[PATCH] [ROOT] [DE-ODEX] Working Google Wallet on AT&T S4! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Themes and Apps

So I managed to get Google Wallet working on the AT&T Galaxy S4 using what has become common place now - using files from Sprint's phone. Since they have an MDL release, our files are actually very similar making this easy to do. Of course, that also means you should be on MDL to use this. It may work on older releases, but I haven't tested that.
Since we don't have a recovery, I've attached a zip containing the files you need in the directories they should go in. If someone wants to write a batch file to install it, feel free - but I'm a Linux user I don't use batch files. You will need to install Xposed framework to use this. You may be able to use a region / device patched Wallet APK directly, but I haven't tested that.
Steps:
0) Root is required. A de-odexed system is required.
1) Install the files from the wallet.zip on to your phone, placing the files from the zip in the same directory layout on your phone. Reboot.
2) Install Xposed framework. Run the App, install the modified app_process and reboot.
3) Install the Google Wallet Xposed mod. Run the Xposed Installer App and enable this from the modules tab. Reboot again.
3) Install Google Wallet from the Play Store (I pushed it from play.google.com but whatever works).
4) Run Google Wallet. It should sit as "Setting up Google Wallet" for a few minutes (mine took 2 or 3 minutes) and you should be able to configure Wallet from there.
5) Optional: Restore the AT&T build.prop if you wish. I haven't noticed any side effects from not doing and I like the "4G" icon.
build.prop changes:
Code:
ro.product.model=SAMSUNG-SGH-I337
ro.product.name=jflteuc
ro.product.device=jflteatt
ro.build.product=jflteatt
This is not for inexperienced users. You assume all risk by attempting the above procedure.
I would highly recommend you make a backup of the Google Wallet app and data using Titanium Backup after setup. If you wipe data down the road, it may be impossible to reset your Secure Element without doing this. You have been warned!
Edit: My initial upload missed feature.xml in the csc folder in the wallet.zip. Re-download if your does not include a csc folder.

Goes to
/system/app
4) Go to xposed installer app (installed in step 1)
5) Go to modules tab
6) select the module xposed wallet patcher
7) go to framework tab
8) install/update
8.5) Connect with adb. "adb shell", "su", "stop", "rm -rf /data/dalvik-cache/*", "exit", "exit"
9) adb reboot
10) Install and run google wallet

Not that you have to but would you be able to post a quick video tutorial? I got Google Wallet working on my note 2 which took some modifications that could have been detrimental so I feel confident doing your method but visuals are always helpful. Thanks for the method too.

I don't do videos, but I would be happy to link to one if someone else provided it. I'd also be happy to attach one of those "copy it to your SD card and run run.bat" if someone provided it. I'm just here to provide the groundwork and foundation

So I copied the wallet.zip files on to my system dir. Rebooted my phone and now it's a blank screen with just the blue LED pulsating. I"m sure I did something wrong here, not sure what it was. Still at the 1st step.
Thanks,
t

Is your system de-odexed? That's the only thing I can think. Forgot to mention that in the OP. Updated.

Sorry, I feel bad for missing that. I'd use Odin to restore if I were you. It will preserve your data, so you will just need to re-root (and re-OTA if you want it).

So if I'm on AT&T there's no way to get this working yet?

I'm on AT&T and it works.
That being said you have to change build.prop modoco's xposed hack to kill the device check did not work.
Not sure why.
Thanks romracer
The only changes in features.xml were in the NFC section yea?

It works on AT&T; there's just no recovery to install an easy to use zip for you yet. It has to be done by hand. I'll repack this once an unlocked bootloader is available.

I attached the Google Wallet Xposed patch I use; it works. You do have to edit build.prop (or use the included one) for initial Wallet setup. This is because this information is used in initial provisioning and there's no way around it (this is required for the SGS3 / Note2 / using with AOSP / etc).
Yes, the only changes to feature.xml was in the NFC section.

