Tried to unlock the bootloader through HTC's site and got an error code. Since the phone is not release I'm guessing unlocking it is not supported as of yet through there service.

Where did you get a Rezound so early? I want mine now!

nevermind.
Think HTC's bootloader unlock will work or will it need to be hacked off?

I think the HTC site needs to be updated after the phone releases. I took the key I put in the site but the site refused to output a unlock pass file.

If that unlock works ill be psyched. Hopefully kernel source gets released in a timely manner.

Apparently there was a glitch in Verizon's main system that allowed people to pre-order the phones, and it was open for a few days while dozens maybe hundreds ordered the phone. Many people got it with 1 day shipping.
It's been fixed as of today (or yesterday) so no more orders until the 14th.

Slightly larger then a Thunderbolt.

Always thought the 4.3 screen is the perfect size. The hardware looks killer. Why just a 1650 battery? The Thunderbolt came with a pittifull 1400 battery,, bumping it just 250 isn't very much. Maybe they added battery helping software to help aid the battery last longer. We hope, I want this bad ass phone, it has everything. This will be killer with ICS on it.

HTC will not be adding Rezound to unlocked list you can thank Verizon for this.

temp root can already be done, but we need S-OFF to unlock the bootloader to install kernels and ROMs.
I believe it's still possible to install ROM's with S-ON, not exactly sure though. I know you can't install custom kernels, radio's and other good stuff.

There's a lot of other things that lessen battery usage, processor and radio are just a couple to mention.

Have you had any luck? I tried the zegrush method with no success. No errors, but no root access either.

what about the story that was on the front page a few days back? that verizon had to let the galaxy nexus's bootloader be unlocked. would the rezound fall under the category where it would he illegal for them to keep it locked?

Believe me, I would much rather have s-off too, but flashing kernels through fastboot doesn't bug me. I actually use the stock kernel anyway lol.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Thought I'd give my input... If you like waiting for the next update to Revolutionary that's fine, but the HTC Method works fine. Only "setback" is that you have to flash through fastboot. Not really much of an issue. And at that you will only have to do it through fastboot if you are going to be using a different kernel. If by some chance you are going to another ROM that has the same kernel then you won't need to do fastboot.
It works fine, I've run CM7 alpha through this method with no issues. Aside from the somewhat buggy alpha release but that's expected...
So it comes down to your preference. Do what you want, it's your phone. Both methods will work.
use revolutionary now then just revert back to stock and re-run the new revolutionary when it's released.

I used the HTC method and I am rooted and running a custom ROM. Don't see practical differences at this point.
So with HTC method what happens if you run a custom ROM with custom kernel built in like synergys latest nightly. Does it default to stock kernel?

Does the GB or ICS version of JB S-OFF matter? I've always used GB version and not caring about what actual version I'm on my phone.
I just don't flash the HBOOT at the end which is what I assume the different versions mean.

I would include a metronome set to 53 beats per minute. After trying and failing many times, I succeeded first try using a metronome suggested in the JB s-off thread

Also a reminder that after S-off there is no need to unlock bootloader since (let them know to agree to install JB Hboot) JB Hboot allows for fastboot commands and you can just install a recovery via commands.
I even used your Noob tool after s-off to install a recovery.
It looks functional but maybe you should make the ui like yourbother program. Also a great idea would be to find a way to make the program an eye that does not require a folder. A folder is fine but not preferable. It's fine as is but that is all I think it n3ds to be notable.

It will need the folder because the user will need to add files into it.

Nope, this is actually my very first smartphone, unless the BB 8330 I had before it was considered a smartphone. I've been holding out for a worthy contender to the EVO, in comparison to when I purchase and what is the most cutting edge, since I'll be stuck with it for at least 2 years. Having it rooted, and even able to run the 4.2.2 SlimBean ROM, as well as ICS and other JB versions before it, certainly helped me hold out much longer.
Looking forward to how the One treats me. Although, I'm gonna try holding out on rooting it until someone figures out how to unlock the bootloader without it showing that it was unlocked before, if I need to unroot and relock. I've heard that AT&T doesn't allow unlocking the bootloader, so I'd hate to have a problem with my phone, unroot, relock, and take it in for diagnosis, only to be turned away because the bootloader shows a message that it had once been unlocked. Or I might unlock the official way if I discover that someone figures out a way to remove that message.
Sorry about this conversation leading somewhat off topic. I figured I'd post my concerns for deciding not to root immediately, just in case others have similar concerns. Also, someone might come across solutions that address these concerns and decide to share. Let me know if you'd rather the conversation continue elsewhere though.

Dang! I'd really hate to wait another month. I finally got mine. Just waiting for it to finish charging, and then I'll get into the goodies.
Gonna hold off on rooting and flashing a custom ROM though, as I've read of some having speed issues depending on if the ROM bases are international or AT&T. I also read something about picture quality being better on the international, than on AT&T, but I'm hoping that only refers to custom AT&T ROMs and not the stock one. *crosses fingers*
Oh, also, I thought I'd mention another great app that I plan to install as soon as I get my One up and running. It's an advanced voice assistant app for the poweruser or novice, called "utter!"...the most recent version is in a post towards the end of the thread, not the Play Store. It's a great app, with a really great developer!

Btw, anyone having any issues with their speakers popping during YouTube videos, and even in some other apps? I noticed it some in YT vids, but it was the worst when I tried the Smule app "Sing" last night. It worries me that it's a hardware issue, but I've researched online and a significant number of users are having the popping during YT vids and music. No mention of "Sing" though. I just hope that a software update will fix it, considering that I just spent well over an hour applying a full body skin from bestskinsever.com. The plus is that the skin was only about $9+ including shipping, so if I have to get a replacement, it's not too big of an issue.

theres no rooting or unlocking the bootloader for 2.06 but they have a bounty for someone that finds a method.
well that sucks i just got mine and im on 2.06 hell that is the first thing i do when i get a new phone is generally root before i even add google account.
Only way right now is jtag and if you searched before you posted you would know that.

