Will there be a black T-Mobile HTC One? - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

Just wondering if anyone knows if there will be a black HTC One for T-Mobile.

Rumor says a week after the silver.

Sprint: Available on April 19th in silver and black with 32GB of memory for $199.99 with a two-year commitment.
T-Mobile: Available later this spring in silver with 32GB of memory.
Best Buy: Available with service from AT&T and Sprint in conjunction with wireless operator availability.

I'm sure the black would have more visable scratches than the silver one, so no biggie. I wanted silver anyways since I always get dark phones. Switch it up this time.

Thanks for the info. But ugh. What the hell? Why is T-Mobile always at the bottom of the barrel? What is so complicated about offering both colors, since HTC is making it anyway? (And don't even get me started about the 64 GB thing. Hey let's artificially limit the availability of the more expensive model so that we can make less money by not selling them to people who want them! Yeah, great idea.)

Maybe it's my skeptical nature, but it seems like a lot of tmobile customers receiving the One are seeing quality issues more frequently than in other markets, so I have to wonder if HTC, scrambling to meet demand amid quality control nightmares on the first builds, has a few grades of quality, where ATT gets the better stock and tmobile gets the scraps! I dunno, but I wouldn't put it past T-Mobile to say, 'sure! we'll take the scraps!!"
who knows!

I've been pestering @Tmobile on twitter and their chat reps for about a week now and they always respond "we have no info on that at this time". The silver One seems to be selling well so hopefully they will pick up the black One soon. I'm holding out til maybe june to see if things change before I move on to a different device but I am very prepared to be disappointed.

This has been the same song and dance with HTC since Windows Mobile 6 was "all the rage"... HTC has NEVER released a device that didn't take one or two revisions to get right... And I've owned a ton of them. Never again will I buy an HTC device on launch... Everyone else can beta test for me!

And that's the only one I never had LOL. Everyone said the HD2 was the best phone HTC had ever made. I had the MyTouch 4G and the Sensation 4G and they both were horrendously built...

my sensation i got on release date and it's been fine... ,inus that fall down the stairs

The HTC One is sort of a reincarnated modern version of the Hd2. I love it! I got my tmobile one yesterday and there are no build quality issues. In fact it's better than most people who have been receiving these first batches of ones. All my edges are prestine with no "gaps."
I feel like the tmobike version is a custom unlocked HTC one. My brother has stock fireware on his and it said att for a second while he was using it. I put trickdroid on mine within the first couples hours after receiving the phone.

Um you mean the same song and dance with EVERY manufacturer? It's not a htc thing. The 1st batch of iPhones had QA issues, the 1st batch of GS3's had QA issues. Yes being a early adapter sucks but don't just pick on htc and make them out to be the only ones!

Ugh... I really want the black one! I've had nothing but light colors phones in the past and i am bored of it! I think black looks better on cases.. just my opinion.. we have 20 days to return the device if ordered on tmobile.... maybe somethign will show up..

verizon buying back for $230?!?

talked to a rep in one of the local stores who told me the eris was worth $220-$230 in the verizon buy back program.
well shoot, that could get me 2 droid X's, I'll just keep waiting for the incredible HD... or the HTC Merge... or the Motorola Olympus... so many leaked phones just need to be confirmed by now sheesh.
It tells me $132
http://www.trade-in.vzw.com/
And after playing with the Droid X at work and Fascinate (my actual work phone), and Incredible (a supercharged Eris), I'm going to wait until the next HTC comes out.
Looking for an Evo on Verizon, basically. 4.3" screen, front-facing camera, LTE, aaaaaand I'm sold.
Btw, if this is your first Android phone, try not to get one with a 'skin' on it. Stock 'android' is next in line, Droid's Motoblur is just OK, and the Samsung's software CRIPPLES the phone, is awkward and ugly looking, and isn't even Froyo yet.
I grab my 3.2" Eris more than my 4" Fascinate (fastest processor on market).
Sucks to say.
Wait for the next gen, at the beginning of the year, I bet.

no front facing camera, but that's verizon. verizon does NOT like video chatting for some odd reason, it's why they made the fascinate drop the front facing camera unlike all the other galaxy S series phones.
I'm holding off till February (nexus S coming to verizon then), or waiting to see if the motorola olympus (4g, dual core, 4+inch screen) gets fully rooted, e-fuse chip be damned.
I found the buyback program several days ago, too. I see one small potential problem, what value or devalue will Verizon assign if you have rooted and flashed your phone to another rom?
If you send your phone in and they don't like what they receive, then you can't get your phone returned. I would hate to send in my rooted phone, only to be told sorry your phone was rooted and has no value to us, we are giving you nothing.
I save everything and I have not touched my wife's Droid Eris. Is it possible to reflash the DROID Eris back to the stock rom as shipped before selling it back to Verizon.
Thanks.

