[Q] BootLoader status Changed After JB Update - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

I have a problem, which i have just now found out, Before the Jelly Bean update my Xperia P's Bootloader unlock status is allowed ie YES( i checked it myself and also installed cm9 for sometime), but after the update when i tried to unlock bootloader i couldn't do that, when i checked in service menu i found that Bootloader unlock status has changed to NO, how could this happen, pls someone help me to unlock my bootloader.
Does any one facing the same problem?

u r nt alone.. someone else too reported this... why dun u check it ... just flash back ics and see whether it changes or not
Sent from my Xperia U using Tapatalk 2

is there any way to make it allowed in JB itself?

In my Xperia Go, the Bootloader Unlock status was NO. However, I took the chance and did it anyway. I just followed the instruction to unlock the bootloader and voila! Now the phone's bootloader is unlocked. The only downside is that the phone's data seems to have reset. I don't know whether that was supposed to happen, but I can flash custom kernels now, so the bootloader truly is unlocked.

I didn't do anything special. Like I said, I just took a chance and did it. I have no idea why it worked even though the bootloader unlock status said NO. My phone's unbranded. Maybe Sony slipped up.

Should work the same, just if you get replaced device back, then IMEI is different.

i know that the imei is different if i got another device, but if i got same device can i enter same cod i use firs time to unlock bootloader?
Yes, code stays the same then.
Are you sure? If we're talking about BL unlock, isn't the code calculated based on the IMEI? So, if you get a new phone (different IMEI) then code should be different...

It doesn't matter you officially unlocked your bootloader or not. You can relock it by flashing that .FTF file by flashtool containing loader file and regain access to sony services, only trackid isn't working after relocking the bootloader. you can also fix that by installing walkman mod with DRM files provided by ThilinaC..

i don't know will you get back your warranty or not if you have shown your phone at service center in UNLOCKED bootloader state, may be sony registers your IMEI for out of warranty but if you havn't shown your phone to service center in unlocked state then of course you will get back your phone's warranty. I tried this on my LWW and hence saying this with personal experience.

As far as I know, you won't get back your warranty.
1) they ask for your IMEI number while you are unlocking bootloader only, and I suppose this is for tracking purpose
2) when I was unlocking my devices bootloader, I had read in the faq section of the guide that it's not possible to get back warranty because even if you lock the bootloader again, bootloader status will be shown as re-locked (not "locked" as it originally was) so the Sony people will know you've messed around with your phone

1. They ask your IMEI not for tracking, its for generating unique unlock code of your device.
2. Where did you see your bootloader status as RE-LOCKED, as far as i know after relocking, flashtool says "Bootloader status: Rootable" not relocked and if you see in phone's service menu(*#*#7378423#*#*), it shows "Bootloader unlock allowed : Yes"
and i had given my phone on service center for some hardware issue after relocking BL and was solved.

FastBoot OEM lock-Orange

Hey, just like the topic, do you have any advice?
I would add that:
-Button fastboot is locked
-I can not unlock the bootloader
The phone was purchased in orange the same hence the lock

If you have bootloader unlock = no in service menu, there's no known way to unlock it -- some claim you can after getting it SIM unlocked, others say it doesn't help...

Yes,I send it on service repair because I corrupt bootloader.
Then Sony replaced it with clean one and much faster NAND memory.
You will lose phone for a week but hey,you will get faster and unlocked phone.

1: Sell the phone and buy the same but with the ability to unlock the bootloader

$100 to anyone that figures out how to root a Sony Z2 with locked Bootloader

I bought this device in Canada, The provider is Bell.
My bootloader is locked. And following the Sony steps.. It says it won't unlock.

All my favorite apps won't work properly without root.
If anyone figures a way to root it.. I'll give you $100.

