Yeah, what Nits said above. But we haven't seen much real data on it, just what was approved by the FCC - and that didn't give us much.
That's what I'm going off of is the rumors I've been reading. I'm new to HTC so I just got the dna less than a month ago. I asked the reps at the store if there was gonna be a newer HTC released this year and all of them didn't even know the S4 was coming out this year let alone provide info on the dna, haha

I would be surprised if they launched a DNA+ and gave it a smaller screen than the current DNA, such as is on the One. Verizon has to have something up their sleeve, but I have yet to see anything i really think is plausible speculation.

Not a lot of hardware differences between the one n DNA so development would be easy to port.

I can't tell if the reps are really that clueless, or just pretend to be! Last week I was in a VZW store, and I overheard a rep tell a customer that the S4 was "just a rumor"

Well the DNA could just be a rumor in are imaginations and few days from now we could wake up before the DNA was even announced. That being all a dream.

It's called being in sales, and there's a level of dishonesty that they can get away with.
It's really hard to sell an S3 or a DNA when someone believes a better phone is coming out in a month. That's a reasonable amount of time for people to put up with an old phone while waiting for the new hotness.

The goal of the salesperson in the store is to get you to sign a contract before you step out the door. That's it. They can't sell you something they don't have, therefore before a launch (or preorder) the next new phone doesn't exist in the salesperson's vocabulary.
As long as you realize the goal of the salesperson is to get you to sign a contract, then you're OK. Caveat emptor.
Personally I never set foot inside those stores.

Verizon confirmed there is an HTC phone coming out. The HTC DNA has its counterpart HTC Butterfly. What I've read when I look around for the next Verizon HTC phone is that there is a butterfly 2. The next DNA is rumored to keep a 5 inch screen and slightly better internals than the one. Its all rumors of course....

If I had one upgrade it would be the camera. The resolution is fine, but it is incapable of capturing images with any dynamic range. Any light sources turn into a giant white blob.

If I'm not mistaken, the lcd technology is also different. The dna has an lcd 3 and I believe the one is different. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

If I am not mistaken they are both LCD3.
The One has a slightly sharper display due to it being 1080p on a 4.7 inch display as opposed to a 5 inch display. If memory serves me the One has 469ppi and the DNA has 441ppi.

Generally, LG has been great hardware that has traditionally had lousy dev support. That will very likely be different with a Nexus device.

My only question is if they'll have a CDMA version on Verizon. I switched to Verizon from ATT because of poor signal and lack of 3G in my area. T-Mobile is even worse. Verizon is by far the best carrier in my area. If they are only releasing a GSM version, I guess I'll be skipping this one.

To be honest LG for a phone no thank you , would have much rather seen Motorola Samsung ,HTC ,Sony . LG just doesn't do it for me I feel they have been behind the game with smartphones just my opinion . And honestly don't see the big difference between this new nexus and the gnex a little better specs which isn't night and day difference and that's it , my honest opinion and this is my opinion the LG nexus is a joke and like I said that's my opinion .

No difference in specs? way better screen, twice the RAM, better camera, newer gen processor. Specs are a lot better. The kicker will be whether anyone will dev for it. Since it will be stock android, it should run great out of the box, without LG being able to jack it up.
Agreed with everything except wondering if devs will dev for it. Its a nexus so that's a guarantee.

Non-expandable storage is absolutely fatal. If it had 32gb fixed, I could deal with it, but 8gb and 16gb? Sod off. Nice specs, though. If it has a fixed battery that's also a major negative. Need to see more companies taking the maxx approach: make a thin phone, then use the space savings for a huge battery.
What are your thoughts now that we have an official announcement? For me, I wasn't planning on getting this Nexus anyway, and seeing no LTE makes me glad that I'm not in a position to get it this year.
I was heavily upset with hearing that it's currently only a GSM/HSPA+ device..... I am totally down for getting one, if they make a CDMA/LTE version but it's so not worth switching to Tmobile or AT&T... I still have unltd data on vzw
If it had options like 32 or 64 gb I could deal with the non removable battery and lack of lte if i was on tmobile or something.

They've had a few. The Spectrum has almost identical specs as the Rezound.
You all know that douche Dallasskater. He is NOT my friend and never will be. I created an account to prove everything. He was telling everyone that I modified my rez extremely. Which I did but not that drastic. Then he started making it sounding like it was fake and made a poorly Photoshopped benchmark which looked bad.
All I did was make it slcd to slcd 2, upgraded to S4 1.7gh. No I did not upgrade the battery. I just saw a slim battery on amazon which was 1950mh and was for Rez so I bought it. No I did not install imagesense chip which I think he said I did. Mainly SLCD2 and S4 Chip. Also upgraded 2 Gig ram.

I dont know what else to show you to prove. I can show whatever you want to prove I did except open up the phone. I had a hard time unscrewing the device the time I did because the grooves on the screws are bad and don't want to ruin them anymore.

