Transferring all data from S3 to S4 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there an easy way to do this? I tried Kies but could not find the option to do this.
Please help.

Titanium Back Up and restore is the best way. Rooted though!

Rom tool box pro is good too to back up your stuff if needed!
shalom to you!

Thanks for the replies. But the user doesn't want to root his device.
This is not mine. Any option to transfer it without rooting?
Edit: This is not mine as I will not make the same mistake ever again!
Take that Samdung?

Phew! I actually thought you had bought a Lagdung S4!
What a relief

Hey you could try to use Samsung Switch. I believe it's made for transferring data from and to Samsung devices. I think it's downloadable in Google Play.

This is the best way! And I am speaking from experience, works flawlessly and you can backup to external SD if you want to. Since you are not rooted, you need to use the PC app as well, after that, you can backup as if your phone was rooted.

With that Smart Switch app from Samsung you just have to download it on your S3 and new S4. Then let each others' backs touch, and everything will be transferred via wifi direct which is very fast.

Thanks guys for the recommendations. Here are my take on these:
Samsung Switch - tried this, useless as F!
Helium - could have taken that route were it not for the software I used
Sorry Glebun. Won't happen again.
As for the software I used, it's Wondershare MobileGo for Android. Did what it's supposed to do. Pretty much.
I just hate that there are multiple entries in the phone book. For example, he has a contact with multiple numbers, all of them are going to be on a separate entries. Strange.
Should've tried Helium.

Its a list ( more than one on that post ) of apps that can be removed .
Stock and non rooted it does not apply apart from you could use it as a guide to some of the apps .
No root = No XDA .

No it does not say it anywhere on this forum but same is the case with "This Forum is only for those who can read", it is no where in the forum rules. But it is assumed.
Similarly, this forum is based on development, which again means that you will have to work with system files which in turn means that you need to have root access..
Most of the tools, methods, guides on this forum are for root users.
And this is what JJ meant. I hope I made it very clear.
100% correct zoot1.
No root = no development = no XDA .
Sure you can join XDA and not root but you are very limited in what you can achieve .
Also the questions asked often get an answer that presumes the user has rooted .
jje
Good luck

Well, basically, there is only one way to do this properly. Everything, that looks suspicious, in that manor, like (eg.g. In my case) HRS hotels..
Not Samsung, don't need it, gone.
Or: GMail, Google app. Belongs to Android. Keeping it..
I'd say, create a backup, just in case, then try it out, but as slow as you can and not just: This, this, this.. and ohh.. I know! This can go, to!
And infact you just deleted the csc.. just be carfefull!
And if something goes wrong, who cares? You created a backup As long as you backup your stff, before mucking around, with your system files, you're pretty much fine!
I learnt to do this sort of stuff, by thinking: It's AOSP, I've got the stuff on my PC and I'm really nosy! Let's do this, this.. Oh... wiat. Wait if.. Oh, who cares!
Just be a daredevil, don't be afraid, to mod your phone. Always do a backup (NAND, or ADB) and you're fine, like I said
Happy daring!

I'm not actually deleting anything, just using the disable function in ICS. Thank you very much for the feedback though. I did pretty much do what you said, trial and error. And if something goes wrong I can just enable the app again.
Sent from my Galaxy SIII using XDA-developers incredible android app
First about touchwiz home, you also can disable it on unrooted stock, if you installed a third party launcher before like apex.
About trial and error and disabling, still be careful, if you disable something the system needs it could be your Rom gets unstable or won't boot when you reboot next time. At this case the rooted method is way better, because without you aren't able to backup or restore if something fails. Yes you can mess up more than without root, but it doesn't really matter, because you can backup your whole system.
Edit: ok, sry my fault, you indeed can't disable touchwiz home without root.

[Q] About Nandroid backup

Hey guys before you say anything... I know this was answered about a thousand times but wherever I search I cant get a good enough topic to be fully certain so I'd be thankful if someone who knows this would answer...
So my question is: If I make my Nandroid backup and move it to my pc, can I delete every last thing from my phone inc. my music, photos, videos, contacts etc.(basicaly do a hardcore wipe) and then move the backup back on the phone and restore it using cwm recovery so that everything is back and fully working, you know all music, photos, settings and stuff would be back???
Hope someone will answer me and thanks in advance

Actually, I don't believe a nandroid backs up your internal or external sd card. So you should copy that to your computer as well.

Carbon App sync and Backup

has anyone tried this on the Rezound? I have and it errors out while trying to backup either locally or online via dropbox, box, etc.
Trying to figure out if its all rezounds or maybe my custom ROM that is the culprit.

yeah, sent him logs as well but can't get it working. First beta didn't work either for me and didn't try the updates. Asked him through google+ to remove rezound from list of compatible devices since this doesn't seem to be getting fixed. Don't mind supporting devs, but its completely broken for our device, and so far no support or answers why.

if phone is rooted, it can be backed up to sd card. You have to have the paid app to restore apps though. Its in the play store.
Already tell that I am not root.
And I believe the better feature of the prg is that work even to no root mobiles because if i have a root mobile why I use that prg and not the titanium pro?????!?

Carbon App sync is a bit wobbly on my S3 (running JB 4.1.2.) - can backup to Dropbox but not Google Drive, whereas on my Asus TF101 (running JB 4.2.1) it does both!
datasync beta runs 100% on both!
Now I can it simply want the latest Samsung use drivers from Samsung site

[Q] Basic s3 rom info.

hi guys
theres a few things that i need to know if somebody could be so kind to assist or point in the right direction.
i have my s3 international for the past month now. i had put cyanogenmod 10.1 and it had its issues yet my titanium back up and my sd card was working fine. now i got my s3 back yesterday with stock rom and i flashed it and put cwm then restored a backup of the old nightlies then i did an update with the new nightloies, problem is that now none of my images are there and titanium backup is giving me the elements failed when i try to restore missing apps. how do i go about restoring my images from a nandroid backup? or where is it? i like this rom but now i noticed that the battery drain lasst night was like 15%. as you can see im still a noob at this so i cant check logs etc cos i dont know where to look. i have attached screenshots that might help.
Images are either stored on your internal or external SD card, in the DCIM folder. If they aren't on your external SD then you have lost them, nandroid doesn't back up the internal SD unless you tell it to and service would have wiped the internal SD.
Ask in your ROM thread for specific help, but I'd suggest flashing a fresh version of the ROM without performing any restore - see how it runs for a few days before you add any apps.
If you aren't confident then best stick with stock, or an modded version of stock, for a while first.
so what section do questions go?

Mate, if your images aren't on your internal or external sd card - they ain't there. No amount of titanium backup fiddling will restore your images.

Mate, using a file browser, look in your DCIM folder on BOTH the internal and external SD cards.
If you can't find it, download a software called Recuva. It works like a charm. Sure, they'll be some corrupt images, but, most of them are there.