Flash totaly stock kernel

$100.... it's sounds good? Okay from my experience I bought my XperiaZ from Australian Telco before and it said Bootloader unlock allowed:No
but when I flashed official generic ftf using flashtool. It's said Bootloader Unlock allowed:Yes. So if you can take a risk try it(do it by your own! and don't forget to back up!)... you might try to do that. Luckly my XperiaZ2 is bootloader allowed one. Hope I have a chance to get 100bucks

This is very dangrous, this depends on the contents of the FTF and i wouldent recoment this at al
Have you tried flashing the German DE generic FTF, i think it has stuff for the TA partition
This may do your job
I still dont recomend, do this at your own will if you know how to unbrick a device
Although i would try it but only because i know how to unbrick a xperia (lol this part usualy takes a while)

I noticed him that it must be done by his own.... But he asks us to is there are anyway to do that? so I just posted the way I did.
I am not recommending him to do that.... I just simply answered his question. Always flash ftf w/o TA and partition.
It is recommended everywhere and If once he started to searching about flash tool it is warned by everyone.
You can't back up TA partition w/o root. So I don't think there is any way to get XperiaZ2 to back to completely stock.
(Although i would try it but only because ←What does it mean? It doesn't make sense for me.)
Well, I tried to flash the stock FTF.. same version as my devices. It errored.. and I am now bricked.
You can't modify an FTF and flash it to a bootloader locked device, modifying it will break Sony's signature verification
I'm guessing there's no way to unbrick?

As EnviousData warned you too.... even I did not recommended to do that.... dear....

Honestly i say keep your $$$ and wait for a exploit or root method of sorts
Me and my FTF will be a while and Z2 Development has started very slow and may be a while before anything of the sorts comes avaliable
I suggest if you realy want to root try exchanging your device for an unlocked one (or unlockable :/)

Yes if it's a sim free network unlocked device not locked down by a network/carrier and its supported by Sony for unlocking. Phones that come locked to one network are usually not bootloader unlockable. I was referring to locked Bootloader root, on mm it looks like it's a thing of the past from now on
*#*#7378423#*#* enter into the dial pad and in software configuration I think it is it will say
Bootloader unlock allowed: yes or no, if it's a yes no problem get the code from Sony via email and unlock(it voids the warranty though), if it's a no you won't be rooting it.

Make sure my Xperia is off and OEM unlock in developer options is on, also once the drm/ta keys are gone on unlocking there's no getting them back as there's no way to back up ta keys currently on our devices before unlocking which is why I'm waiting for now.

You are almost right. The only part I disagree with its that you said it will not happen any time soon. While dm-verity make it impossible to modify the system and permanently root it, if a proper exploit is found (which happens almost every month) the system can be temporarily rooted. When that happens, the TA partition can be backed up and the bootloader can be unlocked for permanent rooting. That's actually how z3+ is rooted.

You really make me laugh!! Almost one exploit by month ?! The exploit used in Z3+ was discovered in 2014 (the one used by Kingroot) !!! And patched since 3.18 kernel. Since when dm-verity on Marshmallow was beaten without downgrading to an old exploit on Lollipop?? Can you prove me that's possible to dump TA in MM. Answer me just to laugh a little more :good: See you next month for a new exploit
For me aidy.lucas is fully right!

Hi,
I purchased a F3213, single sim that was carrier locked, no way of unlocking the bootloader.
So after hours of searching, found a fellow in England who offered me a tool to make the phone bootloader unlock ready.
The Phone now works with another carrier, if i unlock the bootloader will i loose the DRM keys?

Unlocking it to work on a different network still won't make the bootloader unlockable. If it's been locked down by a carrier/network it'll stay locked even if the device will now work on any network.

If you can unlock bootloader, root is possible. Download the rootpack for your model and follow the guide for XA, read comments if needed. Read carefully the "unlock bootloader" part to be aware of what it does.
So if I root my F3213, does this allow me to get rid of all the crapware Sony put on there? Or will I need to flash a custom ROM in order to do that?

You don't need to flash a custom ROM to remove most of the system applications. If you have root you can use Titanium Backup to eliminate those unwanted apps.
I haven't rooted yet and just using the disable function in the settings/apps I've gotten rid of almost everything except the What's New thing. With that I just blocked the notifications and it doesn't bother me.
Hey guys. I have a question. It seems that in sony's android MM version, microsd cards can't be used as internal storage. I had in other rooted phone the Link2SD app just to expand my internal storage. On XA Ultra we get only 10Gb free, no root no unistalling trash apps, sooo, any way to expand it via sdcard until root is available?

MM have a feature called Adoptable Storage, you can find guide on Xda. Simple way is to use "root essentials" app on rooted device or with ADB command on not rooted device.