I suggested about a Rezound HD and showed it to rest of HTC but they decided not to and went to the One X+ because the original One X got more sales. I got to keep the prototype since I modded it.
I have a PhenomII X6, 26GB of RAM, the new LG Nexus motherboard and screen INSIDE my Rezound, and it transforms into the new 2013 Porsche Cayman. Also, because Android still sucks even the newest Jelly Bean, I installed iOS6.5 (The new developer beta version of iOS7, unreleased. I actually got this straight from an inside source inside of Apple
I am willing to prove it too, just tell me what you want to see, except for actual pictures. That isn't possible anymore because the phone is also now invisible, after I installed an invisibility cloak casing. Seriously though, I really did these mods. I'm super cool and you guys should all like me.

i had two rezound a i combine the cpu's on one thus making it quad core 1.5ghz overclocked 4.8 ghz,and making camera 16 megapixels.
But why call it a Rezound HD? Working for HTC, you should already know that the Rezound, in fact, has an HD screen already. Does this one you made have beats audio? If not, it's an obvious downgrade.

I love my DNA but in your situation, I'd take the One without hesitation. Although our support is good (to me) the One will get wayyyy more support due to the widespread release and availability. Personally, I'd do it just for those two b*tchin-azz speakers
I have the Droid DNA and played with the One side by side at the announcement a couple weeks ago. The One has alittle more weight to it. The design of the phone is incredible though. The dual front speakers, etc. And you know they will support the One and delay on the other devices as usual. If you trying to get on VZW though I dont think its coming for them. Right now Tmob, Sprint and ATT.
Its the same phone. Depends on what you like to look at.
After the htc one honeymoon period its just a DNA with metal body.
This goes with every new phone coming out this year.

If you're referring to the new HTC One, if i'm not mistaken about its name, then it would probably be the better choice to pick that because it's 'slightly' better. Not to mention global and will probably give you a little more support.
Although if you had to pay more or wait / do anything special for it. DNA would be my choice, they're both so great that it doesn't really make a difference anymore. Storage could be an issue with some people, but not in my case.

Go for the HTC One, it will get more ROM support for a longer time, has improved in every aspect over the DNA, and is HTC's only flagship for 2013, or so they say. The DNA may not go beyond sense 5, while the One will surely go beyond

I also love my DNA and i have had many htc phones last one was the HTC One X which is also a super phone and although the HTC One seems like a great solid aluminum phone its been downgraded to a 4.7 inch screen and the 5inch screen has spoiled me and its great on my hands... I will personally wait to check out the Galaxy S4 that apparently looks back at you and u can control with your eyes

The HTC ONE is a better phone in almost all aspects, aside from a .3 inch smaller screen (which is preference anyways). I don't see a reason to get the DNA over the ONE unless you needed Verizon's network or got a DNA for cheap.

ok guys i make up my mind....i will get another dna because i love the black and red combination.....one is the new flagship but i can get dna without paying anything because i sold my dna with broken digitizer for 500usd....also i live in Greece...europe..so verizon it;s not a deal for me....i like silver htc one but is too expensive for me at the moment...having one x+ right now....today i am gonna post my dna...tried sense 5 and i liked it.....thanks for your help...i know that one is a better device but not too far of course...my dna is running smooth...is not laggy or something...like my sensation xe...so...a new dna would be the best choise for me at the moment.....in the future maybe get that "one" but want to have a hands on first....release date for Greece is around the end of April..so right now i will enjoy DNA!

I dont think you can go wrong either way honestly. The DNA is a stellar phone. Most people believe it's still on par with the S4 if not better then it. I came form a GNexus and I can honestly say that I would rather have the DNA then suffer another day with that phone. lol. The One is going to be awesome if it ever comes to Verizon but I'm personally tired of the games they're playing about it.
its really up to what you want in the end. they DNA is good enough. the S4 is a bit faster but plastic and has 13 mp cam. the One is premium build quality with 4 ultrapx and a hair slower than the s4...I would recommend the One...i ended up getting a DNA like a couple of weeks before One but am still very happy

Well not officially but I don't know how it couldn't.
I went to the vzw store today and messed with the DNA. IMO it feels a lot like my old original incredible. I like the wireless charging. I really want sense 5, but will the DNA ever get that without rooting?
I really need better battery life too. I've got an OEM 2100 battery on my nexus and barely get through a work day with about 90 minutes of talk time and 90 minutes of screen time. From what I'm reading both the DNA and One get great battery life.

We have sense 5 now from Newt etc and the ROM is MINT IMO, The DNA's batt lasts a full day easily. Now that there is a software hack looming you dont have to worry about sending it off for Jtag as well.

I knew there was a Sense 5 ROM out there by newtoroot, but I am wondering if there will be one that comes OTA from Verizon or HTC.

I believe the DNA one of the devices Sense 5 will be rolling out on. The HTC Butterfly, which is essentially the internation version of the DNA, already has an official Android 4.2/Sense 5.1 leak available.
I wonder how long I'll have to wait if I were to hold out for a One or follow up to the DNA. I sure like the button layout better on the DNA than the One. That home button on the right is stupid IMO.