Well a search is what ended me here and it said no root ty. $45 no thanks guess we have to wait.
Your going to be waiting ages an exploit may never be found. If your impatient then just send it off for jtag that's what the majority of dna owners are doing.

I would not say it's a majority sending it off to be jtagged. There are far more users who want to not void their warranty by having it opened up.

I just switched to vzw from being a sprint customer for the last 12 years so its not like i have an extra phone laying around to use while its gone. Iv yet to own a phone that hasnt been rooted some taken longer than others but all have been done. They will figure it out.
I have confidence in our devs they are amazing. I think they will find an exploit and get it down for the rest of us. It's just a matter of time. I'm not really in a rush I actually really enjoy and don't mind stock.

anything new?
Anything new on rooting 2.06?? Is there really no other way (such as using ruu or alternative pc work) to restore to an older firmware which is rootable? There must be SOME way.

If you jtag your device you can revert to the old firmware and unlock and root it. There is no other way.
future?
that sucks. Whats the outlook for a likelihood that they will find a root method for this update? Is it just a matter of time or is it worth jtaging?

Everyone can wait for this phone to be rooted once again , but I would bet that most of the Devs involved have moved on to rooting more in demand phones at this point . I am S-Off , but if I wasnt by now I would have J-Tagged because honestly I wouldnt hold my breath on a Root to be found at this point . I could be wrong but I doubt it , This is just my two cents .
Several devs are still working on it. They are having trouble unlocking the bootloader on 2.04. 2.06 is even harder from what I have read. They have root but its only temp from what I can tell. It won't stick because of locked bootloader.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
Temp root would at least allow us to remove the bloatware, which is one of the bigger annoyances for me. I'll go searching for that information, but if you happen to know where to look, I'd appreciate the link.

Nope. /system is write protected. To the end user(you and me) temp root is all but useless. That's why wasn't released. All it has a use for is finding other exploits/making them work. It's likely that the new s off method starts with temproot.

We have s-off. Just have to wait for beaups to complete and release it.

i just got the dna and im reading that there is no root for 2.06? is that correct? im currently on 2.06 software.if someone did find a way and released a root method can you kindly post a link? thanks

[Kernel][3/17][VZW][4.3] - CleanKERNEL - 1.0 -★| Closed for now! |★-

CleanKERNEL is for one purpose, kick the clock speed up a hair.
This is for Verizon JellyBean ROMS ONLY. Not for the new KitKat ROM's.
Max clock is 1.89GHZ. <- This is the only difference over the stock kernel. Just two lines of code inserted at a specific point. No fancy features, no swipe to wake, etc.. just two frequencies added to the CPU frequency tables.
Not every phone will react the same way to this kernel. Some phones will love it, some phones will over heat and melt. Its highly unlikely your phone will melt but just in case... you have been warned!
Make a Nandroid back up of your entire system before flashing. There is no "undo" button.

I made this for me but figured I would share with everyone. Dont ask for any features. I'm not a kernel programmer (However I did sleep at a Holiday Inn last night!).
This is only for Verizon. It may work on every variant, it may only work on Verizon. I dont know. Flash at your own risk.

I have a Sprint One Max sim unlocked to T-Mobile and I'll test the Kernel to see if it works.
Cool!
Flashed the Kernel to my Sprint HTC One max and seems to work nicely. Great battery life also. Has been on 80% for almost 2 Hours in Standby mode.
Fyi 'flashable' Verizin stock insecure kernel in OP here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=257081
Always good to have files to return to stock before trying new ones.
Edit: *flashable* as in a .img you can flash with flashify or fastboot.
Brought the first kernel to the party. Hopefully that'll get the ball rolling. Thanks scott

To be honest if all he did was edit 2 lines of code to enable a slight OC step that's probably placebo

I would also agree, it should not affect battery life positively or negatively.
The voltages that I used on the the top two frequencies are the same voltages it hits per PVS BIN for the top stock frequency.
So at a minimum you should similar results. Better may be pushing but then you have to look at other factors.
In theory if CPU is maintaining same power draw and is runing faster... The screen may not be on as much as save time by having a faster phone...
So in theory it could be better battery but hard to say. I never even ran the stock kernel for more than 10 hours.
Also another factor to take into consideration is the ROM you are on. If you are CleanROM and CleanlKERNEL, you over all battery will be better than stock.

Seem to have conflicting data but please keep in mind this is not for Sprint. Its only for VZW. Flashing on any other device than a VZW device is at your own risk.

What rom are you running? I flashed this kernel on my Sprint Max and Wi-Fi 2.4 and 5 GHz Still works. Then again, this is a verizon Kernel and every phone is different.
Just flashed on my Verizon max. Working great thanks for this.
Using this and cleanrom on my two Verizon Maxs for over a day now without issue. Thanks!
Good to hear its working well.
I am tempted to go up one more step on the frequency scale.
My old HTC One could do 2.1GHZ all day with no issues. I wonder if this one can?

I'm on viper Rom. And I remember reading somewhere that Sprint/vzn kernels were very similar so I was hoping it might work haha.

The other guy said it was working on his Sprint device.
I'll download the Sprint source and make an identical kernel this weekend for Sprint'ers.

You're great man! thanks!
And yeah, I know this wasn't for my phone, but I figured why not flash it.
And I guess every phone is different. No idea why my wifi wasn't working. I didn't really look into it, I just restored my backup.