Aye I changed my build.prop back to AT&T, I modded systemui to show AT&T as eupoean for signal icons/ signal bars set to 6 so I did not want to lose that lol.
Thank you for confirmation on the features.xml I use a few mods in there and was easier to copy NFC the each mod.
Hopefully I dont kill my phone like ive been doing messing with /system hacks. I dont want to go through it all again lol.

I thought a deodexed system wasnot available for AT&T users...

Question Regarding WiFi Calling on AT&T Galay Note... if its possible Or NOT

What the Glob am I talking about?
Alright so due too my ****ty signal at home I am very curious if there is a way we can make a mod too enable us AT&T Galaxy note users to make internet calls without the use of a 3rd party app such as Google voice or GrooVe IP.
So Lets begin, Im aware of how T-mobile users have the feature of making calls through wifi, but recently I ran into a thread that posted that states how to"Add native android SIP stack for Wifi & 3G calls in ICS " Link > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674592.
We know it used to work on the international galaxy note until samsung pulled the feature out when upgrading to ICS. we also know the old method does not work for ICS ROMs. Yet I believe here in xda we can make it happen wether we use some other sort of method to achieve this mod.I was looking around xda forums & other users are saying it has too do with the kernel yet others say you have too mod the framework-res.apk ..im a bit lost.
Here is an article from techsilver.com too back up my post of this thread.
Restore Wi-Fi Calling On The International Galaxy Note Running ICS [How-To]
A new method from XDA Developer’s forum member ‘mrcasmir’ for ICS users restores Wi-Fi calling.
It basically works by modifying theframework-res.apk to allow SIP. This in result allows Wi-Fi calling. In addition to enabling internet calls (Wi-Fi and 3G) the mod has other useful features too; it enables all orientations on your phone which means that your phone’s screen can rotate all around, a rotating lockscreen when in landscape and portrait orientations, your phone screen staying dark when you connect USB/charger as well as tablet like dialogue boxes.
Your device needs to be rooted for this method to work on it. Follow the steps below to be able to use your mobile for internet calls:
Please perform a backup before you begin, just to be on the safe side. TechSliver is not to be blamed for any accidental loss in data or in case your device gets bricked. Proceed at your own risk.
Step 1: Download android.software.sip.voip.zip—> (courtesy of mobilegalaxy).
Step 2: Extract and copy the .xml file to /etc/permissions using ES file explorer, Root Explorer or any other root browsing app. The file can also be pushed via ADB but you must be rooted in order to do any of these.
Step 3: Download the framework-res.zip, then extract the content and copy it to /system/framework. Alternatively you can also push this. This framework-res.apk has been tested on the following ROMs:
LPY
LPF
LP8
LP9
LQ2
Kingdroid 2.0
Use it on any other ROM at your own risk.
Your phone will freeze for a bit and then quickly reboot. If it does not do so, reboot manually after giving it some time to copy the files. Your Galaxy Note should now have internet calling enabled. Enjoy!
If unfortunately something goes wrong whilst you follow these steps or it doesn’t work for you, just push back Stock framework-res.apk or re-flash Non-wipe ICS ROM.
For additional information, head over to XDA Developers Forum.

