zero warnings and errors w/ -o3
and compressed zImage using the method requested by the OP
..and yes, the kernel will support QUICK charging while in recovery via USB (though the charging LED may not come on)

New to Rezound

Hey guys.
New to the Rezound but not HTC. Had the Thunderbolt before and was rooted.
The way I understand this is that the Rezound has a locked bootloader so we can't just simply root. Right? Also, if I just unlock the bootloader, I can't flash New radios just ROMS right until I'm S-OFF?
Is there any other way than the wire trick to get S-OFF? Not a big fan of poking the internals of my phone. Lol
Just got this phone yesterday.
Sent from my Rezound via XDA Premium
Your understandin is spot on.
The wire trick really isn't that bad. It intimidated me for a while, I bit the bullet and did it without issue.

Honestly dude, i was one of the first to go for S-off simply because i was sick oh waiting. I wouldnt let myself unlock as i knew i had the possibility of causing warranty issues and didnt want to risk it. S-off is really easy to do though and VERY nice to have once you get it right. Makes flashing roms a ton easier and i just find it convenient as you never have to worry about if you are LOCKED, UNLOCKED, or RELOCKED, its just, LOCKED S-off. also, you can downgrade if you want to if you are S-off but not just unlocked.
The wire trick is so ridiculously easy, its not poking around your hardware like people make it sound like, it's like pushing a paper clip into the reset button of an old tech device, just wrap the clip in electric tape where you'll touch it

as for you questions, id say do the s-off. its easy pls the benefits never stop. its actually extremely easy. it takes a couple times because of timing but still.
then id say try out one of the new RUU's for ics. try it out get a good feel. if its too hot or you have issues, ruu back to gb.
for GB roms, id suggest Innfibilis 1.4 (slaughtered that name).
for ICS, id have to suggest nils or con rom if you like the latest leak sense 3.6, pkmn or newts one XxX or RezROM S4 for sense 4. as for senseless, try CleanRom developer addition or bamf senseless.
we do not have true AOSP roms as of now but they will be soon. hope you enjoy your new phone!

So you can S-off without unlocking the bootloader? I don't have a rezound but my girlfriend does. Looking into the easiest way to do S-off and be able to flash the new ICS leak. I wanted the option to go back to GB if the gf didn't like the new update.
I appreciate the answers guys.
I'm gonna give it a whirl tonight. Will anyone be on tonight that might be able to walk me through it if there are questions? Or is there an active IRC for the Rezound? We had one by Team BAMF on the Thunderbolt.

Ok. Well I've got S-Off and still have my recovery but when I'm in the bootloader menu it says "Locked" instead of "Unlocked" like it did before.
Do I need to re-unlock the bootloader?

Nononono it doesn't matter anymore! You can have locked as long as it says s-off, you are fine. You can do anything now! Downgrade, flash boot images, change splash screens, etc. Enjoy!

Got it. Well I went back and re-unlocked the bootloader.
I can install any ROMs and do everything with the exception of new kernels with just S-OFF?
So would it be safer to go back and lock the bootloader? lol

It really doesn't matter. There's no point in unlocking or locking. And you can flash anything now. Most new roms are made for s-off(have the boot image inside) so you dont need to do anything.

Well I'm almost done downloading RezRom w/Sense 4.0.
I appreciate the help Ant! The process was similar to the T-Bolt but the Bolt had an unlocked bootloader already so it saved me that step.
I'm gonna like Sense 4.0 I think plus it'll make my friends jealous. lol

You do have to actually unlock it, but when you S-off it goes away back to locked. But yes, to flash the ics leak you do need s-off to get back.

I'll add this for others. This was just my experience though.
After unlocking my bootloader and getting S-OFF, my SD card was not wiped like I was warned.
Maybe I got lucky but it worked for me!! Lol

No they removed that. Now it backs up and replaces the sd. At first, you would lose you files and have some problems with mounting and stuff.

Ahh I see. Yeah things should pick up soon. Viper is gonna release a beast very soon. Yeah that's a small update, so I don't its a lot included In There. I just don't think they would send. I'm not downing the roms either, they just look the same. I've seen viper... It still doesn't look as customized & heavily themed like say InfectedROM Eternity. Remember how easy it was to tell the roms apart? I could easily separate WarmRom from InfectedROM Eternity from a mile away... With glasses of course
Not the case with Sense4 yet though.

Gallery app crash
Calendar reminder (all day even time) issue
1.13.651.1

Initial Release
Within about the last 12 hours I just began having issues with Pandora, keeps buffering 0-1% then skips to next song on 3G, works fine on WiFi. Was reading instructions to try fixing it and came across the HTC Software Update option. I thought while I was there I might as well check for updates. Lo and behold, it had one available. I let it install.
Google Wallet app does launch now. I remember when it was originally working I tried tapping on the Google Pre-Paid card and it just got stuck endlessly loading. This time when I tapped on it, it finished loading and now shows $10 remaining. First $10 is on Google and seems to finally be working. Can't wait to try it out.
The fix (wiping app data, uninstall, update PRL, update profile, reinstall Pandora) did not work and neither did the HTC update... Pandora is still broken.

Cant stress enough if you are rooted DO NOT ACCEPT THE UPDATE! You may lose root, s-off and the ability to root again. The dev's will have an updated stock rooted rom within a day or two im sure.
Tried to install; downloads ok, reboots phone, and starts the update. About 1/4 the way through I get an icon of a phone with a Red "Warning" symbol on it
Is it because of root?
I will just be patient in that case as I don't want to RUU

Well I Have Updated My Phone Twice For Sure.
When AT&T sent me this replacement phone I updated it, and on the 27th I got another OTA update and went through the update process again. And my phone is flawless now it doesnt even stutter when I wake it up from sleep now. Maybe I got a special update for having 3 phones in 3 months but my phone is fixed now. AND prior to the update my phone was doing the Sleep OF Death Daily 2-4 times a day. Now im going on a week of flawless use.

Then you just had a run of defective devices. That software version that ends in "c" has been out for weeks. All it was for was to stop a white screen when using the stock LG browser in certain circumstances or something like that. It has absolutely no bearing on your sleep of death problem.
