You can try this. Worked for me on several different AOSP and Samsung Touchwiz roms.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117452

I've had trouble using any of the hacked versions consistently (AOSP and TW), but I found an alternative app in the Play store that works really well for me: Enhanced Email. While the Play store version costs $9.99, there is a 7 day trial version available in their forums to see if it meets your needs. The biggest benefit is that you don't need to re-hack the client every time you upgrade your ROM; it "just works" straight from the Play store. I wish it had a tablet layout for my Archos, but other than that it works great.
I am not affiliated with Enhanced Email or its developers in any way!!! I am merely a satisfied customer sharing a potential solution.

Google Chrome to be the default browser for Android in Ice Cream Sandwich?

Hey every one I read a article this morning that was on the app Appy Geek but was originally posted on Tech Radar. But the article says.
A snippit of code posted on Google's Chromium Code website reveals Google's Chrome web browser is to be ported to it's Android smartphone operating system.

Here is a link to the article, Chrome finally coming to Android?
Now I think this might just make a pretty significant change to Android and the user experience with Android. I also think it is about time Google made Chrome part of Android, that is if this turns out to be true with the release of Ice Cream Sandwich.
What is your opinion about this? And any links to other articles about this would be awsome.
Edit: I decided to do some more investigation on this subject. Below are some more articles that discuss this topic. From what I have found so far we will know for sure about this and if it will just be a app or the new default browser.

Doubt it is going to happen anytime soon, but I love chrome and cannot wait for it to be ported to our phones.

I don't know about that now cause the article also says this.
Expect to see the official announcement at Samsung Mobile's Unpacked 2011 event in San Diego on 11 October - which is where we're also expecting to see the unveiling of Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest iteration of Android, and the Google Nexus Prime.

I also added a link to the article in the first post..
It's definitely a possibility, the Logitech Revue already uses Chrome.........I'm using it right now!
I have no real issues with the stock browser apart from its inability to download all files out the box.
Would be cool to see what They come up with tho, the firefox android version was pretty pants imho
I like the default Android browser, heck I have never even tried another internet browse for Android cause it is a very functional browser to me. Now when I was using Windows Mobile on my HD2 I tried several different browsers on it cause Internet Explorer just was notfor me.
Now having said that I do have two things I do not like about thedefault browser. One is the URL address box does not stay at the top of the browser pagewhen you scroll down. And the little icons you use to highlight text to copy and past or whatever you want to do with it does not really work that great. Even on my Acer Iconia A500 tablet, which I am using right now.
Shamless LOL
I added some more links on this topic to post #1, and this is a shamless BUMP!
I use Chrome everywhere now, except my phone, but I did think that the stock Android browser was based on Chrome. Am I mistaken in that assumption?
As for a fully fledged, actually called "Chrome", browser on Android, that just smacks of win!!! Especially if you can sync with the desktop version
Edit: Incidentally, I used to think the stock Android browser was the best available, after trying all the Market available browsers, but now I'm on MIUI and the browser is just amazing! (I do still want Chrome though )

If Chrome comes to Android, there will likely be minimal change compared to the current browser. They're both based on WebKit, so the backends are identical. The only possible change I could see is to the UI, which is minimal on the phone side. Maybe we'll see proper tabbed browsing, like what's in Honeycomb.

Yeah that is like one of the main reasons I personally would like to see Chrome on Android. I have a Acer Iconia A500 and I love the tabs on it. They make using the browser so much smoother and user friendly to me.
One of the articles I read today was talking about just this point. I can not remember if I posted a link to it or not in post #1. But remember the browser in Honeycomb is themed to look more like Google Chrome bit it is still basically the same browser as the phone OS under it all. Point being this ICS is suppose to combine Gingerbread and Honeycomb into one OS. Also if Chrome or even a Chrome themed. Browser is intergrated into the Android OS it will be a pretty big change as the better internet browsing experience will help make Android more appealing to users.
I think this is a great idea, ICS with chrome. I just hope it will be fast!
wah nice if chrome is the default browser in ICS
The android stock browser is not bad, but it's only not bad,no more.
And It's not based on chroome, but it has webkit like chrome

How did the beta testing go? Any beta testers reading have any news to share?
i'd love to know as well as i tried the demo a few months ago and it obviously wasn't optimized (i think i got around 11fps). I was seriously considering getting this if the developer updated more.
I want try this app!
Hi,
can we just try the beta please? we are 2 french developpers and we are developing a game for a school project. We need to make a gameplay video of the game and we have no applications to make it.
You will be very helpfull if you give us a try of your application.
Thank you
Hey.
I used to use this on my DHD and was perfect. I have just rooted TFP and really would like this app on it.
How did the Beta testing go? Will there be a market upgrade soon for Tegra 3 Devices?
Thanks!