What's my point ?
Well for one I would love too see the day I can make wifi calls using my AT&T Galaxy Note and second It seems too me that some IF not most everyone is a bit thirsty too know if the method used on the international verison of the GNote works on their device/Rom & I myself am guilty of that. On the original thread by mrcasmir i posted my framework-res.apk to see if mrcasmir would reply and test my framework to see if the mod works but nothing has happend yet...
Why dont I try this out my self you say?
We all have a life and beside here on xda we less gifted non developer "noobs" ask alot of questions too those highly ranked, Sometimes we are scared to mess something up or we just dont know where too begin. I respect all developers and non-developers such as my self & I appreciate the OP mrcasmir for taking the time to make the mod availble for the international GNote. But i will not lie I am a little intimidated too edit my framework and screw some ish up but I will take pride and proceed too see if this works on my Rom and my Galaxy Note so stay updated and i will check if it works or not.
If ANYONE or if some recognized developer has any insight on this please shed some light & help us/ME out. Any help or clarification would be useful. Im not sure if its possible but yet nothing should be impossible.
(if that makes any sense) Lol
UPDATE!! THESE ARE INSTRUCTIONS DIRECTLY FROM THE OP FROM THE ORIGINAL FRAMEWORK GIVING YOU WIFI CALLING OPTION ON YOUR GNOTE GIVE THANKS TO HIM AND ME IF YOU WANT xD
Just a little changelog of what the modified framework-res.apk can do
Enables internet call (Wifi & 3G)
Enables all orientations (your phone rotates all round)
Rotating Lockscreen (Landscape + Portrait)
Screen stays off on USB/Charger disconnect
Just download one of the .zip files below extract and copy android.software.sip.voip.xml (its in this folder \system\etc\permissions) file to /etc/permissions using ES file explorer, Root explorer or any root browsing app. You can also push this file via ADB but you must be rooted in order to do any of these. After copy framework-res.apk (its in this folder \system\framework) to /system/framework, you can also push this. Your phone will freeze and quickly reboot, if not reboot manually but give it enough time to copy the files.
You should have internet calling now and all the other extras.
NOTE: Always backup incase something goes wrong, I am not to be held responsible for any bricks.
However, if anything goes wrong, just push back Stock framework-res.apk or if not reflash Non-wipe ICS ROM.
This framework-res.apk is specifically tested on the GNote ICS ROMs listed above, use it in any other ROM at your own risk.
--------------------------EASIER STEP FOR NON-ROOTED ROMS--------------------------
To simplify these steps, I have made a flashable zip. Download one of the .zip files and put it in your sdcard (external)---Do not extract pls.
Boot into recovery (Vol up + Power button + Home button all together)
-------ALREADY HAVE CWM DO THIS-------
Scroll down to 'Install zip from sdcard'
Then 'Select zip from Internal/External sd'
Find the zip where you saved it and select it
Select Yes to install.
NOTE: CWM uses Vol up & down to scroll and Home button to select
----------STOCK RECOVERY DO THIS---------
Download CWM Touch
Copy to External sdcard
Boot into recovery
Scroll down to 'Apply update from external sdcard'
Locate CWM and select it
Select Yes to install
CWM Touch will load automatically
Click 'Install zip from sdcard'
Click 'Select zip from Internal/External sd'
Locate the zip where you saved it scrolling with your finger or with volume button
Click on it and select yes to install.
NOTE: Stock recovery uses volume up & down to scroll and Power button to select while CWM Touch uses hand + Vol up & down for scrolling and Touch and Home button to select.
When all is done, go back and select Reboot system.
If you have any questions post it here.
THERE ARE FOUR DIFFERENT WAYS TO GET THIS DONE
1. Copy using root explorer
2. Push using ADB
3. Install using CWM Touch temporary
4. Install using CWM kernel installed on your phone.
FOR STEP
1. You must have root and root explorer app, just download the file, extract and copy each to their respective directories (refer to the step above).
2. Push the two files using ADB but you need root in order to do this.
3. Install temporary CWM Touch via stock recovery and flash the zip. This does not install CWM in your phone, it disappears as soon as you reboot.
4. Install CWM kernel for your ROM and use it to flash the zip.
if your looking for the download go to the original thread and scroll till you see the downloads.. (sorry i couldnt past them here)

there are a few roms that have SIP as one of their main features. I recall one rom-maker even talking about it in his Youtube video. I'd check out the ROMs with youtube videos.
Sorry i don't remember exactly which one it is.

Alright guys so good news remember that thread I listed above about the framwork mod? Well I spoke to the OP of the thread and I sent him my framework and he managed to incorporate the "wifi calling" option into the phones settings..
do this after you flash the .zip file go to Settings---> Call----> Internet Account Settings. That is what it adds to your phone where you can setup your Internet calling accounts like SIP in order to use them to make calls instead of your mobile network. You still need a SIP provider but you can just google (android SIP client or i think you can configure google voice as well) I personally havent gone any further and gotten an SIP client but i found a forum that tells you how to use google voice > > >
http://androidforums.com/android-ap...voip-calling-using-google-voice-sipdroid.html
Anyways below is the link to the thread I was talking about and all the files are there needed to flash it. You can either flash it in cwm or just do it manually. Good luck!