Let's say I were still on contract and sent my phone in, would I have to pay the full price on a phone of my choice or could I get the 2 year contract deal? I assume it's likely the full price since I'm already on a 2 year contract.

Only trying will tell for sure, but from what I've seen others report, most likely you would pay a discounted price at least, not the full retail. Possibly even the regular upgrade price if it's a $99+ phone with an upgrade normally.
Ok, I did this so I'll let you know the details.
You can trade in a phone for a verizon credit of 132. This does not get you out of your current contract/get you an early upgrade. I happened to have 3 erises (eri?) crap out in under a year, and if you act irritated to the rep they will probably upgrade you to a D inc. In this case, you got the upgrade because of the phone issues, so you can trade it it.
Long story short, this is nice if you are up for and upgrade, but its not a way out of your current contract.
Hope this helps!
Would they take a phone with a bad ESN? Also heard bestbuy and Walmart have buyback programs, wonder if those are any good...
Sent from my Eris using XDA App
Not sure if they would buy back a phone with a bad ESN.
So to my understanding, you send your device to Verizon and through the course of 30 days they will receive the device verify that it works, send you a gift card for $132 and then you could use that to buy a new phone.
Now the question is, will you have to buy the phone for full retail value then? Do you get your upgrade early and then get the discounted price? Or do you get a discounted price without using your upgrade?
I would seriously jump on this for a more up to date smartphone if it didn't take away my upgrade and I still got a discounted price.
But I think the sad thing is your with out a phone for a maximum 30 days.

Having the gift card wouldn't change the price of anything, so if you would have to pay full retail normally then you would still with the gift card. If you're eligible for an upgrade, then you would be able to get the upgrade price.

*edit* went to my local store, they don't know when this will expire and were shocked that the Eris was worth $132. The person I spoke to speculated that this was to lure AT&T iPhone users for what that's worth.
Worth much less now

Possible release date and price for Incredible 4G LTE

According to Droid Life and with a leaked rebate schedule, we could be getting this as early as this Thursday, May 17th (not holding my breath). With a possible price of $199 and a $50 mail-in rebate which brings the price to $149 (seems too good to be true).

Verizon announced the DROID Incredible 4G LTE last week, but for whatever reason, wasn’t ready to tell us when it would be available for purchase. We have been told by sources that it could show up either this Thursday (May 17) or during the last week of the month. Pricing, we were told weeks ago that it would come in around $149 after rebate, and at least half of that has been confirmed to us today. As you can see in the shot above, the Incredible 4G LTE is highlighted with a $50 rebate next to it. No full price to confirm just yet, but we really are fairly certain that it will come in around the $149 mark.

Considering this phone is being pegged for a mid range device and now reports are it doesn't even have a S4 in it, the price makes sense.

I'll take longer battery life over a meager 3MHz difference in cpu speed. C'mon 1.2GHz vs 1.5GHz -can anyone even notice? I bet the battery life on the Inc4G will be better than any of the One series.

not too mention the rezound with its thickness and overheating issues.
if big red dropped the one series for this phone either, it has to be pretty decent.
im sure they have some other goodies up there sleeves but i will be purchasing this device.
I wonder if this will affect the Incredible 4G as it seems to be doing to the One X and the Evo 4G. Hope not because if it does we might have to wait awhile to get a new device.

I see the HTC Incredible 2 on that list for a 50 dollar rebate...I thought the inc 2 wasn't even being offered anymore, let alone at a price that offeres a 50 dollar rebate? Last time I remember the phone was being offered for .01 cents with a new 2 yr, back around march?

