[Q] Blueish color on the back white bands - AT&T HTC One (M7)

I have noticed a blueish coloring on the white bands on the back of the phone.
At the top and the bottom, almost seem like your jeans bleed blue into the white color on the phone.
Has anyone experienced this. And if so any way to get rid of it?
Thanks

I haven't had that problem with mine but the jeans I wear are a very light wash color. Have you tried tried a damp rag with just barely any soap? I had a black mark on mine and that took it right off.

Do you by chance have a problem wearing silver jewelery where it tarnishes very quickly? It could be your body chemistry interacting with the metal. I know someone that simply can't have anything other than gold for long.

Screen discoloration?

Does anyone else have screen discoloration near the bottom by the capacitive keys? Its only visible on lighter pages, ie white or off white colors such as web pages and the xda app...not sure what to do about it and if its normal
Edit: seems to be the glue related yellow tint?

Yes, at the very bottom. It is slight but there on white pages. Not as concerned about that as I am about the LCD flex issue.
This screen is beautiful but the manufacturing process and lamination of this screen currently has issues!

I know, it's such an amazing screen. Not sure what to do about the discoloration. Do you think it will go away with time if it's the glue?
I have the same issue. The whole screen has a warm tone but on a white screen you can certainly see a shift towards yellow on the very bottom portion of the screen. I personally think it's from the buttons.

Lumia 920 buttons have a yellow tint

I just bought my Lumia 920 yesterday morning and am liking it so far except for a few small annoyances. The main thing is the buttons on the bottom of the device have a yellow/green tint to them. Are they like this for anyone else or are they supposed to be bright white like on other phones? I have tried to get a good photo but can't and the AT&T salesperson said she can't see it. I was going to just exchange it for another one but they didn't have any more of the matte black ones in stock. I may check with a different store today to see if they have any in stock.

Same for me on my matte black - i think it's supposed to be like this (and i like it - I don't want to be blinded by too bright button lights when i look at the screen in the dark)

Thanks for the quick reply. I wonder if any of the other phones like the white or cyan have the same thing. For some reason the yellow is bugging me. I guess I am just used to the white lights since I just came from Android devices. I am way too picky LOL.
I have the white and mine is the same way.

My black one is the same. On Android phones the buttons are white whereas the 920 has a chrome overlay. I wonder if it's the chrome that causes the yellow color?

How is the yellow tint compared to the Lumia 800? Is it yellower?
I like it. It keeps the brightness down to a manageable level. I had the GSIII before this and the brightness of the keys was one reason I rooted and put AOKP on to turn those off permanently.

Same on my black 920. Looking at my wife's 820 hers are brighter when lit and are properly white when the phone is off. On the 920 they are silvered. This must be why they shine a bit yellow when lit.

Ditto. I just checked my wife's 820 and they're white as well.
100% normal
just like my NL900
In all honesty, white LEDs hurt my eyes at night because they're so bright. Even though white looks better, yellow is much more comfortable to look at.
Just a guess but it may have to do with the metallic nature of the screen over thr three buttons. The white led changes color shining through it. I'm slowly getting used to the off-white hue and not bothering me anymore.
I have a black matte colored version of the 920

and mine are tinted slightly yellow as well but there is no green hue to it. On my Samsung Focus S they are pure white though, almost blindingly so compared to the Lumia 920. Not sure which I like better but I am leaning towards blinding white since it looks more natural to me. The yellow will take some getting use to.
I'll get over it.

Hmmmm you were able to turn them off permanently on stock as well.
I think the reason why they have an Yellowish tint is due to the metallic / shiny mirror look they have when they are not lit up.
If you look at the 900, they don't have this finish, they are plain white.

My Cyan Lumia 920 has this as well. Good to know it was meant to be this way and it's one of the first things I noticed going from an HTC Arrive. The Arrive white LEDs never hurt my eyes and I like the white look better but oh well the Phone is Great so I'm not complaining to hard!!
My red 920 doesn't have the yellow hue, like my 900 did. It's a nice bright white, which I prefer.

Mine black 920 has white chome. No form of tint unless I have it angles to reflect light from my yellow lightbulb.

[Q] Are there any downsides of a white phone?

Im buying a L920. I've always been set on the red model, but having watched several video reviews im now in doubt.
- Smudgeprints are extremely noticeable on red
- It has a really big "wow effect", its very noticeable with such a massive, bright red glossy back
- Its not gonna match live tiles if I change the colors
Because of this, im leaning towards White, but I have some questions about it.
- Does it get dirty easier? (ie. dirt gather in scratches)
- I read white phones tend to turn yellow if exposed to certain things such as cigarette smoke. Is this true?
- Is there overall something I should be aware of when getting a white phone?
Thanks in advance.