I looked at the other thread, and the framework-res.apk that he has is about 18.7mb, however the Goldie ICS rom which I'm using has the framework-res apk at 12.6mb, so I'm sure its not compatible with the one on the other thread, has that apk worked for you? If yes which rom are you on right now?
EDIT: nvm, I'm editing the framework-res.apk from my goldie and I'll see if it works, if it does I'll post, and on success I could edit the apk from other roms as well.., lets see.
I just uploaded the goldie modded file,
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27597907/modded-framework-res.apk
rename to framework-res.apk and put it in \system\framework
do make a backup of your original framework-res.apk
Also add the xml file to the respective directory from the original thread, please note this is for the SGS3 TW Goldie Rom ONLY.

This mod just allows you so you can setup your Internet calling accounts with SIP in order to use them to make calls instead of your mobile network.
here are a few link i found useful:

I do not know of how to set it up using another client and not google voice but like i said a quick google search will solve your problems. I personally use google voice i dont see why not.

Im taking a guess that this mod of the framework will work with many roms but i suggest if you do more than one mod too your framework you keep a back up of original and each and every time you do modify it make sure you edit it properly and always back up every time you do insert a new mod. Get me?

I'm glad it works! And if someone has a framework file that is significantly different from the file size of the one I posted, please do not overwrite yours, instead post it here, and I can mod and re-post the file.
I'm also looking at setting this up, I have very poor signal at home too, and this would be useful. :good: Once I have something working, I'll post what I did

[MOD] (UPDATED 07/03) Google Wallet Patch/Fix apk -- flashable zip by OMJ

There has been a patched version of the updated Google Wallet released. Links updated. Now the Play Store won't ask you to update Wallet.
This is a link w/the method I used to install the apk (the linked OP method didn't work for me) and the Google Wallet app seems to work fine for me. It is showing me my unused $10, but it is too late in the evening for me to actually go test it. I will do my best to not be lazy tomorrow and find a store that has a NFC payment system.
Tested and it works perfectly.
So you can try the linked OP method, my method, or OMJ's flashable zip.
Region / Device / Root Patched Google Wallet APK (1.1-R67-v5) - Android Software - MoDaCo
apk
Patched apk
Flashable zip by OMJ:
Flashable zip by OMJ. It is the latest version so the Play Store won't ask you to update Wallet.
And here is his post in this thread. Please follow his instructions and hit the thanks and donate button for him. He is doing more actual work than I am. I am merely a broker.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28229671&postcount=189
The install method I used is similar to the linked OP method. First I deleted the apk from system/app and data/app. Then I used Dropbox to get it on my phone from my PC. You can use whatever method you would like. Then I used Root Explorer to move the patched apk to system/app AND data/app. I also renamed the apk to what it was named previously on my phone when I downloaded Google Wallet from the Play Store. Your phone may have a different name as well. I think as long as they are named the same in system/app and data/app you should be fine. That is how I have it. Then don't forget to change permissions once you move it. With Root Explorer you will long press to get the menu and once you select permissions you will check the first two radio buttons on the first row of three. Then uncheck the last two radio buttons on the second row. Then uncheck the last radio button on the last row. Those permissions should match with all the other apps listed. It will look like this: rw-r--r--
Step by step:
- Be rooted
- Uninstall Google Wallet in Play Store OR just delete Google Wallet from data/app
- Delete Google Wallet apk in system/data
- take the patched Google Wallet apk and rename to something closer to what was already listed under system/app that you previously deleted. It isn't terribly important that you rename it exactly.
- move that apk to system/app
- change permissions to read rw-r--r--
- copy that apk and move to data/app
- reboot
Good luck.
Here is a solid step-by-step list from fpineda101:
I had to reboot my phone to get it to work. Here re the steps I took
1. Write down apk name in system/app
2. Delete apk in system/app
3. Mount r/w in system/app using root Explorer
4. Copy apk to system/app and rename it
5. Set permissions. I actually used this which worked for me
x x x
x
x
6. Mount system/app as r/o
7. Delete apk in data/app
8. Copy apk from system/app with rename to data/app
9. Reboot and run the sucka
Don't take the update in Goggle Play. It still doesn't fix Google Wallet for the Evo 4G LTE. BUT if after you did this apk switch you took the update -- don't fret. Because we installed the apk in system/app all you have to do is go back into the Play Store and select uninstall. It will revert back to the version we manually installed.
Thank you guys for hitting the thanks button. And you're welcome. It's cool knowing this is helping and working. I hope I reach 100.