Take this for what it's worth, but I was just in a local Verizon store getting a new screen protector for my Thunderbolt and talking to the salesman about how much we like HTC phones. I asked about the Incredible 4G, and he asked me if I was going to upgrade. I asked when it might be coming out, and he said he was just talking to his Verizon rep earlier that day, and that it would be available "soon - very soon". I casually asked if I should come back Thursday, and he just said "yup" without making eye contact...

Free Sprint case

Well I had pre-ordered my HTC EVO 4g LTE like everyone else and waited for it to arrive on 5/18/12!
When I got the email that it was delayed I was kinda disappoimted, but what could I do other then sit back and wait. So it finally came yesterday. Opened up activated it and was over the saddening fact that it didn't come when it was supposed to. So I started to wonder what sprint was going.to do for all the people that waited like a lost dog staring out the window on 5/18 just to find out that they weren't getting there doggy bone. And just then ding dong (well who the hell is bothering me when I'm setting up my new EVO)its the UPS guy with a package? Confused ? I didn't order anything. Open the package like the little dog that might have just gotten a bone in the mail. And it was, a free gel case from sprint, and a letter of apology. Now this might not be a great apology, and they didn't even ask what color I wanted but its a great gesture. And its blue I like blue. Thanks sprint.

Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
The only other color I've seen aside from the blue is a black version that was shown at CTIA. There is a red one I saw but it looked more like one that snaps on the back instead of fitting around the phone like this one does.
I haven't seen them online and Sprint obviously has them, they just haven't shipped them to stores. My experience on Thursday trying to find a case in a Sprint store, I went to two different locations and they both had different cases, none of which I liked. One store did have a black silicone similar to this one though for $15. But I'll take the blue official one and see if I can find something else. (The blue grows on you.)
It sucks that people who did not order directly form Sprint do not get one, even though we waited too. Or do we?

Not to sound negative, but no one other than Sprint knows the true answer to that, but I'd say probably not. The thing was, ordering through Sprint online was supposed to get everyone who did the phone earlier than everyone else. So they did something they didn't have to because they are trying to work on their customer service and public image. Now everyone who ordered through Best Buy, Wirefly and the like where raving about how they were saving money or getting a giftcard and what not. Well yes they will still get those things which should be better than getting a free case since that's what drew most people to them; whenever they get stock to send to them. Perhaps the companies everyone else ordered with may do something as a nice gesture as well. The only other people I see Sprint possibly doing this for are people who have pre-orders in store. They may allow the staff to let them choose between a couple cases to get one for free.

The customer has the option to order from whatever site/store they wish to. It's competition. Because I ordered from Best Buy or anywhere else should not disqualify me for a free case IMO. Sure I saved a lot of money and people who ordered online on Sprint did not. If the savings led me to buying at BB, so be it. Why shoot down the smart shopper?
In the apology letter it says "want to thank you for your patience as we know you have been anticipating the arrival of your new HTC EVO 4G LTE". It's referring to the delay, which those BB customers were part of too. If the cases are only being shipped out to the customers who pre-ordered online on Sprint, which it is, it should've specified that reason.
Excuse my bitterness. I'm upset because there is no LTE.
Correct, it is referring to the delay in general but if you didn't buy it from them don't expect them to give you something. If you bought it from elsewhere Sprint and HTC doesn't have to reward you for your patience because you didn't buy it from Sprint even if you are under their contract now. Now if Best Buy wants to give you a free case or WireFly or where ever you purchased it from to say thank you for your patience then it is up to them to do such. But they most likely will not because they already gave you whatever savings you got. You can not expect one store to give you something when you bought something from another. That's the whole point of having options as you say isn't it.
e.g. lets say you buy something from amazon because it's cheaper than best buy but then best buy turns around and gives the customers who bought it from them something extra that they didn't have to. You can't expect Best Buy to give it to you as you didn't buy it from them. And while I know you will say it says Sprint and HTC you have to look at it as a retailer POV.
I understand where you are coming from, I'd probably still be upset if I didn't have my phone yet. I am looking at it from a retail POV rather than the company you have your service with. Even though it states Sprint and HTC, it's Sprint as in the store you just made your purchase from and not Sprint as in the company you have cell service with.

And because you chose to let a third party cut into Sprint's profits on the phone they don't have to send you a case. If HTC works something out with the retailers like it did with Sprint then great, but otherwise leave it to the company selling you the phone to give you something not someone else.