Loooking for quick office HD

Can thiIS this app be installed over AOKP? if yes, does anyone have the APK? it was included in the task rom...can i just pull it out from there?
This is no warez forum...
the OP simply might not realize that it's warez, though. After all, it came free with the stock ROM and it's also included in Galaxy Task since that is based off of the stock ROM.
but yeah, to OP: this is considered warez and is a no go on these forums. Think of it as part of Samsungs touchwiz package. Since you decided to go pure android, you decided not to use Samsungs horrible UI but you have to live with Quickoffice not being free. Use whatever means you like to obtain it, but don't tell us ;-)

didn't realize its warez, on the samsung based rom it was included, but not fully registered.
anyway consider this thread closed, i'll just purchase the app...thanks for informing me
*cough, can't as taiwan blocked play store apps.....wish they can consider pay pal
I have quick office, docs2go, but have recently been using "cloud on". I definitely recommend that as I'm finding it as functional as the other two. It's also free!
but cloud on also requires another registration and username. I installed it, was asked to register an account and instantly uninstalled it. I'd even assume that it therefore requires an online connection to be usable, but that was just an assumption as I didn't even want to bother with another account that I'll probably never use anyways, given that I have a pretty nice sollution already pre-installed on my tab.

Well, download tasks ROM, use a root explorer to extract the apk from system/apps, then sideload that apk on your new(er) rom.
OR
When on tasks ROM do a titanium backup of ALL apps, save the backup folder, flash a new ROM, install from the backup
If your original stock ROM came with the same gimped version, I do not think retrieving it this way is unethical. My tab came with polaris office though, didn't know other countries came with something different.

Task14 is based off Honeycomb, while AOKP is working with ICS. It's a crap shoot if QuickOffice will work on it. Good Luck!
I purchased quickoffice and have it running on my Desire (gingerbread), stock tab 10.1 (honeycomb 3.2), AND I purchased it for my Son who is running it just fine on his transformer prime (ics).
In short, buy it and you will not be dissapointed, it will work on ics, and unlike the gimped freemium / bloatware version that shipped with your tab a purchased version will see regular updates.
The main point, the purchased version runs great on gb, hc, and ics.

Twitter/Facebook clients with custom columns?

Ok. So up until now I have been using TweetDeck (or rather TweakDeck -- it's improved counterpart) and I guess I can still use it for a bit but Twitter has announced that the Adobe Air, Android, and iOS versions will be discontinued and will be removed from their app stores by May. There isn't a chance that just keeping the apk around will suffice though because apparently the app relies on depreciated APIs as well. What I'm looking for is a Twitter/Facebook client that will support custom columns to be added. I had 3 on mine. One for a work feed with very little activity (they post very specific updates) and a couple of other people that I want to watch that would of gotten lost in the noise of my news feed otherwise. I'm not finding any clients other than TweetDeck/TweakDeck that provide this. Can anyone provide me with any suggestions?
Thanks.
Source (app being discontinued): http://tweetdeck.posterous.com/an-update-on-tweetdeck
P.S. - I'm willing to take a Twitter only client with the custom columns since I only used it on that end but it becomes a pain since I've already gotten into a trend of reposting some twitter items onto my facebook profile for visibility and having just one app makes it easier.
Plume is worth checking out
You could try Ubersocial for Twitter.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.twidroid&hl=en
It has the ability to cross post to facebook as well.
This is a very good app, and is my go-to app for the twittersphere.
Trying Plume and Scope right now, and I believe I've tried Ubersocial in the past
Any app that lets you have one unified timeline that displays both Twitter AND Facebook posts at the same time? Plume wants them to be separate columns, and Scope wants to add additional 'social content' from places like Reddit, The Verge, and ThinkGeek into my timeline
All horrible
I've tried the following:
HootSuite
Plume
Scope
and they are all terrible. They contain much too much crap, they all want me to register with THEIR service (I need more accounts like I need a hole in the head), but worst of all, they don't allow me a single-column view of both Facebook and Twitter. Arguably the best feature of TweetDeck/TweakDeck. Also, they all have ads, and they're all annoying.
I honestly don't know what to do. I've been searching for a client ever since the original announcement, but I haven't been able to find anything. At this point I'm considering just writing my own. I'm not going to say "how hard can it be?", but as a software developer by trade, it's not just idle speculation. I think the hardest would be getting the Twitter and Facebook APIs in line. No ads, no registration, no bull****.
Edited to add: Mind you I don't *want* to have to do this, so any suggestions would be preferable.
Yeah, Plume seems like the best alternative, and it lacks significant features. I can't see every column status all at once, can't customize individual column notifications, and can't add users to their own column. May have to add requests to their support page. But I'm just using TweakDeck until it stops functioning. Apparently Facebook has already stopped working, so I haven't even seen Facebook updates for awhile. Lol. Hate when there's not that one perfect solution.