The vzw store had the DNA for $200 on contract. The cheapest one on swappa is listed at $390.

As mentioned the Butterfly has been confirmed to be getting 4.2.2 and Sense 5. So once the Butterfly gets it then the DNA will get it later on. Rumors are possibly with an OTA as soon as August.

The funny part about the one being slower, the s4 snapdragon 600 is overclocked a good amount over the HTC1 and its still only a hair slower shows how HTC > Samsung. Enough said

To add to this, HTC also confirmed that's the next butterfly is coming out 3rd qtr, which means a US version won't be far behind

If you'll be paying Verizon's price, I'd wait out for the One/DNA 2.
Also keep in mind that the DNA has 16gb of memory, while the One comes with 32gb as the base option. I personally would wait a bit longer just for the extra memory.

A "hair slower" is a relative statement. The benchmark differences are exactly what you'd expect from a .2ghz difference, though for real world usage the difference is negligible.
The DNA is great, it's here now, it's marginally different from the One, and it's not very expensive anymore. Especially with the prospect of moonshine S-OFF, which would enable you to get Sense 5 if it doesn't show up in an OTA any time soon, I say go for the DNA.
Verizon just said that the droid devices will be Motorola exlusive now.. so I'm guessing no droid DNA 2

So does that just mean that it isn't going to have the "DROID" branding? I assume that HTC and Samsung wouldn't be very happy if Verizon was going to ditch all other android devices.
So you could have a DNA2, just not a "DROID" DNA2. Right?

yea its the droid branding, not all androids lol. they would be fools to ditch samsung. but we already have the butterfly s (which IS, technically, the droid DNA 2) being released over seas. maybe it will make its way to the US some day

Its more then disappointing that The HTC One is Verizon's next phone! Smaller screen same processor. Basicly just the name being sold.

I still have hope for a US Butterfly S. HTC would be an idiot of a company not to release it to a US market. The question is, will it come to Verizon? The DNA wasn't much of a success on Verizon (but the J Butterfly was over in Japan was), so they might aim for a GSM carrier. OR it may come to sprint as the HTC Evo Butterfly.
Also, I kind of understand Verizon's decision to make the Droid line Motorola-only. The non-Moto Droids have never done well. Read: Droid Charge, and (dare I say it) DNA. The Moto Droids have almost always been top-selling devices. Like the original Droid and its sequels, The RAZR line, specifically the original Droid RAZR Maxx, and the Mini/Maxx/Ultra will likely follow that path.
BTW: I'm stuck with my DNA (and i'm perfectly fine with that) for the next year and a half, so absolutely none of this will affect me until my contract ends in Jan 2015. I personally couldn't care less what happens with the whole Butterfly S/DNA 2 situation, but I understand some of you like to replace your device more frequently (which is perfectly fine) so I'm just adding my $0.02 to anyone who may be interested.

Droid DNA is a great phone don't get me wrong but our family plan has like 3 extra upgrades to blow and my mom, grandma, and my brother don't really use them and use basic phones lol.

Who cares, the new phones don't have much wow factor to make me think the DNA is missing something or is being left behind. And looking at the development, the DNA has a good number of roms and kernels so I don't feel like it is under developed.
The DNA will be running strong for at least three years.
What I don't understand is... We have a 5 Inch, 1080P, Quad Core Android cell phone.. Nobody seems to care? We do!! But it's always about the HTC One, whatever Motorola is coming out with.. and Nokia Windows 8 phones..the next Nexus.. What is Samsung doing?? We have an absolute monster phone that I love yet there was almost ZERO hype behind it.. launched, then .. "Hey, I'm still here, I'm free now" .... Completely agree with you. I firmly believe that the Droid DNA/J Butterfly/DLX is the second most innovative device of the modern mobile technology world. Second only to the Ubuntu Edge. I think the mistake was making this beast a Verizon exclusive. If they had endorsed the DNA the way they did with the One, or how Samsung has done since the Galaxy S2, they could easily blow the SGS4 and Xperia Z out of the water. Don't get me wrong, the One, S4 and XPZ are all great devices, but the DNA could easily rank right up there with them if HTC had really tried. And that's not even mentioning the Butterfly S. Bringing it to the states and endorsing it on all major carriers could set HTC for eternity. It takes the overall greatness of our DNAs and gives it all the things we love about the One (like boomsound). It's pretty much the ultimate smartphone IMO. HTC needs to play smart in the future, or they'll crash and burn. Hopefully the One's success will teach them this.

The butterfly s is the only new phone I'm really looking foward too. I would pick the DNA over any other phone except it. It really solves all of our issues we had with the DNA . The battery is insane now, finally have more storage, and even though our speaker is amazing on the DNA, who wouldn't want boomsound?

And like you said sd card slot, I hope Verizon or htc doesnt screw this up . If it doesnt launch on Verizon I'm probably looking at the HTC one or droid maxx