I love it, I hate it....I'm still using it.
I might use it until power skin makes a product for the evolte
I didn't get a case, what gives? I didn't order online, I called Sprint directly. I don't think that should make a difference.

Did you order it before 5/17? If so i would think it would be otw. Could also call them see what's up. All in all tho its only a $5-$10 case. It also seems to be random what color or kind you get. May also be running low on supply. Not sure how many pre-orders they had. Doesn't hurt to call them and ask.

Whats everyone think if the free blue case?
I like the quality alot as compared to the $5 case I bought on ebay
I wasnt a fan of the color at first but now its growing on me. The blue I won't be using at work becuase its less professional but its a great casual case
I'm currently waiting for the seidio surface with holster to arrive
Also I have a flygrip that has arrived but I'm waiting to see what case to put it on.

Droid DNA on AT&T HSPA+

I know it won't work on the LTE network, but will it at least work fully on the HSPA+ network like a Nexus 4 would? I'm planning on getting one or the other and using it on Straight Talk (via AT&T)
The Droid DNA will work on AT&T gsm and 3g. It does not have the same theoretical download speeds of the nexus 4 however. The nexus 4 supports up to 42Mbps, AT&T provides only up to 21Mbps and the Droid DNA only supports up to 14.4Mbps. But on an AT&T network, the speed difference shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks a lot. I'm sure I won't need anything more than 14 Mbps (assuming any network will do that consistently before I change phones).

Yea I saw it but it doesn't show if it was on HSPA or HSPA+, nor does it tell what the maximum speed is (which the above user posted)
You guys would probably have great luck if you checked ebay or something after the official release. I know its gonna be an epic phone.....but all bias aside, a lot of people are hating on it and will dislike it for some stupid little reason. And because its not quite as main stream as I personally believe it should be, you should be able to pick one up for somewhere around 350~400 in brand new condition I would think. Thats only because you konw as well as I do that its just a phone that everyone and their mom isn't gonna be out to get.
That's just my honest opinion......I personally would be willing to pay 800 for it if I had to, I love the phone!!

350-400, may be 8 months from now.
AT&T users are better off waiting for the international version to be released. It'll support HSPA+ 21MB and possibly even 42MB. It will also most likely be modeled after the J-Butterfly so it will have removable storage. It also won't have VZW's insane bloatware and you'll get updates directly from HTC. Importing one though will probably be more than the $600 VZW is charging off contract.

So (price aside) you'd rather buy a device that won't perform as well and has fewer features rather than waiting a couple of weeks? Evleaks are the ones who posted the Droid DNA press shot leaks and the device was announced three weeks later. They're also the ones that posted the Deluxe press shot. So if history repeats itself you'll know more by the end of the year. For something that you'll own for probably a year waiting a couple of weeks doesn't seem like a bad idea. How will you feel using a hobbled DNA (VZW borked the settings toggle for the soft button so it behaves like the OG One X did initially) on AT&T if a better version of the same phone's available a month or two after you buy it? 21+MB HSPA and expandable storage aren't trivial features. HTC's in bad financial shape and needs to grow revenue. They aren't going to be coy about getting new high-end devices to market as soon as they are ready. And with the J-Butterfly and DNA shipping the hard stuff's already been completed. Also if you're interested in development the international Deluxe will have far more XDA support than the DNA. Look at the current AT&T XL dev section compared to the OG One X.

Perhaps not, but the price of importing it will be expensive and few will actually do that. AT&T is never going to get this phone. Period. Verizon only Droid brands phones it has US exclusivity on and AT&T has the One X+, there's no reason for them to carry it right now. And if someone really wanted this phone with costs considered the One X+ is where they would end up.

Pure conjecture. There's a variety of levels and reasons why some devices have more dev support and others.

Who said they were? But for people that can afford a $600 non-subsidized device paying an extra $100 (WAG) to get one that works better on their network doesn't seem irrational. There are quite a few people in the OG One X forum from the U.S. they paid more than $600 to import their phones; myself included. Even more from the U.S. have done the same thing with SGS3 and Note II. Part of paying the extra $'s over just getting a subsidized phone is receiving updates directly from HTC, using all their features (Watch, Hub, Locations, etc.) as they intended, no carrier molestation of the h/w or s/w, and tethering. Using a phone dependent on one carrier for updates on another carrier's network kind of defeats the purpose; especially at $600.
Pure conjecture.