I still see facebook updates in TweakDeck. Occasionally, on the desktop version (0.38.2), the facebook updates won't come in, but a restart or two (of the application) usually solves that.
Bump. Anyone find any good clients that allow custom columns? The next best thing I've found so far is Scope Beta.

So Tweetdeck stopped working for everyone, right? Want to make sure, cause I don't want to let go. Lol. Thought it was supposed to end in May, so at least I got a couple more months out of it. Will have to try Seesmic. Didn't stack up when I tried it a couple years ago. Hootsuite looks good, but still can't find one that adds a single user's timeline *and* per-column updates.

I'm looking for this exact same thing too! After TweetDeck stopped working, I immediately Googled and found TweakDeck, which is basically the exact same thing. Worked great, until the past week or so. Guessing it's dead again, but this time I didn't have any luck finding a good copy.
So yeah, I'll try that Scope Beta out, is it on PC too perhaps?

Unfortunately there's no desktop version. But I think TweetDeck for desktop is still up. I think only the Android version is dead. I don't think the desktop version of TweetDeck allows for custom Facebook columns though.

Ah yes my bad, Desktop version still works, very nice. I was just using a very outdated version.
Haven't tried Scope yet on Android, all I want is the lists tbh, I don't use facebook colums or so. I just want a much better overview of all the people I follow, and I'm currently doing that with lists.

If you want just Twitter lists then Plume is your best bet. It's what I've been using. It works like a dream and allows you to have columns for your lists. It's also got a nice clean modern UI.

[MOD][XPOSED][AOSP] Return My Enter Key (in SMS/MMS)

This module replaces the smiley key with the enter key in message fields of AOSP's SMS/MMS app by altering the input type field of the app's message fields, the same way srelyt's SMS Xposed module does.
It should work with any 4.x rom that uses the stock or only slightly modified AOSP SMS/MMS app and with any keyboard that decides to show the smiley key based on the text field.
Download: Xposed Repository or attachments, source only in attachments
I created this module because CM11's SMS/MMS app's function to show the enter key instead of the smiley key didn't work on my phone. Having found SMS Xposed, I didn't like how it messed with the SMS notifications, taking away the action buttons that were already implemented in CM11. Hence I decided to take a look at the only feature I wanted from SMS Xposed and write this standalone module.
While I created it only for myself and will only update it when it becomes necessary for me, I still wanted to share it in case it helps anyone else.
Enjoy!
Tested and working,
Oppo Find 7 QHD, running CM12.
This is such an important module, the missing enter key was so damn annoying!!!!!

While I originally didn't plan to expand and maintain the app further than I need it myself, I'm curious whether I can work out how to do it. Since Google's Messenger app is closed source, I'll need to learn a bit more about how to create Xposed modules, but as soon as I have the time, I'll look into it. Depending on how difficult it proves to be, I might even implement support for more apps than that upon request.

Nice module there. Weird thing is it actually worked for me once, then after a few hours I tried again and it didn't work anymore. The msg doesn't send by pressing the enter key. Instead, it will send when I hold the enter key and select "prev". Any idea how to fix that?