I do not believe this will help those with bricked secure elements. If you are in that boat give it a go and see what you can do.

Oh, not at all. I don't have the phone yet. Just attempting to learn as much about it as possible. Random Google Wallet question; if I already have a Visa card connected to my Google Wallet account from a long time ago, would paying for items be as simple as just signing in and using it? In the thread you linked it appears that some cards require certain dependencies to be able to be used for Wallet.

Got another confirmation. Works!
Got my $10 pre-paid card ready to test later today.
Simply changing the file extension of the old version (to .bak) worked for me, didn't have to delete fwiw.
are unrooted users still at a disadvantage?
you gotta be rooted to have this work..
but those of us that arent rooted cant do this because it'll brick our nfc if we try to root right now. we still need to wait on an official ota fix?

thank you so much for this, i have been trying other methods for hours now and still couldnt get this to work. i had unrooted and now i re-rooted and was about to give up when i saw this post. thank you again
great find, thanks!
worked like a champ! right after installing, I got a notification of an update for Wallet & it was dated today 7/1...I updated thinking Google finally fixed Wallet for the ELTE, but nope, got unsupported device again. Uninstalled update, back working again. I'll be adding a flashable odex & deodex zips in my thread.

From the research I've done (see my thread linked in my signature) there is no recovery from a bricked secure element. That and the FAQ I put together (also in my signature) should get you started on what to know about this device
Also, OP is it okay with you if I add a link to this thread to my aforementioned threads?
There is a new update in the play Store dated July 1, do not take the update!

Rooting does not brick the element per se.
The potential bricking of your secure element would only be an issue if you have data in the app and now can't get into the app to clear the data because of the "unsupported" error.
@untick-now that OMJ created zips it may not matter but you don't need to install the app in both /system/app and /data/app.
I looked at OMJ's zip and he has it only going to /system/app and I deleted the one I installed manually in /data/app, rebooted and it still worked.
You may also want to include a note in the OP about not doing any updates. Easy enough to uninstall an update but figured it was worth mentioning.
EDIT: @fpineda- TIE!
I followed the op's instructions & it worked like a charm! My previous balance showed up and I just bought a couple things at Wawa. Thanks!

[MOD] Google Wallet for Odex / Deodex : All carriers US / CAN

I take no credit for any of this but I followed the below link on my Rogers S4 and wallet is working perfect.
Description: This method will help you get Google Wallet working on your Galaxy S4, regardless if you have a TouchWiz-based ROM or AOSP-based and whether it's Odexed or Deodexed. This should also work on all US/Canadian Galaxy S4's.
Please Note: In order to use this method you need to be rooted[ and have a custom recovery.

Yes, and the top one is only for deodex so not all people can use it. The bottom one put me in a boot loop so it might work for all US odexed ROMs but not Canadian. The one I've posted appears to work for all Canadian and US deodex or odexed
Thanks! Working for me... at least running, haven't tried to use it in a store yet.
I switched my build.prop back to my AT&T one after setting it up, not the Verizon one shown here.
Running Goldeneye 1.3 deodex and following the instructions for Option A to the letter and it keeps giving me a message saying that Google Wallet can't be configured and to check my network. I have cellular signal and I am connected to my WiFi. Trying Option B now....
*EDIT* Just tried Option B and getting the same error. "Device Not Ready. Wallet is unable to proceed unitl the device is fully initialized. Make sure the device has network access and try rebooting if the problem persists." I've tried all that and still not having any luck. ugh.
I'm not one hundred percent but I think you have to change the ro.product to the following
SGH-I337
Instead of vzw to att for the bottom two
AT&T S4 | MDOB | Faux123 003m | xda premium