First, there's no doubt after what VZW pulled with their version of the SGS3 that the DNA is going to be locked down like a fortress. HTC only unlocks carrier devices through HTCdev with the permission of the carrier. Which way do you think VZW will lean? That, and the fact it's only offered on one network (albeit one of the world's largest) don't seem like a recipe for a big dev community. Especially if a more open better featured international version is announced this year (which I agree is pure conjecture).
I'm not trying to tell you or anyone else what to do. I'm interested in the Deluxe and just sharing my thoughts on it vs. the DNA.

The One, Its bootloader, AT&T, and me.

Has anyone said definitively the One's bootloader will be unlockable on HTC Dev, no matter the carrier? The One X was an amazing device, ruined by a horrible carrier. I want one, but only if it can be unlocked. I've scoured the internet and can't find anything other than links to HTC dev for bootloader unlock, but as we all know, HTC bowed to AT&T's wishes and the One X STILL can't be officially unlocked.
I haven't seen anything either, but I don't expect that to change since it's more of an AT&T policy than a manufacturer's call. And HTC needs all the carrier support it can get in the US right now so I'm sure it will be. However, I do know the AT&T One X+ can be unlocked even though it doesn't specifically state that on the HTC Dev page.
Regardless, you can get S-Off on the One XL now if you're willing to go for it so I wouldn't be too concerned. As for the One, ff AT&T won't let HTC let you unlock it, someone around here will figure out how to do it anyway.
Have you guys even bothered looking in the dev section? There's already a few people unlocked and rooted.
At&t hasn't released yet. I wanted to know if anything has been said regarding carriers restricting the unlock. What's out there now is irrelevant.

Its not unlockable, AT&T have blocked it again. It may get overturned as of last year but the reason for the developer addition was to get around this issue.

Typical - But I'll still put my faith in the folks around here to be able to work around that. Maybe not right away, but it will happen. The real trick would be S-Off, but that will take a while longer I assume.

If you look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2223236 you see there are 3 variants of the One. IMO the AT&T version should be the same as a EU version as far as I can tell, so it should be able to unlock without issues.

That's why I buy all my phones from the UK (clove) and have them shipped into the states. I really hate dealing with AT&T and there b.s.
I can't decide if I should cancel my AT&T pre order and get the Developer edition.
GUNNY! Great question. I moved to the x+ and forgot about that. You can bet if AT&T one cant be officially unlocked on day 1 its goin back. I won't deal with that bs from AT&T again. That's what ruined development for the AT&T one X. And yes the att X+ was unlockable from day 1.
And of course it's not in the dev section yet...that's because it hasn't been released.... Smh.
I don't think you can trust what any htc rep or AT&T rep says...learned that dealing with the HOXL. Just have to wait and see.
---------- Post added at 05:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:37 PM ----------
Gunny I'm glad you brought this up. It opened my eyes. I just canceled my pre order from ATT. I actually think i made out like a fat rat! They charged my credit card $750 bucks for the phone because i called in to order it, couldnt order from the business side online at early launch. She said she had to charge me full price that was in the computer and would credit me the difference. So she credited my wireless account $75. Nothing was mentioned about that at cancellation so maybe that will stick Also they said that the free HDMI thingy was for 2 year contract customers so they didnt add to my order. I complained so they sent one out free. It's already shipped. So i'm getting an unlocked dev edition for $649, a $75 credit to my wireless account and a free HDMI gift Anyone know what the best US insurance company is? That's the only disadvantage, no ATT insurance. Gotta call and remember to cancel the ONE X+ Insurance.
And to make things better, it's possible i get it even sooner than the ATT.

The Dev edition isn't shipping on Monday. It's a glitch their system. Mine was shipping on Friday until Friday passed. Customer service said the shipping date is the 18th. As of Friday, they didn't even have stock. Hopefully it ships sooner but I'm not expecting it.
Also, as said in previous posts, if your worried about a locked bootloader then buy the Dev edition. If you buy AT&T branded, then be prepared to live with the BL being locked. Not much room to complain since HTC is giving an option. For those that are signing a contract, you could always sell and order the Dev edition. That is if it's still available.