I had the White for a week then swapped out to a Red one. I didn't notice anything unusual like smudge prints etc, that stood out on the white. But, I'm an office worker so I'm not generally exposed to much dirt or grime.
Of the 2 colors, I'm not sure which I really prefer. The Red stands out, but so does the White. There are certain theme colors that do not go well with either color...so it boils down to your personal preference.
Though liking both the White and Red, I have not regretted switching to the Red

Im gonna be using full body protection on the phone, including on metal+lens on the back from the Martin Fields protector. Im not exposed to dirt either (being home going till march...), but its still something I'd like to know, as I've never had a white phone.
Imo red stands out more than white. White is a fairly common color among phones (one reason I dont prefer the color), however the bright red is not. Im just imagening holding it to my ear and all ppl see is the bright back, heh. White just seems so...smooth, despite being common.
Bump for more interest.
Well I can't say anything about White vs. Red but I had a Cyan for two weeks and then I got RED .... I personally liking RED a lot more.

I would get the Red colour. My mum got a White 920 and I really don't like it. I also seen the Yellow version which I thought I would hate, but it actually looked pretty cool in person.
I have a black one which I would say is the best color to choose, either that or the matte grey model.
Between red and white, go red IMO.
I got the yellow one, and I love it - though most people don't (who cares - I love it).
Before that, I had the white Galaxy S2. Looks pretty fine after about a year of usage, besides the scratches it got from the one and only time I dropped it.
I wouldn't hesitate to go for white in means of dirt stains or so. As long as you're not a smoker it should keep it's color for some time.
I am coming from a white HTC One X and I decided to go with a red 920.
When the Lumia 900 came out, I fell in love with the white one. When the HTC One X came out, to me it was like a slightly more rounded "Android" version of the Lumia so I had to have the white one. I really like the color and the contrast of white and black. The only issue I had with the color I had was due to the invisishield protection I had on it. My jeans would stain the shield blue-ish so the phone was never a true white. I read that a naked One X will do the same thing, but that you can clean it off with alcohol. However, if you have a naked Lumia, I doubt that will happen because of the glossy finish.
The reason why I ended up with a red 920 is not because of that, however. I went to the store to check all the colors out and red really stood out to me more so than the other options.
So if you really like the red, get the red but if you really like the white, get the white. But be aware that invisishield-type protection on that phone might be really noticeable once it gets dirty because of the white. I believe the naked phone will actually look cleaner.
I have a white and a black. White stays white - no smudging. However, I will say that the colored ones have more 'grip' that the black - which is very slick.
To my first test drive with a red one then ended up getting a white one for the wife & I. Just came down to personal preference, the one thing I new was I didn't want another black phone

color preference; does anyone wish they had the other colour (and why?)

So i'm debating between white and grey; in the store I tend to prefer the white due to contrast the white border makes with the display (on the surface it seems to make the display stand out) but i prefer the grey because it makes the buttons (at bottom) more visible and seems more stealthy. I'm curious if folks who purchased the grey one end up wishing for the white and conversely those who purchased the white if you end up wishing for the grey and why ?
(only other thing I could think that might be material is if the white creates more flare for the camera)
my mind had been made up for months that I was going to get the White...once I spent real time in the store and really thought about it, Grey won out. I don't regret it at all. it's just more my style in the end...more understated.
Got the white since I thought the gray just didn't look right on the phone so no I do not wish I had gotten the gray over the white and also I haven't noticed any problems with the camera.
I got the white and now I'm wishing I got the grey instead. The white just feels a little too girly for me. Plus, the grey would have gone well with the color of the new car.
I really wanted the white one and when I finally went to get my phone at the Verizon store they only had grey left. Me being too impatient got it anyway and very happy I did lol.

Same thing for me, only all they had was white. So white it is!(really wanted grey, but I too am an impatient sort)
I had a white s3. I wanted a white phone, but it got old really quickly. I have the gray n2, and must say, looks much nicer and more stylish than the white. Just my opinion though.

I got the grey. Im colorblind anyways so it wouldnt matter if the phone was lime green.

I originally wanted white, but I'm glad I went with gray. Even though it's Samsung's famous shoddy plastic it gives a not-so-cheap looking, brushed metal appearance, where as white plastic looks like... white plastic. Plus with the Glacier flavor Otterbox, it contrasts well.

I'm digging the white. I dont like the grey because the faux metal look makes it feel like a cheap immitation of something which is out of place on this bamf. Color is a minor point though since I jave a case that covers 90% of the samsung plastic. Verizon home button bothers me less in white.

Sounds like most people are happy with whatever colour they pick and don't wish for the other colour after the fact. Btw if I buy one i would use it without a case; can't stand cases.