[12/20/2013] Updater Script / How to for flashing aroma based roms

Updated 12/20/2013
I have had some people ask about how to use an aroma based rom with our safe strap recovery. I have attached a zip file to the post that contains the "meta-inf" folder that goes into the archive of your rom. In theory, this should work on any SM-9005 rom or T-Mobile rom.
Prerequisites: Root - Busy Box - Safe Strap Recovery
Choose your Rom Slot and prepare it before starting ( build the system.img and userdata.img ) Instructions are HERE
Wipe system and data from recovery. Data is optional. If you wipe date, you will have to change your APN settings, network mode, time and region settings,etc....
1. Open your "Rom".zip with 7zip. Do not extract, only open!
2. Delete the "meta-inf" folder from the archive.
3. Take any apps in the aroma (maybe called something different i.e. xnote) folder that you want to keep and move them to the system/app folder in the archive.
4. Delete aroma folder from archive when finished.
5 extract the attached zip that contains the new "meta-inf" folder. File is here The extracted zip folder is named the same as the folder within the zip. You need the folder "meta-inf" folder INSIDE the zip, not the extracted folder that was just created. I know this is confusing!
6. Copy this folder to the rom with 7zip.
7. You should now only have 2 folders ( system and meta-inf ) inside the archive. Close archive and copy to phone to flash.
8. Download this file to phone. This is the second file to flash. It fixes all current issues in one package.
9. Flash Rom.zip first and then flash file from step 8. No need to reboot between flashes.
10. Reboot and let rom load.
Everything I have tested now works including NFC, WiFi, BT, All SPen functions including snote, screen write, and action memo. Bluetooth Tethering with Gear is working. Also corrected the music bug and Video chat on hangouts. By not wiping data, proper APNs are saved. If you need to wipe due to problems, you will need to load your APN settings manually.

When you're done you will have only the meta-inf folder from this post and the system folder. The xnote folder is for aroma. You will need to take what you want out of there and move to the system/app folder.

Sorry I probably should have clarified alittke better. Say I wanted to keep all of the aroma features which one do I save out of the folder. I don't actually see a folder titled "aroma".

Try this, when you pull your pen out - it shows the little pie menu for things you can do. The first one is the action memo thing I believe.
Make the note come up and write a number down. Then click on the action button, "the one that selects whatever you wrote" then try to message that to a contact, If your Spen apps are working, you wont get stuck on "Recognizing" forever..Does that work for you?

I have the same problem. Perhaps a bug? Quick Google search showed this thread with same problem not related to this rom.

Was able to fix this issue on x note 6.0
Handwriting Recognition works now
The en_US folder was missing from the VODB folder which is the language settings for handwriting recognition.
Extract the zip attached and copy the en_US folder to :system/VODB
Set permissions same as other folders and reboot.

Installing Xnote 6.0
Here is how i installed Xnote 6.0 using SS by @Hashcode
Make a back up of stock rom before starting. These files will be flashed to the stock rom partition.
I recommend starting from a fresh odin with root and safe strap installed.
Wipe system from recovery but do not wipe data. this will retain your APN settings, etc....
1. Open your Xnote6.0.zip with 7zip. Do not extract, only open!
2. Delete the "meta-inf" folder from the archive.
3. Take any apps in the aroma (maybe called something different ie: xnote) folder that you want to keep and move them to the system/app folder in the archive.
4. delete aroma folder,It is called Xnote.
5 extract the attached zip that contains the new "meta-inf" folder. File is here
6. Copy this folder to the rom with 7zip.
7. Open system/VODB and copy the folder "en_US" from this zip file.
8. Close archive and copy to phone to flash.
9 Download this file to phone. This is the second file to flash.
10. Flash Xnoterom.zip and then flash file from step 9. no need to reboot between flashes.
11. Reboot and let rom load. go to xnote settings and then to update and download the fix for music and games from the dropbox link in the update app.
12. reboot and go to safestrap recovery. Install the downloaded fix file.
Reboot and profit!
Dont think i missed any steps, if something is not right, please let me know!

No problem, if something is not working right just let me know and i will troubleshoot it for you. Ive been through it a couple times and seems pretty stable for me. Flashing to the stock rom partition is the way i always did it in the past on every other device, so just back up and flash away as far as i am concerned.
Glad to see this is working for you, what about language and settings?? Does screen write with the spen actually save a picture how its supposed to and not FC?

Confirmed, everything works perfect doing this method. I tried earlier with an Updater script from an international stock rom, and that did not go well...
Anyone want to put it all together and have a download link? I won't be home till Saturday and would love to flash x note much sooner lol. Doesn't hurt to ask, right?
Stickied with my post-it-note 3
Does everything work? Ex. Language and input settings?

Are you asking or stating? If you are stating, then you may have gotten a bad download. I just re-verified the download and all is well. The file is very small.
Works perfectly. Thanks!
After reboot, original build.prop is back and the vzw files dropped the .bak. I am rooted, but not unlocked so wp is on, and I guess native tether is not gonna work. Didn't try it before reboot though.

Product of wp being on. You can try to open my build.prop and copy and paste the entire prop into your file effectively replacing the contents. See if that takes.
What is a native tether exploit used for?

To enable native tether, obviously. Search is your friend.

@Topsnake, is it possible to rig your previous MOD ([MOD][ROOT]Native Wireless Tether for build 19.6.3) for 4.4.4?
It appears that having a modded VZWEntitlementServices.apk which takes care of the native tether and only that is a cleaner solution than modifying the build.prop as the latter is referenced a lot by many processes which, consequently, could lead to far reaching side effects.
BTW, do you know if anyone tried your VZWEntitlementServices.apk on 4.4.4?

Thought I replied to this.
The 19.5.3 would probably work for 4.4.4 but I haven't tried it.
The build.prop is a much cleaner install when done correctly.

@Topsnake can you please elaborate on the changes you made to the stock buiuld.prop file?
I know you've mentioned in another thread that your method and the one using EntitlementBypass-v1.2.apk (from Moto X forum) are using the same commends. Would I be correct assuming that you've:
1. Added net.tethering.noprovisioning=true
and
2. Changed ro.mot.tether_dun_required to 0
Are those are the only difference between your build.prop and the stock one?
The reason I ask, is that, as I said earlier in this thread, build.prop is pretty significant file (from what I understand) and sets a lot of variables and settings. I'm hesitant to modify it in fears that by enabling native tether other unwanted side effects would arise.
Thanks

line 259 net.tethering.noprovisioning=true appears to be the only addition to the original build.prop
Should the result should be the same if we just edit the prop.buld right on the device and add that line?

So then copy the contents of the build prop into yours or replace it all together. It takes of all about 3 seconds.
It will be the same.

"I'm not required to disclose the details of any mod to you" - this might or might not be true as I'm not familiar with Open Source Licensing and you might be required to disclose. Regardless, you did not, that's part why you came across as not completely honest.
The fact that most developers (Jcase, Faux123, beaups, iKrYpToNiTe, just to name a few) DO disclose everything makes me thank that you might be required to do full disclosure.
"Either apply it, or don't." - I did not. I applied command provided by iKrYpToNiTe

If you are really that concerned about the build.prop being altered in a way that you feel the need to be worried, then simply compare your current build.prop to the modified one that topsnake has provided. It's that simple. No need to start arguments about what one person feels is better or safer or whatever else you think; I personally research anything that I do to my phone by tearing down apk's or batch files or whatever it might be that I'm applying to my phone to see what is being done. By doing this it also helps you learn how these exploits work and helps you learn more about your phone in general.
If you're not comfortable with changing files then don't do it. It's that simple.
Not calling any one particular person out in general, but there is so much of the same information continually being repeated that it is extremely frustrating. I'm to the point where I don't even try and help because I'm just repeating what I said a page or two back, or the post directly below.
